SOTM spoilers (specifically for the 3rd ending, MOON.EXE)

I don't think Moon or Sun as an animatronic was ever AT Fallfest- like you said, Moon has always been a stand in for Edwin, and the Sun for Fiona in a representative/symbolic sense. The minigames in Help Wanted 2 were a mixture of actual tasks the Fazbear Mechanic (player) fixed (Freddy in the Freezer, probably things like Bonk-a-Bon, etc. That are feasibly located in a Fazbear location) and pieced together memories of the Mimic program that has assumedly corrupted the mask the technician wears.

These Fallfest scenes being the mimic's memories could explain why Moon in his Security Breach form is there - the technician is used to working with the modern version of the character, and his mind is melding with the memories imposed on him by the Mimic, who remembers Edwin as "the Moon", and this portrays him as such in it's memories. This explains why 1) Such a modern animatronic that has no references made to it's design anywhere before Security Breach, and 2) why Moon is so aggressive and holds such a targeted anger for the technician (as their POV would be that of the Mimic in it's memory) -- The only way that the Mimic remembers Edwin -The Moon- is aggressive, and upset that the M1 and M2 programs were able to "live" while Fiona and David weren't (an explanation for the "What makes you so special" lines).

The "You rebuilt yourself, but now you are split in two. Moon and Sun, Destruction and Life." is a direct explanation of the Mimic : "You rebuilt yourself" - The Mimic rebuilding himself after Edwin destroys him ("Speaking of legs, I just finished mine") -- "But now you are split in two. Moon and Sun" - The 'Mimic' being an aggressive, violent creature, having picked up Edwin's destruction, as that's the only real interaction it's ever really had with him- and 'David' being his mother's son, just a child. A 'life', that truly believes he's a kid.

I called it from the beginning of the game, but especially after having seen the 'MOON.EXE' ending, where the Mimic is placated by the bedtime story and David is able to take control again, I'm certain that the M2 program is running on two different personalities: The Moon (Mimicking Edwin) and The Sun (The Sun's SON, David)

Idrk what my main goal is to this rant tbh; just-

The Moon in the Fallfest minigame is a symbolic manifestation of Edwin from a combination of the Mimic's memory and the technician's experience with the DCA -- the reason the Moon and Sun are in the PizzaPlex is because they're characters Edwin (MCM) owned, and as we know, Fazbear scraped every inch of what they could from MCM, so it makes sense they stole the characters, too.

The line about being "Split in two" doesn't have anything to do with Eclipse from the PizzaPlex, but in the split in M2's personality between the violence of the Mimic and the childlike mindset of David.

At least that's my theory- I'm grasping at straws here, but what's new with that and FNAF theories 🤷‍♂️

We know fallfest burned down and og Fiona died there, and most parts of the Moon.exe game use Sun as a representative figure for Fiona and aren't actually about Sun as a character himself.

like, I get that the "this is where the Sun left, leaving them behind" line when handing over a fallfest ticket is very clearly about Fiona and not actually Sun, but i wonder if the reason they chose Sun to represent her was because he too was destroyed there, and that thats supposed to signify a parallel of Edwin losing Fiona/Moon losing Sun?

we know from help wanted that the dca was at fall fest, and this bit about rebuilding Moon as split/plural, specifically highlighting that he's only now like that after being rebuilt, makes me wonder if that was a decision made after Sun was destroyed in the fallfest incident?

(disregarding that the fallfest minigame dca appears in is in fact Moon fronting while everything is on fire, meaning that if they were separate then they were both there- or if they were combined then their being rebuilt as one happened before fallfest, and doesnt quite fit with the "oh they used Sun to represent Fiona because they both died there and left their other halves behind" theory. idkkkk how to fit these two game lores together </3. also dont know how canon help wanted is supposed to be) i feel like this choice in storytelling is very deliberate and significant somehow, but it very well could be "lets add sun/moon in somewhere because the fans are crazy about them" without deeper lore implications. (*as of writing this op has not looked at the new help wanted update they heard rumors about dropping this month)

someone pointed out that while sun and moon represent fiona/edwin, and the baby owl as david, and we the player character put on the owl(david) mask to make moon(edwin) cry- we're supposed to be playing as the mimic in moon.exe

and after fixing the more modern-Moon statue, helpy refers to it as us, saying we fixed ourselves, (nod to the mimic fixing its legs?) but also implying we, as the mimic, are now both sun and moon.

Because the mimic is mimicking both the late Fiona and Edwin now, and learned positive and negative traits from the both of them.

as far as the real Sun and Moon that we know in sb, i'm not sure if this is all just metaphorical and they're being used to showcase parallels or simply tell a story (they are made for theater after all, storytelling is their thing)-

or, if taken a tad more literally, if its trying to hint that they're a mimic. (but not the mimic, as that one is locked beneath the plex for Ruin. But we know there were other attempts at trying to make more?)

anyways idk how literal we can take Moon.exe in regards to dca-specific lore, since the pair's involvement is very much just used as stand-ins to represent other characters. but by god am i desperate for crumbs with these two

Dispatch is Glitchtrap (Spoilers)

So I made a claim that the mimic we hear as “Dispatch” specifically becomes Glitchtrap. I am not the best at articulating my thoughts so bear with me. This is also my first FNAF theory.

For a bit of foundation: I believe that there are 3 separate mimic programs active through the game.

M1 or Fiona that is in the M.X.E.S. like machine

M2 or “Dispatch” who I suspect is stored in the data-diver storage

Mx or the endoskeleton that we are running away from that can hold either M1 or M2, or runs on its base programming of copying what it has seen

Also for brevity, I am under the impression that the moon.exe ending is the canon one. Which would mean that we escaped MCM with BOTH the Mimic endoskeleton and the data-diver and live to return them to Fazbear.

Last bit of disclaimers. I believe SotM takes place during the in-universe development of HW1 and before HW1 Vanessa tape recordings, and way before HW1 gameplay.

Why I believe Dispatch is Glitchtrap

So the entire premise of the game is for Arnold to go into MCM and retrieve Fazbear property after Edwin goes dark.

From the sounds of it Edwin died a good while ago, long enough for Fazbear to send 12 separate teams to go and collect the Mimic only to be murdered. And make no mistake, Fazbear is not going for the prototypes and blueprints. While they are not going to turn them down, they mainly want M2 after an MCM employee snitched.

With all that said, that means Fazbear now has two copies of M2— one from the schematics taken from the security office, and a fully functional version aka “Dispatch”.

How does M2 get onto the Data-Diver?

This one is simple. M2 is deeply integrated with the technology of MCM. Every time we plug in our data-diver to the computer, M2 has access to it.

“If he is on our data-diver, how can we only hear him in the office clearly? Shouldn’t he be able to talk anywhere?”

Yes. And he does. If we refuse to give up the data-diver, M2 talks to us the entire way to Fiona. Like he is speaking from our data-diver.

“Why does he need us to get the schematics if he has access?”

He doesn’t have access. To get the schematics, you need executive clearance, which M2 does not have. In fact, if you follow “Dispatch”’s instructions, he asks you to turn over the data-diver and you leave. Even in this case scenario, Fazbear will send another technician, and return the data-diver to Fazbear custody.

How does M2 get in Help Wanted and become Glitchtrap?

In tape 5, Vanessa talks about how Fazbear dropped off some circuit boards and other electronic parts. It is not a far stretch to believe that one of the tech given is a hard drive that contains schematics, logs, and other useless things. A piece of tech that has a strange code that has a mind of its own and wants to take control of whatever program it is in.

Both Glitchtrap and “Dispatch” want complete control of a program, and both use the player as a tool to access more clearance. The only thing that changed is the pool of information that M2 has access to.

With the abundance of Fazbear atrocities, it is easy to conform to the idea of the manipulative, ambitious, and—according to the logs on the data-diver—someone charismatic and successful.

This is probably a common idea and nothing revolutionary, but I wanted to put all my thoughts on this in one spot.

Honestly, I kinda like the idea that Henry isn't this "Oh poor innocent man who can do no wrong" the fandom often made him out to be. A more morally grey or perhaps even antagonistic personality adds so much more to him.

HOW SOTM EXPLAINED SOME OF THE FNAF LORE HOLES (major spoilers)

I feel like we need to talk about how much info on the lore and world building of FNAF in general Secret Of The Mimic has explained. Obv there is so much stuff in there that I won't be covering it all but I have a few things I would like to talk about.

1 - William Afton having a vent to Sister Loction's bunker IN HIS HOUSE (EXPLAINED)

This was probably one of craziest info back in the old FNAF days that didn't make much sense to regular person in the fandom. Because let's be real it sounded unreal, because it would mean that William's house was build next to Sister Location. But now with SOTM out, we actually have an reasonable explanation for this within the mails you can find in game.

First of all William and Henry (Fazbear Entertaiment) were one of the clients for MCM (which was Edwin's Company who made and sold designs to other companies like we see below):

Which means they knew each other pretty well, they were close bussiness partners. Now, neither William nor Henry had their home anywhere close to their creations (like the whole idea of William living next to SL) but do you know who does? EDWIN. In the game we literally enter his house that is part of MCM whole property! Now you may be thinking, okay but how does this connect the whole vent to SL thing? Well let's look at some mails:

From this mail we get info that in act of desperation since MCM was going bankrupt with Edwin not being able to hold it together, he has sold the property to Fazbear Entertaiment (William Afton and Henry). And since Edwin's house is connected to the company's land/property William (WA) send him the email where he assured the deal was fair and square and that Fazbear Ent. would not touch his family house. Okay but, if William said the house was still Edwin's, how does it contribute to the explanation?

Well...There are two more mails regarding this matter:

And surprise, surprise...Fazbear Ent. LIED! Who would have thought that William Afton the fair and amazing bussness man had lied? Now you might be thinking, okay but first of all who the hell send this email? And why would William even want Edwin's house in the first place, the guy surely could afford better house for his family to settle in nearby!

Well this person is no one another than FIONA, or rather M1, the A.I. version of FIONA. The binary code translates to "SAD".

Now okay, but that still doesn't explain why would Fazbear Ent. want Edwin's house in the first place nor if William really did end up living there with his family...Well it actually does!

Take a look at this:

Yet again this email was also sent by FIONA (M1). Notice how she says "MY HOME". Because ladies and gentelmen the first created Mimic that was FIONA was placed in no other place than EDWIN'S HOUSE. William wanted the house for himself or rather for Fazbear Ent. because the A.I. WAS THERE!

Also the binary translates to "HOME".

FIONA is found by Arnold near Edwin's house!

Not only that, since M1 emotionally manipulated Edwin into creating M2 ("David") it meant THE SECOND Mimic who was extremly helpful for costumes (which would come in handy for Fazbear Ent.) was also in THE SAME HOUSE. And how do we know that? Well just look at this:

2- William having cameras in Crying Child's bedroom from FNAF 4 (EXPLAINED)

Yes, yes this is what you think. This is a bedroom from FNAF 4.

And this confirms the fact that William moved into Edwin's house with his family, because this used to be David's (M2) bedroom before it became Crying Child's in FNAF 4 (which would also explain the cameras in C.C.'s room, they were there to monitor M2 by Edwin and possibly by FIONA).

So to sum it up, yes William did have vents to SL in his house, because it used to be Edwin's house that was next to MCM factory that was lately probably rebuild by William and probably Henry to become Pizzerias from other games. And it also explains why the heck there were cameras in the child's bedroom.

Theories Time!!

- I think Henry used to work at MCM before.

And I think this mail is from William to Henry.

William wanted to steal all of Edwin's works, so he contacted Henry, and from all the tapes in SotM, Edwin mentioned Henry twice (if I remember correctly). If you don't count Fiona and David, who are already important family members to Edwin, I think Henry is someone Edwin trusts and they definitely work together.

And judging from William's email, which included a sweet deal to manage his new franchise location, it's possible that the person William contacted was Henry.

And it seems that before all this William was the sole owner of the company (maybe like Edwin got it from his father or maybe he created it himself) but now that the company is at its lowest point he is tempted to steal Edwin's work and Henry agrees to help him in exchange for a better opportunity (running a new franchise as per the offer).

- Maybe Henry didn't like Edwin and was thinking of leaving anyway, plus William offered him an offer, so he didn't hesitate to stab Edwin in the back or something like that. It seems that the employees at MCM were also dissatisfied with Edwin's management, plus Edwin was starting to have a bad mental health after losing his wife and then his child..

Still mimicposting but this one is either a theory or I’m just stating the obvious or someone already said this but.

So. The audio log where Edwin tells the Mimic (I’m guess M2, but I’ll get there) that it should stop acting like David because it isn’t David is likely right before he beats it. And we know that transferred from books to games because of “I was always going to fix you” and like “I lost my temper” parts.

But there’s also a part where he says something similar to Mimic!Fiona. I don’t remember exactly but it was something about never wanting to see her again because she’s not the real Fiona (after she suggests making a Mimic!David). Which makes me think.

So there are definitely two mimics. One is David—or at least Fiona wants him to be—and one is Fiona/Sun/fake dispatch.

The tape about Edwin hearing Fiona’s voice could be ghost stuff, but most ghost stuff in this game seems to relate to David (via ghost tiger) rather than Fiona. Which makes me think, what if he built the Mimic1/M1 before Fiona died. He likely left it as a program/digital platform/etc. to use in Stay Up Latte and stuff. But then, after Fiona dies, it starts to copy her. So he builds M1 a computer (F1 0N4/Sun) to train it to become Fiona, and gives her a physical body.

He then duplicates the Mimic (M2) to have a David babysitter. M1 goes to fetch David for a birthday party, and he dies (probably from hopping the fence after losing his ball, but it’s unclear).

M2 begins to mimic David, and this upsets Edwin enough to destroy it and teach it violence. I don’t know what he does with M2, but I feel like it was broken before M1. But, when M1 continues to suggest repairing M2 so it can be the new David, Edwin realizes mimics aren’t actually real, human family, and destroys M1’s body, confining it to the digital world.

Eventually, M2 (somehow) gets revenge, and likely kills Edwin. Unclear on what happens next.

M1 fakes being Dispatch, likely to A) stop M2’s routine killing of employees, and B) get the schematics so it can fix M2 and they can be a proper family.

I think this might also explain why Glitchtrap seems to share aspects with the mimic despite conflicting with it at times. Glitchtrap is M1, the programming implemented throughout the Pizzaplex. What Cassie finds under the Pizzaplex (however it gets there) is M2.

Fiona and David. But also, not Fiona and David anymore.

SOTM spoiler theory about how the Daycare Attendant ended up with their role in the Pizzaplex

Okay so y'all know those Star Orphan night lights we have to carry around throughout the game? These little guys:

They gave me an idea:

It's always felt kinda random to me how the Daycare Attendant got switched from the Fazbear Theater to the daycare in the Pizzaplex. Like, why the daycare? I guess they were already working in the daycare theater so it wasn't far off, but why not give them any other role? I think these little guys are the reason. What if these little night lights are what gave management the idea to 1) put the theater in a daycare in the first place and 2) give the Daycare Attendant a caregiver role when they were repurposed. Like, Moon already existed as Sleepy Moon back in 1979, and with the theming of these little guys and their role as a night light it's not unreasonable to assume that they were related to Moon in some way even back then. So when Fazco decided to redesign Sun and Moon for the Pizzaplex, they could've been chosen for a daycare section specifically because of their role in the past having been similar. It is called the Superstar Daycare, after all (yes yes, Freddy also calls us superstar and it's probably got to do with stardom more than literal stars but bear with me here).

Like, this makes their decision to make Sun and Moon the mascot of the Daycare make so much more sense! Moon was already tied to napping and being in charge of little Star children in the past, which you can easily translate to taking care of literal children. Also the fact that they're called orphans strikes me as noteworthy. Maybe Moon took them under his wing after they lost their parents/were abandoned? But why don't they have any parents? I don't think this is a reference to David, since he never becomes an orphan. His parents were the ones to lose him, not the other way around. Or maybe the Star Children are some fucked up metaphor for kids who died and since their parents are still alive now have nobody to care for them in the afterlife? Some people believe that dead people become stars in the sky... Okay maybe that's a tad of a reach actually.

Either way, I think the Star Ophan night lights were related to Moon back then, which inspired Fazco to later make their version of Sun and Moon take care of their own of "little stars".

Haven't made one of these in a while but tbh, I actually 100% agree, i think William and henry DID create the springlocks and edwin just perfected the new designs by making versions where you wont get absolutely killed if something happens but then tragedy/ the mimic struck and he ended up not being able to finsh them or send them out so William and Henry just stuck with using the original ones from fredbears/ probably fall fest and that's one's we see William use for MCI and etc, as for characters however, I honestly think that aside from Foxy, Roxy, chica and monty, as well as probably mr and mystic hippo and even the entire mediocre melody's and as well as even the Puppet, fredbear and springbonnie were in fact William and Henry's creations and in the end Fazbear Ent or rather William just stole everything else that belonged to Edwin, including his own character's and probably his house, since we've never heard of MCM before, because it's no longer around, idk in my opinion it seems that Fazbear Ent or William just erased all existence of it to begin with or caused it to go bankrupt due to how many changes they requested in the end but anyway those are just my thoughts, whatdya guys think?

Explanation/ lore stuff for sotm! Small tdlr and speculation.!

Also small clarification of MCM and Fazbear ENT’s business deals and if things were stolen or not.

MCM is a family owned business orginally handed down to Edwin by his father, doing well and as well being a collaborative businesses. Mcm collabs with fazbear ent since fazbear ent commissions them (aka, giving characters and the mcm makes or forms ideas with them) and vice versa, Fazbear ent still has their own original characters but as well once MCM goes under due to Edwin’s insanity, fazbear ent gains ownership of the mcm characters (Roxy, Monty, moon, sun, mr hippo/ most of the mediocre melodies.)

Edwin when he was in the process of making floats and or a major project for fazbear entrainment, Fiona his wife specifically dies in a fire (fall-fest 1970?maybe? Unsure.) its implied that the endoskeleton was suppose to be made for fazbear ent, but because of Edwin making the Fiona AI, it branched as the M2 (mimic) as Edwin treated it like his dead wife, then David died and thus the M2 started acting like David, in which Edwin beat and drove himself to insanity and thus caused the M2 to basically disconnect from the Fiona AI. The mimic later kills Edwin in his office paralyzing him and mimicking as him once the company goes under.

The Fiona ai being deep and hidden within the basement is MXES, according to stop the M2. Fazbear ent once again gets ownership and goes to claim their property, in which sending multiple recovery teams to get the specific prints. Multiple workers died and Arnold the one you play as seems to be the last one or at least the one to make it out depending on the ending you get.

sorry if certain events are a bit wrong, I was gathering this in scrambled notes and put it all together.

quick tdlr though I want people to understand

William and Henry did not steal the MCM designs, foxy and chica are still there’s, it seems that CPW was COMMISSIONED and so were the animatronics down in the basement, changes were made in the plan, Fazbear ent showed what they wanted, and by the collaboration, MCM produced, it explains why Edwin went on a whole deal in a few audio recording about the tapes and how the designs were changed and the newer ones look “creepy.“ (could allude to the withereds perhaps?)

but that’s just speculation and my interpretations! Repost for some more traction or tell us what ya think!

I REALLY love Ash and Tom's theory that Henry originally worked for Edwin, but he stole the ideas for William, who subsequently invited Emily to work at Fazbear Entertainment, it KILLS ME.

I saw a post that said "No wonder Glam Freddy and Bonnie weren't infected with the virus because they weren't originally Murray animatronics" and I actually... don't think that makes a lot of sense?

I personally think it was the "Safe mode" aspect being on that's protecting Freddy (and Bonnie, I guess?) from the Mimic's murderous program, but in exchange for it being on, it consumes A TON of battery life. You could even go as far as to say that it's not actually Freddy's battery that's draining, it's just the safe mode system that constantly needs recharging. That's why Freddy jumpscares you when he's low powered enough.

It's also why hunter animatronics like Glam Chica, Monty and Roxy don't go to recharge stations as often as Freddy does during the night. Because their safety modes are NOT on during the night, and with those being turned off, the Mimic has a full-blown influence on them. At least, that's how it seems to me.
