I Even Brought You a Treat
"Alright, buddy," Tim whispers. He crouches to Kojo's level, wedged awkwardly between the dog's nose and the door. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out an envelope, smoothing it across his thigh. "Hold this."
Kojo takes the envelope, holding it in his teeth, and wiggles his butt back and forth across the carpet. Tim stands up and nudges a cardboard box in front of his paws.
"Stay." He points at the dog, then grins when he stills. "Good boy."
He knocks on the door then ducks behind the corner a couple of apartments down.

Hellowww Dear Reader, and welcome to chapter five! I didn't forget to post today AND I made a little header for my fic?? What is happening to meee? Jokes aside, we have officially reached the first ever breaking point! Yaaay! (Don't worry there will be many more to come hehe.) Tell me what you think about this chapter, please, I love to hear all your thoughts! Happy sankthans / midsummer for everyone (*´ω`*) Cry, Baby masterlist
chapter five - abandonment.
Its face is hideous. Red irises envelope the burning hunger which sets the trees and buildings near him on fire. It grins, smirks, then bares its teeth so wide you see every single sharp bone in his mouth. Blood is splattered through its face and pink hair. Its snaring mouth lets out a sound between a laugh and a growl. Inferno surrounds it, as it draws back its bow, made of Hell’s fire…
Your eyes popped open, and you sat up.
The monster… curse, is back in your dreams.
But… he looked different.
You closed your eyes for a moment, then looked at your phone. 6.07 AM, not too bad. You could call Gojo soon and it wouldn’t be too impolite. Well, your first call to him was at the middle of the night, so you guessed that it didn’t really matter now.
You got up, because although you liked to sleep well into the morning, something told you it would not be wise to fall back asleep while that curse haunts your dreams again. So you walked to your drawer, pulled up a fresh set of clothes, and got dressed. You went to the kitchen. Your mother was still alseep, so you got started on some breakfast for the both of you. She has not been getting enough sleep during the past two weeks with you, also while working shifts late into the night. Yesterday, she had one of those shifts, so usually she would only get up around ten o’clock. Oh well. You’d make some breakfast for her later, then.
You made yourself some onigiris – it was not breakfast-material, but you couldn’t help yourself, that was one of your favourite comfort foods after all – and leaned to the counter while you ate. You glanced at the clock in the corner: 6.52. Reaching for your phone, you collected your memories from last night’s dreams to share it with Gojo while punching the ’call’ button.
"Moshi-moshi, Shidou-chaan!" He picked up after a few rings. Was this man always available, or was it your non-existent luck that he would always pick up within seconds?
"Good morning, Gojo-san," you greeted him, swallowing some rice. You suddenly heard a loud thud on the other side of the line and some cursing. "Am I calling at a bad time…? I can call you back, it’s not urgent…"
"Oh no, not at all!" He practically sang, while more heavy crashes, bangs and cusses echoed in the background. Your brows furrowed while someone screamed ’Get back here, you lousy asshole!!’ He, however, sounded absolutely unbothered while continuing your conversation. "What can I do for you?"
"Uh, I was just calling because it’s… Ryomen is back in my dreams. Whatever you did is starting to lose its effect," you explained, and you heard a hum.
"I see, I see." You were pretty sure he was blind though. "I wanted to talk to you anyway, would you mind coming to Yoyogi Park again? At noon?"
"Alright, I’ll be there. Thank you."
"Anything for you!" he chirped. ’Fuck you, don’t go speaking on the phone while I’m trying to whoop you! Get your ass back here so I can beat you properly!!’ You heard, and you were quite confused, but didn’t ask what was happening. "See you in a few hours, then!"
He hung up quickly as you heard a series of roaring though the phone. You were dumbfounded, blinked a few times, then went back to your onigiri. Ah, tsuna-mayo really is the best!
A few hours later, you were on your phone to text Yamaguchi about the news. You knew he was still mad about you not consulting him last time, and because of the glasses too, which you now wore all the time. You didn’t want to disappoint your friend.
You texted him good morning and told him about the dream you had and that you called Gojo. You texted him the time and place of the meeting, so he was fully informed. And sure enough, he replied within moments.
Yama-mama: Are you sure you want to do this? You don’t even know these people.
Yorrr: Yes but he helped me. I have to give this a chance Yama-kun
Yama-mama: There must be other options you can explore.
Yorrr: I don’t think so
Yama-mama: OK…
Yama-mama: Just please be safe.
Yama-mama: Should I go with you?
Yorrr: No but thank you. I think I can handle it
Yama-mama: Call me if there’s anything wrong.
Yorrr: Tanks. But dw I’m gonna be okay ;D
A small smile made it’s way to your lips. Even though it was sometimes a hassle, Yamaguchi cared, and you were grateful for that.
You went to your room and decided to read some manga to comfort you and to pass the time. You happened to pull out Solo Leveling from your dedicated manga, manhwa and manhua shelf, and you let another smile warm up your face. You shot a quick picture of it in your hands and sent it to Yamaguchi with a text that read, ’Gonna pass some time, wanna join?’ Co-reading the same manhwa at the same time but at different places was something you liked to do together. It was alone time, but not lonely time.
He didn’t read your message, but you still plopped down to your bed and started reading. You went on, chapter after chapter, and when you were done, you pulled out another manga and started reading that. A few minutes passed, then half an hour, and the next thing you knew you heard your mother shuffle around in the living room. Is it that late already? You looked at your phone, and sure enough, it was already over ten PM.
Suddenly you remembered that you were yet to explain the whole situation to her. You never told her about sneaking out of the house at three AM, and you sure as hell not going to share this info with her now. But you needed to come up with something plausible. You took a deep breath, put down your read, and walked to the kitchen.
By the way your mother carried herself and behaved, you were genuenly surprised she didn’t have any curses stuck on her. But you were thankful you didn’t have to explain this whole shamanism-ish looking thing you were starting to dig yourself into while begging her to let you try to dance to (exorcise) some awful looking creature she could absolutely not see. And God forbid you give her the glasses, that would just lead to even more problems. You had enough on your hands as it is.
You put the glasses with the case into your pocket as strolled into the kitchen, seeing your mother much on the pancakes you made a few hours ago. "Goofowwihg," she said, mouth full, eyes still half asleep. Good, if she’s sleepy, she’s not that snappy.
"Good morning to you too, mom," you said with a small smile. "How’d you sleep?"
"Hoof," she answered, and you snickered. "Thaff fow we fawhafef," You attempted to translate the sentence to ’thanks for the pancakes’. It was good you made them, now she’s a little more satisfied. This is going to be easier.
"I’m glad, then," you poured her some coffee. "You know how I’ve been sleeping better these past few days?" You asked, and you saw her nodding calmly while stuffing her face with more pancakes topped with strawberry jam. As much as this was a hard topic, you couldn’t help but giggle at the sight. Then you continued. "So it’s all because of a sleep specialist I met a few days ago. He showed me some tricks which are apparently working. I’m meeting him today again, around noon, so I won’t be home for an hour maybe. I don’t know how long our talk is gonna be."
She swallowed the bite and looked at you. "What’s his price? If it’s working, it must not be cheap..."
"Don’t worry about that, I’ve got it covered," you assured her, and she blinked. "I have some money set aside, I’m gonna pay him. And he’s still undiscovered by the major audience so his pay is not that high."
"Don’t be ridiculous, I’m your mother. It’s my job to cover these things for you." She walked to the living room and pulled out her wallet from her bag.
"No, mom, really. It’s fine," you said, but she just sushed you.
"Here’s some for today, you come back and tell me if it was enough. If not, I’ll give you more next time. Understood?"
"Mom, seriously..."
"Understood?"
You looked at her stern gaze, and you smiled softly. You silently took the money from her hand and promised yourself to buy her something nice from this. It was true, once she made up her mind there was nothing that could make her change it. You were sad that she only acted like this when there were emergencies, but... it was not so bad. Both of you had your ups and downs, separately or together.
"Thanks," you said, and went to hug her. She embraced you and patted your hair.
"Jeez, you’ve almost outgrown me and I’m considered tall," she snickered. "My little daughter."
But what it translated to your hand was this: ’I’m proud of you for managing your life so well.’
Your breath hitched, and you hugged her tighter.
She broke the hug a few seconds later. She has never been a touchy person, but you didn’t mind. She let you have these moments and you were greatful for that.
She went back to the counter to eat some more pancakes, and you headed back to your room, tears – happy tears, this time – collecting in your eyes, to put away the money.
Just to see your window shatter to pieces, showering you in shards of glass.
You didn’t see anything...
The glasses!
You quickly grabbed them and put them on.
It would have been better if you had not done that.
Before you, towered a green, tall, and large curse. It had many eyes, blood running from all of them, five arms and three mouths. You froze, eyes widening. You knew you did not have the tools, nor the technique to exorcise that.
You screamed and ran out of your room. Your mother snapped her head at you, but before she could have spoken, you yanked her away from the kitchen, toward the front door.
It was still locked!
"Yori, what are you-?!"
"Open the door!" You shrieked, lookig back to see the huge curse moving after you. It was not fast, but it was damn large. At least seven feet tall and three feet wide. If it blocks your way, you’re never gonna get out!
You heard your mother shuffle with the keys and the front door was opened. You practically fell out to the street, dragging her after you. The curse sped up and you were absolutely terrified. Your phone, you need to call-!
Only to realize you left it in your room.
"Yori, what the fuck-?!"
Your mother didn’t even finish her sentence, still running further away from your house. The curse now found a new target – a pedestrian walking his dog. The poor guy screamed as he got crushed by the monster. You wanted to vomit at the sight of blood, flesh and bones splattering across the sidewalk. What the fuck, what the fuck!
You couldn’t move – it was your mother who forced you to keep running. Now more people were running. "You phone," you managed to blurt out. She was so terrified she didn’t even ask why, she just dumped it into your hand.
You tried to remember Gojo’s number to the best of your ability, and you messed up two times, but managed to dial it on the third time. It rang, and thankfully he picked up.
"Moshi-mo-"
"Gojo-san, a huge curse is tearing down my home and it already killed a man, please help!" You cried, sobbing and trembling as you ran away from the scene, your mother’s hand still enveloped in yours.
"Where are you? I’m leaving now," he said, wasting no time, calling out to someone. You told him the address. "Keep running, get as far as you can. It’ll take a bit of time to get there, I’ll send someone else too. Do you have the mini-bos?"
"Yeah," you answered shakily.
"Good. They’re not gonna be of any help, do not attempt to use them. Just run, do you understand?"
You sobbed out a yes. You knew it already, but hearing that even that little equipment you had was completely useless was hard to hear. "Stay strong and run, don’t look back," he said and hung up.
Suddenly, your mother halted and let out a whimper. "Yori, what are these things?"
You looked up.
There was another curse, right in front of you.
And this one was much bigger.
You shook with fear as you tried to pull her back, but she didn’t let you. Your mother maneuvered her arms to get you behind her as best as she could. You could see her hands tremble. How could she see them?
The curse sarted to walk toward you two with staggering steps. Your mouth dried out.
You saw something flash before your eyes...
You were just in time to yank your mother away from the hit the curse wanted to deal to her. What was that just now? Your body acted on its own as if...
You had no more time to think about it as you drew her away from the monster, sprinting to the opposite direction. You saw a few people running, screaming, as well as a few torn bodies lying on the ground. The green blob was a lot closer than you had anticipated.
The second curse somehow almost caught up to you, it was faster than the first one despite its size. Even though Gojo told you to leave the rods alone, you pulled them out just in case. A little is better than nothing. You ran and ran, the monster trotting after you relentlessly. You had to do something or else you’re not gonna make it!
You felt your mother and yourself start to run out of breath. You have been running around for almost ten minutes now and your legs were not in the best shape. Adrenaline fueled both of you, but it was starting to take a toll.
You took a left, and you were too late to realize it was a dead end. The curse already cornered you. You held out the rods, hoping for some magic to happen.
"E-e-eee-eaaat..."
Your blood froze.
The curse spoke.
It spoke.
Its voice was shaky and uneven, but the words were recognizable. It said eat.
Eat you.
Eat you and your mother.
You let out a small cry while standing beside your mom.
Just when you thought it was over for you both, somebody made the curse let out a shriek that you’re never gonna forget for the rest of your life. It was knocked off its feet and slashed across its body. Before it could have moved more, it got a final cut and disappeared into thin air in the form of black smoke.
The man that remained in its place wore a light coloured suit and had blonde hair. In his hand rested a wrapped item, which seemed to be similar to a butcher’s knife. He pushed his glasses further up his nose, then looked back at your terrified silhouettes.
It took him only a moment to recognize the sticks in your hands. He frowned.
"Where did you get those?" He asked, inching closer to you. Your mother stepped forward, pushing you behind herself. The man stopped. "Oh, are you Yoriko Shidou? Satoru Gojo sent me."
You were still in shock, but managed to nod your head yes. He stepped closer again. "Good. I need you to come with me now."
"Over my dead body, you’re not taking my daughter anywhere," your mother hissed.
"I-it’s okay, mom, he helped us," you point out.
"Yes, and we are really greatful, but there’s another monster lurking aorund our house. Don’t you need to deal with that first?" She questioned.
"It’s being taken care of right this moment," he replied, then averted his gaze back to you. "I’m sorry, but we can’t take your mom with us, Shidou-san," then he looks at your mother again. "I promise you she’ll be safe."
"Horseshit," she says. "You’re jujutsu sorcerers, right? I know you are trouble."
Your jaw drops. What?! How does she know about them?!
The man also looks shocked for a moment, then puts back his poker face. "Madam, I really don’t want trouble."
"Mom, what the hell?" You sputtered.
"Stay back, Yoriko, I’m not letting them take you away from me."
"Mom, wait, what..."
"Fine, fine. I’m backing up," he said, hands held up. His eyes met yours for a moment." But you should know that it was your daughter who sought us out."
Your mom huffed. "Yes, we’re gonna talk about that later, Yori."
"Wait a damn second, wait a fucking second!" You exclaimed finally. Both of them looked at you. "What the hell is happening?? Mom, how do you know about jujutsu sorcerers? And you, mister, why would you want to take me away? And where?"
"I’ll tell you later, as soon as you tell me how you came in contact with them," your mother snarled. Okay, ouch.
"I, however cannot tell you where we’re going. You’ll need to trust Gojo-san for that," the blonde replied, and your mom snapped.
"Absolutely fucking not. Now please walk away, and I would like you all sorcerers to never disturb my family, ever again."
She then grabbed your hands and started to drag you across the street, as far from the unfamiliar man as possible. You yanked your hand out of hers, but she got a hold of it again and continued to pull. "No, mom, stop!" You begged, but to no avail. You could see her face, contorted in a furious grimace.
"I am not stopping, and you better be coming with me!"
"Mom, wait!"
"Shut your mouth if you didn’t manage to open it up until now!"
"Mom!"
"Fine then!" she shouted, and turned back to you. Your eyes widened – it has been awfully long since you saw her like that. Since you saw her absolutely lose her mind and just explode.
"If you want to go and get yourself killed, then go! I protected you for eighteen long years, but seems like you don’t care about that anymore. What a thanks I get! You are the best daughter I could have ever wished for – absoutely useless, constantly ill and costs a fucking fortune just to keep alive. I hope you die like Minato, alone and helpless. Then you will see the worth of my protection, but you won’t have it anymore. You’re the child I never wished for – you’re not my daughter anymore."
Every single word hit you like a freight train. You just stood there, taking it all in, weeping silently as your mother spat insult after insult, all cuts to your fragile heart that just started to heal a bit.
You couldn’t believe it.
But... it was the truth.
You felt that you were never wanted. Everything made sense now. How she looked at you disgusted, how she did just the bare minimum for you, and how she only helped you when she felt pity towards you. You felt like the past two weeks you two made huge progress, but seems like it was all just a façade.
It was all for nothing.
She was already gone when you fell to your knees, still crying, fat tears running down your face. You felt two strong arms catch you before you could have hit your knees, but you didn’t care. Nothing mattered. Nothing mattered anymore.
You should have just gone and killed yourself that night a few days ago. If you had done that, you wouldn’t be in this much pain now. No, you deserved that, you made her go through so much, it was your fault, your fault alone.
You knew your mother would be happy if you were gone.

Kento Nanami couldn’t believe his eyes and ears.
The girl in front of him collapsed after her mother virtually disowned her and told her she ruined everything. It was brutal, and cruel. Just so cruel.
He rushed to catch you as you fell. You were in pieces, absolutely crushed, crying in silence. He was never an emotional man, but seeing the scene, he wished he had the ability to calm you and tell you that everything was gonna be okay.
But everything was not going to be okay, he knew that very well.
You were weak and vulnerable, the damage dealt to you by your own mother was a lot. He picked you up from the pavement – you were so lightweight – and waited, making sure wherever that woman went, she was out of your sight. Only after a few minutes did he realize that you had to leave the scene and stepped out to the street.
The destruction that followed the two curses that got loose was immense. At least ten people were lying around dead, but he paid them little attention while searching for Gojo.
Just a few minutes later Gojo noticed you two and lifted his hand to wave, but then he saw you being carried my Nanami. "Is she hurt...?" He asked when you two reached him.
"Not physically," he answered, voice low. He let out an unaudible sigh.
"Hello, Shidou-chan. Don’t worry, we’ve got you now," the man spoke softly. He saw as you tried to swallow the lump in your throat to greet him, but you failed.
Just like you failed her, a voice said in your head.
Gojo looked at Nanami. "Ijichi-san is parking a few blocks away, I'll take her to the car."
"It’s fine," he said, his grip softening on you.
"...Then I’ll take you there."
The walk was silent and short, you got into the car without a fuss. You never stopped crying, Nanami noticed. You looked horrible.
He closed the door and walked a few feet away with Gojo, where you couldn’t hear or see them. "What happened?" Gojo asked, and Nanami sighed.
"I tried to convince her and her mother for Shidou-san to come with me. Her mother knows about jujutsu sorcerers for some reason," Gojo lifted an eyebrow to that statement, "and hates our guts apparently. Shidou-san objected when she wanted to take her away, and right on the spot her mother practically disowned her. It was awful," he grunted. "Now poor girl is traumatized to the core."
"Huh," he replied, not knowing what to say to that.
"What do we do with her now? I don’t think her mother wants her back after that," asked Nanami. Gojo thought for a moment.
"Well, I wanted to recruit her anyway because she could be useful against Sukuna. It’s sad she has fallen into our lap like this, but at least she did, so let’s do something with this opportunity," he said, taking his phone out, and texted someone. "I’ll have Ijichi-san bring her to the school, we’ll decide what and how when we get her and she took a breather. We need to clean up here a bit."
"Alright," nodded Nanami.
"Would you mind perhaps going with her? A familiar face might help, but I’m quite busy, and as you know,” he lowered his voice, "I can’t call Yuji-san here."
It was yesterday that Yuji magically came back to life. Gojo and Nanami still couldn’t wrap their heads around how Sukuna could have brought him back, but they knew it had to have a price, they just didn’t know what, yet.
Nanami nodded. He didn’t really want to go, but what else could he have done? He had some simpathy for you and understood what Gojo meant. He got into the car, taking the backseat on your right. You were next to him, staring blankly to nothingness. You looked like you were one breath away form crying again. He couldn’t blame you.
The car ride was silent, he had no idea if his presence would comfort you in some way, and he was anxious as to what to do.
"Do you want to... talk about it?" He asked then, softly.
You swallowed and shook your head no. But your words fell out of your mouth faster than you could have stopped them, or maybe you were slow to control yourself. "It… was not a surprise, just... it hurt. Sorry you had to watch that."
"Don’t worry about that."
Nanami averted his gaze, and there was silence for a few minutes.
He then looked back. "I’m sorry, I didn’t even introduce myself. I’m Kento Nanami."
You looked at his hand for a second. "Pleasure to meet you, and thank you... for saving us."
"It’s nothing," he answered, because really, that curse was nothing compared to the emotional terror you just went through.
"Excuse me, as well, I’m Yoriko Shidou," you said, targeting your words also for the black haired man in the driver’s seat.
"Hello, Shidou-san. I’m Kiyotaka Ijichi," he smiled at you softly from the mirror. You reciprocated it faintly.
The car grew silent for a moment before you spoke again. "What is going to happen to me now?"
Nanami didn’t know how to answer that question. So he settled for the truth. "We don’t know yet. We’re going to get you to safety now, and decide later."
You didn’t reply to that. You kept quiet for a moment before you spoke again. "You know, I called Gojo today. I had another dream about Sukuna, I wanted to talk to him about that. This dream was... different. It… Ryomen had pink hair and red eyes... now that I think about it, it looked a bit like Itadori-san."
Nanami flashed his eyes to you. Did you know that Itadori was Sukuna’s vessel? Was Gojo that stupid to tell you? Hopefully not... if yes, they might be in trouble.
But if no...
Gojo told Nanami a little about you, how you were haunted by Sukuna-centered historical nightmares. And he also told you that you might have something in store for them, if they can grasp what it is and polish it, you could be very useful to their case.
But these were just big ifs. As far as he knew, you were completely ordinary up until three weeks ago.
Did this dream of yours perhaps have a connection of Yuji coming back from the dead?
He realized he needed to do a little digging.
"What else do you remember?" He asked, hoping to find more clues. You hummed and shook your head.
"Well, that dream was short, I only saw Ryomen for a few moments. But it was drawing some sort of arrow. It seemed like it was entirely made from flames. Its gaze was... terrifying," you shivered.
Nanami was taken aback.
Does that mean that Sukuna might have fire-using abilities?
No, he must not be getting ahead of himself. Nothing is certain, this whole thing needs investigating.
"Oh and... it’s not connected to the dream but..." You fidgeted around while he litsened intently. "Uh, never mind."
"No, please. Anything could be important."
You shiged. "Well, when we were running away from that second curse... there was a moment when it wanted to deal a blow to me and... and mother. And I felt like... I moved to the left. My body knew it was going to come from the right. Now, it might be nothing, I’m not claiming to have anything supernatural or something," the more you spoke, the more red your face became in embarassment. "I just... it felt like I have been in this situation already. I have never had déjà vu before, not even once. And my mother wanted to move to the left. I saw a picture in my head where the curse attacks from the right... Oh God, it sounds stupid, I shouldn’t have spoken," you quickly covered your face, ears red as Nanami observed you.
It really didn’t sound too much at first glance, but given the circumstances – the dreams, Nanami could not overlook the fact that you basically told him you got a glimpse of the near future to avoid death.
It was not nothing.
"Thank you, Shidou-san. It might help us," he assured you.
You glanced up at him, surprised at his words. "Help us? How?"
"I don’t know yet. But every bit of infomation could be a piece of a bigger puzzle we’re not able to see just yet. So you never know."
Nanami saw how you looked at your hands, holding a pair of glasses in it.
Your face was sad. So endlessly, terribly, heartbreakingly sad.
But you put the glasses back on.

I AM DYING THIS ART GUYS- (I can't give credit to the og artist cuz I couldn't find it I'm so sorry 🙏)

It’s so hard to get into Wincest because the fans feel insecure because they feel Sam isn’t ‘as insane about Dean’ so they try to do everything in order to be like ‘no don’t you see?? Sam is just as ‘insane’ about Dean but is just a big hypocrite about it’… one of the worst cases of this imo is how everyone completely brushes off and invalidates Sam’s feelings in s9 because ‘he locked Dean up and forced him into a life-threatening procedure because he can’t stand being away from Dean for two seconds’. But ig I can’t blame them because s10 itself is about ‘making it up to Dean’ (no, look, Sam is just as dark as Dean, actually even worse and also Sam is such a big hypocrite because he too would do anything to save Dean and was just being a dick for no reasonable in s9…. But also for some reason can’t commit to it because what does Sam even do that is so terrible in comparison to stuff they do every single day?)
i recently spoke about this in the context of a post i saw about 9.13 that considered the possibility of interpreting sam's conversation with dean at the end of the episode as coming from a place of sam having failed to save dean previously so within the logic of this post, of course he would respond in denial to save dean! but i think this interpretation neglects to recognise the context of the language within the literal conversation they're having as directly related to something that happened to sam throughout the first eleven episodes of the season versus the hypothetical dean proposes of sam saving him in the same/a similar way. this interpretation of the scene is very obviously coming from an attempt to try to rationalise sam's reasoning from dean's perspective, from the power he holds both within the language usage of a hypothetical and the literal events as they occurred wrt to sam's body and the control dean had over their relationship, rather than understanding sam's experience and the aftermath quite literally as it happened to him. their conversation at the end of 9.12 already disproves this in sam saying, "we don't see things the same way anymore," as in there has been a fundamental lapse of judgement in exactly which aspects of myself you have imposed yourself upon—and not only does sam list them but even within past attempts to 'save'/opportunities of 'saving' dean have presented itself, sam has never gone as far as dean has gone within the scenario that they're discussing or that dean is presenting a hypothetical for. largely because sam doesn't have the authority to (wrt dean's hypothetical autonomy) and the closest he's ever come to it has been met with permanent corrective measures ahem 6.05 -> 6.07/6.11. it's almost as if they combine their dean-skewed view of seeing sam's attempt at setting a boundary, establishing his (struggle for) autonomy, of acknowledging the power dean held and weaponised within his decision as a (malicious) attempt at betrayal of/abandonment of/declaration of an entire withdrawal from their relationship with their inability to understand sam outside of the box of looking at dean's character and, by proxy, looking at sam either through dean or within the same box they look at sam with—sam's situational prioritisation of the self (largely over family because of their, largely dean's atp, perpetuation of family, their roles as an ultimatum synonymous with 'The Good Fight'(9.13) emulated from john) as an agency that is either not wholly fundamentally possible simply because this isn't something dean is largely able to do for himself or they view it as an inconsistent agency on sam's part—which is a negligent understanding of sam's character within its respective arcs at best and just an unfaithful reading clearly attempting to invalidate these agencies as they're presented to you within canonical, linear context in favour of recontextualising them entirely.
like i think it comes from this Thing i really really dislike about engaging with wincest interpretations that is a parroting of the same 'samndean-samdean belong together/samndean-samdean's Rightful place is beside each other' false yet presented as righteous idea that the (dean skewed aspect of the) narrative does because it neglects to recognise the watsonian factors that facilitate sam and dean into their relationship (familial/patriarchal authority, hunting ideals, sometimes literal facilitation a la soulless!sam's car being crushed or certain events playing out in a say that makes it impossible for them to separate) usually on account of a dean-skewed perspective and a general omission of sam's character motivations thereby nulliying any significant recognition of dean's responsibilities wrt the power dynamics of sam and dean's relationship. interpretations that bend over backwards by ignoring sam's character exploration as it plays out in canon in an effort to prioritise dean's fundamentally irrational perspective of what he wants their relationship to be that comes from a place or certain insecurity and present it as the rational standard for their relationship, thereby neglecting to recognise the differences in certain aspects of their experiences of their relationship esp wrt the power imbalance will always irk me. the narrative and sam himself does quite enough of that i just don't think you can get a full scope of their relationship or even the mechanics of the show and its real-world emulations this way. it's also just straight up boring and strikes me as heteronormative lmfao how are you gonna go into the gay incest ship and find value in the heteronormativity of uncritically adopting patriarchal ideals (rhetorical, don't answer that, i know why). like for some reason it is unfathomable for this interpretation to understand sam as either having different priorities than dean or reacting to his circumstances. they're foils for a Reason Imfao
personally i think it's fundamental to sam and dean's dynamic that they initially have different ideals as it relates to the winchester familial dynamic (and their relationship) and this is where the crux of their conflicts up until later-season nine lie. like dean believing and enforcing the synonymity of hunting with their relationship that was born with john's disapproval and exclusion of sam from the familial dynamic when sam expressed interest in a life away from hunting, dean folding himself into the version himself that made him the perfect extension of john as a result of his parentification while sam, infantalised and excluded, pursued the self and personal fulfilment external to the familial dynamic—dean has forfeit the self for the familial dynamic and therefore, to you, there must always be an aspect of sam's agency that is doing the same despite how canonically inconsistent that idea is but is believed because of the operation from dean's perspective through an omitting of sam's perspective and the attribution of it to either a canonically inaccurate facade (similar to what people do with soulless!sam and apply it to sams otherwise) or just claiming that it was entirely superficial all along. granted that sam's refusal to conform to john's familial ideal (unless he has no choice) does turn into his conforming to dean's (emulated from the original winchester familial dynamic) usually involving arcs proving that the ideal of sammy involves the compartmentalisation of invariable aspects of sam's identity on dean's behalf in a way that fundamentally undermine's sam's autonomy within different arcs, until sam eventually does fold himself into the Sammy ideal in favour of said autonomy. the same character that's called 'boring' in the later seasons. they're fundamentally enmeshed in ways that specifically spark internal conflict
to be honest it reflects an unexplored regurgitation of the same way that the show treats sam's autonomy. like the whole very repeated, "he MUST have wanted/liked it," thing it has going on despite representing the rational emotional responses to abuse—then attributing that to his otheredness and monstrosity—followed by either coercion or a straight up rejection, after which sam is presented without another option and ends up within any of the many literal or metaphorical cages on the show, there's an audience response of, "it Happened (neglecting to mention the process of How) so his consent much have been superficial (kinky cnc connotation) wow i love their freaky dynamic." it's very, "well what was she wearing?" or, "well they were married so..." in which they believe there's a precursor of being on the same page (revealing clothing = looking for sex, being married = consent perpetually granted, dean's ideal of their relationship (dependent on sam's lack of autonomy) being the standard for their interpretation = sam's agencies being disregarded sam must have also always had the same ideal for their relationship.
i also also said this in some tags recently + touched on it earlier in this very post but the fandom seems to have an interestingly difficult time perceiving sam's season arcs as cohesive to one another and affecting his future decisions as the show plays out like 'he locked dean up and forced him into a life-threatening procedure because he can't stand being away from dean for two seconds' is such a shallow and quite frankly, unfaithful, representation of 10.03 that clearly exists in order to be able to compare it to the panic room but like. it neglects to recognise 1) the goal post shifting aspect of early season ten in which the last time sam didn't pursue dean's ressurection after a perceivable death, it was a perspective that even he prioritised over his own for dean as dead and was the subject of much of the scrutiny sam received from people he cared about throughout the season. a lot of the way his and dean's dynamic worked throughout season eight directly relates to his devolving into suicidal ideation. it's a lot like season five, even! in which a perceivable betrayal of dean fundamentally changes the dynamic of their relationship and sam's role within it and influences sam's choice of funneling his suicidal ideation into his death for the 'common good'. anyway, to not pursue dean is seen as objectively the Wrong decision but also doing so seen as the objectively Wrong decision and even invovled the manipulation of responsibility of someone's life into the person to didn't kill them and even attempted to stop them at a point? goalpost shifting baybee. it isn't explicitly explored that in canon way but much of supernatural past 9.15 does not grant sam the narrative space to extend his directly experiences to others or to a place of a kind of audience acknowledgement that facilitates the comparison of synonymy of experience and it's just quite simply easy to compare them mainly based on the literal and metaphorical similarities of the circumstances (can i compare/contrast crowley and benny here or what) as well as subtextual similarities within the way that sam's decisions are presented to the audience specifically regarding the heavy emphasis on 10.02, "you're my brother and i'm here to take you home,"-adjacent ideals of and appeals to sam and dean's relationship dynamic plus what i've briefly described in 2) as it relates to dean's authoritative role and how it presents in for example the differences between how sam regards dean's life vs how dean regards sam's. like there is a similarity between s10 and s3 in that the responsibility of life between sam and dean includes the perceivable entitlement of dean's resurrection of sam and sam's perceivable responsibility (a burden well explored in season two between dean and john) of their combined grief and this same lack of role assumption that dean perceives as a betrayal in s8. tangent but really i do think it's thematically a straight line especially if we're to consider other examples of subtextually compared circumstances that aren't acknowledged outloud: benny vs sam himself, amy or ruby or even benny and sam's mirroed characteristics. and 2) the fundamental differences between the events as they actually happen that contribute to the differences in narrative attribution of monstrosity and the clear differences in power dynamic and how it relates to the narrative framing of 4.21 vs 10.03. like i posted about this recently so i won't talk your ear off about it anymore
it's like people find dean relatable and/or likeable and conform their whole view of him and his relationships around that then idolise him. he's relatable to the average queer person who is victim to the patriarchy in fandom so it must be the same for him <3 neglecting to realise that the reason he's relatable is cause he's white, not rich, likeable, and played by a conventional attractive person, rather than the other stuff. this is mean because projection is fine it's just. even when i was a fan of a disabled character with disabled fandom friends they could separate the projection of their own disabled experiences from the character's. dean as a concept wrt how people perceive him is beyondddd me. it's on everything i touch in this fandom like what happens to the handles of your utensils and pots and pans while you cook something oily
#sorry i just kind of used your ask to air some recent grievanceshdjdjdj#like and of course once again this all would be fine if it was limited to or labeled as headcanon-derived ideas#of their relationship rather than being presented to you as canonical or a faithful interpretation#i wrote this last saturday (LOL) and it's kind of just all vomit. holds my cupped hands filled with bile in front of your face#it's funny it's coloured the way i view a lot of people ive come across on here#quaerit

MONTHLY MEDIA: August 2021
Goodbye August and hello autumn. Here’s how I spent the dog days of summer (outside of the occasional trip outside).
……….FILM……….

The Suicide Squad (2021) Just...so good. Yes this was the first movie I’d seen in theatres since 2020 (Birds of Prey, this wasn’t planned) but that’s not the only reason I loved this. The movie just knows exactly what it is and delivers that and more. So many character arcs and funny moments to compliment the endless gore. Very excited to see it again.

A Quiet Place Part II (2020) I think a solid continuation of the story. It really kept up the intensity and while some stuff didn’t quite land for me (like the trope where there’s a community of humans as bad as the monsters...that always bums me out and comes across as suuuuuper pessimistic) it was still a fun time at the movies.
Werewolves Within (2021) Pretty decent whodunnit! The end didn’t feel quite as satisfying as I’d imagined (the culprit was fine, it was more the motive that didn’t quite stick the landing for me). Weird politics at times but it had genuinely tense moments so your mileage may very.

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (2021) Still enjoying this series and each segment feels complete while also feeding into the larger plot. The killings mostly feel like an afterthought or at least they don’t seem to be the main draw of the movie, and I’m into that. The events are still horrific, but it doesn’t feel quite as exploitative, if that makes sense?
Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (2021) Finishing strong! Everything tied together, the twists and turns felt earned, and it all really wrapped up in a satisfying way. Refreshingly strong trilogy.
……….TELEVISION……….

Ted Lasso (Episode 1.08 to 2.06) Still can’t say enough good stuff about this show. It’s just really nice watching a bunch of flawed yet decent people work through their varying challenges with (and against) each other. Great stuff.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars (Episode 6.07 to 6.11) My money is on Ginger Minj but my gut says Ra’Jah O’Hara.
Marvel’s What If... (Episode 1.01 to 1.03) While I don’t rush to watch each episode, I enjoy each installment when I finally get to it. Superhero fatigue? Television fatigue? Who knows.
Bachelor in Paradise (Episode 7.01 to 7.04) I wasn’t sure I’d get back into this but after week 1 I was hooked! It’s just refreshing to shift gears from the Bachelor/ette dynamic of everyone vying for one person, you know?
The Bachelorette (Episode 17.09 to 17.10) Oof what an end to the season! The finale made it clear that Katie and her family have some stuff to work through. Between Greg and her Aunt’s general treatment of Blake, it really came across as unresolved history popping in. Outside of that, it was a fine finale. Though I will say that I continue to love Tayshia and Kaitlyn as the hosts.
……….READING……….

Can’t Even: How Millennials Became the Burnout Generation by Anne Helen Petersen (Complete) This was a slow read for me cause it was such a bummer. I mean it was concise, informative, and presented a clear path to how we got here, but that didn’t exactly make it fun. Still HIGHLY recommend (especially for those older than the titular generation) but what are the odds a boomer is reading this blog post? Maybe gift it to them? I dunno.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and The Marvelous Land of Oz by Eric Shanower and Skottie Young (Complete) Technically I’m reading through the Omnibus that collects all 6 of Shanower and Young’s adaptations. These interpretations are so faithful and yet darker that I think they serve as a good balance between the two Oz movies. Definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in getting to know the world of Oz but aren’t interested in reading the original books.
……….AUDIO……….

Aisles by Angel Olsen (2021) I love me some moody 80s covers.
I Hate Running by Number One Popstar (2021) This popped up in my spotify recommendations and now I’ve been listening to all of Number One Popstar’s singles (and they’re all excellent). Good energy, funny in a laid back way, and each one is a gem of a track. Go check out all of their music.
……….GAMING……….

Neverland: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) More adventures in Neverland! My D&D group has started exploring the Skull and...it’s getting mixed reactions. Maybe a little too weird for some? Just weird enough for others. Anyway you can read more in-depth campaign diaries here on reddit!
And that’s it! As always, let me know if you have anything to recommend and thanks for reading!

Hi! Could Dean (while being Michael's vessel) have seen Cas' true form?
Ooh, see, we do have a fantastic fanfic gap in 13.23 that we could perfectly fill with this.
In fact, I know there was coda fic written of this episode that explored this as a possibility... heck if I can think of any right now, but I'm sure I read some at the time.
**Edited this in before posting as reminder to folks reading this that I was 100% onboard the Human Cas Endgame that canon had been setting up for years and years, and that I don't harbor a romanticized attachment to a concept of an angel's "true form." And that in most respects, I find it kind of insulting to Cas as a character. If this viewpoint is upsetting, I would suggest giving the remainder of my reply a pass. Thanks.
That said...
We don't know what happened before Dean said yes. Did Cas try to talk him out of it? Did Dean say anything to Cas? And then what happened immediately after Dean said yes, when Michael was still honoring their agreement on vessel control? Did Dean say anything to Cas then? Did Cas say anything to Dean?
We know Dean was in full control of all of Michael's other angelic powers (wings, glowy-floaty, etc.), so theoretically he could also "see" the angel possessing a body, since we know canonically that Cas (even when he was fully human) recognized angels in their vessels, and we know canonically that Cas isn't "possessing a vessel" in the traditional sense anyway and "is" that body now (he died and was reconstructed how many times in that body now? at least four... he's not possessing Jimmy's corpse and hasn't been for the vast majority of his time in canon, and for those still confused about this they ABSOLUTELY made that clear after Cas's body was burned entirely in 12.23 and he was just... booped back into existence in an entirely new body... "what's burned stays dead," we had a whole entire arc about that at the beginning of s13... but I seriously digressed here >.>)
Where was I? OH right. Did Dean see Cas's "true form."
I think Cas's body that looks like Jimmy is actually his true form, or at least a significant part of his true form, since Cas has identified with that body for a very long time now. I personally detest the description of Cas's angelic form as his "true" form, you know? It feels... wrong... It's his angelic form, and I don't personally believe that he's identified solely as that being in years.
The only times Cas has ever referred to his angelic self as being his "true form" was in 4.01 when he was at his least human, and in 6.07 when he retorted to Samuel about his "true form is approximately the size of your Chrysler building" because Samuel was being obnoxious and hostile to him. The only other angel to refer to their "true form" in canon was Zachariah, who also used it to put Sam and Dean in their places in 5.16, while strong-arming them into saying yes to Michael and Lucifer in Heaven. Like... it's not a phrase that fills one with the warm fuzzies. It's meant to be an intimidation, to remind the lowly humans he is not one of them. That he's somehow "better" than them. So yeah, since Cas fell in 8.23, especially, I can't really see him even thinking of that form as his "true form" anymore.
But for the sake of the question, yeah, Dean was probably able to see Cas's grace form in 13.23 before he flapped off to stab Lucifer. Considering how much Cas had been struggling with the waning of his own powers since s9, I have no idea how much of that grace form he actually retained to see anyway. He probably also saw Lucifer's true form during their fight. Considering how Sam and Rowena both talked about how that experience was deeply traumatizing, Dean held it together pretty well.
Well I think I might've come close to answering this question? Maybe? But I personally have become sort of uncomfortable with how a lot of folks engage with the discussion of Cas's "true form," and I'm finding I can't really get excited about a discussion of it all without explaining how I see Cas as a character, and how he identifies with himself. Years ago I used to love the concept, but since s9... eh... not so much...
I am, however, disappointed that Dean and Cas never had a conversation in canon about what exactly Dean did see in those moments. He had to have seen things in Cas that could've given us insight into what exactly Cas had become. Granted, Michael attempted a conversation along those lines in 14.10, but again, he was doing so from a position of hostility and manipulation, and not for Cas's personal growth and benefit. Dean would've surely addressed all of those issues from a different perspective.
Sorry if that's a slightly disappointing take :P

How about Family Matters for the SPN reviews? I'd love your take on some SoullessSam.
I took a sabbatical from these for the end of s15, but now I’m Back. Here we go!
6.07 Final Thoughts
I love early season 6 as a meditation on the ways that Sam is present when he is absent, and absent when he is present. Making Sam objectively, provably Not Himself does some lovely and horrific things to drag the ways he has been forced and forces himself to fit certain molds into the light.
We open on Sam, whom Dean has beaten bloody and unconscious and tied to a chair, for the crime of—*checks notes*—saying he feels there’s something wrong with him, and that he needs help. Boy, I sure do wonder why Sam was reticent. A mystery.
Okay, but actually, those aren’t Dean’s reasons. Because he went way overboard. Sam was not a physical threat to him. Dean was certainly upset about the you-let-me-get-vamped thing, but he wasn’t overcome with rage over it. This was not 4.21, or 4.04, or any time that Dean has lashed out at Sam in anger or desperation or because Sam was fighting back. In fact, this wasn’t Dean lashing out at Sam at all: Dean is cold, Dean is putting down a threat. Dean beat Soulless!Sam unconscious precisely because he was not Sam enough. Dean is lashing out at the unbearable possibility that the Cage might have changed Sam, indelibly, forever, to be someone that Dean won’t recognize. And that implicit degree of judgment is utterly terrifying.
Lies and honesty in season 6... it’s a whole thing, webs within webs, really. Cas will later be excoriated for hiding his deal with Crowley from Dean and Sam. Both Samuel and Cas are lying to Sam for the whole season about who rescued Sam, and Crowley is lying to them both in turn. But the fact that Sam literally didn’t know what was wrong with him or how he escaped Hell but was expected to confess anyway, along with the way Cas and Dean stand there discussing Sam’s status and diagnosis over his head, is an excellent illustration of the way that lies to and lies about Sam are treated.
Also, Cas, entering the brunt of his woes post-s6: the way that Dean and Sam, and especially Dean, take his assistance and his involvement for granted. He’s been inducted into the family, and he’s glimpsed the utter loyalty demanded, but now those demands will really start to kick in. “Your problems always come first.” lmao
Soulless!Sam is remarkably cooperative! He relies on a tactic that mid-seasons Sam uses actually quite a lot to win over Dean: persuasion via self abasement. (I’m the least of any of you, I know I’m a freak, I know I messed up)… it’s appeasement, full-throttle. “I’m sorry, Dean, I won’t do it again,” he says, with admirably well-leashed insincerity.
It’s so obviously, delightfully performative. It makes me think about 15.17, and other times in late seasons, when Sam is relying on these tried-and-true tactics to talk Dean down. How much of that is performative? How much does Sam truly believe? How much does Sam believe in spirit but not in word? The potential for dishonesty and slant truth is fascinating.
Soul (or lack of soul) touching!!!! Cas didn’t even heal Sam’s face first, because he knew we wanted to see him all bloody :)
The treatment of Family also gets a good shake-over in season 6, with the introduction of the Campbells. Dean’s open hostility towards the Campbells is unsurprising; he’s threatened, he’s suspicious, and it reminds me of how Dean felt when he discovered Adam in 4.19.
And yet Dean uses a similar tactic on Samuel as Soulless Sam is using on him—offering trust in the hope that it’s returned. “You call the plays,” he says, apparently without any sense of irony.
Dean accuses Sam of having “no instincts.” And that’s--both true, and precisely untrue. Sam able to figure out every kind of cue this episode quickly and keenly, not by empathy, but through observation. Also ironically, Sam’s ease with following Samuel’s orders is so close to Dean’s sense of instinct, as he would have defined it pre-series! Do what Dad asks, because he’s family: you can really see Sam’s confusion when Dean isn’t on board with that.
I think we should appreciate how baffling the back and forth in Family (tm) is for Soulless!Sam. He set himself up to follow the Rules as he understood them: save people, hunt things, obey Dad Grandad, only for the goalposts to move.
What’s interesting here is, as Soulless says himself, he doesn’t actually need to stick around with Dean. He could have left. Reasonably, around the time that Dean gives him the “I drive the bus, I call the shots” speech, he should have been out of there. We are supposed to feel disappointment at the prospect that they broke up but I mean goddamn, who wouldn’t run from that ultimatum. The real twist is that he decides to stick it out.
I love the brief flash of genuine fear Soulless shows when Crowley threatens to throw him back into the Cage.
Soulless!Sam is still so fundamentally his own person, even when he’s allowing himself to be led around by the nose by Dean. And yet… he’s just as compromised as Sam is. He’s got that fear of being swallowed up, by Hell or by Dean. Being twisted into something he is not, being forced to fit a shape he can’t survive: that’s the point at which he’ll fight back. But up until then? He’ll stretch himself quite agreeably to meet expectations. He’ll fit himself into the imposed mold without complaint, whether it’s Samuel’s or Dean’s, and he’ll feel a real sense of relief to have that structure.
Unlike many other soulless people we’ve seen, Soulless!Sam doesn’t operate at all on id. Rather, he reads to me as the precise opposite: ego and superego run wild. He places too much weight on divining and acting according to what his tiny society thinks is acceptable. All his survival drive is bent towards consequence, towards the judgment of pragmatic outcomes, rather that what he’d like in the moment. He doesn’t mind hurting or subsuming himself temporarily to gain a later advantage. He feels safest when fulfilling expectations, both practical and moral. He’s built himself a scaffold to support whatever it is he knows he's become, and he uses it to defend himself against the guilt and failure and agony that he remembers, that he’s desperate not to return to.
“This family—this is it for me now,” says Soulless!Sam to Samuel, and even though he’s lying, I think he’s telling the truth.

buffy season six imagery: food [ 2 / 2 ]
[more quotes and images in part one. commentary below the cut.]
This motif is one of those things that you don’t necessarily notice until you know to look for it, and then suddenly it’s everywhere. Season six is stuffed with food imagery (so to speak), to the extent that I could have filled up an entire other image set with it. And all of that imagery is pretty meaningful.
The most obvious thing that food is associated with in season six is nurturance. Especially when it comes to Dawn. In Bargaining, Tara and the Buffybot make breakfast and sandwiches. But the fact that the bot overdoes the sandwiches shows that her nurturance is fake, and not a replacement for the kind of love that Dawn would have wanted from Buffy or her mother. It’s significant then, that when Buffy is trying to prove her okay-ness at the end of After Life, that she brings Dawn lunch. She is trying to be a nurturer for Dawn, but it’s still slightly put-on like the bot’s nurturing was. As Willow and Buffy spiral downwards in Smashed and Wrecked, once again Tara takes on the task of feeding Dawn, this time by giving her a milkshake and trying to make pancakes. The fact that those pancakes then burn shows how much everyone there is failing Dawn. And by extension, themselves. They’re burnt out, so to speak.
There’s also an implication of failure in feeding Dawn junk food. In Bargaining there’s a pizza box on the table between Dawn and Spike, and later in Gone Buffy will gleefully wave a pizza box around, to Dawn’s distress. In Life Serial, Buffy brings home a bucket of fried chicken that no one actually needs. In As You Were, Dawn is mildly disgusted by being given yet another squished Doublemeat Medley. (Later in the episode, Dawn will note that all they have in the house is “ice cubes.”) You could even maybe say something about the old man in All The Way calling himself “daddy” and almost feeding Dawn a rice crispy treat, and then ending up dead. Like even the unsettling version of a “parent” can’t feed her right. By contrast, Dawn is excited in Dead Things that her friend’s mother is going to teach her how to make “real tortillas”--as opposed to the “peanut butter and banana quesadillas” that she scrounged up for herself. Once again, she’s getting “real” nurturance from someone that isn’t Buffy. At the beginning of Older And Far Away, Buffy apologizes that she can’t be there for a “real dinner” with Dawn, and the party Dawn traps everyone in is full of fancy-looking canapés. As in, she wanted to trap people in a place with food. Finally in Entropy, when Buffy is in full seeking-forgiveness mode and wanting to be a good caretaker, she goes overboard in making Dawn breakfast. A sign that she’s now more fully committed to taking care of Dawn.
Symbolically-speaking, I’ve discussed in the past how Buffy’s relationship to Dawn in season six represents Buffy’s relationship to life. So Buffy being able to feed and nourish Dawn is really about Buffy being able to nourish herself and live a fulfilling and responsible life. And when other characters feed Dawn, or fail to feed Dawn, it’s a sign that Buffy isn’t present in her own life, whether because she’s actually dead in Bargaining or because she’s too depressed to manage it.
The junk food versus real food dichotomy goes beyond Dawn, though. Obviously, there’s everything with the Doublemeat Palace. The fact that Buffy is serving fast food--which the visuals go to some effort to make as grotesque and unappetizing as possible--is a sign that she’s not just failing to nourish Dawn, she’s also failing to nourish herself and the people she serves. It’s the opposite of fulfilling work (emphasis on “filling”). It’s work where she’s at first afraid that she’ll be eaten up instead. Willow too has her moments with food. In Flooded she snacks on a boxed cookie in a cavalier way, perhaps echoing the way that she doesn’t have respect for the reality of what she’s done. Whereas in Gone she tries to make herself an omelet, ie make herself something real, but isn’t quite ready for it, and gives up. Lastly, it’s significant to me that Xander and Anya spend parts of the season snacking on junk food, whether that’s Xander’s doughnuts in Once More, With Feeling, the popcorn in Doublemeat Palace, or the chips in As You Were. It’s food treated compulsively, or disrespectfully--when Xander plays with the doughnuts--instead of as a source of nourishment and pleasure. It seems meaningful to me that in Once More, With Feeling Xander fails to understand the appeal of Anya’s “stinky cheeses.” Xander’s lack of appreciation for a “real food” along with his playing with junk food, is perhaps a sign that he’s not ready for something real the way that Anya is. Anya in Older And Far Away is in charge of carefully arranging the canapés, whereas Xander is eager to chow down on the Buffybot’s mechanical sandwiches in Bargaining, and the fake-meat Medley in Doublemeat Palace. He also jumps to serve Buffy pizza After Life. In his future vision in Hell’s Bells, the meals are unhappy affairs accompanied by alcohol (which per this post on the season’s use of alcohol, is a sign of unhealthiness and irresponsibility). As in, he can’t imagine a real and nurturing future. And in general, just isn’t yet quite mature enough for it.
But the characters do yearn for something nurturing. There are lots of scenes with characters around Buffy’s kitchen island, trying to feed themselves. In All The Way and Older And Far Away, Buffy’s house hosts a party full of snacks. There’s also the “family meal” at the beginning of Life Serial. Almost all of those food scenes are troubled in different ways, but they speak to the fact that the characters are trying to have a house that is full of company and food. Even if they’re still too young and confused to really be able to pull it off.
#season six imagery series#s6#i really like this one#since it's something i don't think i've seen many people talk about#but it's a big part of the season

Any good canon complacent Klaine fics when they have great communication. Any season but please be super canon complacent. It could be after getting married, after the Scandels night in the first time, talking about Kurt moving to New York, talking after Finn dies. I’d also prefer it if it doesn’t have a lot of dialogue directly from the episode in it. I’m a slut for communicating Klaine.
There are so many Klaine fics that are canon compliant and provide great communication. I suggest that you take a look at our reaction fic tag. If there is a specific episode that you delve into further, you should definitely check out master episode related works at @todaydreambelieversfic.
trufflemores_Glee_fic, Flowerfan, and Flaming Muse are authors who write many fics similar to what you are looking for. Note: some of their fics are AUs so be sure to check out the tags and the story summary.
There are 30 fic recs under the cut. This post is a collaborative effort between Lynne, myself, and @klaineship2. A special thanks to @klaineship2 for helping me out.

Markets rose on Thursday after jobless claims from last week came in at much better than expected figures. Meanwhile, investors continue to wait for Friday when the Labor Department releases its November jobs report. After the U.K. on Wednesday and became the first country to grant emergency approval to Pfizer and BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine, vaccine-related sentiment also helped markets as well. This vaccine, as well as Moderna’s vaccine, continue to stand by for emergency FDA approval in America. The Dow Jones climbed 130 points, led by a 5% surge in Boeing. The S&P 500 rose 0.3% after hitting a second consecutive record closing high in the previous session. The Nasdaq also gained .6% and hit another intraday record high. The Moto G Power is a phone battery behemoth that costs only $250
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/the-moto-g-power-is-a-phone-battery-behemoth-that-costs-only-250/
The Moto G Power is a phone battery behemoth that costs only $250

The Moto G Power ($230 at Best Buy) is one of the newer members of the Motorola G budget phone family. It follows in the same steps as last year’s Moto G7 Power with both a wallet-friendly price and a gigantic battery. At its core, the $250 Moto G Power is similar to the more expensive Moto G Stylus ($270 at Amazon). (It’s sold as the Moto G8 Power in the UK for £220. It’s not available in Australia.) Both came at a time when sheltering in place meant many of us depended on our phones to stay connected with friends, family or work. Many of us still are. At the same time, millions of people are in financial distress and can’t afford a new phone or to replace a broken one, especially when new phones can cost upward of a thousand dollars.

Don’t Like
Video recording is rough
Photos suffer from noise
This is where Motorola stands out from the growing crowd of budget phones, by offering both an affordable price and premium features. That’s not to say that the Moto G Power isn’t without compromises. It doesn’t have an IP rating for dust and water resistance and it lacks wireless charging and NFC. But Motorola sensibly traded away such features to keep the price low.
Read: CNET’s in-depth review and comparison between the Moto G Fast and Moto E
Apple followed a similar formula with its new iPhone SE this spring, which omits features found in its higher-end phones such as the iPhone 11 ($699 at Amazon) and 11 Pro in order to hit a $399 price. That’s affordable for an iPhone, but it’s still a hundred and fifty bucks more than the Moto G Power.
If you’re on a budget and looking for a phone with an absolutely mind-blowing battery life, the Moto G Power deserves your consideration. Its 5,000-mAh battery is the same size as the one in the $800 LG V60 and the $1,400 Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. To use a different metric: You could buy five Moto G Power phones for the price of a single Galaxy S20 Ultra and use the money left over to take a loved one out to dinner.
Moto G Power vs. Moto G Stylus: Key differences
Moto G Power costs $250; the Moto G Stylus costs $300.
Moto G Stylus has a 4,000-mAh battery; the Moto G Power has a 5,000-mAh battery.
Moto G Power has 64GB of storage; the Moto G Stylus has 128GB of storage.
Aside from the macro camera, the Moto G Power and Moto G Stylus have different rear cameras.
Moto G Stylus has a built-in stylus.
Moto G Power comes in Smoke Black; the Moto G Stylus in Mystic Indigo.

Moto G Power has a hole-punch display
The Moto G Power has a 6.4-inch full HD display with a hole-punch that houses the selfie camera. The aesthetic is nice and gives the phone a premium look. It’s reminiscent of Samsung Galaxy phones and their hole-punch display.
It has a USB-C port for charging and a fantastic headphone jack. On the back is a fingerprint reader that doubles as the Motorola logo. It lacks wireless charging and doesn’t have an IP rating for dust or water resistance. It does have a “splash-proof” coating, however, that withstood being in standing puddles of water for several minutes when I was filming footage for a comparison video. But don’t take that as an endorsement to submerge the phone.
The Moto G Power comes with 64GB of storage and supports expandable storage up to 512GB. The phone comes in Smoke Black, which looks fine, though the finish collects more fingerprints than an investigator on CSI. But none of that matters if you’re planning on putting it in a case.
The screen is surrounded by thick bezels that are actually thinner than those on the iPhone 11. The forehead and chin are a bit chunky but at least Motorola got rid of the name on the bottom of the phone, which we saw on last year’s Moto G7.
Moto G Power performance and battery
The Moto G Power has a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM and runs Android 10 with a number of mostly helpful touches from Motorola. In our performance tests, it fared better than last year’s Moto G7, but still fell behind last year’s Google Pixel 3A and Samsung Galaxy A50 ($229 at Amazon).

In everyday use, I had no problem surfing the web or watching YouTube videos. I played PUBG with graphics set to “smooth” and the frame rate at medium and I had no problems. But when I played Alto’s Odyssey, sometimes animations stuttered.
I’m still running battery tests on the Moto G Power, which takes a while. Motorola promised that the phone would last up to three days of regular use on a single charge. During my time with the phone it lasted easily four days between charges. I should point out that last year’s Moto G7 Power, which also had a 5,000-mAh battery, lasted longer in our battery test than every other phone we reviewed in 2019.
Now playing: Watch this: Moto G Stylus vs. Moto G Power: Which budget phone you…

I’ll update this piece with final results and ratings when we finish running our video tests for battery life.
Moto G Power’s triple rear cameras
On the front is a 16-megapixel selfie camera which takes decent photos and video. It’s the same one found on the Moto G Stylus. The dynamic range isn’t the greatest, and the colors in video aren’t as accurate as they could be.

And then there are the rear cameras, which… can we acknowledge how cool it is to see a $250 phone with three rear cameras?! The Moto G Power has a 16-megapixel main wide-angle camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide-angle camera and a macro camera all of which can be used for photos and videos.

Patrick Holland/CNET
In good light, photos are decent, but pictures taken indoors or in low light are soft and noisy. The HDR mode works well to help the Moto G Power’s main camera punch above its weight and actually yielded a few decent snaps.

There are a few of these flowers along the side of my house. The Moto G Power’s HDR captured the lush color of the scene.
Patrick Holland/CNET
Videos from the phone suffer from a limited dynamic range and have the contrast cranked up too high.
The macro camera, which allows you to take ridiculously close-up photos and videos, is one of my favorite features on the phone. I’m astonished at the macro photos the Moto G Power was able to get.

Here is the same flower as above taken with the macro camera.
Patrick Holland/CNET
But I want to manage your expectations: The camera system on the Moto G Power is fine for the price. But you can get the Google Pixel 3A, normally $399 for $300 right now. That’s just $50 more than the Moto G Power. The Power’s a better all-around phone, but if you’re into taking photos on your phone, the Pixel 3A deserves your consideration.
