A selection of my favourite DW things I got to do in the past year(ish) to celebrate Doctor Who Day:
Time Controller in Hammersmith 04.11.23
- Remembrance of the Daleks event in the actual school used in the story. Being in the actual classroom, watching Sophie dressed as Ace, recreate how she beat up the Dalek is a memory I'll hold dear forever I think.

Whooverville in Derby 31.08.24

Dragonfire Day at Riverside Studios 08.09.24
- We watched the entire story & heard talks from most of the cast. Dragonfire is my favourite DW story, this was so special to me

The Stuff of Legend - Big Finish Live 15.09.24

Set To Stun exhibition in Gunnersbury 28.05.24
- Exhibition about the making of sci-fi shows & films in West London

Thoughts: I already mentioned I'm not into metal and its subgenres, right? But when I stumbled upon this album for the first time a couple of months ago... Dude. You probably know I really, reeeeaaaallyyyy love concept albums and this just happens to be one so of course I was interested to see what is it about and I absolutely loved how theatrical it was. You probably also know that I'm a fan of The pAper chAse and I immediately thought this was giving off some major TPC vibes. It just reminded me of the way John Congleton used to write his albums. Of course these bands are very different from each other, but something about them just feels similar. I actually found STS through someone's spotify playlist that only had them and The pAper chAse. So yeah, TPC fans should check them out, I don't see anyone else who are into both for some reason.
Where was I? Yeah, it's a concept album. Though it's not very easy to say what exactly the concept here is. It needs to be analyzed more deeply and it's gonna make this review very very long, so I'll leave it up to you to listen to the full thing (if you want to) and decide what do you think the "plot" behind it is. Anyway, some of the recurring themes of this album are revolution, love, violence, sometimes religion is mentioned and I feel like there are also some parts where the singer, Damien Wong, speaks directly to the listener and makes references to his own life. All of this definitely needs more attention and I will think more about it when I'll have time, there's just a lot to uncover.
Musically, Desperado Undead blends a lot of genres. The main one seems to be metalcore, but there are also so many sound effects, synths, vocals and even acoustic guitars sometimes that are totally not a common thing for anything "metal". All of these go together so well despite being pretty unexpected and not "fitting" with each other. Some parts where there was a sudden style change were very surprising and I loved them a lot. All of the tracks I like the most have these.
In conclusion, I was really impressed. This goes to my list of albums everyone should hear at least once in their life. Not like I have this list, but if I did it would be there. This record feels like a lot, but in a good way, there is so much to explore and it's really one of a kind
Overall rating: 9/10

Set to Stun: Designing & Filming Sci-Fi in West London opens at Gunnersbury Park Museum
Beyond the stars and behind the scenes… for nearly a century west London has been home to a hive of workshops and design studios that fed into some of the country’s most iconic science fiction films and TV shows. That’s being celebrated until June next year at Gunnersby Park Museum, with Set to Stun, a major exhibition offering a look at the area’s Doctor Who connections and much more from the…

Doctor Who's Set to Stun: A Visit to the Gunnersbury Park Museum Exhibition
#DoctorWho's Set to Stun: A Visit to the Gunnersbury Park Museum Exhibition
I was very lucky lately, having written an article last year about the announcement of the Set to Stun exhibit at Gunnersbury Park Museum, that I was finally able to visit it last week, just before it closed — though the Remembrance of the Daleks Dalek model will continue residing there until August. Completely free, the exhibit in West London celebrated local history in its grand house setting…

since 2010/6/9
“ここは基本的に俺が聴いた音源を勝手にレビューする所です。
“あくまでも俺が思った事を書いて行くだけですパクリ等についてはネタとしては扱いますが批判はしません”
スクリームをフューチャーしたメタル音楽を総称して"エクストリームメタル"と呼んでいます。
ポスコア/メタルコア/デスコア/スクリーモ/など等もちろんエクストリームであることと同時にメロディアスであることも重要です。
ここではそうした音楽を紹介していきます。”
