Okay, so I just watched a simple explanation video of Kageyama, and lt gave me an idea for a headcanon, here it is
We know back when kageyama was in middle school he looked up to Oikawa, a lot, but Oikawa always felt inferior to kageyama so naturally he refused to teach kageyama anything, leaving kageyama to slowly hate him.
The headcannon is that Kageyama envy’s yahaba because Yababa is practically Oikawa’s student, Kageyama would come to not hate but ‘envy’ yahaba becasue he got the attention from Oikawa and lessons he wanted as Oikawa past teammate.
And bro’s I’ve been pondering this for a hot moment and I can TOTALLY SEE kageyama hating Yahaba because he was easily taken under Oikawa wing
BUT THERES MORE
Cause then that also leaves yahaba and this is what i believe, you see yahaba knows he’ll never be like Oikawa, and he knows that compared to all the other setters he’s on the lower level. He thinks he shouldn’t be put under Oikawa’s wing. But then during and after the karasuno vs Sehjio rematch that he learned that Kageyama had tried to be a ‘student’ of Oikawa but Oikawa didn’t take him under his wing because Oikawa felt inferior to kageyama (he learned this from and inside source shhh)
and that made yahaba believe that Oikawa took him under his wing not because he had potential, but because Oikawa knew yahaba wouldn’t surpass him. Which then made him feel like Oikawa’s only doing this so he can get a sense of power or revenge on kageyama, after feeling inferior towards karasunos #9 for so long
Yall, this is some heavy shit- I dunno how my brain came up with this-

A Senior's Sacrifice
Tumblr media
Warning: Angst!!
_____________________________
Sugawara Koshi had known from the moment he first saw Kageyama play that the day would come when he would have to step aside.
He had seen him before, back in middle school, long before Karasuno’s gym was anything more than a dream. Kageyama’s name was whispered between players, written in tournament brackets, spoken with both admiration and disdain.
The King of the Court.
Sugawara had been curious. What kind of setter earned a title like that?
And when he finally saw him in action, he understood.
There was something terrifyingly sharp about the way Kageyama moved, how his hands guided the ball with precision that seemed almost unnatural. He didn’t just set—he commanded. The ball obeyed him, as if it had no other choice.
Sugawara had always believed that a setter was the backbone of the team, the silent force that shaped every play. But Kageyama? He wasn’t just a backbone. He was a storm. A presence so overwhelming that even the most skilled players were swept up in his current, forced to keep up or be left behind.
So when Kageyama walked into Karasuno’s gym, Sugawara didn’t feel fear.
He felt relief.
Because if Kageyama was here, Karasuno had a chance to be great.
And Sugawara loved this team more than anything.
But God, it hurt.
It hurt because he knew.
It wasn’t that Kageyama had stolen his place—Sugawara had been the one to step down. He had done it willingly, knowing it was the right choice. Knowing Karasuno’s future was brighter with Kageyama leading the offense.
But knowing didn’t make it any easier.
Every practice, every game, every perfect toss that soared into Hinata’s waiting hands—it was another reminder that the role Sugawara had held for years was no longer his. He still practiced. He still cheered. He still stood on the court when they needed him. But little by little, he faded into the background.
And sometimes, when he sat on the bench, watching Kageyama take the position he had once called his own, Sugawara wondered—
How long until they don’t need me at all?
—
Semi Eita had fought for his starting position with everything he had.
He had trained, pushed himself, earned his role as Shiratorizawa’s setter. He had believed that being the best meant proving that he could lead a team to victory—not just through Ushijima, but as a setter who could hold his own.
He had believed that Shiratorizawa was more than just its ace.
But Coach Washijo didn’t see it that way.
Washijo didn’t want a setter who thought for himself. He didn’t want someone who tried to create his own plays, to spread the offense, to stand out.
He wanted a setter who would follow. Someone who would feed Ushijima the ball without hesitation, without question, without trying to prove anything more.
And Semi?
Semi thought Shiratorizawa deserved more than that.
But his thoughts didn’t matter.
Because the moment Shirabu walked in, the decision had already been made.
Semi had been better. More skilled. More experienced. But Shirabu was obedient. Shirabu was easier to control. Shirabu wouldn’t challenge the system.
So, when Washijo made his choice, Semi didn’t even get the chance to fight.
He wasn’t asked to step aside—he was forced.
And there was nothing he could do but accept it.
—
The finals were everything they had worked for.
The culmination of sweat, blood, and years of training, and yet—
Sugawara and Semi weren’t playing.
Not really.
Sugawara stood on the sidelines, Karasuno’s voices ringing in his ears as they fought for victory. Every point, every set, every spike—it was Kageyama’s now. And Sugawara had long since come to terms with that.
He had.
Hadn’t he?
But when his gaze drifted across the court, his eyes locked on another figure standing just outside the Shiratorizawa bench.
Semi Eita.
Their eyes met for only a second.
They didn’t know each other.
Not really.
But the tension in Semi’s jaw, the way his fists clenched as he watched the game unfold—the way his lips pressed into a thin, unreadable line as Shirabu set for Ushijima again and again—
Sugawara knew that feeling.
Because he had lived it too.
They weren’t the same. Their stories were different. Their struggles had taken different shapes.
But at the core of it, they had both been left behind.
For the sake of the team.
For the sake of something greater than themselves.
For something that hurt just the same.
And for the first time, Sugawara wondered—
If he had met Semi sooner, if they had ever talked, ever understood—
Would it have made the weight of being replaced a little easier to bear?

Hi friends!! My teammate was playing some questionable songs at practice recently, and it made me think: who’s got the AUX but can’t get it quite right?
Bokuto is banned from adding any songs to the team playlist because they’re all SpyAir songs. Nothing wrong with the band, the random rock songs just clash with the team’s preferred RNB.
Sugawara’s songs always have to be skipped because it’s hard to play volleyball when half the team is singing and shaking ass (he is a barb therefore Nicki stays on their playlist).
Ushijima’s playlist consists solely of American country music, and the team CANNOT stand its grating sounds. They hate it when coach lets him play his music.
Hanamaki likes a lot of great artists, but he’s absolutely terrible at making and/or keeping a vibe. It could be a fast, upbeat practice and he’s playing Nico Touches the Walls. Or it’s pouring down rain outside and the artist of the day is Polkadot Stingray. The team can sometimes tolerate it, but Oikawa and Mattsun never let him hear the end of it.
Lastly, Atsumu loves his Mitski with his whole mind, body, and soul, and he makes it everybody’s problem, but it’s kind of hard to play volleyball with First Love/Late Spring making you sad :(
Bonus: Coach Ukai gets relentless whining and complaining from his team because he opts to play the Top 100 radio, but they can’t stand hearing OMG eight times a day.

Israeli Occupation Forces operating Thursday in the occupied Jerusalem territories, after an operation launched by Resistance groups wreaked havoc in the occupied city, mistakenly fired on an Israeli settler, severely wounding him.
Their own brutality is killing them.

Today's Dog: The Irish Setter! These are gundogs which are required to be either red or chestnut. Irish Setters work well as therapy dogs, as it gives them a task to fend off boredom (which they greatly dislike). At the AKC National Show in 2022, an Irish Setter named Declan won Best In Show. They commonly win the sporting group in many national shows as well, and won Crufts in 1950 and 1993!
Today's Monkee: She's Movin' in with Rico from Pool It! (1987)! This is a Davy lead written by Eddie Howell and produced by Roger Bechirian. It remains the only song the former wrote for the group, although Bechirian produced all of the 1987 reunion album.
