Taliesin: Honestly, because between guilt, which has been kind of festering forever in Ashton’s head, and also that they don’t really, like, they don’t hit on people normally. When they hook up with people, people hook up with them. They’re not really-

Laura: I could see that

Taliesin: They’re not the initiator. They’re just willing to be cool, and then be nonchalant about it, and like, whatever. Like it’s not, there’s not a lot of- And like, not that this was commitment either, but I’m like, I don’t hit on people.

Marisha: Uh-huh.

Taliesin: And also, I feel really bad about a bunch of shit, which also then adds a bunch of like- I don’t want to be guilty and I don’t also want to be going, “Hey babe, it’s the end of the world, want to?” Like, no, no, no, no, no, I’m into this! It just happens to be the worst time that there is for this.

Laura: Has Ashton ever pined for someone before?

Taliesin: No, no.

Laura: Is Ashton pining for Fearne?

Taliesin: (Like when you’re trying to express something and your friend hasn’t quite understood) No…

Sam: What is it about her that turns him on most?

Taliesin: It’s honestly, it’s the- it’s a mirror of their own recklessness.

I dunno whether I’ll ever show the full thing but there are. A few more like this, to say the least [looks at the like 10 or so panels i haven’t drawn yet] [looks back] . Anyways this is also my excuse to draw various other characters, including but not limited to Geoffrey, Shard, and Bernie <3

i literally spend at least 2 hours a week just looking at various pictures of the terracotta army. utterly entranced. look at the details in the hair. you'd never see ANY of this when they're lined up in formation, but they're there.  

theres about 8000 of these guys down there, no two faces are alike. they're works of art. they're the manifestation of a cruel despot's delusions of grandeur. a talisman against the terrible inevitability of death, both pathetic and strangely pitiful. like watching a child clinging to his blanket, begging you not to turn off the light. they were a bunch of insignificant clay statues from a side chamber that was so small and unremarkable, no one bothered to write down the location. they were modelled after real people. their only purpose was to serve qin shi huang in the afterlife, so he could reign in heaven as he did on earth. now the emperor is just a ghost and his pawns are immortal. my dad and i visited them in the dead of winter, on a weekday, just so we wouldn't have to deal with tourists like us. the place had easily 500 people--not including the ones below ground. we traveled to xian via the old "green skin" diesel train. there are faster means, like highspeed rail but dad insisted i try the authentic way, the same way he would have traveled when he was my age it was also like, a quarter of the price but im sure that had nothing to do with it! back in the 80s carriages would get so packed people had to have their luggage passed in via the windows. as we chugged along, i read my book and my dad made us cup noodles. car is just a shortened version of "carriage", the word is the same but the mechanism is different. it's the same in chinese. i think if i told someone from the warring states period i could travel from the Kingdom of Qi to Qin in just four hours with my metal carriage, i'd be laughed out of town--or accused of being a spy and sentenced to 'death by carriage.' we hopped off the train at 4am and took a different "carriage." the taxi driver joked; "basically every dynasty put their capital in xian, stick a shovel anywhere and you'll turn up some national treasure or another." i wonder what it would have felt like to be a farmer digging a well and then out pops a remarkably realistic human head. statistical analysis show the soldier's faces bear a strong similarity to people living in the region today. the taxi stopped in front of a jewellery-hawking tourist trap and refused budge an inch until we went inside. did you know the terracotta soldiers were originally multi-coloured and painfully gaudy, just like the greek marbles? they were made assembly-line style. the arms and legs were made from the same workshops that made clay plumbing pipes and roof tiles. for quality control, the artisans were required to stamp their names. the workers who built these tombs were executed shortly afterwards, because only dead men can be trusted with secrets. qin shi huang's mausoleum is unlikely to be excavated in my father's lifetime, or mine, not unless i'm willing to take a BIG ONE for the team... instead of the tomb, they built some kind of qin shi huang-themed theme park next to it. not only was it tacky as hell the entrance fee was like $50. we went to the museum and i looked at bronze tools and pottery shards for three hours. look why can't we just crack the thing open i can't be the only one here whos dying from curiosity what if we all just took turns digging

Is anyone else annoyed that Ambessa was set up as this huge Big Bad Villain, the over-arching enemy of the series...

Where just by raising her made Mel the person she was, and Mel's a great character don't get me wrong, i dunno if I'd even call her morally grey, but Mel is extremely manipulative. Jayce is honestly pretty naive in esp ssn 1- so many of his decisions were made because a Medarda had his ear.

Ambessa is a literal Noxian General: led armies, won wars. Extremely skilled fighter.

So many Kaitlyn stans like to lay every single one of that fascist's fucked decisions at Ambessa's feet and absolve her of everything in the name of manipulation.

And then... Ambessa Medarda didn't actually do anything? She shows up in the final battle, ploughs a path through a bunch of nameless characters, only to somehow lose in a one on two against Kaitlyn and Mel? Like are you absolutely fucking serious?

Kaitlyn's only been learning hand-to-hand for AT MAXIMUM the 3-6 months she spent as a fascist dictator, and that was obviously not a priority goal so its not like it was a boot camp or whatever shit. Not To MENTION she was learning from Ambessa herself. This is already ignoring that she spends the entire fucking fight with a dagger in her gut. Mel's solely playing support for the most part (don't get me started on the small instances she goes to fight Ambessa herself- Mel's a politician not a fighter. Even if she learned how to fight before she got banished that was over a fucking DECADE ago) and she's only had her powers for like, what, a week? She's clearly not mastered it in that amount of time.

So Ambessa, the Noxian Warlord with countless battles under her belt, somehow fucking loses to two women half her age with no actual battle experience whatsoever. One's a sniper using only hand-to-hand combat that she trained herself, who's injured the entire time but SOMEHOW keeping up. One's standing like ten feet away and making shields everywhere that she HAS anti-magic runes to combat.

If the writers wanted that fight to make any sense whatsoever Ambessa should've just kicked Kaitlyn in the dagger and while she's down just killed Mel (or AT LEAST knocked her out if you want to pull the "she wouldnt kill her DAUGHTER" card). Then she wouldn't have died at all. But no- the big anticipated fight against Ambessa with the dramatic-ass Blood Sweat and Tears entrance, that we've been building up to since forever... and the only casualty we get is Kaitlyn's fucking eye. Boo-fucking-hoo.

Technically we lost Jayce in order to defeat Viktor. In the most bullshit way possible we lost fucking JINX in order to take Warwick out of the picture. And yet Ambessa took no one with her. MADDIE got closer to killing Kaitlyn than Ambessa.

Something that really makes me feel insane about Ashton is the way a solid chunk of their arguments have always been that they’re Just A Guy. They’re nobody. They’re nothing. The gods never paid any attention to me, I don’t matter. I’m not special. And sure, with the information that was available early in the campaign, that was a reasonable conclusion for them to have drawn.

But now? When they know the powers that live inside them, powers that never have been combined before and likely never will be again? When several people have all independently pointed out how unprecedented their existence is? That basis for their argument loses all credibility. How many people on Exandria are walking around day to day with a fragment of a titan and a piece of the Luxon inside them? One. Ashton is a singularly unique being. “I’m nobody, I don’t matter,” bitch you’re the main character in a YA novel, calm down.
