apparently, friends of mine at some point heard about shifting and this is how I discovered + something that I believe shifters need to listen to

This weekend I was out with some friends of mine and then me and some friends decided to back home early, and on the way home we ended up talking about lucid dreaming and then the conversation from there went to shifting somehow.

In my mind I was like "alright, time to study this uncharted territory" (note: I never talked about shifting with any ot my friends, they have no idea I know about it) so I very innocently and clamly asked "really? what do you guys think about it?" and at that moment I instantly recalled what instant regret felt like.

In a nutshell: one of my friends had absolutely no idea what shifting actually was and had the wrong idea (because of 2020 shiftok) and doesn't think that it is true and the other in the past tried but didn't succeed and also had a wrong idea about what shifting actually was and therefore currently doesn't really belief in it (in any of this cases the word reality was never mentioned, so I don't even think that they knew shifting envolved shifting realities), there was more mentioned but I don't people want to be recalled of the atrocities that were being spread back in 2020 shiftok, so I will not mention them for mine and your peace of mind.

Some part of me wanted to say something about it and correct those misinformed friends of mine and even explain to them what shifting actually was, however the logical part of my brain spoke louder and arrived to realization that despite how opened minded my friends are maybe for them shifting is a stretch, so I just remained there with my water bottle in my hands and my gaze alternating between them as they talked about it. It also made me thankful for the fact that I wasn't on shiftok back in 2020, the misinformation really was as bad as people on community say it was.

However, this experience reminded me of something I wanted to remind everyone of. A lot more people than we know heard about shifting at some point, however, not everyone actually gave themselves the work of actually understanding what shifting actually is and how it works, not everyone realized the truth in shifting and how actually logic it is.

Yet here you are, yes you that's reading this, you gave yourself the world to understand it and seek to live all the lives you want. You believe in it and you are on your way home were you have everything you want and desire.

You were meant to find shifting, you are meant to shift to where you want, you are destined to be home.

You could have heard about and ignored it like so many did, you tried and failed and called it fake and everyone that succeeded a liar, you could have come up with some excuse an quit it. However you now know that it is real and you believe in shifting. You are going to shift and be in your wr's and/or dr's with everyone you love.

Shifting is your past, present and future. You got this. Go shift. Go home.

Honestly, Persephone is the type of person who looks at the relationships and goes; if they chose you, and you chose them, and it’s actual love, then I don’t really have any other opinions about it— as long as you’re happy. There are two ROs she doesn’t particularly like/is wary of, but I don’t want to spoil anything… So, I’ll just leave it at that.

Blake on the other hand?

Koda: He’s a fun guy to hangout with, someone that wouldn’t a fly and would probably cry if he did. Honestly, Blake doesn’t know how they could dislike Koda— he doesn’t do anything to deserve such a harsh emotion. Plus free piggyback rides on a Kodiak Bear can never get old.

Scarlett: She scares them… Ever since The Incident, Blake has done their best to try and stay off her radar unless they’re near sufficient cover and can get away with teasing her. Now that their best friend is dating her? And they have the ultimate get out of a jail free card? It’s open season. (On a serious note, Blake admires Scarlett and has a kindred bond with her in some ways due to events that I can’t spoil.)

Cyrus/Cyra: Aiming high aren’t you? They’d be completely amused/amazed that you found love with the Crown Heir… In fact, they may even give you a high five. Blake likes C, even though they think they get in their head too much, but they can clearly see how much the Phoenix cares for you. Plus, the bird jokes write themselves which is another bonus for Blake.

Quinn: They had their initial misgivings towards the Grant Heir— as Blake knows a bit more about the Grant Pack than you do— but after meeting them? Blake could clearly tell that they’re nothing like the family in which they hail from, and Blake might actually feel bad for assuming that they would be. Blake, as it seems to be a pattern when it comes to shifters, would want to have a shoulder ride when Quinn is shifted… Then they’re completely cleared in your best friends book.

Caden: Blake knows absolutely nothing about Caden… You know that one meme— I think it’s from The Office with Dwight and Angela, where she just appears?— that’s them in a nutshell. Blake isn’t necessarily unsettled by Caden, but they do find it a little creepy the way they’re able to just vanish. And, yes, they know it’s a Phantom thing, but still! They’d probably gift Caden with a bell or something… All in all, Blake would see how Caden centered you and you brought them out of their shell— it’s a win win.

Sloane: They’re very up in the air about Sloane. On one hand, they have a badass wardrobe and overall aesthetic, and they just sort of look cool all around. On the other hand? They’re sort of a dick. But! The longer Blake is exposed to Sloane, and the level of care they show you, plus when Sloane actually gets comfortable around Blake, then Blake will understand that they had nothing to worry about to begin with. (They’d totally ask if a saddle could fit on Sloane’s lupine form for them to ride.)

Blake: 0/10, would not recommend.

Reginald/Regina: Blake finds their overall cluelessness about the supernatural world incredibly endearing— especially since they’re actively trying to learn more. The only time Blake would worry about the relationship is when the long term effects are discussed, and the potential courses that could be taken (and the results that could come about). They patiently answer all of R’s questions, while subtly getting them to agree to be on their trivia team for game night, and just generally enjoys their time with R.

Truly, as long as you’re happy then Blake is happy. That’s all that matters in the end.

I'm almost there! SGC 6 is taking longer than I wanted to get done, but it's mostly executive dysfunction kicking my ass lol. This is why I don't do preorders for this series - but also it's a thing for fun, I'm trying to keep it fun to work on.

A little TLDR, because the amazon descriptions suck & I never properly introduced my writing or this series lol (I should hire someone when I have the money, to write a better blurb lol) but SGC is, in a nutshell, about a group running a cafe in the day, and doing some ghoul hunting at night for extra cash. When they stumble on something seemingly big, they think they can leverage whatever info they find into a possible job - whether just selling the information or doing something in return for a big payout - either way, they stick their noses into something that ends up being bigger than they expected.

At one point they'll have to decide whether to continue a "normal" life, or if they should seize the chance to try and do something about it. That's the plot, but at its core it's a very obvious love story about two guys who were very good friends, but became something more.

I rate it 18+ for vulgar language, some explicit scenes (both s*x and gore and drug use) and there's a lot....lot of F-bombs.

Setting: Think of a high fantasy world. A few thousand years later, they merge magic and technology. An industrial revolution begins! Then, a couple more thousand years, and new magic is discovered, and space exploration is unlocked! Now we have mega-metropolis cities, space ports, council of dragon shifters splitting the city into districts, and intergalactic government that tries to keep them in line.

The characters never set foot offworld (not in this season anyway) but there's plenty of mention of it.

Serial: This is a serial, not a big book - each episode is 20-60 pages, sometimes less, sometimes more. But it's why it's $1 an episode to read (although I may restructure this if I can get my own website redone) via Amazon (for now.) Once the whole season is done (10 episodes) I'll lump them together in a big single volume and offer a special edition paperback and hardcover (which I hope to fully illustrate!)

Background:

I started SGC in 2020, though festered the idea of it in October of 2019. 2020 needed a change of pace from my usual high/steampunk fantasy stories and characters, and thus SGC was born. In 2021, after hiring my editor (who isn't on here sadly) we worked together to get the first 5 launched. It's been over a year since releasing SGC5, but I'm happy to finally get back into it.

Making sure to avoid getting my ass handed to me–

This is D.E.R.P in a nutshell!

DERP stands for Dahlia Empowered Records and Profiles! The concept of it in meta was that there were so many Empowered events happening in Dahlia and obviously someone had to be documenting it, so why not make an organization responsible for documenting the occurrence of those events similar to the Magnus Archives?

The story itself follows Alistair Roth–a telepath and the head archivist of the facility who organizes the events documented by his organization. These documents come in the form of recorded interviews told from the perspective of the listeners themselves!

The narrative is set after inversion where so much has happened and records need to organized by Alistair so he can piece together what happened that day and get to the truth behind the matter!

Overall, the concept involved an auditory retelling of events from the listener's perspective and the first script produced was an interview with lovely after being turned. It's still a WIP given that I had put this away in favour of starting NeXus but I'm picking it up again because I do like the concept a lot!

All-New Update 2025 Dodge Charger Ultimate Reviews

The 2025 Dodge Charger is a muscle car that returns to the Dodge lineup for 2025. But it is more than just new from the tire side: it comes in two body styles this time.

Like the previous generation, there will be a four-door sedan, but this time, there will also be a two-door fastback coupe in the lineup. The old-style HEMI V-8 engine is gone, and a twin-turbo inline-six engine will be in place with 420 or 550 horsepower feeding the standard all-wheel drive.

The 2025 Charger is equipped with driver assistance features that would have seemed like science fiction in the 1960s, including adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and lane-keeping assistance.

The 2025 Dodge Charger will go into production in early 2025 and will grace Dodge showrooms with its sleek new look shortly after that. In a nutshell: Everything. The Charger has been redesigned from scratch, and despite its vintage aesthetic, it remains a modern muscle car.

The 2025 Dodge Charger model is also an electric variant called the Charger Daytona, which will be sold alongside this gas-powered model. We reviewed the Charger Daytona separately. The price of the 2025 Dodge Charger is expected to start around $40,000 and go up to $50,000 depending on the trim and options.

The 2025 Dodge Charger model will be offered at launch in Standard Output (S.O.) or High Output (H.O.) configurations. We have yet to get all the information, but the 550-horsepower Sixpack H.O. is a tantalizing 130-horsepower increase. Dodge will likely offer trims like Scat Pack, GT, and R/T when the 2025 Charger is officially unveiled, but we haven't heard any specifics.

I’ve been shifting there since I was 17, so it’s one of my first drs. I experienced my 1st-3rd year there and currently I just graduated UA during my shift in December. I shift there more often than a majority of my drs. It’s honestly a second home to me. I’ve learned quite a lot culturally, especially about the pro hero field. Speaking of pro hero field I’m currently a hero in training. I’m a hero internee for Endeavor and Deku, Todoroki and Bakugo are my commands along side other pros like Mirko and Hawks. I live on Endeavor’s agency property at the moment. I’ve experienced most timelines from the show including the war arc events. (If you have any questions about Mha if you plan on shifting there I can definitely answer them for you if you’re curious)

I travel with Bakugo and Kirishima we go all over we’ve been to soooo many places already I’m still scripting for it too. I’m engaged to Bakugo there and we travel with our pet companions (Counting Kiri since he’s a dragon shape shifter there)

The enemy could try to attack Fable in Zable's closed eyed vessel body slow walking away similar to Eriko's walk away but the next hit Fable will adapt to the attacks by dodging then just walk out.

I imagine a REALTORs doing their victory speech but Fable knows the house plans.

If you try to force Zable Fable to say things against their will Fable will stop Zable from saying mid sentence then say try again later.

Maybe hear a faint voice in the person's head who is trying to make Zable say something against their will like.

Or make them say it.

I imagine if John Doe tried to make Zable say something against the character's will like in ending 4 then I imagine like Fable poking someone's eyes like a three stooges act then slapping you in the face for messing with their host.

Maybe telepathy poke the enemy's brain a little by thinking the enemy is safe in their own mind but will occasionally mess with them.

Saw this neat dating sim game and this Angel guy gives me reverse Nergal from Billy And Mandy vibes with the form this creature takes.

 It was a pretty set, with a teapot and matching sugar bowl. When I’d commented on it, he’d told me he would compromise on a lot of things, but never tea. And yet he’d left this behind. 

1) First off, bold of you to assume that he went back willingly

2) Weird of you to think that they wouldn’t have any tea in Ireland. Have you ever met an Irishman who wasn’t nuts about tea?

“If you’re in trouble, you should talk to your Clan Alpha. No matter what’s happened between you, he has a responsibility to help you.”

Full offence, but his help has only led to Vail being in worsening trouble. 

Which alpha, you ask? Literally all of them. They’re all shit. Every single one of them without redemption. 

I pulled away and shook my head at him. “Been there, and have the tracker scar to prove it.”

Chapter 3 summary: Callum is quick to leave to go continue fucking his MILF, Tily. I am once again asking what Callum is getting from any of this if it’s not fucking Vail. 

Anyway, she mopes around for a bit, before she wanders to the dud dorm. There, the duds all but laugh at her after she “chose” Callum… Apparently the thought of being forced is beyond them. She goes to the nurse’s office, where the nurse tells her that the alpha has been going around and healing people. The attackers used tranquillisers, so nobody was actually killed, but there were some injuries. 

Vail then randomly goes to Mr. Wentworth’s office, and is surprised to find him there. She thought that he’d gone back to Ireland. He says all of this stuff about wishing that he’d known how shit would have turned out the night he handed Vail over to Trey, but like… If you actually gave a shit about her, I feel like he would be working endlessly to get her out from this rapist factory. 

Anyway, he keeps hammering on how “the alpha can protect you. Go seek guidance from the alpha!” But to Vail, that’s like saying “It’s only a little bit of a bullet to the brain! Go back to the people who put it there in the first place!” She’s naturally like “No thanks.” 

Chapter 4

“You’re going to leave?” Nadia looked horrified. “Vail, you can’t! The last time you went home, the Black Den Pack almost killed you!” 

Jasmine’s nod was so vigorous, it sent her blonde curls flying. “Not to mention the fact they’re still sweeping bits of fur off the front steps!”

It hasn’t even been a full day since it happened! 

“I’m sorry, Vail. I really love you like a sister, which is why I have to tell Jasper about this.” 

Her confession felt like a blow. I tried to tell myself it wasn’t a betrayal. She really believed Jasper Arras was the only one who could help me.

The stupidest part about this is that she witnessed the events of the second book. She saw the way that Jasper had literally shackled Vail. 

AND SHE STILL FUCKING THINKS THAT JASPER IS THE SOLUTION TO ALL OF VAIL’S PROBLEMS. 

“Um. No.” I took the slip of paper from my pocket and checked the name. “Mr. Wentworth said to try here…”

“Information on voids. Mr. Wentworth loaned me a book by Laurence Marrow, and I was hoping for something similar.” 

The other librarian was on the computer, but her glance was sharp. “We don’t stock books like that. If you have questions about cursed wolves, you should ask your teachers.”

I shouldn’t even be surprised that the librarians at this cursed school are fucking terrible at their jobs, and have zero listening comprehension. 

“But there are others? You’ve met shifters that weren’t wolves?”

 “That’s what a void is, Vail,” he said gently. “Just a different kind of shifter.”

You’ve got to be shitting me right now. 

Except our audience was male, had eyes like blue flames, and was bristling with an alpha power I could feel through the door.

Chapter 4 summary: Vail sulks around the dud break room because she doesn’t know what else to do with her life. Eventually, her friends find her, and Vail tells them that she has to get in contact with Darkness. That this will magically make everything better. Newly minted alpha Marnie doesn’t view going against the pack as a good thing, and warns that she’s going to tell Jasper about anything Vail does. So much for that friendship. The omegas convince her to help Vail to escape, but I’m not sure that I’d trust her after that. 

Vail then goes to the library, since Mr. Wentworth had given her instructions to do so. Once there, she finds out that Theo Grille isn’t an author, but one of the school librarians. He takes her into a room full of rare books, and then does a partial shift: he’s a werefalcon. 

Theo explains to her that voids are only non-wolf shifters. Things that the wolves refuse to acknowledge or even pretend like they understand today. A long time ago, there used to be six different families, each with their own animal and territory in Europe. Now, the other 5 houses have been hunted to near extinction because the werewolves craved power that much. The entire thing basically boils down to racism. 

Theo’s own story is basically that he was once in Vail’s shoes. He was labelled a dud when he first came to the school, and was eventually bumped up to omega status. But his mother helped him to uncover who and what he actually is. The only way he knows how to survive is to keep his head down in the middle of the werewolves, which I guess is as good of a play as any. He’s also not an omega in the werefalcon circles; the different families have different ranking systems. 

At the end of this, as Vail is thanking him for this info, she looks up and sees an alpha. Considering that the next chapter is from Jasper’s POV, I’m pretty sure that it’s him.

Stiles was staring off at Scott and Tae but nodded at Ollie's words. "Yeah. That's what Scott said. But...honestly. Scott adopts everyone regardless so....he obviously really does like you." Stiles narrowed his eyes at him, then glanced an eye back at Scott. "Do you need me to?" He asked. "Because....dude....the girl he dated last year was a hunter. Yeah. Like a shifter hunter. Her whole damn family wanted him dead. So no....I think you are relatively harmless to him. I mean technically you could verbally hurt him. But then he just kind of looks like a kicked puppy and unless you are really into that sort of thing you likely wouldn't like it much. And never do it again. Or....his Mom will come after you. And honestly, bro. His Mom is really sort of scary. So yeah. I'm the last person you need to be worried about." He spread his hands like, there you have it. Our little family in a nutshell. "Course...my Dad has a gun." He scratched his cheek with a nail. "But Mrs. McCall sleeps with a bat. So...I guess it just depends."

Scott pulled back from Tae, a beaming smile on his face. "Dude. Stiles was right. You are totally hot and stuff. But like don't worry. I'm not going to molest you or anything. Besides...." He trailed off casting a glance over Ollie's way. "Kinda into someone else, you know?" But then attention was back on Tae. "So like...I need to tell you some stuff. 1. Don't let him push you away. He's totally scared right now. Scared makes him spazzier then normally so just you know.,...ask him if he's taken enough adderall if it gets too crazy. 2. I'm trusting you. I'm trusting you to take better care of him then Derek did. And I know you know about Derek because you've known Stiles for a while. And 3. Get to know his Dad. He's like the most important person in Stiles life. And protecting him. Is like the one thing you can do that will mean more to Stiles than anything else ever will. Okay?" He patted Tae on the shoulder.

Ollie giggles at the way Scott puffed out his chest and grins at the shirt for him. "I love it." He beams as he takes it from the wolf before Scott bolted over to tackle Tae leaving him alone with Stiles. "Um thank you." He says a bit shyly, cheeks flushed from embarrassment. "I don't mind, it's kind of sweet. I've never really had anyone do anything special for my birthday. Alpha Joon got me a cake a couple of times after I came to stay with them but I've never like had a party or anything. It's nice." He says softly as he admires the shirt for a moment before squeaking and flushing again when Stiles put the hat on his head. "Thank you." He giggles "Are you like gonna give me the best friend speech?"

Tae should have been prepared to be tackled by Scott since Stiles told him how happy go lucky his best friend was. It kind of reminded him of Manny, one of the Shadowhunters that transferred in a bit before he and Jia did. He just wasn't prepared for how strong Scott was, which he supposed was a misstep on his part considering the teenager was a wolf shifter and all. He let out a soft grunt before chuckling as he gave the young wolf a hug. "It's nice to finally meet you, Scott. Red has told me so much about you the past few years." He grins.

I can't draw AJ's hat on anyone else but her. Also decided to draw some characters I don't usually draw or not at all. Also slime rancher. :3

I also can't draw Rainbow's rainboom. But yeah, more of that drawing some characters I don't usually draw. Sniper owl because I wanted to draw a Merc with a bird head for once. And I guess a sort of a eating contest with Glamrock Chica and Scout. Tired Engie because I was sleepy when I drew this. And running apparently. (I wanted to draw Monster Kid tripping for once). So a lot of new drawing going on here.

Just an idea I had with spy and his line. More character doodles that I don't draw. Also "funny" David being addicted to camp or something idk- EdgeLord. And more. Also the final page of these doodles in that one notebook. Also also that last doodle is Flippy from @cookieelemon . Well inspired by them. That's him in a nutshell from their drawings.. moving on.

HEART'S BLOOD - CHAPTER 20

*Warning: Adult Content* 

Julian Hart and Dane Hunter leave Ian Foley at the lake. 

Julian’s cottage is about ten miles distant, as the crow flies, so Ian should make it there in well under an hour in bear form. 

Meanwhile Dane rides with Julian. 

Fortunately, Julian has a blanket in the back of his car and it’s big enough to drape over both of them. 

The young psychic’s wet clothes rest in a soggy mess in the back seat and he drives extra careful on the way home.

Julian: ‘I don’t need the stress of getting pulled over and having to explain why they were driving around naked on top of everything else.’

“How did you find me anyway?” Julian asks, looking over to see Dane watching him intently. 

The handsome detective looks uncomfortable and glances away.

“You weren’t at home and you didn’t answer your phone, so I tracked you.”

Suddenly Julian realizes something.

“Oh, shit.”

“What?”

“My phone. It was in my jacket pocket.”

Meaning it had come along for the swim.

“Maybe it will be okay.”

“Maybe.”

He doubt its though. 

It’s already several years behind the latest models. 

None of which he can afford right now. 

Turning back to what Dane had said, Julian asks...

“You’re sense of smell is that good. You can track me all the way across town?”

“Uh... Not really,” he admits. 

“I put a GPS tracker under your seat.”

“You...” Julian’s first reaction is indignation that Dane had done so without asking. On the other hand... 

“Thank you. I don’t think Ian would have hurt me but I’ve been wrong about that before. I’m glad you showed up when you did.”

Dane doesn’t respond, so they make the rest of the journey in silence. 

When they reach the cottage, Julian sees Dane’s clothes scattered over the ground in a line from the front door leading towards the woods. 

Usually he leaves his things in a neatly folded pile.

“I guess you were in a hurry, huh?” Julian asks, picking up a sock. Dane stops midway though buttoning up his pants. 

“Do you know how scared I was, Julian?” he asks, his voice is low and there is a hint of a growl at the bottom that makes Julian shiver. 

The handsome detective walks towards Julian with purpose and the psychic steps back, involuntarily. 

He stops, then starts again, slower and Julian lets him approach. 

The young psychic is still wrapped in the scratchy old blanket and the handsome detective’s hands feel smooth and warm as Dane slips them under it and pulls Julian against him.

“I saw the tag on your tracker heading out of town towards the lake,” Dane says 

“And I had no idea what to think, or what I would find when I got there. I was so afraid and I lost my human mind in it. I don’t remember anything from that moment until I saw you trying to drown your fool self.” 

“I didn’t know what else to do. I admit I was worried you would get hurt. Ian’s a bear, in more ways than I thought.”

“Ian Foley. I hate that guy,” Dane mutters, against Julian’s hair. 

“Goddamn shifter.”

“I don’t understand,” Julian says, pulling away from Dane reluctantly. 

His warmth was doing a lot to take away the deep chill that was still numbing young psychic’s body. 

“How are shifters different to werewolves?”

Detective Dane hunter sighs.

“In a nutshell, being a werewolf is... a condition. It’s my nature. I can’t stop being a werewolf anymore than I can stop being a man or change the colour of my skin. Being a shifter is a skill. Something that can be learnt and taught. Skinwalker are one variety of shifter, but there are others, other traditions, other methods. Not all are bad and some are worse than others.”

“What kind is Ian?” Julian asks and Dane just shrugs.

“You’ll have to ask Ian. Some kind of hybrid of Indigenous American and old European traditions, is my guess. Maybe Celtic or Norse.”

“Let’s go inside,” Julian says, sighing. 

“Ian should be here soon.”

Ten minutes later, there is a knock at the door and Dane answers it. 

Ian Foley stands on the other side and the two spend a good fifteen seconds locked in a staring contest.

“Okay, you guys can stop put away the ruler,” Julian says, picking some dirt from under his nail. 

“Dane’s is bigger. I’ve seen it.

Ian’s face flushes red and he looks away. 

Dane seems pleased and Julian rolls his eyes.

He is glad to see that Ian has stopped somewhere along the way and found some clothes. 

What he had been wearing earlier had been torn to shreds when he shifted. 

Ian comes in and invites himself to sit on the sofa. 

Julian takes a seat but Dane stays standing, leaning against a wall.

“Alright Ian,” Julian says crossing his arms across his chest. 

“This is what you wanted, right? To talk? So talk.”

Julian is wearing his warmest sweater but he still hasn't shaken the chill of the lake and a nasty headache has started to throb behind his temples. 

Ian rubs his hands nervously. 

“I’m not sure where to start,” he says.

“Start at the beginning.” Dane suggests.

Ian glares at him but then exhales...

“Alright... I guess the beginning was my great, great... I don’t know how many greats, but an ancestor who was a trapper and an explorer in the Southwest back in the early 1800s. He lived with the local tribes and learnt about witchcraft and skin-walking from them. He went back to Ireland and learnt more there. He started his own clan to carry on the tradition, mostly blood relations, but outsiders too, if they sought him out and they proved worthy.”

Ian pauses and Julian can tell he wants a drink. 

This is more than he has talked in a week. 

Julian stands up and gets Ian a glass of water. 

That’s all he’s welcome to at the moment. 

He takes the glass of water from Julian without comment and goes on...

“The tradition got carried on down the line. there is always a chief witch, the strongest male shifter in the clan. Up until now, it’s always been the direct descendant of the first. My dad has been worried for a long time because we both know, I’m not fit. Sure, I’m strong.” Ian shrugs. 

“But even I know it takes more than that. It might pass to me, if there is not challengers. But there is always some ambitious upstart waiting for a chance. And then these murders started...”

“What makes you think it’s your dad?”

Ian looks up at and meets Julian’s eyes.

“Because he’s getting old, losing his edge. He’s getting paranoid, afraid someone’s going to steal the clan out from under him before he has a chance to get me ready for it. The worst thing is, I think he’s doing it for me,” Ian sighs and looks at his hands. 

“Our clan has always been peaceful, for the most part,” he adds. 

“I mean, we defend our own but we don’t go looking for trouble. And we don’t practise dark shit like some shifters do. Still, it’s in the lore, ways to gain power. One way is to eat the heart of someone with power of their own. Especially if it’s a power they haven’t tapped into yet, maybe they don’t even know they have it. Virgin Nascent Power,” Ian warns, looking up at Julian, who looks away, uncomfortable with his ex-boyfriend’s gaze.

“Okay. So why would he be after me? I know about my gift and I use it all the time.”

Ian Foley shakes his head.

“Not that. There’s something else in you. I see it. Right beneath the surface. You are shining with it,” Ian says, jerking his head towards Dane. 

“He sees it too, that’s why he wants you.”

Dane scowls at him.

“You don’t know me, Ian Foley,” he says. 

“Don’t presume you do.”

Ian shrugs at Dane’s comment.

“Just saying.”

Julian mulls over his words. 

If he has some sort of power other than his gift for clairsentience, Ian is right, and the young psychic doesn't know about it. 

After a while a thought occurs to Julian...

“Is your dad a bear too?” he asks.

Ian shakes his head.

“No. He’s a coyote.”

“Wait. Aren’t coyotes small.”

Ian shrugs his shoulders again.

“Size isn’t everything.”

Julian sees the corner of Dane’s mouth twitch.

“Do shifters heal as fast as werewolves?”

Dane shakes his head.

“No. Not usually.” he replies. 

“I shot the one that attacked us. Remember. In the arm. Ian, have you seen your dad up close since last night? Did he have any injuries?”

“Yeah. I saw him this morning. He wasn’t hurt.”

“Are you certain?”

“Yeah. He had his shirt off, splitting wood.”

“It’s not him,” Dane states. 

Ian Foley exhales sharply and covers his face with his hands.

“It’s not him,” he echoes, voice chocked with uncharacteristic emotion. 

“Oh, God. It’s not him.”

“Which begs the question,” Julian says. 

“Who is it then?”

“Ian, do you know all the members of your clan? Do they all live near by?”

“Within a hundred miles,” Ian confirms. 

“I’ll get you a list.”

Dane nods and Ian raises from the sofa and Julian does as well. 

“Ian you have a back-assed way of doing things but a least your heart was in the right place this time.” 

Ian nods and holds Julian gaze for a moment, then turns and leaves. 

When he’s gone, Julian heads for the shower. 

It’s days like this that he wished he had a proper bathtub. 

One of those big, deep ones that use guilt-inducing quantities of water.

Instead he makes do with a quick rinse under the hot spray of the shower. 

Dane doesn’t say anything when Julian comes out and he passes him without a word on his way to take his turn in the shower. 

He can’t tell if Dane is just absorbed in thought or if he’s still mad at him for trusting Ian. 

Julian is too tired to worry about it and crawls into bed, curling into a ball beneath the blankets to warm up.  

A few minutes later Dane joins him. 

He slips beneath the sheets and pulls Julian against him, kissing the top of his shoulder and the side of his neck. 

One hand slides under his shirt and over his chest.

“Getting warmer?” he asks. 

Julian rolls onto his side and Dane shifts himself to lie over his slender body. 

The weight of him should scare him but instead it feels good, solid and comforting. 

Dane rubs himself against Julian through his briefs and his breath snags at the base of his throat. 

Suddenly he wants more, a lot more.

“Dane,” he says, as he reaches down to touches Dane through the thin layer of his boxers. 

He is hot and hard and thick in all the right ways.

“I want you now.”

Dane knows what he means but to Julian’s surprise, he shakes his head. 

“I can’t. Not like that.”

Julian frowns up at Dane.

“Why? Don’t you want to? Don’t you like it?”

Dane rolls off Julian and sits up at the edge of the bed.

“God, Julian. I want to. You have no idea how much I want to. But if I take you that way, It means I belong to you, body and soul. If I claimed you like that, I would make you mine. We would be mated.”

“Wait. Does that mean that you have never...”

Dane shakes his head.

“Every way but all the way,” he answers. 

Julian is not sure how he feels. 

On one hand it sort of makes him happy. 

On the other hand, he finally feels he’s ready to let Dane have sex with him and he is basically saying he doesn’t believe in sex before marriage.

“Dane?”

“Yeah?”

“Was that true, what Ian said about you being able to see something in me?”

“Yeah,” Dane admits.

“Is that why... you like me?

He turns to face Julian and his expression is deadly serious.

“No,” he says. 

“That’s not why.”

“Why, then?”

Dane shrugs.

“I can’t explain it. You’re just... you.”

“Hmm...” Julian murmurs thoughtfully and then he sighs. 

“I’m sorry. I like you, Dane. I want to spend a lot of time with you but I’m not ready to exchange rings just yet.”

“I didn’t expect you to be,” Dane assures him.

“In that case, why don’t you show me what exactually ‘every way but all the way’ means to you.”

Dane’s amber-coloured eyes light up with a hunter’s gleam and a slow grin stretches his sexy lips. 

There is no doubt about it, Julian thinks, as the handsome detective crawls back towards him across the bed. 

Julian: ‘Dane Hunter is defiantly a wolf.’
