I don't know much with how magic works in DnD but, if I am understanding this correctly, maybe Gale considers himself a Wizard because he chooses to study magic further? Like, he is technically a sorcerer considering he could probably do most spells instinctively (like you mentioned with the conjuring rabbits as a toddler) but since he studied magic further, and as an academic, he prefers to use the term wizard instead?
So I know people wonder about Gale's innate ability with magic from childhood. Namely, why he doesn't qualify as a sorcerer. I did some digging, and came across the concept of 'the Gift'.
Established by Ed Greenwood, the Gift is what any magic user needs to be able do magic in the realms--even wizards! It's an innate ability to engage with magic in any capacity.
Then I remembered this line from Mystra when she speaks to Gale:
“When the Karsite Weave entered your body, your gifts were the first things it consumed."
So, it sounds like the orb ate away at his fundamental ability to engage with magic at all.
As a prodigy, Gale was gifted. He had an innate ability to engage with the weave. Sorcerers manipulate magic instinctively through their bloodline, while wizards do it by studying spellwork. This all makes sense to me. I see the distinction between the Gift and Sorcerer magic.
What I still can't make sense of is how he was conjuring rabbits as a toddler, without someone having shown him a spell for it first. Any ideas?
Maybe @dekariosclan?

Meat and Tubes
Shepard once said to Kaidan that they were described as ‘just meat and tubes’ but he never could imagine it - never wanted to.
Then they had to go and die on him a second time.
Now he sat in one of the best medical facilities still standing, watching as monitors beeped steadily. Was this worse than when Shepard was recovered over Alchera? Cerberus had the funds and facilities to revive them.
Just because Shepard managed to come back from meat and tubes once, doesn’t mean it could happen again.
But, God, does Kaidan wish it so.

Too lazy to draw but the idea of Kaidan helping Shepard cut their hair is giving me life atm

I am in love with the platonic Joker and Shepard dynamic so much that Ursa and Joker have become almost like siblings in my lore and now I've broke myself with another idea that I should really write/draw: Post-Horizon, Joker is the only one who knows about previous Kaidan/Shepard and so he heads up to her quarters to check on her properly - away from the formalities of Pilot and Commander and as soon as Shepard sets eyes on Joker she just breaks down. They don't speak. It isn't needed. Joker just approaches her on her bed and holds Ursa - not Commander Shepard. Ursa. He lets her break down in his arms until his uniform is soaked. Ursa mutters a small "thank you." and neither of them speak more on it. Joker stays a little longer, makes quips until Ursa feels a little more human before he leaves, back into simply being Commander and Pilot.

Started a re-run to finish my achievements and do insanity mode and I wasn't expecting ME2 to be the roadblock for this reason specifically!! Had to take a break to not skip all the way to ME3 with Ursa cause I really need these achievements.
So is Mass Effect 2 literally ONLY recruiting people? I was assuming you recruit a few people and then the real plot starts, is the recruitment actually the main plot? It's fine by me if so, it's just... unexpected

Would You Fall In Love With Me Again from Epic gives me major Shenko vibes and I'm starting to think thats how Ursa and Kaidan's reunion on Horizon goes. Kaidan is in utter shock because, despite the rumours and how much he wanted to believe them, he saw Shepard get spaced. She looked different with scars and she hadn't dyed her hair but that was Shepard. Plus, I fully believe Ursa would break down and confess EVERYTHING to Kaidan in one big rush. "I was clinically dead and revived by Cerberus agaisnt my will and I've been their little plaything ever since and I kept on looking for you but they wouldn't let me--" Maybe I am delusional but I feel like Kaidan would be a bit more lenient on Horizon? He'd still be cautious and definitly iffy about Shep with Cerberus but I think he'd try to understand. I might just be rambling--

I think I am finally going to try and write a full fanfic for my dear Shepard, Ursa, and what she got up to in ME2 specifically - I don't have much to rewrite in her ME1 playthrough and I haven't gotten to ME3 with her yet. I'm not used to writing fanfics nor posting them so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on uploading to both here and Ao3? Like formatting and basic writing tips to make the experience enjoyable for the reader <3 Thank you in advance
(and thank you to @spacevixen2024 for encouraging me. Hope you don't mind the tag)

Just finished playing Horizon for ME2 and now my brain is swimming in thoughts about Kaidan n Shep's reaction to the confrontation - specifically my Shep Ursa so its Fshenko.
Shepard would probably be so wrecked from working with Cerberus - Ursa is also a Sole Survivor Shep so she's extremely confused and scared - that she probably wouldn't take seeing Kaidan again well :( It does mean I get to have fun picking some more renegade options for the rest of the playthrough now.
Personally, I feel like the only thing that was keeping Ursa going was the possibilty of Kaidan being out there and seeing him again. Now that she fumbled (because for her, she has a bit of an outburst at him) their reunion, Ursa has given up on finding a way out of the Omega 4 relay alive.
Ursa becomes reckless and dangerous. Exactly what the illusive man wants in a way - someone who will get the job done.

Does anyone know if human biotics need implants to survive? Just because I imagine getting an implant is pretty expensive and I've been wracking my head around an Earthborn Biotic Shepard using biotics until they enlist - maybe the alliance do the proceedure for free on their soldiers?? Is there a point where it becomes too risky to preform an implant surgery age wise? I might just be dumb but I do not remember seeing much background on it. Just the differences between each implant.

For the OC ask.
Do you have a playlist for them?
I do! It's still underdevelopment atm but right now for Ursa I have: All For Us - Labrinth, Zendaya
For this I was thinking more young Ursa on Earth. She was a biotic in a gang so she probably had some form of a red sand addiction and I also imagine she smoked a lot. I also think in general a lot of the lyrics fit how I imagine her character to be.
Headlock, Imogen Heap
This one is definitely more from the general vibe of the song but some of the lyrics do relate to her such as "You know you're better than this." - especially in the context of ME2
Messy, Lola Young
Definitely more a song for younger Ursa (I guess it also helps that I headcanon my Shep to be from England - undecided where atm). I think I relate it more to her when she joins the military. It's a stressful transission and Ursa often felt like nothing she was, was good enough. Diet Mountian Dew, Lana Del Rey
Not much to say on this one, just vibes mainly.
Hard Times, Paramore
This one is another general one (not linked to a specific time in her life/story). Shepard's story in general is one big event after another without having much of a break inbetween. I think the genre of Paramore also helps connect the whole idea with Ursa as well.
Thank you so much for asking <3 <3

I scroll the same tags over and over again so much that I am afraid that I've reblogged the same post more than once.
It will happen again.

Bit of an update but I've scrapped the whole ME2 story rewrite idea. It was just too much for me and I'm definitly better at drawing than I am at writing. HOWEVER! I am planning out a one-shot of the Horizon interaction. I do plan on completing it - even though I struggle with completing anything atm - but I cannot say how long it will take nor how good it would be. I do have to say I am in a bit of a limbo between interests at the moment. ME2 insanity is kicking my arse and I've been playing some more cosy games in response recently so I also just haven't had energy to finish some of my mass effect projects :(
I think I am finally going to try and write a full fanfic for my dear Shepard, Ursa, and what she got up to in ME2 specifically - I don't have much to rewrite in her ME1 playthrough and I haven't gotten to ME3 with her yet.
