Blast the Book of Genesis, Chapter 1 from the Bible so we can finally know what was the first creature God created.
[1:1] In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
[1:2] the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.
[1:3] Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
[1:4] And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
[1:5] God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
[1:6] And God said, "Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."
[1:7] So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so.
[1:8] God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
[1:9] And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so.
[1:10] God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
[1:11] Then God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it." And it was so.
[1:12] The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good.
[1:13] And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.
[1:14] And God said, "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years,
[1:15] and let them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth." And it was so.
[1:16] God made the two great lights - the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night - and the stars.
[1:17] God set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth,
[1:18] to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
[1:19] And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
[1:20] And God said, "Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky."
[1:21] So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
[1:22] God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."
[1:23] And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.
[1:24] And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind." And it was so.
[1:25] God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
[1:26] Then God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."
[1:27] So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
[1:28] God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."
[1:29] God said, "See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.
[1:30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so.
[1:31] God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Things Found On The SOLDIER Bulletin Board Before It Got Banned
Also known among the operatives as "Exhibit A in HR's Case Against Us" and "Why Lazard drinks"
• An old timey style wanted poster of Sephiroth.
• A Shinra Crypto Pyramid Scheme Recruitment Poster: "Get rich! Ask me how!" flyer definitely not put up by Genesis.
• A candid, casual shot of Angeal in a towel, with a sticky note on it that reads "This man's physique is impeccable and we should all strive to look like him - Kunsel"
• An unofficial and deeply Inappropriate SOLDIER length ranking. A full infographic-style chart titled "Who's Really First Class?" — featuring stylized silhouettes, pixelated measurements, very unscientific bar graphs, with one bar labeled "??? (Sephiroth)" that pierced through the top of the page and kept going onto the wall behind.
• A heavily redacted mission report re-titled "How To Get Bitches In Wall Market" By Roche. Accompanied by a pinned photo of Roche, Zack, Kunsel and Cloud in front of the Honeybee Inn doing a thumbs up. Entire paragraphs blacked out with Sharpie by Lazard.
• A sign reading: "STOP SCREAMING IN THE AIR DUCTS." Below it: a list of times screams were heard, organized by pitch. "3:12 AM – Zack: "YOU'LL NEVER CATCH ME ALIVE," 4:47 AM – Genesis: operatic shriek followed by "What an ADORABLE rat!",, "2:16 PM – Kunsel: 🎶 Vent mann, he's in the vents 🎶 Who's gonna tell 'im he can't be in the vents? 🎶
• A complaint letter written entirely in Wingdings. No one could decipher what it said, but Sephiroth pinned it dead center with his sword and left it there for a week. Genesis claimed it translated to "STOP LEAVING RAW EGGS IN THE SHOWERS. THE HOT WATER IS COOKING THEM."
• "Kunsel Knows" Weekly Gossip Column. Typed, laminated, and mysteriously accurate. This week's headline: "Rufus and Tseng: Covert Lovers?" Kunsel denies authorship every time while distributing fresh copies.
• A photo labeled "Sephiroth, age 6." Except it was clearly taken recently. Featured a photo of Sephiroth happily filling a coloring page while eating animal crackers.
• A prayer candle with Lazard's face on it nailed to the bulletin board. Taped under the header: "Our Administrative Savior, Deliver Us From Overtime." Lit regularly by Angeal. Burned through the wall once. No one confessed.
• "Sign Up for the Shirtless Sparring Tournament!" flyer sponsored unofficially by Zack. Angeal's name was written 42 times all in different handwriting by different people. Among them was noticeably Sephiroth's handwriting 12 times.
• An updated Lost and Found photo collage of strange things retrieved from the training room. Notable entries included: A weaponized tree branch with "property of Sephiroth" carved into it, an Angeal body pillow, a molotov cocktail, a Genesis-themed rubber duck, Cloud Strife looking confused, and a suspicious flashlight.
• A flyer titled: "Genesis Says He Can Fly Now, Come Watch at Noon"
• A very official-looking memo from HR titled "You Are Not Allowed To Challenge Sephiroth To Arm Wrestling, Ever Again."
• A letter addressed to Lazard written entirely in glitter pen that read only: "You can't fire us all. ❤️"
• A laminated page titled "Forbidden Moves Banned From Sparring" Included: A photo of Sephiroth and Genesis beating each other with makeshift marker swords.
• Two photos pinned side by side: one of Sephiroth and the other of ex-turk Vincent Valentine. People would gather around while Kunsel divulged his theories using a presentation pointer stick.

Okay, two things:
LGBTQ+ pride FTW 20always, baby!!!!!!!!!!!
Many members of the LGBTQ+ community are in places where it's harmful or even actively dangerous for them to display that pride
So! As someone who's just... wandered into a lot of youtube videos and internet essays and classic literature classes that involved conservative religious terminology, has an English (aka formal bullshitting) degree, and who got an A+ in my neurodivergent masking abilities, I'm gonna let you in on a phrase that's basically a life hack for establishing certain boundaries:
'God has called me.' No seriously, hear me out. This isn't a conservative Christian hype post, it's about how to use the language of conservative Christians to your own ends.
Example 1: Instead of "I'm asexual, I'm not interested in sex," try "God has called me to celibacy." Also works if you're married and the two of you aren't planning on having kids, regardless of if you're actually having sex or not.
Example 2: You're aromantic or have preferences other than straight but aren't in a place where that's safe to admit to: "God has called me to singleness." This also works if you are straight but just aren't in the space to date at the moment.
Example 3: You're going somewhere that might raise some eyebrows but you really want to go to because these are Your People? "God has called me to minister at [place you want to go]." I recommend ministering with the Songs of Solomon (because if you turn your head ever so slightly to the left, they are so much hornier than you'd expect).
Again, this isn't about being a good Christian, or even actually believing in God; it's about framing your truths and experiences in a way conservatives understand and respect. It's about hiding in plain sight during a time where it's even less safe for the LGBTQ+ community than it already was, and being able to establish certain boundaries for yourself in safe ways. It's about saying your truth in ways they'll actually hear.
Also, if you're in a place where people commonly talk about Bible verses and such, I recommend John 11:35 and/or Genesis 9:13 to claim as your personal fav.
John 11:35 "Jesus wept."
It's the shortest verse in the entire bible, and I honestly do like this one a lot. Weeping is something typically done when you can do nothing else. It is heartbreak, frustration, despair, utter and helpless sorrow. And I like the idea of a son of god/prophet/guy doing his best to establish change being characterized as able to weep; it indicates that there is an understanding of these emotions, and thus the potential for empathy and compassion for those who also experience them.
Genesis 9:13 "I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth."
It's from the end of the Noah story, God's promising not to flood the world again, no matter what humans do from this point on, because he's decided that that was an excessive reaction on his part. An indication that, while all-knowing and all-powerful, he's still capable of error. More importantly, rainbow cameo.
Anyway, hope this is useful to someone out there, and that everyone's staying as safe as possible in these never-ending Historical Events.
EDIT!!!
@ellipsiswears #raised in church disclaimer: that was not what the rainbow after the flood meant#one of the fundamental tenets of Christianity is that God is perfect does not err#so I recommend not saying that to a Christian unless you're ready for a Discussion#stay safe y'all
^Very important addition! I got a little lost in the sauce of personal interpretation and ways that verse could be read! I did grow up nominally Christian, but neither I nor anyone in my direct family are fundamentalist. And the church that I was with the longest and that my parents still attend from time to time is constantly on the cusp of being kicked out of our denomination for being 'too liberal.' Stay safe, do what research you're comfortable with, and don't be afraid to fact-check me and others like me; we are well-intentioned, but still fallible.
Please feel free to add to this thread with more information and suggestions regarding this topic, in the notes, in the tags, by adding to the thread proper, whatever. This isn't a topic or strategy I've seen discussed anywhere else, and I want people who might benefit from it to have it!
.
(Also, to be clear on the perspective I'm coming from, my own personal belief system boils down to "I firmly believe that there is something Big and Good out there, and there are many correct ways to connect with it and many proper names for it.")

It's going to be biblical 👇
The only conclusion here is: AMERICA....REPENT!
Think the coming eclipse is nothing? I did, too, until I discovered all these FACTS!
I don't claim to know what all of this means, exactly, but I believe it's important enough for all of us to be aware that this is happening and pray for wisdom.
On April 8th, 2024, there will be an eclipse. One eclipse is already amazing but this one is actually the last in a 3-part series that has SO much meaning behind it. It is important that we recognize that God said that He would use the sun, moon and stars to communicate with us:
Genesis 1:14- "Then God said, 'Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years..."
Luke 21:25 - "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea."
So now we know that God said that He would use the sun, moon and stars to communicate with us, so let's break down this 3-part eclipse series:
1) With the path of this last eclipse, combined with the first 2 eclipses (one in 2017 and the other in 2023), it will create the Hebrew letter over America that is "Aleph Tav" and in Greek it is the "Alpha and Omega" - both means "The beginning and the end." God said in Revelation 21:6 that He is the beginning and the end and this Aleph Tav is like His signature. Why would He use an eclipse to put His signature over America? Let's dig deeper:
2) God has used eclipses to warn nations of coming judgement so that the nation can repent of their sinful ways and come back to Him. This happened with the story of Ninevah. God told Jonah to go to the wicked nation of Ninevah and warn them about coming judgement. Jonah ran away from the assignment and while out at sea got swallowed up by a huge fish and was in its belly for 3 days. Jonah repented of running away so the whale spit him up. He then went to Ninevah and warned the people but there was something that also happened while he was warning the people...an eclipse came over the land.
In the 19th century, ancient tablets were discovered that described an eclipse called the Bur-Sagale eclipse where the totality of the eclipse landed right over Ninevah while Jonah was there preaching of the 40 day warning before the coming destruction. Because of this, the people realized that this was a sign from God that what Jonah was saying was true and they repented and God spared their nation.
It is amazing how much America mirrors Ninevah. (If you don't see it, you may be part of the problem.) To make this even more clear, this last eclipse on April 8th will be going over 7 cities here in America called - yep you guessed it - NINEVAH! I honestly didn't even know that we had any city here in the U.S. named that but here we are - with this eclipse going over these cities (and there will be an 8th one that it goes over also called Ninevah in Canada.)
Here are the cities: 👇
Nineveh, Texas
Nineveh, Missouri
Nineveh, Indiana (this will be the highest magnitude of eclipse Mag 1.023, the local time predicted for it to occur is at 3:07 PM)
Nineveh, Ohio
Nineveh, Pennsylvania
Nineveh, Virginia
Nineveh, New York
Nineveh, Nova Scotia (Not in the US)
Could this be that God is warning us just as He warned Ninevah? There have been many "Jonahs" in the past few years warning the nation that we need to repent and add in this sign above our heads - we can't turn away from the fact that it is not a coincidence. But if you need more proof, let's keep going...
The first part of this 3 part eclipse series was in 2017. The path of that eclipse went over 7 cities named Salem, which is short for Jerusalem (Ps. 76).
Salem, Oregon
Salem, Idaho
Salem, Wyoming
Salem, Nebraska
Salem, Missouri
Salem, Kentucky
Salem, South Carolina
The mathematical "chances" of there being 7 Salem's with the first eclipse and then 7 Ninevah's for the 3rd eclipse is unthinkable. But what about the 2nd part of the eclipse?
4) Perhaps the most striking piece of the 2nd eclipse is that the precise center-line of eclipse path exits the USA directly over Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi means the "Body of Christ" and is one of the only towns named that in the world!
But let's go back to this upcoming eclipse and dig even deeper...
4) Jonah was giving a 40 day warning to Ninevah during the eclipse. If you look at our April 8th eclipse and fast forward 40 days then you will get to May 18, 2024 - the day before Pentecost. The history of Pentecost is that is the last Spring Feast that the Lord has given us (there are 4 in the Spring and 3 in the Fall). This is the day that the Lord sent the Holy Spirit down to all those who have accepted Christ. We are told that the "Restrainer" (many believe this is the Holy Spirit) will be removed before the Tribulation could it be that this is a warning for that? I'm not sure as that is a worldwide event and this eclipse will be just over North America but it is something definitely to think and pray about for more clarity and wisdom. No matter what, there are too many things lining up for it to not be nothing and so my job is to get the information out to you all so that you can at least be aware of these signs that God is giving us so that you can pray about it.
But let's keep going...
5) From the start of this 3 part eclipse to the end, it will be 7 years. God uses numbers a lot to communicate with us, and 7 has a ton of meaning. A few examples are - He created the world in 7 days, there will be a 7 year tribulation, 7 is used for completion, etc.
) Going back to how this correlates with Jonah & Ninevah's story -at the time of this eclipse, there will be another sign in the sky...it will take place under the constellation, Cetus, which is the whale constellation! And not only will it pass through the 8 cities in North America named Ninevah, it will also pass through Jonah, Texas! Speaking of other towns that it will pass through, these are some of the other city names that it will go right over:
Rapture, Indiana
Williamston, Kentucky - this is where the Ark Encounter is located. The Ark Encounter is a full size replica of Noah's Ark.
Eagle Pass, Texas - where we are having so many border issues.
And the point where it crosses the 2017 eclipse to mark the center of the X is an area in southern Illinois called Little Egypt. What is even more fascinating about this is that Little Egypt is sandwiched in between 2 other cities called Alpha, Kentucky and Omega, Illinois - both having the 2017 eclipse come over their cities. Furthermore, the intersection of the 2017 and 2024 solar eclipses occurs directly over the New Madrid Fault Line, a major seismic zone. An earthquake along this fault line could potentially destroy the U.S., making it one of the most perilous fault lines in the country. I have no idea if this will happen or not, but there are too many things here that are all literally lining up to not share with everyone.
7) One more interesting fact is that there are 2,422 days in between the 2017 eclipse and the 2024 eclipse. If you look up 2422 in Strong's Concordance, an Bible concordance that has every word of the KJV, takes us to Exodus 1:19 which says,
"The midwives answered Pharaoh, "Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive."
Why would this be of any significance? Well, to me, it reminds me of how Jesus said that His return would be like a woman in labor with the signs of His coming growing stronger and closer together. We are at a point in history where we are seeing all of the signs that He gave us happening before our eyes. In fact, we are even seeing things that will happen during the tribulation get setup now. If we are seeing those things being setup now, that must mean that we are super close to it actually happening. Going back to God saying that He uses the sun, moon and stars to show us signs - and then Jesus saying that the signs of His coming will be like a woman in labor, well this information leading us back to Exodus 1:19 explaining that the Hebrew women have labor fast is so interesting to me! Could we be on the brink of the rapture and tribulation!? I don't know exactly when it will happen but Jesus did tell us that we would know the season and I do believe that we have been in that season for the past few years and are pushing closer and closer to it!
It is no secret that this world has gone mad and everyone knows that there is something happening behind the scenes that feels really uncomfortable. If you have that feeling, you are right! There is a major push for things to happen that were predicted to happen over 2,000 years ago. Most people seek their understanding in the wrong place though. They look to the news and the world to guide them; however, these sources will only bring more questions, not answers. It causes people to live in fear, anxiety and depression. However, Jesus didn't want us to live that way. He gave us the information so that we would know what is happening when we see these things. The first piece of living in His knowledge is accepting that God sent His son, Jesus, to die for our sins and on the 3rd day, Jesus rose from the grave and conquered death. The second piece is to repent to God of your sins and turn away from your sins. Most churches only teach how God loves you but don't teach repentance anymore and that is a HUGE part of your faith. Jesus said that there will be many who come to Him and say, "Lord, Lord, I knew you." But because they didn't repent of their sins and seek Jesus' ways instead of their own, He will reply, "Get away from me, I never knew you." We cannot just live however we want without any consequences. Even little children understand this concept, but it has been lost on most adults. This is why Ninevah was going to see destruction - because they were a self- serving, sinful nation - just like America is today. You can't change the heart of this nation, but you can change your heart and lead your homes to do the same. Third, pray for wisdom in these areas.
I know this has been incredibly deep but just like Proverbs 25:2 says, "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter." This sign in the sky will be right over your head in just a few weeks - will you have the eyes to see what it really means?"
You Decide 🤔

AWESOME ANON TAG
I was tagged by @justanothersimsblog @bool-prop and @simcatcher
Thank you!
1) How did you come up with such unique & fascinating characters?
It helps to have vivid imagination, but of course for a Sims story a lot if not most of the inspo comes from the Sims themselves. Every Sim has their own story to tell! And a lot of the time I would be drawn to downloading a Sim because of the way they 'spoke' to me. Joël and Cammie come immediately to mind. Joël was the creation of @moremirrah and Cammie the creation of @thenakedsim. I fell in love with both of those Sims as soon as I saw them. They had personalities and charisma that just leapt off the computer screen.
2) When you started writing your story, what did you take into consideration?
The foundation of my story was the attraction between Joël and Anita. So it was basically a love story but from quite a problematic perspective, because Anita was with Harry and had just given birth to Saffron. There was also a twenty year age difference between my two protagonists. So I suppose it would be safe to say that I considered there might be backlash from some readers. And as expected, Anita was the target of a lot of vitriol.
3) How did you shape each character’s background/family?
I have dozens of characters and the process is different for each. I'd run out of space if I had to detail the process for each OC, so I'll just provide the background for Roy as an example. Roy's backstory had its genesis in the fact that he was a sports agent, and that he came from Appaloosa Plains. There was a particular sprawling riverside homestead in Appaloosa Plains that I adored and wanted to decorate and use for gameplay, but the family that lived there had to be wealthy to be able to afford such a property. So Roy's family became well-to-do horse breeders and trainers to align with their surroundings and the horsey game play elements provided by AP. His competitiveness with his brother Douglas also was important in shaping his personality and his career direction.
4) Do you plan everything before starting, or are you more spontaneous?
I'm a total pantser.
5) Does reality inspire you, or do you rely more on your imagination?
I have to give a large slice of inspo to the game, especially when it comes to the characters. The traits, star signs and occupations provided by the game contribute a lot. For example Anita first appeared in my game as an NPC Police Officer, so a Police Officer she remained. She's also a Leo, which helped define her personality. But in general I'd say it's an even split between reality and imagination. I think the majority of my OCs share at least some of my life experiences. A few people I've met in RL have also made it into my story, for example Saoirse's boss, Nadia.
6) When did you KNOW you were going to make this story?
When I saw Joël autonomously kissing Anita!
7) What has shaped your story into being the way it is?
Definitely the response from readers, good and bad. Posting a story to a social media platform like Tumblr is a unique experience. There's a lot of positives, but negatives as well. One misstep and you can be cancelled. You have to be continually mindful of your audience and I have definitely censored myself on more than one occasion. I would have liked to explore darker themes too, particularly when it came to Naomi's story arc, but the feedback I received wasn't encouraging. So I more or less abandoned it. But you never know, I might resurrect it in the not too distant future!
I would like to tag @sircesimblr @deathfishstyx @pixeldistractions @zosa95 @mysimsloveaffair and @igglemouse. No pressure!💗

Matthew 10:7
As you go, preach, saying: ‘The Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.
Tumblr media
Note the time the Devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world (Luke 4:5) "in an instant of time" saying that the world has been given over to him and he could give it to whomever he chose, and the Devil chose Christ. The Devil said to Christ, "I will give you all this authority and their glory" (Luke 4:5-8).
Tumblr media
Who is the ruler of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4), is it not the Devil (Revelation 12:9)? And what are the inhabitants of the earth saying? Are they not saying that Jesus is God, giving Jesus all his authority and their glory? The Devil wanted Jesus to do an act of worship before him by means of the Devil's image of the heavens (Isaiah 14: 12-14) and earth by giving breath of life to it by means of the fruit of his lips (Hebrews 13:15). But note how Jesus replied when being tempted by the Tempter (Matthew 4:1), "Then Jesus said to him: 'Go away, Satan! For it is written: 'It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service' (Matthew 4:10)." Because it was God at the beginning who created the heavens and earth and said let there be light through His Spirit (Genesis 1: 1-3).

Read one Bible verse or read them all! 📖📚
1 John 2:16
because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world
Isaiah 29:13
Jehovah says: “This people approach me with their mouth And they honor me with their lips, But their heart is far removed from me; And their fear of me is based on commands of men that they have been taught.
1 Thessalonians 3:5
is why, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to learn of your faithfulness, in case somehow the Tempter might have tempted you, and our labor might have turned out to be in vain.
2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light.
Revelation 12:12
On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing that he has a short period of time.”
2 Corinthians 11:3
But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent seduced Eve by its cunning, your minds might be corrupted away from the sincerity and the chastity that are due the Christ.
Revelation 13:13
And it performs great signs, even making fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the sight of mankind.
Luke 10:18
At that he said to them: “I see Satan already fallen like lightning from heaven.

For the sake of making Shinra look good™ the president ordered Angeal, Genesis and Sephiroth to go to a fan meeting where they'd sign autographs and be scream at by dozens of fangirls.
Twelve years old, very shy and smol :3 Cloud went to the fan meeting with Claudia and nearly fainted when Sephiroth kneeled to his height so he wouldn't seem too intimidating to the little boy, and reachee to shake Cloud's smaller hand. However, his cheeks all flushed and frozen, Cloud couldn't move at all, paralyzed over how handsome the General was, how mesmerizing were his mako eyes, and the way he was so huge in real life compared to TV...
Angeal found the little boy's reaction sweet a bit; it changed from all the hysterical screams– and Genesis was fighting hard against his demons so he wouldn't burst laughing and go on a quarrel with his so-called rival when the three of them would be done with the mascarade of Shinra.
"Hello," the tall silver-haired started speaking, "What is your name, if I may ?"
Cloud jumped as his face became redder, his eyes widening at the gorgeous sound of the General's voice, "E-E-Eh !? M-m-my n-n-n...!!". Claudia too had to keep her composure not to giggle over her son's cute shyness.
Lowering his welcoming arm, the mako-infused eyes went to the blonde boy's ponytail. The General pointed at it, and murmured in a reassuring tone, making a small smile, "It looks pretty on you."
"If I may," started the mother, "it must be because he wants to be just like you when he'll be older. Isn't, Cloud ?
– Hm, is that so ?", Sephiroth stared at the child's blushing cheeks. The man wished the mom wasn't there so he could brush it gently with his fingers without seeming like some kind of creeper. Well, probably, Angeal would be the one to stop him anyway. "Then grow up fast, so the two of us can work together one day."
The compliment on his hair and this promise– they seemed so sincere and real and honest. To the General's words, Cloud felt like his entire body was about to explode in candies, confetti, and other kind of colorful and sweet things. He wouldcdefinitely let his hair grow longer, not to look like Sephiroth, but to please him even more.
"Sir !!", somehow, those words boosted the boy's confidence, forgetting the shyness, straightening up and raising his young voice for everyone to hear, "My name's Cloud Strife !! And I want to be--!!" a soldier.
A soldier.
He was pretty sure that's what came out of his mouth, but he saw Sephiroth frown very lightly, still keeping the small and gentle smile on his face. The child's blue eyes layed on the brune soldier with a tanned skin– whose eyes widened. Then Cloud's sight went to the red-haired, androgynous soldier, forcing his mouth onto his lips, and Cloud spots tears in his eyes.
"O-Oh...!", Genesis purred maliciously, "Is that so~
– Gen...", Angeal warned. He didn't want another fight between those two again.
Cloud didn't understand. His sight became blurry by the wetness of his eyes. What was happening...? What did he do wrong ? Oh no, oh no, that couldn't be happening...!
"C-C-Cloud !!", Claudia was going at it too, "I'm... I'm sorry ! I'm sure Cloud didn't mean-
– It's alright," Sephiroth answered way too fast. "It happens to us all. It doesn't bother me."
".....what do you mean it doesn't bother you, you sick asshole...
– Gen!! Damn it !!"
Sephiroth reached his hand once morew "It's nice to meet you, Cloud Strife. I hope we'll get along when you'll be older."
Slowly, cautiously, still confused over what made everyone react like this, Cloud reached his own and shook Sephiroth's hand.
He was shaking Sephiroth's hand. He was shaking Sephiroth's hand !! He couldn't wait to go back home and tell Tifa he touched the Great, Mighty Sephiroth !!
"Um, Cloud...", Sephiroth whispered hesitantly. The tears that were on the child's eyes earlier had faded, now replaced by glows and stars. He's been shaking the gloved hand of the General for longer than an handshake was supposed be.
But Sephiroth let him. It wasn't always that someone so small confessed to him. His cheeks pinkened a bit at the thought.
_
My name's Cloud Strife, and I want to be--
your lover.
Holy shit anon, you literally wrote an entire fic. I checked and you wrote 721 words. That's three pages. THREE PAGES.
Anon I hope you take credit for this, because you clearly put so much work into this and deserve the credit. I don't even know what else to add, other than to say that this is weirdly cute and made me giggle.
Good luck to you Cloudy! Although I think your future self will regret ever saying such a thing to Sephiroth when he ends up becoming your stalker >:)

Chapter 3: Night
The night on Pandora was alive with soft, bioluminescent light, illuminating the forest in ethereal blues and greens. The twin moons cast a pale glow over the land, but the darkness between the towering trees remained thick and full of shadows. (y/n) moved swiftly, her heart pounding as she navigated the dense forest, guided only by the faint shimmer of the Hallelujah Mountains in the distance.
Every step felt heavier as exhaustion threatened to overtake her, but she couldn’t stop now. She adjusted the strap of her emergency bag, her glowing eyes scanning the shadows for any signs of danger. The forest had its own predators, and she had to stay alert.
But she wasn’t alone.
High in the trees, hidden from sight, a something watched her from a distance. His form blended seamlessly with the darkness, his sharp eyes following her every movement. He had spotted her hours ago while patrolling the area, moving alone through the forest, and had been trailing her ever since. At first, he had thought she might be one of the humans—a dreamwalker or an avatar. But the way she moved, with a natural grace that even the avatars struggled to mimic, told him otherwise. She was different.
He had never seen anyone like her before, and something about her felt… off. Why was she alone? And where was she going?
Neteyam’s instincts told him to remain cautious, though he felt an odd pull toward her. She seemed lost, or at the very least, running from something. He could see the weariness in her movements, the way her steps faltered slightly, though she tried to hide it.
As (y/n) trekked further, her focus was solely on the towering Hallelujah Mountains in the distance, their floating peaks seemingly just out of reach. The quiet hum of the forest was almost comforting, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that eyes were on her. She paused for a moment, her ears twitching, scanning the darkness around her.
Neteyam remained still, blending perfectly into his surroundings, watching her intently. He had learned the ways of the forest from his father and knew how to remain invisible when needed. But as he studied her, he wondered if she could sense him, as if her heightened instincts told her that she was being watched.
(y/n) hesitated, looking around before shaking her head and pushing forward. The shadows stretched longer as the night deepened, but she had no time to waste. She needed to reach the mountains by dawn. There was no telling what dangers lurked in the dark, but she could feel the presence of something—or someone—following her. Still, she couldn’t afford to stop.
But exhaustion was creeping in, making her footsteps heavier and her senses duller. The darkness seemed to grow thicker around her, and her vision blurred. As she stumbled through the undergrowth, her glowing eyes caught flickers of movement among the shadows.
A low growl echoed through the trees.
She froze, her heart pounding as she scanned her surroundings. From the corner of her eye, she saw it—sleek, black bodies moving silently between the trees, their yellow eyes glinting in the faint light. Viperwolves. She counted at least six of them, circling her, their growls growing louder, more confident.
Panic surged through her. Her pulse quickened as she slowly reached for the knife strapped to her thigh, the only weapon she had. But deep down, she knew it wouldn’t be enough.
One of the viperwolves snarled, baring its sharp fangs as it crept closer, and (y/n) took a step back, her mind racing. She was too tired to run, too tired to fight. Her legs wobbled beneath her as the world around her began to spin. The sound of her own heartbeat thundered in her ears, and for a moment, she thought this might be the end.
The first viperwolf leaped.
But before it could land, a blur of movement came from the trees above, faster than she could comprehend. The sound of a bowstring twanged through the air, and the viperwolf was yanked back by an arrow that pierced its side, its body collapsing in a heap before it could reach her.
Startled, (y/n) spun around, her eyes wide as another arrow whizzed past her, striking another viperwolf dead before it could pounce. The pack hesitated, growling in confusion as their numbers thinned. In the chaos, a figure dropped from the trees, landing silently between her and the pack.
His frame moving with the grace of a seasoned hunter, stood tall with his bow drawn, his sharp eyes locking onto the remaining viperwolves. With one swift motion, he fired again, his arrows finding their mark with deadly precision.
The viperwolves, now reduced in number and confused by the sudden attack, yelped in fear, their predatory confidence shattered. They turned tail, disappearing back into the darkness of the forest, their growls fading into the distance.
For a moment, there was only silence.
(y/n), still gripping her knife with trembling hands, stood frozen, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Her legs finally gave way, and she fell to her knees, exhaustion and relief washing over her all at once.
The world around her spun, the soft glow of the forest dimming as her strength gave out completely. She felt the warmth of the earth beneath her palms, but it was distant, as if she were already slipping away.
Unconscious, (y/n) collapsed into the soft underbrush, her breath shallow but steady, the weight of her exhaustion finally overtaking her.
Neteyam knelt beside her, his sharp gaze sweeping the area once more to ensure no other threats lurked in the shadows. Satisfied that they were safe, at least for the moment, he carefully lifted her into his arms, her limp body light in his grasp.
She had pushed herself far beyond her limits, and now, in the quiet of the night, she was at his mercy.
Authors note: Hey everyone hope all of you are enjoying the story so far. Ill be updating on saturday, sunday and mondays. I have to take a physics test this week. Thank you all for the support. Stay tuned.

Was Bad talking about starless sky implying that he was there before the 4th day of creation? Or is he talking about different events where the light of stars were diminished?
Genesis 1:1-5 – Before the Stars Existed
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day."
This was the creation of heavens and earth, stars, sun and moon didn't exist at this point of time.
Genesis 1:14-19 – The Creation of Stars
"And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.’ And it was so. And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day."
This confirms that before the 4th day there were no stars in sky. And Bad being an angel who are believed to be created before earth might have been there for the starless night sky. And this event was a long while ago before any life existed on earth.
Now there are several other instances when the sky got darkened-
1. The Ninth Plague of Darkness (Exodus 10:21-23) – A supernatural darkness covered Egypt for three days. This was not just a lack of sunlight—it was complete darkness, possibly including a starless night sky.
2. The Darkness at Jesus’ Crucifixion (Matthew 27:45) - This event lasted three hours (noon to 3 PM). The darkness could have covered the entire sky, possibly obscuring the stars as well.
3. The Sixth Seal – Stars Darkened and Falling (Revelation 6:12-14) - The sun was darkened, and stars appeared to fall, suggesting a sky where their light was lost.
4. The Final Cosmic Destruction – Stars Will No Longer Shine (Isaiah 34:4, Revelation 21:23) - In the New Heaven and Earth, stars, sun, and moon will no longer be necessary, as God’s presence will be the only source of light.
(there are probably a couple I am missing but these are all i can found or remember)
I do think the starless sky means he is talking about the very very first event- the creation of stars. Later events are either light of stars getting dim, hidden or stars falling for the most part and that technically isn't a "starless" sky

AGSZC get sent to our world. Welcome to Earth, boys! How do they react? Who gets arrested for carrying a sharp weapon in public first? Who gets stopped for having "such a cool cosplay omg can I get a picture with you!!!"? Does anyone believe them when they return home?
Sephiroth: Arrested within ten minutes of arrival for openly carrying Masamune. He says nothing the entire time, just lets them cuff him, because he assumes this is Earth's version of Shinra security and he's about to be debriefed. When an officer demands he "drop the weapon," he makes it disappear into thin air. They let him go immediately because (1) they have no evidence, (2) he's suspiciously attractive, and (3) they assume he's just an insanely good wizard LARPer. He walks out of the station completely unbothered, only to get distracted by a glowing sign that says "Taco Bell—Open Late!" and spends the next two hours trying every single menu item. He discovers Baja Blast. He ascends.
Genesis: Figures out within seconds that nobody here knows what Loveless is. This is an injustice he cannot abide. By the end of the first day, he's reciting entire acts in the middle of Times Square. By the end of the week, he has a full-blown cult. People are quoting it, debating interpretations, asking when the sequel is coming out. Someone starts printing T-shirts. An influencer with ten million followers makes a video captioned "Genesis Rhapsodos ended Shakespeare in under 24 hours." He is unstoppable. He is thriving.
Angeal: Mesmerized by the sheer amount of plants. Earth is just covered in greenery, and he spends hours just touching leaves and murmuring about "the purity of natural growth." At one point, he kneels in a park and just presses his palm into the grass, as if absorbing its wisdom. He barely notices the group of children who gather around him, marveling at the "cool swordsman" until one of them asks for a picture with his Buster Sword. He obliges, of course, but by the end of the day, there are hundreds of kids lining up, and someone has started calling him "Excalibur Dad."
Zack: Having the time of his life. He adapts immediately, taking selfies with everyone, somehow gets himself invited to three different house parties within the first few hours. Starts a TikTok, gets famous within hours just for being himself.
Cloud: Absolutely miserable. Every time someone asks if he's in cosplay, he visibly wilts. The others find him hours later, just sitting at a bus stop, staring into the void like he's having a crisis.

so... it's established very blatantly in s3e6 que será será that chase has something deeply personal against fat people.
& as a raised catholic, i would honestly not be surprised if these views were ingrained through him being brought up as a catholic, since so many of the teachings emphasise the evils of gluttony.
for background:
there's the whole experience of lent in general - denying yourself through abstinence, jesus fasting for 40 days & 40 nights by resisting the temptation of satan, paralleling eating food as giving into evil. ironically, chase even says the patient's blood is thicker than pancake batter (alluding to shrove tuesday) in s3e6 que será será. fucking diabolical.
adam & eve being tempted into eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and being cast out of heaven for this: the interpretation that food gives you clarity of mind, but is deserving of punishment.
the emphasis on asceticism (especially amongst catholic martyrs, and monastics like nuns and monks) as a sign that you are good, more pure and more holy as a person (it doesn't <3)
gluttony being a deadly sin (🖕)
probably more that i've missed, & that's not even mentioning the influence biblical text has on christian society & attitudes towards food and fat people in general.
whilst the bible also emphasises food as a gift from god (genesis 1:29) and states that food will neither take you closer or further away from god, it's literally just food (1 corinthians 8:8, god bless)... culturally, in catholic society, there is definitely more of an emphasis on the above messages.
combine this with the widespread contemporary 90s/00s social and medical views regarding obesity + chase's incredibly strong view that it's wrong to burden your loved ones with your health & addictions, based on his issues with caring for his alcoholic mother as a kid (@ljblueteak goes into this beautifully in this post)... well, it's kinda unsurprising that he's fatphobic.
s3e6 que será será goes into this too. chase is making constant medical/social pre-judgements about george (the obese patient) throughout the episode, only to hilariously keep being corrected - making a lovely socio-medical commentary throughout the ep.
chase also blames george for his illness, implying he doesn't deserve medical help because chase believes he brought it upon himself through his obesity - comparing george to drug addicts and alcoholics who he believes are the same & don't deserve medical help. which also says sooo much about how he resents caring for his alcoholic mother as a kid. jesus christ, this guy has trauma.
also, the way that chase is fatphobic is very visceral and personal. foreman even acknowledges this in the episode, jokingly asking if chase was bullied by a gang of fat kids. you get the feeling that this kind of hatred has more to it than being raised in a typical 90s fatphobic society (otherwise cameron & foreman would be the exact same). hence the ingrained catholic aversion to gluttony and chase resenting being burdened by his alcoholic mother.

The Hopeful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary
Lent is right around the corner, and typically we are called to pray the Sorrowful Mysteries as a reminded of Christ's passion throughout these 40 days. But in a world so fraught with war, death, and pain, perhaps it is time for a more... hopeful way to pray the rosary. Enter from stage left the Hopeful Mysteries, a new devotion created by a small town church for the 2025 Jubilee that has officially been marked as having spiritual merit for the faithful. Inspired by the Magnificat and messages of hope in the Old Testament while leading up to the most important announcement of hope in the Bible, the Annunciation, the Hopeful Mysteries are five new mysteries one can use while praying the Holy Rosary.
The First Mystery: Eve and the Serpent (Genesis 3:15)
Eve is blamed for a lot-- it is easy to pin all of humanity's downfall on one woman, but as mother of all, Eve is also the source of our salvation. Her offspring crushes the serpent under their heel, and she has no greater offspring than Jesus Christ. Born as man, our Lord has Eve's blood in His veins, and when God promises that an offspring of Eve will crush the serpent, we can see the fulfillment of that promise thousands of years in the future. Mary, the daughter of Eve, the new Eve, and the Holy Spirit bear the One who will do more than crush the serpent: He will eradicate him. Even in the fear and sorrow of the Fall, hope is not far behind.
The Second Mystery: The Rainbow (Genesis 9:13-17)
Noah's arc is a horrible story; it is a story of pain, of death, of separation, with the world drowning and being forced to rebuild. But it carries a promise of hope inside it: the rainbow, a sign of God's promise to never turn His back on us. Never again will the world flood. Never again will He bring inhalation upon us. Instead, he brings forth a soul like no other, both Man and Divine, to unite us with Him again. Death no more, but a promise of hope and reunification. Jesus is the rainbow of the modern era, and through remembering God's promise to Noah, we remember Jesus's sacrifice for us.
The Third Mystery: Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22:1-19)
It can be hard to see hope in a story of attempted child sacrifice, but as we read Genesis, we remember that God provided a ram. He provided the sacrifice to go in Isaac's place, sparing son and father. Instead, God takes Abraham's place, sacrificing His own Son as an Easter ram. God denied the need for human suffering to prove our love of Him, and instead suffered Himself to prove love of us!
The Fourth Mystery: The Freedom from Egypt (Exodus 14:13-31)
God does not abandon His people. God does not abandon His people! When the Israelites face oppression in Egypt, the Lord provided emancipation. When they faced the Egyptians before the Red Sea, our Lord parted the waters and led them safely through. And just as He protected the Israelites and led them from Egypt, so has he protected us and led us from death through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Fifth Mystery: Mary the Mother of God and the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38)
Finally, we have reached the greatest of God's promises: the Annunciation. Mary, who lived a life of piety and sinlessness, brings into the world the Christ, Emmanuel, the world's greatest Hope. In her, we have the Hope of Jesus' arrival, and in Him, we have the Hope of salvation. He came once, and He will come again. Mary, the new Eve,'s offspring, Jesus, will crush the serpent under His foot. He will be the rainbow, promising safety and a new world. He will be the God-given ram, dying in our place. He will bring us freedom, just as the Lord led the Israelites to freedom and out of bondage. He is the Greatest Hope, and through Him, we are saved.

One morning at Shinra Sephiroth has a black eye for 3 hours. He will acts like nothing is wrong. Rumors spiral around. What happened?
-Early that morning-
Angeal was away on a mission. That’s usually the first sign proceeding an incident of this nature. Sephiroth and Genesis left together unsupervised—Lazard keeps an extra stash of painkillers in his desk just for this kind of occasion.
They’d been tame enough last night. Genesis had managed to civilly (for once) coax Sephiroth away from his paperwork and into his apartment, where they had proceeded to devour the leftover pie Angeal had left them while watching movies until late in the night. Genesis—who had only just returned from a mission himself, and was lacking on proper sleep—had gotten perhaps a little too comfortable, and had perhaps bought too plush a sofa, since he had slumped over further and further until he had fallen asleep on Sephiroth’s shoulder. Sephiroth, unusually comfortable himself, had been disinclined to extricate himself from the situation, and had drawn the blanket up to cover them both and slept the night through right there.
They’d even been civil for a record amount of time after they’d woken up. Perhaps Genesis’ penchant for chaos had been temporarily soothed by the rare sight of Sephiroth fast asleep and curled up against him like a contented cat, his silver hair turned to gold in the morning sun peeking through the window. Perhaps the sight had stirred him to an act of love instead of mischief, since instead of grabbing a permanent marker to draw a mustache on that perfect face like he’d always wanted, he carefully pulled away—smiling fondly at the barely-audible noise of protest that prompted—and moved to the kitchen to make breakfast.
The problems started soon after.
Sephiroth was watching Genesis move about the kitchen, his head ever so slightly cocked. Genesis, mid-attempted-pancake-flip, noticed this and snorted.
“What?”
“You are…making pancakes?”
“So I am. Don’t look so surprised—or are these not up to his picky highnesses’ royal standards?”
“I…am not opposed to pancakes.”
“My friend, your desire is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess.” Genesis flashed him a fond smile. And flipped the pancake again. Sephiroth followed it with his eyes intently, almost involuntarily.
He was silent for a moment. Then—“didn’t Angeal make fresh pancakes not three days ago? Were the leftovers not in his freezer?”
Genesis cursed and nearly dropped the pan. He had definitely forgotten about that. Trying to pass it off as him having burned his finger, he tried to save face. “What, would you rather have Angeal’s frozen days-old pancakes than my fresh ones made with love? Do gestures mean nothing to you?”
A hint of a mischevious smile ghosted Sephiroth’s face. Genesis did so love encouraging that look in him, but it was unfortunate when it was turned against him. “Angeal’s food usually tastes better. He actually reads the recipes.”
“Well, maybe I just have better things to be reading, dear. I’ll have you know, anything Angeal can do I can do with style.” He flipped a pancake with a flourish to emphasize this, higher than the last. Sephiroth tracked its movement like a cat stalking a mouse. Genesis finally noticed this and smirked widely.
“That does not seem…efficient,” Sephiroth commented. “Are you not worried about it falling?”
Genesis just smirked wider, and flipped the pancake higher. “I’ve skill enough.”
“Hm.” Sephiroth’s eyes were slightly dilated, like a predator on the hunt. “…How much?”
A challenge. Excellent. Genesis flipped the pancake several feet into the air. Sephiroth was perfectly still.
“We seek it thus…” Genesis weighed the pan in his hand—“and take to the sky!” He flipped the pancake with all of his dramatic prowess. The pancake sailed up, up, up, flipping and flipping…
And promptly collided with the ceiling. And stayed there.
Sephiroth blinked at Genesis. Genesis blinked at Sephiroth.
No one who presumed to have any sort of familiarity with Sephiroth would have recognized the shit-eating grin that spread across his face. Sephiroth took out his PHS, opened to his messages with Angeal, clicked the photo option, and began to point it at the ceiling-cake.
With a yelp, Genesis launched himself at Sephiroth. Sephiroth gracefully pirouetted out of the irate redhead’s path, moving to reposition his PHS. Genesis, for once knowing when he was bested in outright battle, decided he had a better chance of getting rid of the evidence before it could be documented.
Clambering onto the counter, he grabbed Rapier from where it was leaning and used it as a sort of stilt on which to balance to reach the errant pancake. His fingers brushed the edge, and a little of the batter peeled off onto the floor, but a gibbous of pancake still remained, mocking him. Sephiroth was laughing. Genesis strained a little further—why were these ceilings so high?—and just managed to grasp the rest. Sephiroth was moving towards him now, PHS lowered, and Genesis straightened in triumph and indignation—
And promptly felt Rapier slip out beneath him with a horrid sound against the kitchen tile. Flailing, he went down hard. Sephiroth attempted to catch him, but Genesis felt his elbow strike something painfully and they both went down hard.
Genesis scrambled for the PHS, scanning the miraculously uncracked screen to find the delete button—but the evidence had already been sent. “FUCK!”
“Hm,” Sephiroth hummed, sitting up with a hand to his eye. Genesis glanced over at him and did a double take.
“Fuck.”
-3 hours later-
“I dunno, Kuns, doesn’t seem all that believable to me,” Zack mumbled in between bites. Sephiroth was sitting a few tables away, sporting a nasty black eye (partially concealed by what appeared to be hastily-applied makeup), nonchalantly cutting up his lunch. Genesis was nowhere to be seen. “They wouldn’t be that clumsy. They’re Firsts! They have, like, crazy reflexes! I bet he got it from some spy that snuck in or something. That would be totally badass. Where’d you hear that rumor from, anyways?”

Howdy! I’ve been re-reading a lot in the appendices lately and noticed that the first time Aragorn sees Arwen and falls head over heels immediately, she’s described as wearing a “mantle of silver and blue.” 🤔
When you went back through your recent deep dives on Arwen (forgive me, I think I read them all but sometimes my brain is a sieve!), did you come across that and have thoughts about what ol’ JRR might have been thinking in his use of the silver and blue mantle visual for the (eventual) wives of both Aragorn and Faramir? Or, if not, do you have any such thoughts now? Intentional and meant to convey specific meaning, or he just liked that color palette/image and it popped up again organically?

My first thought is that they both wear silver and blue for the same reasons it feels like everyone in Tolkien has grey eyes. It's an aesthetic Tolkien likes.
On a more theological level, blue is a colour strongly associated with the Virgin Mary. Lord of the Rings is filled with biblical imagery and inspirations, and arguments have been made for quite a few of Tolkien's heroines being inspired by the Virgin Mary.
In Arwen's case, it's been argued she represents Mary the mother figure, and Mary who united the divine and immortal with the mortal, as Arwen does when she marries Aragorn.
In Eowyn's case, her slaying of the Fell Beast is reminiscent of the tradition of Mary being depicted of standing on a serpent's head in art, inspired by this quote, interpreted to be about Mary
I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. (Genesis 3:15)
in reference to Mary giving birth to Jesus, who then died for the sins of humanity. Mary giving birth to Jesus allowed for Satan to be overcome, and she reversed Eve's sin.
It's also been suggested that Eowyn's referring to herself as a shieldmaiden nods towards Mary referring to herself as a handmaiden
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.
With Mary, the most popular colour combination is usually red and blue, instead of silver and blue (although in both cases it's blue worn over red, so the mantle remains fitting). But Varda/Elbereth, Queen of the Valar and creator of the stars, is the most beloved of the Valar by the elves, just as Mary is traditionally the most beloved saint, so the silver and the stars on Eowyn's mantle is perhaps a reference to Varda, and her own Marian imagery.
Thanks for the ask! It's a really interesting parallel I hadn't considered before.
Writing this post, it's interesting that Eowyn slaying the Fell Beast was an act of disobedience, whereas Mary agreeing to carry Jesus was an act of obedience to God. Some fans I think have really struggled with Eowyn achieving something objectively great through an act of disobedience, yet her great deed was a result of her disobedience.
Eowyn's act was an act of disobedience against Theoden, who doesn't take on a Godlike or Christlike role in the narrative. Eowyn also defied Aragorn's own orders, who told her to stay and that she had no business in the South, and Aragorn does have Christlike imagery, what with his healing abilities. However, Aragorn has to grow into his role as King of Men, and he proves himself as the true King of Gondor when he heals Eowyn and Faramir and Merry in the Houses of Healing. Aragorn says in the Houses of Healing that Eowyn's deeds put her on equal standing with the queens of old, so perhaps Aragorn's blinkeredness towards Eowyn earlier on is a sign that he has yet to reach his place as King of Men.
Gandalf, who is a Maiar or angel, is very empathetic towards Eowyn's circumstances. He's the only other character who speaks of the effect that sexism and being confined to the domestic sphere had on Eowyn. Even Aragorn focusses more on Eowyn's heartbreak over him rejecting her (although he acknowledges that was the straw that broke the camel's back). Gandalf is the one to put into words the cause of Eowyn's suffering.
Whereas Tolkien's personal and fictional writings suggest he had a conservative attitude towards the nature of women, it seems that he believed that most women were inherently domestic, not that they had to be, and if they weren't they were failures of womanhood. He expressed admiration for women who made achievements in science and literature, and described Eowyn as being a "brave woman capable of great military gallantry". So you get the idea that although Tolkien had conservative ideas about the abilities and nature of women in general, he did not oppose women who proved themselves to be the "exception". And in Eowyn's case, her exceptionality was foretold, prophesised by Glorfindel many, many years before she was born, just as Mary's was.
Ironically enough, Tolkien keeping most of the women firmly in the domestic sphere, resulting in them having a very small role the narrative, with only the "exceptional woman" being granted much focus, resulted in Eowyn being the singular female character who receives a on-page, active role in the narrative, the singular female character who joins the heroes and grows and develops. A consequence of this is that she shoulders almost all the female representation within the narrative.
Arwen and Galdriel are significant characters, but most of their actions take place off page, with their on page presence revolving mostly around facilitating the actions of the male heroes (although Galadriel does get up to her own cool stuff away from the main narrative, but that story we don't get to follow.) Arwen and Galadriel are also divine beings, ancient elves, the most beautiful, the fairest, both of them visions of perfection, and mostly static. (At least, in the main narrative. Arwen shows more flaws and nuances in the appendices, and Galadriel we know went on a whole journey before becoming Lady of Lothlorien.)
In contrast, Eowyn, human, mortal, messy Eowyn, is flawed. She has struggles and weaknesses and lessons to learn. This makes her the most "human" woman in the narrative, for reasons that go beyond her race. In being the most complex, flawed and dynamic female character of the book, the "exceptional woman" inadvertently becomes the "every woman".
And I've gone on a bit of a tangent, but I had a lot of fun doing it.
