Here is why Hauer keeps part of his face covered. He has a nasty burn scar that has left him blind in his right eye, and its actually thanks to Ralph! During one of Hauer's experiments, Ralph had had enough so he grabbed a vial of hydrochloric acid and flung it in Hauer's face!
