🎵YOU CAN'T TAKE THE SKY FROM ME!
So, I finished Firefly the other day and am just now getting to posting about it. I had started a draft while I was on like episode 8, but never got to publishing it.
My thoughts on and related to Firefly:
NATHAN FILLION
So, this is the show the internet is mad about. WELL, ME TOO!
Theme song ingrained in my brain within 3 episodes. Like, I felt like I knew it from a past life and couldn't remember the words but I knew it with my soul, type of ingrained. I studied the theme hard so I could sing along with it during the short time I watched the show.
(At episode 6) I like this show. Mentally I know this show is short. Emotionally I am just now getting deeply invested and setting myself up for heartbreak.
I need to go back and watch all the other Nathan Fillion things I have watched and look for all the references to Firefly that I missed.
(On the last episode and after the show) Gorram you Fox! Even Swiper has more decency than you!
In examining my own preferences of steampunky themes and apparently cop shows (Can't wait for Rookie season 7), I now need a steampunk cop show.
Having watched Warehouse 13 and The Librarians directly before watching Firefly, and seeing how well Fillion plays the aloof, loyal, caring, can't-keep-his-hands-off-the-really-cool/shiny-and-probably-dangerous-artifact type characters, I now need an Indiana Jones type adventure, but with Nathan Fillion. Infinite bonus if it has Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Adam Baldwyn, Jewel Staite, and Morena Baccarin starring in it. I would also love if Sean Maher, and especially Summer Glau could also come back. I really want to see Summer in a not mentally ill role, but she mostly does bit parts in stuff that I am not really interested in.
Individual thoughts *SPOILERS*:
Jayne needs to start thinking with his brain, and not the thing between his legs.
I absolutely LOVE when Mal threatens Jayne after he tried to sell River to the Fed's. "You turn on any of my crew, you turn on me" and "Next time you stab me in the back, have the guts to do it to my face" are beautiful quotes that I will be making a part of my personality despite not having a ship, crew, or having been stabbed in the back
It's interesting to see what aspects of Fillion's personality go with him from character to character. From Mal, to Castle, Cayde-6, and John Nolan. They all care deeply about their crew even if they aren't really good with showing affection, and I can tell that Nathan cares about his people too.
I haven't watched the movie yet. I have it, I just haven't watched it. I've also heard bad things about it. But, I plan to watch it anyway. If it ends poorly I will absolutely be making a headcanon.
I wish so bad that it had lasted longer, but alas, 14 fantabulous episodes, a movie, and our imaginations is all that we have.
Also, does anyone know of any good Firefly fanfics? I would love to read them.

It's literally killing me that there's nothing on the Malcolm Reynolds & Simon Tam, Father-Son tags on AO3. BUT IT'S SUCH FERTILE LAND FOR FIC TO GROW THO!!
Are you TELLING me nobody else has unresolved daddy issues you'd like to work out through Simon being the stubborn but brilliant, overanalyzing, neurotic gotta-be-10-steps-ahead-cause-nobody-gives-a-shit-about-us doctor of the crew that is always on survival mode cause he quite LITERALLY was abandoned by his own father in his greatest moment of need? And not only that, REMEMBER WHEN JAYNE DOUBLE CROSSED HIM AND RIVER IN ARIEL?? and we all expected him to go bezerk or at least look betrayed?? But instead he was all cool calm and collected and YES that is in part because of his work ethic and because of Who He Is As A Person (not a person that abuses his position of power over someone more vulnerable).. but... what if it's also because.. he never expected anything different? Like.. just think about it. If his own DAD doesn't give a shit about him and River...who would? So maybe that's just him being kind of resigned too?? To something he accepted long ago. He doesn't have any of Mal's outrage, he doesn't have his ire, because unlike Mal, he never expected anything different.
Maybe that's also why he's unable to effectively bond with Kaylee despite having feelings for her. Cause it's been him and River against the world for so long in his mind, that every time his feelings try to cross that line towards Trust Territory, alarm bell start ringing in his head.
This is obviously gonna lead to Simon and Mal to butt heads because as Mal is captain of the ship, his position demands--you guessed it!-- TRUST from his crew. Trust that he'll lead the way somewhere safe, trust that he'll look after everyone with his decisions. And Simon..well he just can't do that (there's too much at stake).
And at first it just drives Mal crazy to the point he probably kicks the siblings to the curve a couple of times (like we saw in Firefly, like we saw in Serenity) not out of cruelty, but because he's never been one to keep someone who doesn't want to be kept (just ask Inara).
Speaking of Inara, maybe she's the voice of reason (as she tends to be) that eventually makes Mal see beyond Simon's insubordination, and see that he's not trying to be difficult, deep down he's just a kid, scared shitless, all alone in the world. But..he's not, says Mal. Sometimes that's just hard to feel for some people, shrugs Inara. At first, Malcolm protests against this like, I have too many responsabilities looking after this ship to care for the doctor's precious feelings, too! Inara throws her hands in the air like, This is why nobody ever talks to you about these things! Mal is offended at the implication that ANYONE in his crew keeps things from him, he squawks WHat things?!?..and it turns into the Mal&Inara regular show.
But it plants a SEED in Mal's head, see, and now every time Simon objects against something being done, instead of seeing some churlish display of disobedience, he sees the anxiety, the undercurrent of fear that is there.
Maybe he goes to Simon's quarters at one point and realizes he's hardly unpacked and he's like...shit. it's worse than I thought.
Feral Simon with daddy issues and an attachment disorder is what I want!!

A moment Milena swears about her father in MBTT stuck in my head, it's so forceful. And I thought about the cold open for ep "Jaynestown" in the Firefly tv show, where Kaylee and Simon are chatting about swearing w Kaylee teasing how proper he is and Simon saying he curses when it's appropriate, and the payoff later was so better for the setup, like Aiden's eyes going so wide at one bad word from Milena just from the long-time contrast with Lambert. Have you seen Firefly? It's superb.
I have seen some although not all of Firefly! (It ran into my bizarre inability to watch TV shows, unfortunately. I'm also very bad at watching movies.)
I do like having characters who only swear when it's appropriate. As you say, the payoff is always very satisfying.

Happy Wincest Wednesday!
I'm actually asking an explicitly non-wincest question for once. I've been seeing a lot of talk about Sam/Rowena and Sam/Eileen lately, and it makes me wonder: what are people's favorite ships besides wincest? When you venture outside our corner of the fandom, what relationships are you looking at?
Also: if your answer is an incest ship, I also want to know your favorite non-incest ship. I already know half of us are down bad for shipping the boys with John or Jack. My goal here is more to discover what I don't already know.
- @schizosamwincester
Sam/Dean is the only m/m ship I ship and I think, other than them, Sam/Rowena and Dean/Donna are the non-canon m/f ships I ship. Otherwise I really love Sam/Eileen, Dean/Lisa, Dean/Cassie. I don't ship Sam/Amelia because 1. I don't like Amelia and 2. I think that character is much more compelling as a figment of Sam's imagination during a psychotic break he experienced after Dean vanished when Dick exploded (that's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it). Outside of Supernatural I always liked Buffy/Spike from BtVS (Spike had so much more chemistry with her than Angel did), and Mulder/Scully on X-Files, and on Firefly Mal/Inarra, Wash/Zoe, Kaylee... oh, wait, yeah I did prefer Kaylee/Jayne as opposed to Kaylee/Simon that was the actual canon relationship, so there's one more non-canon ship. But basically, Sam and Dean are an anomaly for me. What can I say? Jared and Jensen just have too much chemistry to ignore and Sam and Dean are soulmates who chose each other over everyone and anyone else over and over again.

One thing I felt like HoO really dropped on is the characterisation of the Argo II itself.
Where a lot of shows like Star Wars, Firefly, Doctor Who, and Star Trek really shine is where the ship itself becomes it’s own character.
I’m gonna use firefly as an example here, because I started re-watching it today, and this is something that’s a VERY key theme.
I think Joss Wheadon (the creator of the show) talked a lot about Serenity (the ship) actually being the “ninth cast member”. “Serenity” is the name of both the pilot episode and the follow-up movie, it’s name-dropped in the theme song, and the show is called firefly because it is a “Class-3 Firefly Spaceship”. And we as an audience really connect with the ship- despite the show being only fourteen episodes long (If I was only able to throttle 20th Century Fox… I answer to no god)- and I think the reason we do so is because every single character has their own personal connection with the vessel. Wash being the pilot (Also, if I remember it correctly, it being the place he met Zoë), Kaylee being the engineer, for Simon, it being a safe space to hide his sister from the totalitarian government trying to do experiments on her brain, and Mal and Zoë starting the ship together- Mal naming it “Serenity” after the battle of Serenity Valley which he fought in with Zoë (I could lore-dump about this show ‘til the gorram cows come home). And the whole premise of the show being about surviving with your rag-tag crew on this piece of shit that you love dearly, and just… keeping flying. Ugh, there’s something so magical in the writing that makes you adore the ship itself.
Other examples, like the Millennium Falcon, the TARDIS, and the USS Enterprise, are also good for this.
Now, onto how the Argo II itself:
The only person who really has a personal connection with the Argo II is Leo. The rest of the Seven just feel like they’re… on Leo’s boat. All the food is provided by the magic plates from Camp Half-Blood. Most of the piloting/engineering is done by Leo, and a little bit by Annabeth and sometimes Percy when they’re on the water. You never get the sense that any of the others really love the boat, or have any connection with it at all.
I think that’s the reason why the Seven never felt that close in my opinion. There was never a sense of community. Of people united by a common location.
I think, just love for a place in fiction is something really powerful to me. That’s where Harry Potter most thrived, not necessarily the plot, but wanting to be in the world, go to Hogwarts.
Camp Half-Blood had that charm and homeliness. So did the Waystation in TOA. Camp Jupiter didn’t for me, but I think that was kinda the point. But I never really got that from the Argo II, because of the way it was set up so that Leo was the only one who could really bond with it. And this is what makes Leo so compelling to me, is that he actually connects with his flying ship. I just feel like the Argo as its own character, similar to Serenity from firefly, could’ve been so good if it had been written right and was such wasted potential. It would’ve strengthened that bond between the Seven, and made that “familial” dynamic feel a lot more natural.
In conclusion? Everyone should go watch Firefly on Disney plus. It’s just fourteen, forty-five minute episodes, plus the movie. But man, is it worth it. You will cry at the deaths (why do all the good ones get impaled?). You will laugh at the jokes. You will probably say, “Wait- is that a young Zac Effron?” When a young Zac Effron has a cameo. You will wish you were as badass as River.
Idk, it’s 3:03am and this is basically a good idea of what the inside of my brain looks like most of the time. I’ve mentioned at least six obsessions of mine in this post.

malsimon in every episode of firefly, part 1: serenity
firefly the show ships mal and simon from the get go, and here’s why. (long winded analysis ahead)
when simon is first introduced, its through a stare off with MAL, who is immediately flustered by him. it’s clear from their first conversations and interactions that mal and simon don’t like each other, but it’s in this kinda weird way, right? they have immediate tension and mistrust on both sides, and when it comes to the confrontation when river is revealed, mal is delighted to have a reason to explain his perception of simon (pompous, privileged, holier than thou) justified as being something duplicitous. he IMMEDIATELY suspects simon and seeks him out first. course he’s wrong, and this leaves him even more confused and angry, causing him to physically lash out at simon. no doubt he is validly angry on kaylee’s behalf, but the countless lingering close ups after they speak seem to indicate something else is going on—simon gets to mal. mal has been cool and collected this whole episode until simon arrives, and suddenly he’s punching strangers and threatening to throw simon and river into space. like, damn we get it! he’s hot!
when he walks in on simon and inara his reaction is INSANE, like this bisexual chaosmonger has no idea what to do with himself in this situation. who is he jealous of? who is he angry at? the answer is yes!! to it all!!
“you’ll ruin her too you know.” such a charged line 😭
a substantial chunk of the episode is dedicated exclusively to Simon!Mal scenes, more than with his primary love interest. in fact, the way the show frames simon is literally as if he was a love interest, simon and inara have similar chemistry with mal, and mal’s only truly emotion-driven reactions in the episode are with them (and kaylee, but that’s obviously from a older-brother type place) which could mean nothing.
by the end of the pilot, mal is asking simon to stay on serenity despite everything that happened and he says “you ain’t weak” (which could mean NOTHING???) literally the final scene is the two of them alone i can’t make this shit up
“are you always this sentimental?” this is literally a flirtatious line … simon i know what you are
i shall return for episode 2, with more brain rot

my dad invited me and my brother to watch Firefly with him and it's actually really good??? (idk why I expected it not to be-- probably because the last time I tried one of his old Spaceship Shows (the one with the puppets) it was too sexist and too slow to get through.) First of all it should have been ILLEGAL for them to not have a single Chinese character in this show, but as a Chinese person I do like the aesthetics of the show and how they mashed up traditional Western and Chinese styles. The pronunciation is hilariously bad (IF ONLY THEY HAD A CHINESE ACTOR, HUH), but I like it because it's funny. (Me and my brother do laugh out loud every time.)
But the characters are actually so good?? First of all we got THREE FOUR (I didn't count right lmao) female main characters, no smurfette principal here! One of them doesn't even have any implied romance so far okay technically River doesn't but I was thinking of Kaylee and she has a crush on Simon lol. Kaylee, my favorite -- I LOVE how her appreciation of girly feminine stuff is portrayed as something that should NOT be mocked and does not negate her more "masculine" role as the mechanic and that she can nerd out WHILE being feminine. There's also how Mal, the main character, and Zoe, his first mate, have a longstanding and deep connection that's entirely platonic! Men and women CAN just be friends! Do note, Zoe (who is awesome btw) is married to another man, the pilot who is honestly so far the most boring character, and Mal is interested in Inara. Who, speaking of, I also love how so far Inara's profession as a (unionized it seems!) sex worker is treated with respect. River is the most ~okay~ in terms of sexist writing as a weak and mysterious and mentally unwell but sexy woman, but since she's not the only woman it doesn't feel like a big deal. (I feel like she's going to become more grounded, at least I hope so because I want to see more of her personality!) Misogynistic comments are challenged when made! Of course the writing isn't perfect but it's a LOT better than what I expected (and if a modern show didn't do the things I'm praising here I would be offended btw).
Also River's brother Simon is a complete dandy (I think it would be stereotyping for me to call him gay lmao), I love that for him. Episode one he bleeds from his mouth like a dying c-drama boy-- I just had a Vision of the resemblance and now I can't get it out of my head, all he needs to do his open his eyes super wide and then he'd be a dying c-drama boy. He cares for his sister so much, it's super sweet even though he REALLY sucks at dealing with psychosis(? would that be the term to describe her episodes?). Book is an instant icon of course, he's just there forcibly being the moral compass lol. Christianity in space smh. Despite being mr sexism I also love Jayne's character - he's funny (love a guy who's always trying to kill) and the question of his loyalty is intriguing. Mal is a kind of a Generic Protagonist Man but his backstory is solid enough that means his brooding attitude actually makes sense. The "Badger" side character is funny/interesting too, and my bro says he looks like Captian Sparklez haha. (Wash (Zoe's husband) is there. Sometimes he's funny.)
Going back to the design, I am partial to Victorian or whatever aesthetics, so I love how they threw that in along with the cowboy thing, and there's a lot of individual pieces merging Chinese aesthetics with that that I think do a great job. It speaks to my mixed heart <3. The costuming is actually so fun (mostly speaking to crowd scenes), so many characters get to wear distinctive outfits . Also kind of Killjoys vibes because they say "shiny" haha. I respect how space shots have no environment noise, only cowboy music lollll. Visual effects are interesting; you can always Tell but it does seem to me the best they could do at the time.
Wow this post turned out longer than I expected. So a recommendation for Firefly I guess! Forewarning, the parts with the "Reavers" are pretty dark/grotesque -- actually, there's significant violence throughout the show, the Reavers are just the worst.

Firefly and Serenity
I just rewatched Firefly for about 12th time and I still hate FOX for cancelling it.
Yes, we are not supposed to talk about Joss Whedon these days but think whatever you want, he knew how to work with big cast, characters and how to mix it together. His Buffy, Angel and Firefly are three shows that are a great example of that. Yes, today, we know he was a bully and it is not OK. But I am not going to pretend these shows don´t exist - it would be disrespectful towards the people who worked hard on those shows, despite the conditions and created memorable characters and are still proud about being part of these shows.
Now, after the explanation - Firefly existed for only a brief moment in time, yet made a huge impact for many reasons.
I understand Whedon took some inspirations in, for example, Blake´s 7. Today a bit unknown show about rebels on a space-ship, edging western (or Mad Max :D ) at some points. It was a low-budget but great show and the insipiration is apparent. But in Firfely, the characters are not criminals (or falesly accussed criminals, that would be B7 AND Farscape, but that´s another story), and Malcolm Reynolds could have been actually a very complex character, if he got a chance to take a few seasons to develop from the moral, yet grey area captain to the darker turn in Serenity. But he did not get them but Nathan did a great job with the short amount of time he had. That is why Serenity is a bit of an odd animal. It is a result of a characer and story development that never happened.
In the existing 14 episodes, you get character interactions between ALL characters, each one has sort of "their" episode but it never fails to be a team piece.
Mal´s adamant "you are my crew" and his protectivness over everybody is the core. He accepted Simon and River into his arms and his crew without a hesitation. His "Simon is many things, coward is not one of them." shows a huge respect towards - for him a snobbish person who represented all he fought against in the war - who gave up everything to protect and save his sister. His relationship with Inara is "will they, won´t they", his total trust in Zoe, who always has his back and through her, in Wash. Even Jayne, who knows very well how lucky he was to get onto Malcolm´s ship. Mal´s almost older brother protectivness over Kayles is cute.
Through all this, we get to know all the other characters.
And yet, we know so little and we never get to know more. No wonder the episodes like "Out of Gas" or "Objects in space" are some among the most favourite.
Inara, who for some reason left her relatively safe life and income at the Core and went to discover edges of the space with a band of thieves. Why? What happened? Would she be able to leave: What are the rules of the Guild?
Book and his set of skills that included knowledge of Alliance tacticts, firearms, fight and we never get to know how he got to do and know all of this.
Simon and his slow change, warming up towards people who he would never even met in his previous life. His slow acceptance that this piece of junk is actually his home, where he is respected and cared for and finds a love and safety for himself and River.
Kaylee, her innocence and trust in people, who is cared for as a junior member of the crew and protected even by someone like Jayne.
Jayne, a mercenary, a criminal, a person who you can trust for as long as he gets paid...or not? What made him this way? Where did he learn to fight and shoot like that?
Wash, who we know nothing much about except that he is a great pilot and loves Zoe, yet is instantly our favourite. Who he was before? Where did he learn to fly?
Zoe, who is a "first officer", yet we know probably the least about her. Who she was before she joined the army? How did she fall in love with Wash?
I could go on and on and still suffer from the fact we will never know.
Yet, we got some answers in Serenity, that had painfully too short time to cover it all. It is different tonally, the crew seems to have some cracks and as mentioned above, apparently a few years passed so everyoboy is a bit more bitter, Mal the most and his OOC behaviour from "You are part of my crew" to "You haveto earn the stay on my crew" is a bit too big leap.
Yet, it is at least *some* conclusion and more or less tries to stay faithful to everything else we loved in those brief 14 episodes. Some shows got cancelled even without the luxury of any closeruse.
Serenity can also work as a stand-alone movie. I saw it years before I got to Firefly and only later found out it was a sequl to the show. Yet, I enjoyed it as a sci-fi nerd, and did not really need to know that much. The scene where they are listening to the message from the doctor and then her apparent death in hands of the Reavers, recorded and shown off screen, but with screams and faces of our characters watching it, is one of the most chilling scenes ever. "Don´t show" is the best way how to create a horror. So it was not a bad movie at all, but makes you feel nostalgic and sad about "what could have been" because we were robbed. We could have spent so much more times with these people.
Many of the actors went on to have successful carreers and other shows and it is good for them.
Yet, this not-even-remotely forgotten gem should, and could continue, if it was not already so many years since it aired. I don´t want a sequel or a remake because it is impossible to remake in the same atmosphere and chemistry of the cast.
We can keep this show close to our hearts with the "what could have been" thought and rewatch it from time to time, to let the world know that we love it, remember it and that FOX should be damned for cancelling it too soon :)

Christmas lights twinkled merrily in the dusty shop windows of Rentory.
Simon sighed, his breath misting in the cold air, and pulled his coat tighter around himself. River snuggled closer, worming her way in under his arm and he grinned tiredly, pulling her close.
The streets were quiet, only a few people still out so late, trudging between the shops like they had nothing better to do.
The coat Inara gave River had a hood and Simon gently pulled it up over her head, hiding her face from the cold and from the police officer walking past. The fur tickled her cheek and River giggled.
Simon smiled at the sound and started digging around in the pocket of his coat, winking at River's confused look.
"I - I got you something. I know it's not much but-," Simon's smile faltered but he went on. "I thought, seeing that it's Christmas..."
He drew out a small box, wrapped in brown paper. "Kaylee helped me-"
"Can't go home," she suddenly whispered and Simon's grin fell, the present dropping back into his pocket, forgotten.
He thought of Osiris, a place that had been more of a house than a home and he thought of Serenity and it's crew and the way they protected their own.
Their own of which the Tams weren't a part of. They weren't family crew, the Captain had made that quite clear.
It had been home gorram it all.
Simon sighed, and glanced up at the cloudy night sky, unsure of what to say, unconsciously looking for the telltale glow of a Firefly breaking atmo.
He let go of River and pushed the bridge of his glasses up his nose, guilt burning bright in his stomach. The irony of what he was wearing wasn't lost on either of the two sibling°.
"I'm sorry, mei-mei-" Simon started but River shook her head, her eyes wide.
"No. No. Not your fault."
She grabbed at her brother's hand, pulling him closer. Blue eyes met brown and there was a spark of something in River's eyes, willing her brother to understand.
"Never your fault. Meant to be this way. Always meant to go."
Never meant to have a home.
Simon pulled her into a bone crushing hug, hoping it would keep them from falling apart.
They both knew it wouldn't. Losing a family once was hard enough. Twice...
"Nos contra mundum. Ut dictum est*," she whispered a hand twined into the collar of his coat, the fingers of her other hand tapping out a rhythm on his back only she could hear.
"Ut dictum est," he echoed.
Snow stared to fall, and they both turned their faces to the sky, trying not to feel like they had just lost something they never even really had.
🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨
°It's the same outfit he wore the day he boarded Serenity.
*according to google translate it roughly means "Us against the world. As it is meant to be." It's a phrase made up by the tiny Tams, usually said 'in victory', like if they weren't punished/caught or got away with something that technically went against their parents' rules. Now though...
Author's Note-
It was raining when I woke up so I decided to write this merry angsty little ficlet before the people started to arrive. It's not one of my bests but it has a special place in my heart.
I hope all of you Browncoats enjoy this and thank you for making this year one of the best ones ever <3
Merry Christmas!🎄

Azula redemption, but make it a Firefly AU.
Serenity is named Appa instead. Aang is the pilot, taking the place of Wash. Katara takes the place of Zoe, with Sokka being Mal. Toph is Jayne. Uncle Iroh is the Shepard.
Im not as sure who would be Kaylee and Inara.
Probably Yue for Inara, though maybe Suki instead. And I almost want to say Ty Lee for Kaylee? Which doesn't quite work with Zuko taking the role of Simon, but oh well.
And then Azula takes the role of River. Zuko got her away from the Alliance (not sure if Ozai is part of the Alliance or just the same sort of uncaring jerk that Simon and Rivers dad was)
Not sure how the rest combines but I like the idea of the Gaang hurtling through space, while Aang chants "I am a leaf on the wind, Watch how I soar."

"Love Is" set to Alannah Myles, a bunch of movie clips that depict different versions of love. And apparently, when I made this ages ago, I was focused on one movie in particular that would surprise most in a video about love, but whatever. I watched it now and was kinda enchanted.
"Eat It" - Weird Al Yankovic. A bunch of Veronica Mars characters eating and interacting with food. Anyone who was ever on screen in the first two seasons is fair game in this vid. Also, this is the vid that Rob Thomas loved and showed the VM cast members.
"Hotel California", set to the Eagles. First two and a half seasons of Veronica Mars. Welcome to the Hotel California, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
"Tale As Old As Time", set to the Australian Cast of the Broadway Musical Beauty and the Beast. Featuring Veronica Mars as Belle, Logan Echolls as the Beast, Duncan Kane as Gaston, Keith as Belle's Father, and many, many more!
"Immune" - Firefly, set to Del Amitri's "Immune to the Whole Affair". I do love me some Jayne/Kaylee.
"The Girl of my Dreams (Is Giving Me Nightmares" - set to Machine Gun Fellatio, Jayne/River. And while I was never a Jayne and River fan, this was a friend request and turned out to be one of my most popular vids. So... idek.
"Fine Bunch of Reubens" - Multi-song, character retrospective that has a song describing each of the eleven characters we know and love from Firely (that's right, I said ELEVEN, and I meant it). This is a long one, but I adore it so. And I still stand by my song choice for each character.
"Disarm" - set to the Smashing Pumpkins, Sam and Jack. Yep, a Skewed Believer from way back (and if you know what I'm talking about, pull up a fandom chair in the Fandom Old Folks' home and we can reminisce). This is my first video ever.
"Try Not to Remember" - set to Sheryl Crow, a Dollhouse general vid. As Echo/Caroline becomes aware. S1.
"Touched" - set to VAST. Simon and River. I... can't believe I almost forget this one.
Other vids that didn't make the poll, but are still there and I adore them:
The VM trilogy, Logan/Veronica/Duncan. Each character has their own video to explore the dynamic beween the three. Logan "She Says", Veronica "You Oughtta Know" and Duncan "White Wedding".
VM "Cry". If you think the men of VM cry a lot, you'd be right. (humour).
VM"Pretty When You Cry", Veronica Mars Vs Villians.
VM "Stupid Girl", Lilly Kane video.
VM "Tell On You (Letter to My Rapist)", a Veronica Mars "A Trip to the Dentist" video.
VM "Tramp", The men of VM are tramps, enough said (humour).
Firefly: "Gimme a Break", Mal Reynolds Vs all the people that shit him to tears.
Firefly: Kaylee. A Kaylee Frye vid set to "Can't Keep A Good Girl Down".
Glee: "Yo Mamma", Puck likes to fuck Moms. It's canon.
Heroes: "Vindicated", a Nikki video.
Once Upon a Time: "Bleeding Out", Swan Queen.
Once Upon a Time: "Temptation Waits", Emma and Jefferson.
BtVS: "Big Shot" , a Warren video.
BtVS: "Hero", an Andrew Video.
BtVS: "Pretty Fly for a White Guy", a Jonathon video.
BtVS: "Under Your Spell", a Tara video.
All BtVS videos were made for a Buffy con and shown at the con. Which is why they were these specific characters.
