Simon, who hadn’t been to a family gathering in many years, felt his eyes widen as he was led inside, a giant gathering of food and family surrounding the dining table.

Simon, who wasn’t used to being the center of attention, felt his cheeks burn as your family asked him about himself with genuine interest.

Simon, who had gotten used to the military rationed meals, felt a warmth pool in his belly-feeling pleasantly full for the first time in years.

Simon, who was genuinely upset when the night ended, felt his heart thaw ever so slightly as your family insisted on him coming for the holidays.

Simon, who was always reluctant on physical touch, made sure to hug your mom back a bit tighter this time as she whispered something in his ear.

Simon, who left that night with a genuine smile, his heart full as he finally had a family that accepted him with open arms.
