Hobbies and sub-hobbies

I've been working on implementing a sub-hobby system in my game recently and really enjoying it! I took a look at the different activities available for different hobbies and came up with my list, which I thought I'd share here.

I do have some mods that change the hobby enthusiasm of some objects, or add new ones - I'll link where applicable.

I don't assign these based on any system, just vibes. I usually stick with whatever hobby the game assigns, but I do sometimes change them if it really feels like it doesn't fit to me. The sub-hobbies are intended to be a main focus, but Sims can and will still try other aspects of their overall hobby, and other hobbies altogether sometimes too!

The list is a work in progress but I'm basically happy with it now.

Edit: I found a version of the punching bag that gives fitness enthusiasm instead of sports, and that activity makes more sense to me as a fitness thing, so I moved that sub-hobby over.

Edit 2: Combined a couple gaming subhobbies into "Social Games" and added MyShuno to that category.

Edit 3: Combined sewing and knitting into Fibre Arts under Arts & Crafts hobbies.

Edit 4: Added candlemaking to the Arts & Crafts category.

"Not like my parents" Legacy Challenge

A fun sims challenge for those that want to play around with different packs and also have sims babies that grow up "not like my parents".

Basic Rules:

Try to use minimal cheats

You can live anywhere unless otherwise specified

Generation one: Gothic

Think a vibe like the Addams family - A sim that is gothic and is obsessed with everything to do with death and the supernatural. This sim also has a passion for music and collects tarot cards in their spare time.

THE SIMS 4: BARBIE Decades Challenge!

As an aspiring Barbie connoisseur, it gives me great JOY to present this challenge , HUGELY  inspired by @sim-himbo Barbie Legacy Challenge and @liyaahgee Urban Barbie Legacy

Barbie has been around since 1959 till now ( 7 generations ) , And adding decades and Barbie lore to the Sims 4 as a challenge would be fun!

the world reminds me of san sequoia which i hate cause i hate the suberbaness of it all but with the addition of the live in businesses i think this world would be more city like i think? there is a big emphases of 2 story apartment buildings and townhouse style doesnt look like there is much "residential gated communities" area WHICH IM VERY EXITED FOR! i think its gonna be so easy to make magnolia promenade an extension of this world <3

all in all im very excited and i know alot of people are annoyed by the reuse of some animations but um thats actually quite normal for devs to do that i've seen it alot of times actually, i would be mad if they just repurposed existing gameplay (like the spells and potions from the realm of magic :( ) but it doesnt seem like the case here? also this gives me hope for a bands pack because we already got the guitar animation in nifty knitting and the singing animations from bg piano from city living and the performance from all the sim festivals they did they just need to make the drums and its animations and actually make it all work together idk its giving me hope!

10 things I do to feel close to my romantic F/O!

Hopefully, these will make you feel close to yours too♡

1. Make a Piccrew or Neka of the two of you! Dress each other up, try out different poses and backgrounds… and when you’re done, you’ll have a photo album of all the photos you took together! (Let me know if you would like a list of couples’ piccrews/Neka’s to make you and your F/O with)

2. Listen to your F/O’s voice double sing! I can’t vouch for forms of western media, but almost all Japanese seiyuus have sung something before, if you’re only willing to dig for it! Not only do a lot of IP’s include character songs, I’ve also even found cover CD’s of “popular voice actor compilations.” You can also consult my guide on how to find drama CD’s of your favorite voice actor here. I am always MORE THAN happy to help anime/Japanese game self-shippers find voice actor content; you need only ask💜

3. Snuggle their clothes! If you don’t have a shirt/jacket that belongs your F/O yet, I highly recommend getting one. If you take a trip to your local thrift store, I’m sure you’ll find something that matches their style that they left for you to find! Once you have it, I then recommend spraying it with their perfume or cologne– there are websites that let you design your own unique scents, but this is my favorite place to buy. [Bonus step: warm it up in the dryer or with a heating pad!]

4. Bring a little piece of them everywhere! I like to bring my plushie and acrylic stands out with me to photograph, but it can be anything they’d give you– a necklace, a trinket, a ring, a handkerchief– anything in your pocket that reminds you that they’re always there with you.

5. Make a “what’s in their bag” edit, and include pics all of the things they’d carry with them!

6. It’s classic, but make a playlist of songs that describe you, or the two of you together. You might even discover some new music in the process! (You can also ask some trusted friends and fandommates to make one for you!)

7. Make a list, collage, or board of their favorites things, and I mean everything! Favorite food, drink, color, season, flower, time of day, quote, gemstone, holiday, animal, movie, place…. as thorough as you’d like! Even if it’s not mentioned in canon, you know them best, right?

8. Speaking of Pinterest boards, everyone says to make them, but here are some ideas on specifically WHAT to make collages of.

•Clothes you think they’d wear (or want to see them in…)

•Decorations/design for their house (or both of yours!)

•Activities you’d want to do with them

•Places you’d like to visit together

•Moody pics that fit their style/aesthetic

•Gifts you would give them, or they would give you

•Things that would make them smile or laugh

•Quotes, or something sappy/romantic/intimate!

9. Fill out a ship template or make your own! (Like this, for example)

10. The Sims. Seriously. The base game has been free for a long time, and mods make anything you could dream of possible. I have a wonderful house, marriage, and lots of cute little kids with my F/O and it’s my favorite place to be!

HIGHSCHOOL NPC's: THE CHEER TEAM.

Hello my dear simmers! Aren't you tired of your highschool having the same weird npc's and characters? Well, if you are I have the solution for you. In this little project I have recreated the Copperdale Highschool teams from scratch, this is part 1 of 4. They are all assigned to their specific after-school activities and each have their own likes, dislikes and skills.

+ INFORMATIONS, INSTRUCTIONS AND DOWNLOAD BELOW THE CUT:

These sims were made mainly with base game + high school years and NO CC whatsoever, any other packs are optional for the pre-chosen milestones, lifestyles, reputation, etc. If any pack other than base game and highschool years show up in the gallery it's a bug.

If you don't want them to move into houses as they're not (in theory) a family, place them into an empty lot, evict them and move them into the "other households" while in the manage households pannel, also if you want them to keep their specific roles/jobs don't forget to turn neighborhood stories off (can be done individually if you don't want it to affect other households). - I use THIS mod to assign all my highschool NPC's. -

Generation 1: Bob Belcher

Traits: Foodie, Perfectionist, Family-Oriented.

Aspiration: Master Chef.

Main Goal: Establish “Bob’s Burgers” restaurant.

Income Target: Achieve a net worth of $50,000.

Family Size: Three children (two girls and one boy). MUST start off with a preteen/teen and two children.

Bob’s Rules:

Bob must achieve level 10 in the cooking skill before his eldest child becomes a young adult.

Bob must maintain a positive relationship with Teddy, Mort, and Regular-Sized Rudy to gather local support for the restaurant.

Bob must participate in at least one cooking competition and win a prize before his youngest child becomes a teenager.

Generation 2: Linda Belcher

Traits: Outgoing, Music Lover, Cheerful.

Aspiration: Party Animal.

Main Goal: Establish a successful musical career.

Income Target: Reach a net worth of $100,000.

Family Size: Two children (preferably girls).

Linda’s Rules:

Linda must achieve level 10 in the singing skill before her youngest child becomes a young adult.

Linda must organize at least three community events, such as block parties or talent shows, before her eldest child becomes a teenager.

Linda must write and perform a song about the family’s restaurant at least once before her youngest child becomes a teenager.

Generation 3: Tina Belcher

Traits: Bookworm, Romantic, Goofball.

Aspiration: Bestselling Author.

Main Goal: Write and publish a bestselling romance novel.

Income Target: Attain a net worth of $150,000.

Family Size: Two children.

Tina’s Rules:

Tina must achieve level 10 in the writing skill before her eldest child becomes a young adult.

Tina must have at least five romantic interactions with different Sims before her youngest child becomes a teenager.

Tina must complete the “Write a Novel” milestone before her youngest child becomes a teenager.

Generation 4: Gene Belcher

Traits: Creative, Ambitious, Foodie.

Aspiration: Musical Genius.

Main Goal: Become a famous musician.

Income Target: Achieve a net worth of $200,000.

Family Size: One child.

Gene’s Rules:

Gene must achieve level 10 in the guitar skill before his child becomes a young adult.

Gene must perform at least three concerts at different venues before his child becomes a teenager.

Gene must compose and record at least three original songs before his child becomes a teenager.

Generation 5: Louise Belcher

Traits: Evil, Insider, Genius.

Aspiration: Chief of Mischief.

Main Goal: Uncover neighborhood secrets and maintain the family legacy.

Income Target: Reach a net worth of $250,000.

Family Size: Four children.

Louise’s Rules:

Louise must achieve level 10 in the mischief skill before her eldest child becomes a young adult.

Louise must complete the “Prank Day” tradition every year before her youngest child becomes a teenager.

Louise must uncover and expose at least three neighborhood secrets before her youngest child becomes a teenager.

BACKGROUND CHARACTERS:

These loveable background characters will add to your gameplay and make some of the challenges more interesting. They are not necessary to your gameplay but you can create background characters based off of these ones.

Teddy: The lovable yet clumsy handyman who frequents “Bob’s Burgers”. He could occasionally break things in the restaurant, requiring repairs or upgrades.

Mort: The owner of the neighboring funeral home and a frequent customer at the restaurant. Mort might ask for favors related to his business or need emotional support during tough times.

Regular-Sized Rudy: One of the Belcher kids’ classmates who struggles with self-esteem. He could require assistance with school projects or seek friendship with the player’s Sims.

Marshmallow: The local transgender sex worker who occasionally hangs out at the restaurant. Marshmallow could provide valuable advice or connections to the underground scene in town.

Jimmy Pesto: The rival restaurateur who owns “Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria” across the street. Jimmy might try to sabotage Bob’s business through various means, requiring strategic maneuvers to outsmart him.

Mr. Fischoeder: The eccentric landlord who owns the building where “Bob’s Burgers” is located. Mr. Fischoeder could offer lucrative opportunities or impose challenging demands on the Belcher family.

Courtney: A local musician and potential love interest for Gene. She could offer opportunities for collaboration on music projects or events at the restaurant.

Hugo: The local health inspector who frequently inspects “Bob’s Burgers”. Hugo might demand bribes or impose strict regulations, adding a layer of challenge to maintaining the restaurant’s cleanliness and compliance.

Tammy: A conniving classmate of the Belcher kids who often causes trouble. Tammy could spread rumors, disrupt family events, or interfere with relationships, requiring diplomatic solutions.

Zeke: A rough-and-tumble friend of Gene and Louise. Zeke could challenge the player’s Sims to physical contests or get into mischief that affects the neighborhood.

Ollie and Andy: Twin pranksters who enjoy causing chaos in the neighborhood. They could pull elaborate pranks on the player’s Sims, requiring quick thinking to avoid embarrassment or damage.

Gale: The eccentric neighbor who owns the art store next to “Bob’s Burgers”. Gale could provide bizarre yet valuable advice or involve the player’s Sims in her creative endeavors.

No cheats unless otherwise stated in generation rules, needed to reset a sim, or for decoration/building purposes.

Mods are okay, provided they do not give you an unfair advantage. What constitutes an unfair advantage is up to you.

Complete each generation's Aspiration

Above all, have fun. If that means continuing onto the next generation without finishing all of the previous gen goals, that’s okay.

Generation 1 Animal Crossing:

Traits: Loves Outdoors/Outgoing/Maker

Aspiration: Curator

You have moved into a new town with nothing but the clothes on your back. Well at least Mr. Nook was nice enough to give you a new home even with the work you'll have to do to pay him off. It’ll be tough but you’ve quite the knack for building and your neighbors seem more than happy to cheer you on.

Move into an empty lot and build a small house. (Optional: Make your house a Tiny Home Residential lot and choose what tier to work with from there.)

After one day, move two single townie sims into your neighborhood and become friends with them (If one of them becomes your founder’s spouse, make a new neighbor to move into their old house.)

Neither the founder nor spouse will hold a job, they will make money via at home activities like painting, fishing, etc.

Have a room to display your collections

At the end of every sim week, use cheats or mods to remove half of your household funds (to pay off your debt to Mr. Nook) until both your sim and their spouse reach the adult stage.

Generation 2 Splatoon: 

Traits: Creative/Dance Machine/Party Animal

Aspiration: Famous Celebrity 

Despite your humble beginnings, you always dreamed big. You were often found drawing outfits from fashion magazines or singing along to your favorite pop idols or doing cool poses for selfies at the pool. Once you became a teen, you started taking little steps to join that glamorous world.

Become a simfluencer as a teen

Move to San Myshuno or Del Sol Valley once you become a Young Adult

Reach the top of the Style Influencer career (Trendsetter branch)

Host a party once every sim week

Either become or marry a merperson. Heir however must be just a sim.

Max out painting, dancing, and singing skills

Traits: Good/Adventurous/Music Lover

Aspiration: Jungle Explorer

Everyone expected you to become a spoiled brat but thankfully you turned out to be a good kid with a love for music and a dream of exploring far-off ancient ruins. You make a friend who supports you all the way but you also make an enemy constantly getting in your way.

Make a friend as a child or teen, become BFFs with them, and stay that way for as long as either sim lives (friend can be a future spouse) 

As a child or teen become enemies with one sim and stay enemies for as long as either sim lives. Win at least five fights with them. (Optional: Have this sim be an evil sim)

Max out the Archaeology skill and one instrument skill

Complete the Ancient Omiscan Artifacts Collection

Get the “Brave” reward trait

Live in four different worlds before becoming a young adult

Make three friends and create a club with them (Optional: Make these friends as a child and grow up together)

Max out photography and comedy skills

Become a spellcaster as a teen and work on reaching the top rank

Complete the Postcard Collection

Adopt a dog when your first kid becomes a child

Both heirs take a part time job as Manual Laborers until one of them gets married then the married one joins the Doctor career

The other heir maxes out the Medium skill and becomes a Paranormal Investigator

Both heirs max out Handiness skill

One heir unlocks Sylvan Glade and the other unlocks Forgotten Grotto

Reach the sixth level of the Astronaut career and quit after one shift.

Only take odd jobs after quitting your career

Have an alien child (feel free to cheat/mod to get an abduction or to get a female sim alien pregnant)

Gain the Techie lifestyle
