Skarloey Railway’s 22: 🌪️ Luke the Mist Spirit 🌪️

The latest and newest member of the Skarloey Railway Spirits, Luke was brought to Sodor to work at the new (at the time) Blue Mountain Quarry, but went missing for many years after a traumatic accident he caused upon his arrival, hiding away in the tunnels of the Blue Mountain Quarry with the help of the other Skarloey railway spirits and his new engine crew, while using his unique mist magic to try and conceal himself, until meeting Thomas who helped him discover and find out the truth of what happened to the other spirit that was on the boat with him that brought them to Sodor.

Luke is a friendly, energetic and plucky young spirit always keen to work with the other spirits and humans living on the island. Being one of the two air spirits on the narrow gauge railway (Not counting Duke since he’s duel element spirit), Luke enjoys flying and normally keeps his feet off the ground, often taking in the vast sights of his own railway and sometimes even visiting the grounds of Ulfstead Castle to visit the young deer he made friends with. Also as a result of his experiences he sometimes helps solve mysteries that other spirits or humans have, becoming like a little detective for free.

“The Old Lady” was what they called her back in the day. The 1900s had turbulent days and hardships for the Talyllyn Railway, but despite the odds, they had overcome it all.

But all that hard work, all their struggles, all their successions, overshadowed by their twin railway; The Skarloey. As a result of the reverend’s books, their railway became popular as it was a place where fans could celebrate their siblings and have the engines dress up as their celebrity counterparts. For the Talyllyn engines, it was uncomfortable, especially when guests just pretended they were someone they weren’t, even if it wasn’t the Extravaganza week. Dolgoch knew it all too well, but she just had to bear through it.

Their voices are ignored.

They simply have to smile.

Sometimes, they can’t help but envy their siblings.

Is a little bit of recognition too much to ask?

So I've recently been re-watching Gravity Falls, and the idea of Proteus-Cipher has returned enough for me to decide to draw this.

Consider this scene to be connected to this post from about a year ago at this point.

Hey, do you have any HC about the Skarloey engines? :)

Yeah! I have some of them! So i'll just leave some here :)

• First, they're inspired on lynx or bobcats. That's why all of them have a very similar spotted fur pattern and lighter cheek fur. Also a smol tail.

• In winter, they sleep on the top of eachother. Being the less fluffy ones (Rusty, Luke and the pups) covered by the most fluffy ones. (Skarloey and Rheneas).

• Sir Handel and Duncan, as they're not able to work like before due to their physical disabilities are the ones who take care of the pups (Savella and Ronald).

-Now let's go with 1 hc about each narrow-

❤{Skarloey}= Kinda the leader of the gang. And a Grandfatherly figure to the pupsies.

Also likes to hunt at night. Unknown reason yet. Rheneas usually jokes with him wanting all the food, so he hunts when everyone's asleep.

🧡{Rheneas}= Plays Hide and Seek with the pups and Skarloey by teams.

💙{Sir Handel}= Chirps with Savella when he sleeps. PS likes to think they're talking in cat language lol.

💚{Peter Sam}= Sir Handel told him many times to stop, but he still likes to help him with his work and stuff as he can't walk properly. Itlooks like Sir Handel doesn't want to admit it, but he likes when PS does this.

🧡{Rusty}= Haves his own fav puddle where he sleeps. Remember, Diesels must keep their skin wet or they could get very sick and sensitive.

💛{Duncan}= Even though he's blind, his sense of hearing and smell are super-developed, so he may return to work in a while. For now, he keeps his pup and Sir Handel's in check and helps him with the miniature Steamworks they built.

💚{Luke}= Usually escapes from work just to go visit Millie. Duncan often catches him and scolds him for this.

🤎{Duke}= Likes to collect leaves and put them on his fur. Also usually gifts them to his great-grandpup, Savella, and Ronnie.
