Hiya! I’m rewatching Danny Phantom for the first time in years and am looking for some good fanfiction to read once I’m finished. Someone recommended me to your blog, so I was wondering if you had any that were your favorites that you would recommend 😄 thank you lots!

Hey! To be honest, I don't really read fanfics anymore. I used to, but once I got back into writing them in 2017, I kind of fell away from reading them. Nowadays, I only read fics that I beta read for, so to that end, I definitely recommend anything by Lexosaurus! She approaches angst in the way I adore, so if you're into angst, you should have a good time with her fics!

And if you're not into angst, I can't be much help, I'm afraid. :b Everything I touch turns to angst.

Last song: Blood Code by Le Castle Vania. I listen to a lot of instrumental music to work through scenes in my head.

Favorite color: Teal and crimson keep vying for my #1 spot.

Last book: Most Delicious Poison by Noah Whiteman. I alternate between fiction and nonfiction, and this one was specifically to plan stuff for Tyffial. (I also took the Drugs & the Brain class at Cal from Prof. Presti, so when I saw Whiteman taught biology there, I knew it would be a good book.)

Last movie: Event Horizon, for Halloween. I don't watch movies all that often since I'm trying to catch up on shows.

Last TV show: Blue Eye Samurai. I keep re-watching it because there are so many details that I didn't catch on earlier views. Fantastic storytelling and an incredible amount of effort put into it.

Sweet/Savory/Spicy: If I had to pick just one, savory.

Relationship status: Happily single. No interest in anything else.

Last thing I googled: Shipping delivery times because I totally forgot to mail gifts earlier.

Current obsession: Witcher... again. I am so cautious about Witcher 4 because of how the show went off the rails, but Witcher 3 was phenomenal. Here's hoping Ciri's story makes sense.

Looking forward to: Time off for the holidays. These past few months have been hectic and we finally cleared our plates just in time for travel.

I feel like I’m misremembering or something, but didn’t you write a ficlet or something set after Virgil gets drugged in “let my mind reset”? Like from Virgil’s pov or smt where he cuddles up next to Roman? I swear I remember reading that at some point but I can’t recall. I searched through the Wibar and the lmmr tags and I can’t find it, so I’m wondering if I imagined it :/

Oh! Btw, I absolutely love all your stories. I really needed some comfort and a nice fic to read, and I was scrolling ao3 and I could’ve read anything, but my mind kept coming back around to your fics and the familiar comfort they hold, and so I just had to open up your works again, and I’ve made my way through the main Wibar story again, and I’m reminded by how much I love it (but I might need to reread teoba again for some of that fluff because that angst was oof, but all part of a balanced fic diet, not I just need some cute to soothe the soul)

See, you say this but 1. I am contrary, and 2. I am an angst gremlin! So we'll be taking number #2 for a punch in the gut, thank you Skele!

Percy avoids all of them after they chase Orthax out. Some of that may just be because he's sulking over the List - Keyleth wouldn't be surprised; her best friend is a lot more emotional than he likes to pretend - but honestly, she thinks it's much more likely that now they know for certain why he's a tiefling, he's just not... dealing well.

Honestly, she can't imagine she'd deal well, realising she'd changed something so fundamental about herself without realising, let alone that it came along with a demon deal, but also she thinks Percy is being a bit stupid about it, maybe? They're his friends and they love him and every burden is easier to bear when it's shared: he shouldn't have to be alone.

It takes her some time to find him. He's not in his room or the workshop he's claimed, or visiting his sister, or down in the acid chambers by the ziggurat. She ends up going Minxie just to try to sniff him out, and then has to turn back into herself twice when she scares some poor maids cleaning out the old parlours and in the end she gives up and Polymorphs herself into a housecat because then maybe she won't scare people so much.

She's gotten so used to being able to use Minxie, she really should be more mindful.

Still, once she catches his scent it's not too tricky to find him. He's curled up in a small tower room, tucked into a window seat and leaning his head back against bare stone almost the same colour he is.

It doesn't escape her notice that he jumps when she turns back to herself.

"Keyleth," he says and...

Oh. Does he sound shaken?

"Are you okay?" she says. "You've been avoiding us-"

"I rather thought I'd scared you," he says, swallowing. "Given-"

He had, a bit. It was... it was awful seeing her friend slowly become a monster and how willing he was to be cruel and horrible but... Orthax is gone now. And she doesn't think Percy would be hiding from them if it wasn't partially for their sakes. Percy can be arrogant, yes, and entitled, but he also respects the hell out of them? And she remembers what he'd said, when they'd started wondering if he really was in control of himself. She doesn't think he wants to hurt them, not really.

"A little," she admits, settling on the other end of the windowseat, leaning her staff against the wall. "But- also worried about you?"

He blinks at that - he always blinks at that, like they shouldn't care about him and it always confuses her, how Percy can be the most confident, arrogant person in a room and then... be like that. It's like he doesn't think he's worth anything while still demanding everything.

"Are you okay?" she asks again, because he still seems a little off.

He lets out a long breath - she thinks it wobbles a bit and narrows her eyes.

"I'll be fine," he says.

"Percy~" she says, half a whine, because he should know better by now. She doesn't want him to be fine at some point. She wants to know if she can help him now.

Percy doesn't say anything but that's normal. Keyleth's spent enough time in silence with Percy to know when he's silently thinking and planning something to say as opposed to just thinking to himself. At least there's no smoke now, wisping up from his collar - just his usual sooty fingertips and charcoal-touched ears.

"It's unsettling," he says quietly, staring out the window. "Seeing you-" He waves a hand, claws flashing pearlescent in the light from the window. "Changing forms isn't-"

Oh. Oh. Of course.

"I mean-" she says. "I won't- I won't do that to you, if you don't want me to."

Percy's bark of laughter is sudden but he is smiling, so she'll take that as a good sign. "Keyleth dear," he says fondly, "You did Hold Person me when Scanlan tossed the List in the acid."

"You would have dived in!" she says. "We didn't want you to get-"

Oh.

"You don't like being restrained," she says. Percy doesn't say anything. "You could have told me," she grouses.

Though. She supposes he didn't get a chance to before: it's not like it'd ever come up. They don't usually get into fights with each other.

"I'm sorry," she offers. He twitches, but doesn't look at her, still staring out the window. It is a nice view - Whitestone's all edged in frost, snow slowly drifting down. If the wind doesn't change they'll be covered by Winter's Crest. "Percy?"

"I don't remember being changed," he admits. "I don't think I want to."

Hello, I just wanted to tell you I enjoyed your Fortune’s Favor (Fortune’s Fooled) fic more than anything and it’s been giving me brain rot since I’ve read it and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I want to ask so many questions about what will happen, but I fear you won’t be able to answer due to spoilers, so I’m just vibrating in place until then I guess. Okay, so Virge still has some fight in him. That’s good! Right? Roman should be gone fairly long in the Imagination, Patton’s distracted (and wouldn’t be able to see V anyway) and Logan...what exactly IS Logan doing even though it isn’t his turn to watch V? - Rose (just Rose ;)

Since Thomas would be mostly guided by Patton and Roman in the art of professional make believe with friends, Logan was free to spend some time alone. As he often did, he spent this time researching, pulling up any information they’d learned about anxiety as a disorder, and about Anxiety their fellow Side. 

If he wanted to be certain he was judging the situation correctly, it was possible he needed to work on maintaining a more impartial perspective. After all, though he didn’t have anything personal against the other Side, he had become frustrated in the past with the illogical cognitive distortions that Anxiety would push upon Thomas.

Immersed in his work, he didn’t notice the subtle click of the door to his room locking.

The Witchiest Witch to Ever Witch

Roman was sitting in his room, eating sorting through the candy that his dads had picked up for himself and his brother, Virgil, to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, which just so happened to be tonight.

It also just so happened to be Virgil’s absolute favorite holiday of the year by far. Seriously. The dude cared more about it than Christmas, or his own birthday.

Roman thoughtfully popped another candy into his mouth. (Its wrapper was bent, which obviously meant it was too substandard to be saved for the children). He supposed Virgil’s affinity for the holiday wasn’t exactly surprising—the aesthetic certainly bled out into his year-round wardrobe, for one thing—although he took it to a bit of an extreme.

Virgil had woken them up practically at the stroke of midnight on the first of the month to get them all to decorate the house, dance to Halloween music (at least, Roman and Dad danced), and to bake pumpkin pie. And sure, that was a lot of fun, but… overkill, much?

They’d also spent much of the month doing suitably ‘spoopy’ activities: going to haunted houses, browsing for new decorations that may or may not take up a permanent residence in Virgil’s room after the holiday, watching Halloween or horror movies (Dad did not participate in the latter), and of course, putting together their costumes.

Virgil’s Halloween costume was a labor of love. He was going as a witch—as their Dad had called it, the Witchiest Witch to ever Witch. He was just going to be handing out candy, but Virgil was going all out. Virgil had hand-sewn—hand-sewn—a cape, hat, and shirt for the costume, decorated a broom that he got from a second-hand store and artfully arranged the bristles, and gotten help from their Pa to put together a smoking cauldron for him to hand out candy from.

Roman was honestly impressed. (Not that he’d ever tell Virgil that. He’d never hear the end of it.)

Roman looked through the rest of the candy, not seeing any more that he could get away with stealing based on their sub-standard quality. He sighed, took one last handful—payment for his services, obviously—and got up to return the candy to the kitchen.

A loud knocking on the door scared Roman out of his skin. He may or may not have shrieked. A little bit.

“Roman!” a voice called through the door.

Roman winced, set down the large bowl of candy, and approached his door.

“I didn’t take that much—” he excused as he opened the door, only to break off as he was met with his terrified brother Virgil. He was already dressed in his witch outfit. As soon as he saw Roman, he started talking in a voice much faster and about an octave higher than usual.

“Roman, I don’t know what to do, it just broke and I don’t have time to—”

“Wait wait wait wait,” Roman said, reeling back. This wasn’t about him stealing the candy. “Calm down, Wicked Witch of the Pest. What do you mean, it broke?”

“My broom!” Virgil cried. “I was getting it out of my closet and I must have bumped something because everything just fell….” He pulled the broom into view. It was snapped, the two pieces ending in jagged splinters, and the bristles he’d spent so long getting just right were all bent to one side.

“Oh,” Roman said, staring at it in surprise. “Can you just… not have a broom?”

Virgil stared at him as if he’d just suggested cancelling Halloween altogether.

“So, that’s a no…?”

“Help me,” Virgil begged. “Pa’s not home, and I don’t know what to do, and you know Dad….”

Virgil had a point there. Their Dad would probably just make it worse, even though he always meant well. And, Virgil would owe him one…. Roman sighed, then opened his door wider.

“Alright, enter my workshop. Let’s see what we can do.”

Together, with the aid of Roman’s art supplies and eye for detail, they were able to mend Virgil’s broom. They managed to hide the breaks with paint, glue, and a bit of modelling clay, and the bristles were bent back into place. A few of them had snapped, but a little bit of glue, tape, and carefully matched paint hid that, too. Of course, the broom wasn’t quite like before, but a stranger would never know it had ever been broken.

Roman was quite pleased with how it turned out. And, probably more importantly, so was Virgil. He didn’t even tell their dads that Roman had stolen about a fifth of the Halloween candy.

That night, as he handed out candy to eager trick-or-treaters, Virgil was the witchiest witch to ever witch.

Because I’m looking for a fic by a specific person who I know has used this in the past to create a taglist, but I don’t know how to retroactively find them since I’ve forgotten the name of their fic. They made a WTNV/Sanders Sides crossover? If you know who made that fic or where I could look at “crossovers” that would be really helpful, thanks!

That would be helpful, but no, we're not currently set up for that sort of thing. I suppose we could post asks like this one, though, to crowd-source finding the fics, and so there’s a chance the author will see the ask and claim it.
