I've always been fairly bad at approaching SPECIFIC AU asks which is why I always ask "Hey how about you ramble about x, y and z" but perhaps this is going to be something BROAD to ask but I'm a bit curious to know MORE about Sketchbook? Is there things you've ever associated him with? (The spirals got me in a clutch okay. But if there's more to know about THAT YOU'D BE WILLING TO SHARE I'm all ears)

If this is too weird just ignore it? Honestly I'm again BAD AT approaching things with others AUs also out of fear of mischaracterizing because I realize that not everyone is actively posting crazy amounts of information like I do HEP

i think ive brought up how i deeply azzociate HV! Sketchbook with bunniez . but i still REALLY wanna touch up on that !!

not only are bunniez cute . but therez quite a bit of perzonal hiztory behind thiz idea ; Someone i really cared about owned a bunny and alzo loved Sketchbook . so maybe thatz something that drew me in [?]

but bunniez are alzo symbolz of the life cycle . of rebirth ; perzonally . i thought itz fitting with how Tony found so many attributez of Chesterz within paper

on top of that . i alzo azzociate Sketch with dandelionz !!

dandelionz symbolize the overcoming of hardshipz . happinezz — both of theze thingz really rezonate with their character . given everything theyve been through and where they currently are in life

and i alzo wanna say that my azzociation of the color red comez from the fact it haz a lot of pozitive AND negative connotationz ; it symbolizez love . but alzo blood — which again tiez in with the grief narrative in Tonyz story

i suppoze thatz about it ; itz quite bazic but theze are some thingz i REALLY wanted to touch up on eventually — i juzt never had the opportunity to do so in a way that felt actually satizfying

DOING SKETCHES FOR DR. GEARS' MEDICAL FUND

Hello fellow SCPeople! I am Rura, pleased to see you all!

As you may know, Dr. Gears from the SCP Wiki, who has been communally dubbed the father of the wiki, is in the hospital for Stage 2 Kidney Cancer. There is a fundraiser going on at the current moment, and they have reached their first goal (1000 dollars) within the first hour.

But! The fundraiser is still going, and to incentivise more people to go and donate as I don't have the money to do that myself, I have decided to make sketches for everyone that has donated 10 dollars or more!

But Rura, you may ask, how do I get these sketches? Well first off, you go donate at this handy-dandy link here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/repair-a-broken-gear and donate! After that's done, screenshot your name and amount on the screen, and send it via DMs to me along with what you would like to be sketched! For example, "(screenshot) I would like a sketch of Dr. Clef doing the samba" and I will do it. I am limiting these sketches to the SCPs and SCP Doctors though, as to not spend too much time looking at references for cross-fandom characters.

(That means your doctorsona is totally okay to ask for, however.)

Alice episode 8: What the fuck am I watching? The episode starts off really weirdly, with a family of people we don't know and don't have any reason to care about bitching about schools or some shit. The girl awakens an Alice power thing, but then we immediately cut to... the girl turned into a guy? No, it's a girl, but it's also some other family we don't know or care about, with similarly generic black hair and eyes and faces. The girl's power use quickly becomes (apparently deliberately, admittedly) unsettling, looking like a combination between brainwashing and some sort of zombie-ificator, not helped by her Alice Gate literally sneaking around behind her back the first few times she uses it (why did it work like that those first few times? who knows.) Boy sure would be nice to have a research lab to find out how to stop this!... And... that's how we spend the entire first fucking half of the episode. No context, no idea where this is going aside from establishing some character for the sake of it. We're given no indication when this takes place, either- I thought it would turn into backstory for one of the now-adult villains, but it turns out to have taken place exactly in the present day as the two girls conventiently wander into our main plot.

Also, pigtails, who was so upset about having turned her family life into a lie, has become some kind of a bitch who turns entire towns frozen, bosses them around and then leaves them like that because she wanted some crepes. Seriously, if she permanently ruined her parents by using spells on them, why the fuck would she keep using it? And has she really not tried just commanding people she's bewitched to go back to normal? That seems like something maybe she should try. The plot escalates to stupid really fast, with Sana just throwing a goddamn tantrum at them, except their powers keep not working for some reason, but we speed right over that in favor of pigtails ONLY NOW angsting about turning Sana's family into zombies- i-i-isn't that EXACTLY WHAT LED HER TO LEAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE? That she zombie'd her parents?? Why is she only realizing what a shit she's being now? What the fuck?

And then the episode just... fucking... ends. Nothing happened. No one except Sana and two nobodies mattered, even the twins got shitcanned (did they not even notice Sana showed up and summoned a fucking Santa what the fuck)

What the fuck am I watching?

Alice, episode 9: Girl bitches about her magic making her hungry and fails to consider oh I don't know maybe not using her magic so often ????? This would almost be a good story if the show was actually about pigtails, but as a derailment of the main plot it just feels like a great waste of time in addition to not allowing this story to get the depth and attention it probably needs. Never half two asses when you can whole one ass. I think we're supposed to be expecting the two organizations to come gunning for her, but we haven't seen either of them doing anything, at all. ... Or maybe, given Sana's reaction, it's supposed to be about not slapping the label "evil!!" on someone or something we don't know about or understand- heyyyy, wait a minute

- Twins going on about Sana not taking baths is probably meant to imply she just cleaned herself with magic before, but without saying that it just sounds like she used to be a filthy slob lol - why are the lights all off in the girl's house

and then wtf happns

- just throw a bunch of grinning cats and rabbits at the screen, that's how you do an alice referenfe "Why do I have this weird feeling??" That's called cognitive dissonance, kid Boygirl's answer to "why do you like an evil person?" isn't "she's not evil, she's just having a bad time and that's why I came to you" but "lolidk" you fucking idiot you could have solved all this with one line

I'm amazed at how the good guy agents were so easily bamboozled by someone with the exact sort of powers they're supposed to know how to deal with. Are we sure we can trust them with the Alice kids? At least the bad guys knew how to keep their shit under control. Also, they knew about her friend, but didn't bother geing after her... at least not before Sana found her, somehow. Just... somehow.

Also, through all of this arguing and yelling "evil!" and "frazzled!!" and getting absolutely nowhere, no one has done anything that they set out to do. Friend character hasn't gotten Sana to help pigtails or even asked, and Sana hasn't even punished the two of them. She just keeps yelling at them and doing... absolutely nothing.

Oh and by the way, remember back when I said Sketchboy wasn't going to get much focus, and that would make me sad? I was kidding. I really wasn't expecting him to have LITERALLY NO APPEARANCES AFTER THE RESEARCH LAB ARC ENDED. Where the fuck did he go? ... He doesn't even have a last name. What the fuck. You've failed me, Alice to Zoroku, harder than I even expected.

Suka Suka was a light novel, wasn't it? I can somehow just... smell it in the writing. The needless "clever" convolutions like with Cthloli explaining the girls were weapons, main guy's secret coin-shooting pointless thing, trollo apparently being unable to just say "we have two other fairy warriors that're just coming back now"... It's so fucking pretentious. Stahp

You know what this show is lacking in? Consequences. Take Madoka Magica, godmother of all the recent cute-grils-suffering anime and manga that've been coming out lately. You could say that each "reveal" was an asspull, and you might even have a case, but not only was each new bit of suffering-fodder part of a system that was slowly being revealed, it had consequences. Every reveal left a trail of destruction in its wake, and left the remaining characters shaken to their cores. Suka... not so much. To start with the only character anything meaningful even happens to (aside from the green-haired mini loli who hasn't been put in any danger since being "awakened" anyway) is Cthuloli, who we all know can't suffer any major consequences because she's main gril. So it's just this one girl out of all the ones who're supposed to be suffering or in danger or whatever being dragged through one random unrelated crisis after another, coming out of it pretty much fine except maybe oh no a lock of her hair changed color, that definitely matters for some reason, while no one else fucking does anything. Fucking hell

anyway. What the fuck technology level is this show running on, with hypodermic needles and test tubes - she's no longer a sword fairy, but everyone else remains fucked. or the solution is to make all the sword faeries useless normies so they can live their precious normal lives, they're saved, oh and noone can fight the beasties so now everyone's fucked ha ha - more animal people soldiers getting killed the fuck up by a beastie. whatever man, it's fine man

Meanwhile, Alice. 5th episode was... kinda boring. Weak, maybe? Ep 6 was probably a better example of Sana adjusting to normal life while dealing with her powers. ... Aside from the apparent asspull of her having power problems. I'm pretty sure we hadn't heard about that before. Also, chalk one up for the bad guys having the right idea, keeping this locked up where it couldn't kill a bunch of people. Hey, could we maybe like get back to the baddies and their experiments and actually establish them as villains? What was that experiment they did that Sana was all traumatised over? Sure was lucky meido sue was around to save everyone from death by giant rocks, using her full meido form that she's so adverse to using HEY WAIT A MINUTE- - just dump them bland dark backstory all over us mang mmmmmmm The thing about the twins not being able to tell themselves apart is... weird. Is it that they can't remember which one of them has the role and personality of the older/younger sister? Because showing their mirror gates wouldn't help with that... actually, how would they forget which of them had which gate? This makes no sense.

You know what maybe woulda helped with the power-error thing? Show a bit of the car factory to set things up, and then have her random garbage creations be based on the machinery she saw there. Now just have meido sue say "we thought this would happen" instead of it apparently being a thing that was happening before we never saw or whatever, and you can pull it out of nowhere with less asspullity because it's still kind of set up. Maybe. But also, this would set up a dilemma. Back at the facility, Sana knew nothing and made bizarre creations that wouldn't survive outside her little bubble. But now that she's learning things about the outside world, it comes with the danger of... this, her creating things that can continue to exist and possibly pose a threat to innocent bystanders. So now you have a moral argument as well as an argument about what to do. Have someone suggest her powers "leaking" is just due to her being overwhelmed, and things should be taken slower; have someone want the whole thing to just barrel forward with no considerations because meido sue can totally just fix anything that goes wrong (that is, the "magically harmless" mindset I complained about earlier); and then you have the bad guys saying they were right all along and the only way to keep everyone safe is to keep the girl locked up and stupid forever... or at least until they can understand and contain her powers. Do you march onwards with a fantasy notion that everything's gonna work itself out, or is some cruelty necessary to solve this? Or is there another solution?

Incidentally I can't help but feel sketchboi is gonna be neglected in all this, and that makes me sad.
