#ask#non mdzs#My health journey has been: Hernia -> acid reflux -> Vocal pain due to aforementioned reflux -> chest infection.#I'm terrified to know what's about to hit me next. Please let it be something kind. PLEASE.#The consequence of living with linguists is that you'll wake up with a wacked up voice -#suddenly you're sitting you down in front of a program called something like Praat having your shimmer and jitter levels calibrated.#They gave me a GRBAS of 33012. I have a fun thing called a pitch break where a whole octave just does not exist.#My vocal pain was bad enough I ended up seeing a speech pathologist and that whole experience was super neat!#I learnt a lot about voice - to be honest I might make a little comic on it after some more research. Fascinating stuff.#For example; your mental perception of our voice modulates the muscles of the vocal folds and larynx.#meaning that when you do have changes (inflammation = more mass = lower frequency)#your brain automatically attempts to correct it to what it 'should sound like'. Leading to a lot more vocal strain and damage!#And it gets really interesting for trans voice care as well - because the mental perception of one's voice isn't based on an existing sampl#So a good chunk of trans voice training is also done with the idea of finding one's voice and retraining the brain to accept it. Neat!#Parkinsonial Voice also has this perception to musculature link! The perception is that they are talking at a loud/normal volume#but the actual voice is quite breathy and weak. So vocal training works on practicing putting more effort into the voice#and retraining the brain to accept the 'loud' voice as 'normal'.#Isn't the human body fascinating?#Anyhow; Now I have vocal exercises and strategies to reduce strain and promote healing.#Which is a lot better than my previous strategy of yelling AAAH in my car until my 'voice smoothed out'.#You can imagine the horror on the speech path's face. I am an informed creature now.#I'm my own little lab rat now. I love learning and researching. Welcome to my tag lab. Some more Lucanis rambling:
Thinking about how Lucanis made a deal with Spite. How he is the only 'success' of Zara's.
We only ever hear about this deal from Spite, when he is in full control in the pantry. I think this is another point of resentment for Lucanis towards Spite.
Because in my headcanon of events during their imprisonment, this deal became a way to cope. They are both unwilling, but they aren't like water and oil. I think the reason these two were able to endure is because Lucanis would likely naturally draw a spirit of determination from his personality, and that fact meant their natures were not so disparate as others undergoing these experiments.
A deal meant they were able to align even more, which made it easier to handle whatever torture was thrown at them.
Escaping and living was the only hope Lucanis had. Even if it was near-impossible.
And when he is able to do that thanks to Rook and co. the deal with Spite becomes something shameful.
Now he has to deal with existing as an abomination and what it might mean, but also that he opened himself up to Spite, willingly.
Of course, he doesn't want anyone to know that and admitting that would be admitting that he's actually not so different from Spite, or at least has some of those qualities.
So, he tries to bury Spite as deep as he can. Not give up control. And Spite is trapped in the mental prison of the Ossuary, and their deal isn't fulfilled. Overtime this causes more problems leading to Spite sleepwalking more and eventually Spite finally talk to Rook and Inner Demons. (See: my other post about Spite actually wanting to help Lucanis)
If you save Treviso he is willing to open himself up again, to Rook and to Spite and have more harmony. If you don't save Treviso he instead tries to distance himself further and tries to remove Spite whatever that might mean.
I also don't know if the dialogue is unique to romanced Lucanis or not but I think it's telling that at the very moments before the final mission, Lucanis has a conversation with Rook where Rook points out he sounds like Spite and Lucanis accepts that with no qualms.
Anyways I'm sleep deprived and I think they're neat.

Thinking of Tommy not with a cat… but a kitten… I mean a tiny, could fit comfortably in the palm of his hand with plenty of leg space, probably wasn’t even old enough to be away from her mother but he found her outside by some trash cans and he couldn’t just abandon her, little bby kitten. And she immediately adopts this big hulk of a man as her new mother and when Tommy shows up at Bucks with her in the hood of his pull over (because that’s where she keeps crawling up to and getting inside and he has actually — honest to god — put on backwards so she can sleep in her little makeshift cocoon, but against his chest so he can drive without fear of crushing her) Buck has to fight the urge to just wither away from the adorableness of it.

but then again, with Vessel acknowledging that Sleep has changed him, acknowledging that he still carries parts of Him. it would be mutual, wouldn't it. Sleep would have been changed by Vessel, too. i think it would be, at least - i've talked about my take on Sleep's nature and its relationship with Vessel from the beginning in this post, and that kind of thing would lead to consequences. a 'god' using a human as a vessel, feeling the full spectrum of human emotions through him, getting a taste for something previously beyond it and craving it constantly, emptier without it... a being previously amorphous, now tainted by its attachment, subconsciously trying to replicate what it cannot have. looking down with eyes it didn't innately have before and seeing arms too solid, too clearly defined, borderline fleshy - arms that it's familiar with but that don't belong directly on it. and it cannot make them go away, no matter how hard it tries. forever marred by human impurities.

I understand the sentiment in saying you want Rosh to publish tpq scenes from Aiden’s pov, but that’s not going to happen because the series is not about him, nor his romance with Aru. The series revolves the relationship between the five (technically six) sisters, and the bond they form throughout the books. The romance is present, but it is not the main focus, which is why we do not get scenes from his or Rudy’s pov. But we DO get scenes from Mini, Brynne, Kara’s pov because at its core, the story is about the girls, and that theme was established in the first book.
I understand why Aiden pov scenes would be enjoyed (and if they were released I would eat them up) but at the end of the day, the series is not a romance series and therefore we do not get scenes like the sacrifice and the love confession from Aiden’s pov in the book, even if the perspective does switch to other characters at times. It would be very fun if it did happen, but unfortunately I don’t think Roshani has anything like that in store for us
