The Lift
Rating: Explicit No Archive Warnings Apply Beelzebub/Gabriel pairing 31,742 words (complete)
Someone has moved into the same building as Bee and has made it his mission to annoy them at the lift as often as possible.
Surely it's only there they'll have to see Gabriel, a professor teaching nearby, but when they come in for a check-up, Bee realizes it might be more than an annoying one-off outside their flat. And he might be charming. And they might want to kiss him.
They didn't sign up for this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their schedules were not incompatible. That was the worst. They thought surely, they were on different times, but they rode the lift just about the same time every day. He was nice about it, too. He always gave a little nod, a little “Hello, Dr. Prince,” or “Going up, Prince?” There was no other solution. They’d answer with a sneer or, if they arrived at the lift first, leaning against it while pushing the closed-door button and, with a smile, announced, “Next time, Stalker.”
They also enjoyed the same coffee shop. Of course they did, it was an excellent café, it was within walking distance, but damn him for liking the place too.
“I was here first,” Bee said on a grey Tuesday morning when, by some horrible miracle, they were walking next to each other. Gabriel at first tried to stay ahead, given his slightly longer gait, but he got it in his head that that was impolite, and he might as well walk with them.
“And your name’s on the building?” Gabriel asked without breaking stride. He was getting more comfortable with them. They’d have to bite him. “Hey, I’m just getting my macchiato and then I’m off to campus.”
Bee clicked their tongue. They knew for a fact that it wasn’t a macchiato. That he took two pumps espresso, lemon, milk foam, with a sprinkling of cinnamon because he had heard him rattle off the order with precise diction and a tick of his hand for each ingredient for a week and a half. Who was stalking whom?

I was thinking over the way Pavlova describes Wildberry's crush. he says (direct quote), "you know well that it won't work out, but you have no intention of giving up!" in their interaction in the kingdom, he also calls it a "foolish" type of love
and I was like. what does that imply about Wildberry's crush?? and how would it apply to Crunchy Chip??
"foolish" implies a lack of good sense or judgment. it's a crush that can only end negatively—heartbreak, fighting, strain, or some other horrible result. Wildberry could either keep his feelings to himself, being unhappy with his own cowardice. he could also confess and get rejected, therefore losing whatever bond he had with his crush in the first place. but he could also be accepted and enter a relationship, but then the worries he has could be true. it could not work out, just like he knows it won't, and it would be unfair to both of them. every possible end result (to someone who is convinced it will not work out) would demonstrate the foolishness of the crush he has. Wildberry strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn't get crushes often, and he deals with them on his own before he chooses to confess, if ever
I'm imagining him in his own head about it, which is why no one else seems to know; it could also be why he doesn't externally react to it when the others are around but pretty much concedes to his worries over it (and openly seems. I guess worried about them!!) when he's talking one-on-one with Pavlova. he has gone over these possibilities to himself without any external input. he is trying to figure out how to make it work, which is the "no intention of giving up" that Pavlova mentioned, but maybe he doesn't have a set answer yet, which is why it's still something he hasn't confessed. Pavlova only knows because it's what he does
I was thinking about why it "not working out" (very generally speaking) is something he would think about, and I wondered what kind of relationship he would want. in an overworld dialogue, Royal Margarine tells him he must be "popular with a tall, muscular build like that." whether it's true is unknown, but Wildberry says he doesn't care about such "trivialities," assumedly being popular. if he doesn't want popularity, maybe he wants something simple?? or steady?? or maybe even straightforward. it's hard to know for sure. he wants something that's actually possible for him and his lifestyle in the kingdom. he's a busy guy who often travels away for important and dangerous business. it would be difficult to be in any kind of steady relationship when that's what you do for work. long distance isn't for everyone
to him, he cannot be with Crunchy Chip because of their duties to their kingdoms. I think it circles back to that. Crunchy Chip is the captain of the cream wolves in the Dark Cacao Kingdom, and he is close enough to the king to travel with him to Beast Yeast. he protects the kingdom every day, as well as the woods surrounding it. Wildberry is a hired bodyguard to the Queen Mother, and he has sworn loyalty to her (and the king and queen of course); he frequently travels for work and is likely gone for long stretches of time, depending. they both have very important jobs that neither wants to give up. during Cookie Odyssey, they each talk about their love for their kingdoms and their respective leaders, even making a bet about who will want to visit the other more. they exchange letters on the regular. Hollyberry herself has noticed how much closer they're getting. he knows how much Crunchy Chip values his position in the Dark Cacaco Kingdom, and he values his own position in the Hollyberry Kingdom. they don't want to leave. they cannot leave. not now, maybe not for a long time. maybe not ever, in a horrible reality
it's foolish in every way fathomable. to Wildberry, at least

Given how common it is for book posts that say "just give me the book blurb! stop with all the other things!" to get tens of thousands of notes, I feel the need to say, as a tiny micro-publisher: if only sharing the book blurb sold books, trust me, we wouldn't be wasting our time with all the other shenanigans.
But just sharing the blurb doesn't work. Most people scroll right by.
And so we try every single method we can think of, including sharing the blurb among them, to try to get whatever eyes we can on the book.
Of course the description of the story is the best way to sell the book and get people interested, but it only works if y'all actually read it. And getting most people to the point where they'll read anything that isn't already immediately and actively part of their existing interests is fucking hard, so we use splashy graphics and short hand to try to hook people, and then hope that when they read the blurb, that hook will go from "oh, that's worth a glance" to "oh, that's worth a buy."
Also: just because the exact post you saw promoting a book didn't include the blurb doesn't mean other posts about the book don't!
Sorry. I just have seen so much of that recently (and not just because of that poll about "what convinces you to buy," I actually found that whole poll extremely interesting and informative) that I'm kinda losing patience with it.
Just posting the blurb doesn't work.
Signed, someone who sells books for a living, or at least tries to.

Secret Relationships Colors
There is a lot of black in this show since everyone is holding onto secrets, so when the posters for this show were initially released, I questioned why they were PowerPuff Girls' colors, but as the show's twists and turns have been revealed, it all started to make pefect sense.
Tumblr media
Blue - Seong Hyeon
Tumblr media
Seong Hyeon is a loyal and intelligent man which are key traits of a Blue Boy.
Tumblr media
The first time he rescued Daon, he was wearing blue, and he was brought to the team because he was a superstar in his previous department.
Tumblr media
He is honest about his feelings and constantly makes sure that Daon knows how he feels even if he isn't physically there.
Tumblr media
However, Blue Boys are prone to sadness as well, but they tend to bounce back with a little push from the right people.
Tumblr media
And what's strange is Su Hyeon could've been a Blue Boy too, especially because their romanized names look so similar.
Tumblr media
So just like Seong Hyeon, Su Hyeon could've been just as loyal to Daon in his blue.
Tumblr media
But there is always something lingering around him, something boiling underneath the surface, something festering just beneath his casual exterior.
Tumblr media
And when it's finally unleashed, it becomes a vicious monster.
Tumblr media
Green - Su Hyeon
Tumblr media
Green Guys, when at their best, are chill and peaceful, but at their worst, they are easily prone to jealously, they are envious, and they are rotten to the core.
Tumblr media
Su Hyeon can act the part of a chill guy, but the moment he is provoked, the beast inside comes out just like when he was at the dinner and saw the man who assaulted Daon.
Tumblr media
Or like when he dragged Daon inside his apartment and told him to never look at Seong Hyeon like that again.
Tumblr media
And although I believed Su Hyeon didn't turn green until the night of the assault when he used the green bottle to attack the man in the green room, it actually started before then.
Tumblr media
The gift Daon got Su Hyeon was green, so he must have known some small aspect of Su Hyeon's true color, right?
Tumblr media
And he also had Su Hyeon in his phone under a green-colored contact card.
Tumblr media
Which is ironic since Su Hyeon also has someone in his phone who lights up his screen in a decaying green color.
Tumblr media
After all, he learned how to turn into a green monster from his father.
Tumblr media
But the real monster in this story is the sneaky devil Su Hyeon made a deal with all those years ago.
Tumblr media
Pink - Jaemin
Tumblr media
Pink People are normally compassionate and friendly, but when they don't get their way, they can become overemotional and childish.
Tumblr media
Much like Su Hyeon, Jaemin hides his true color well, but it's always been there, slowly suffocating him around his neck every time he felt his grip on Daon slipping.
Tumblr media
And just like Su Hyeon, Daon was aware in some small way of Jaemin's true color because not only did Jaemin offer him pink coffee cups when they met in the first episode and pink plates to eat off of at his apartment, but just like Su Hyeon, Daon wanted to gift Jaemin the perfect color-coded gift.
Tumblr media
The worst part of all of this is Jaemin really does love Daon, but pink is simply a tint of red, and we all know what Red Rascals are capable of when they lose control.
Tumblr media
And perhaps Jaemin knows he has already lost because no matter how tight-lipped Daon may be, he always gives away who has his heart through his color, and I'm not referring to the color-coded gifts.
Tumblr media
Daon
Tumblr media
Daon wore a green jacket when he liked Su Hyeon, and Su Hyeon now wants to give him his ring. Daon has lived in an apartment with a pink exterior since he has become closer to Jaemin over the past seven years, and Jaemin gives him a scarf to wear. But now there is a new (blue) boy in town who wipes Daon's face with a blue cloth and reminds Daon of himself.
Tumblr media
And not only did that Blue Boy color-coordinate outfits with Daon for work, but he came prepared to love Daon.
Tumblr media
In all the exact ways he needs.
Tumblr media
So let's see if Daon gives his Blue Boy the perfect color-coded gift or will this love allow Daon to finally embrace his own color instead of conforming to what everyone else wants (which I think is yellow since Jaemin has a yellow pillow, Daon was lit by yellow when Su Hyeon rescued him, and he has warm lighting when wearing blue plus countless other instances!).
But either way, I'll be delighted.

Hey guys!
So, I don't tend to make posts on here, but this is something I was made aware of recently, but haven't seen anything about it on Tumblr, so I figured I would make a post to try and raise awareness and see if something can be done. Especially since it's kind of a niche topic.
So... what's going on, I virtually hear you ask? Well...
The artist Stuart Semple has been sued.
Now... who is Stuart Semple, and why is this important?
If you're chronically on Tumblr and have been here for over a decade (like myself), you may remember Stuart Semple as the artist who had a beef with another artist named Amish Kapoor, who had trademarked the world's "blackest black," called Vantablack, and was being kind of a dick about it. (Scroll down that post a bunch to see the information about the beef. This is how I learned about the beef years ago, so I felt it was important to add.)
Semple believes that art should be accessible to everyone, and that no one should gatekeep art. As such, he went on a mission to create an even blacker black, and make it accessible to everyone. Which, by the by, he has done! Multiple times over! He's also legally changed his name to Amish Kapoor, but that is neither here nor there.
Awesome! Now y'all know all this information about Amish Kapoor (formerly known as Stuart Semple, though this post will still be using his former (?) name to avoid confusion) and his beef with Amish Kapoor (asshole gatekeeping artist)! Super!
Now, forget all about that. Because this is actually about a different artist, one known by the name Yves Klein. Or, perhaps more accurately... his estate.
The lawsuit.
So, in addition to having beef with Amish Kapoor, Semple also endeavors to make art accessible for everyone by making other patented colors available to the general public. This includes the color of blue patented by the late artist Yves Klein.
To make it clear, Semple's color of blue is chemically different to Klein's color of blue. Even Klein's estate has acknowledged this. That's not what the lawsuit is about.
So... what is the lawsuit about?
The fact that Semple used the name Klein on the packaging, and that he painted his hand blue.
That's it. That's all. Not the fact it's the same color, not the fact that it's infringing on the patent, or whatever. No. Klein's estate claims that they own the trademark for... the name "Klein." Never mind the fact that there is a VERY WELL KNOWN fashion company that uses the name Klein in it that Semple has acknowledged was the inspiration for the design of the packaging for the paint. *COUGH COUGH, CALVIN KLEIN, COUGH COUGH.*
The worst part about all of this? Semple wasn't even allowed to defend himself in court. Klein's estate (which I believe is managed by his son) sued him in secret in a Paris court without his knowledge, and he wasn't even allowed the ability to defend himself. He was just given the order to pay the money, with no chance to defend himself at all. Yes, he's able to appeal the lawsuit, but that costs both time and money.
Why is this important?
Well, I suppose that's up to you, really. But to me, it's really the principle of the matter. Semple has dedicated his life to making art accessible to the public, and as an artist myself, I respect this desire. And the fact he was sued without his knowledge, without the ability to even defend himself?
Well. It rankles me, to be frank.
Art should be accessible to everyone. Period. No person should gatekeep art, and to sue an artist trying to make art accessible, over a fricken common last name? Especially without allowing them to defend themself? ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PERSON SUING ISN'T EVEN THE ARTIST THEMSELF, BUT THEIR GREEDY ESTATE?
It's absolutely ridiculous, and I think something about be done, if possible. At least it should be known about, since the only reason I know is because I'm on Semple's company's mailing list, which I know not everyone is.
What can you do about this?
A decent amount, really!
The smallest thing to do is to share this post, if you can, to raise awareness. It's a very niche topic that I've not really heard about other than through the aforementioned mailing list, and I think raising awareness will at least help, if nothing else. The more people who know, the better.
The next thing you can do is donate to Semple's GoFundMe for his legal expenses. He needs to raise ÂŁ60,000, and as of this post (May 16th, 2025) he has only raised ÂŁ9,410, less than 20% of what he needs. This way, he can at least try to fight this outrageous suit.
Another thing you can do is sign this petition created by a supporter of Semple's, which is calling to suspend all of Yves Klein's exhibitions until his estate stops suing living artists. I'm not entirely sure how much this will help, but Semple himself shared it in another of his emails, so it's an option, at least.
Also, you could, if you're obscenely rich, purchase one of these paintings, but since they're like... almost 30 grand each, I don't think that's an option for the average Tumblr user, aha. You could also buy one of these t-shirts, which are still a bit pricey at $41 USD, but the proceeds directly go towards his legal proceedings.
Finally, he does have his company, Culture Hustle, which has a lot of cool art paints and pigments for the average artist, if you're so inclined, including the infamous blue paint that sparked this whole debacle. Supporting him here will help overall, and you can get some super cool, highly pigmented paint or raw pigment itself, if that's your jam. Personally, I like the pigments for my resin art. Really, I suggest looking around the site, it has a ton of super cool paints and pigments that I wish I was able to afford all of.
In conclusion.
Like every good essay, here's my final thoughts on all of this. Personally, I think it's bullshit that this is happening. I don't know Stuart Semple personally, and for all I know he's actually a terrible person who tortures puppies in his free time, who knows. I mean, I highly, HIGHLY doubt it, but anything's possible, and on Tumblr I know there are always people who love to "um, actually" literally everything.
But that's not the point.
The point is that this sets a precedent for the decedents of great artists (not even the artists themselves!) to sue living artists for bullshit reasons that have nothing to do with anything meaningful. It allows them to sue an artist who has dedicated his life to making art accessible, not allow him the right to defend himself, and think that the name of their great relative means they can bully any and everyone. If they're going to sue Semple over something simple as using a common last name on his paint, and painting his hand blue, what else would they secretly sue over, hoping their target is unable to afford the hefty international legal fees needed to counter their ridiculous claims?
It's the principle of the matter to me, more so than Semple himself. Don't get me wrong, I do like Semple from what I've seen (barring any unknown to me puppy torture that I'm sure some random Tumblr user will be all too willing to harass me over for somehow not knowing...), but I'm more affronted by the principle and the precedent this allows. As an artist myself, I despise the idea that something simple like trying to make art accessible is being attacked.
Because, let's be clear.
The Klein estate doesn't care about Semple using the name Klein or that he painted his hand blue. I'm sure they know that it's a ridiculous argument and they don't care about it whatsoever. What they want to stop is Semple selling his blue paint, which they can't touch since it's chemically different from their late relative's patented color. This is emphasized by the fact that they tried to have the judge seize and destroy every bottle of the paint created, which the judge thankfully denied.
Please. If you care about art being accessible, and about preventing greedy relatives of great artists from throwing their weight around for no reason other than they can... please share this post. Let the world know what Klein's estate is doing.
(Oh, and if you want something that Semple has done that is arguably great, other than trying to make art accessible, he helped with a campaign to protest the fact that gay men are not allowed to donate blood in the US. He took blood from gay men and created ink from it, which he then sold in various mediums, to show that it's not this scary, dangerous thing that the FDA makes it out to be. Which I personally think is pretty neat.)
UPDATE: Here's a link to another Tumblr post I made with the screenshots to the original email Semple's company, Culture Hustle, sent out. So y'all can see my source for the lawsuit information.
