I totally thought Frankelda was going to trap “us” in the Spider Dude’s house while she and Herneval escaped in the last episode.

Steve finally agrees to play DnD to appease Dustin's incessant begging, but mostly to spend more time with Eddie, who he's got a massive crush on.

Cue Steve rolling a Nat 20 when trying to persuade an inn keeper to let a band of fugitives stay the night for free.

He sees it for the opportunity it is and cranks up the full Steve Harrington charm, laying it on as thick as he can.

Eddie, face on fire but unable to tear his eyes away from Steve literally smoldering at him, spills pop all over his DM notes and has to cancel the rest of the session for reasons...

... to go home and fix his notes, of course. Definitely not to go make out in Steve's car.

I think this is one of my favorite lines from the Wraith route because of (imo) how much the meaning changes depending on if you got there via Spectre or Nightmare. For Spectre, it honestly strikes me as a genuine question. Why are you doing this to her? If you're on the Spectre route, you presumably already know the Narrator can't really be trusted, since you had to reject his reward to get here. What are you hoping to gain from continuing to hurt her? For Nightmare, it honestly just makes me sad. As the Shifting Mound describes her, "She desires only companionship, but the only thing she knows is how to hurt." This line feels like a plea from someone who genuinely doesn't understand why you keep rejecting her. She wants to be with you, but she just can't understand how to do that in a way which doesn't hurt you.

#at the risk of getting put on a list there is something tragic & relatable in nightmare #someone who desperately wants to make connections but just can't understand how #anyway wraith is one of my favorite princesses for stuff like this (and bc tragedy aside her route is a riot)#also im sorry if she doesn't say that line if you got there via nightmare #that's how i got her and i could've sworn she did? But i only found footage of her saying it in spectre #slay the princess #stp #stp wraith #the wraith #stp spectre #stp nightmare #side note archetypal/heart #(slash so i don't accidentally tag them)#pointed out on another post of mine that you get wraith via nightmare by killing her and via spectre by leaving her in the basement #in both cases its a rejection of her (rejection being one of wraith's main themes)#which makes me speculate on spectre's ch 3 (which i think we currently have very little info on?)#Trying to run from Nightmare should technically be a 'rejection' as well #but you get MOC from that (and from choosing to stay with her)#imo bc you're just repeating the same inaction which got you into this situation in the first place #you don't want to slay her. you don't want to set her free. So you just leave her there (again)#and so you get MOC where things have only gotten worse and you have no choice left. Because you chose *not* to take action again #So I wonder if spectre 3 will be a similar 'repeating your past mistakes' type of deal #i was skeptical about it coming from stabbing yourself while she possesses you or trying to crush her bones #but it does make sense with that in mind #im curious if it'll parallel MOC #except instead of having no choice but to free the princess you have no choice but to obey the narrator again #maybe you both end up stuck in the cabin forever again?#idk #sorry i probably should've put all of that tag in the post lmao

I think the effects of leaving a fandom unsupervised for too long needs to be studied

#watching the svsss fandom explode with skincreatures again like a scientist in a lab #interesting... interesting.....#the fact that svsss made it so high onto the tumblr rankings this year despite getting absolutely no new content #makes me think it was all the fandom's doing #and therefore makes me think it can be blamed on the skincreatures #which is. so insane.#there is something truly special about the svsss fandom #which i think is a combination of factors #namely that the source material is the freaks and sickos book made for freaks and sickos (said with affection. im one of those sickos)#so the fandom is already primed for weird content #and then an absolute drought of new official content for several years means the fandom is left to its own devices #meaning people will make their own new content to be insane about #and for some reason. that is skincreatures.#i really can't help but wonder what people who aren't in the svsss fandom think whenever they see those things lol

y'know... for a setting that places so much importance in Language and does so many ice cool things playing with it (Correspondence/Discordance, Parabola & Irem, etc) i think there's a bit of a missed opportunity when it comes to the terms and words people use in their day to day life... like for example:

do you think radical revolutionaries would avoid words like "enlightening" in their vocabulary and flip them for LON-appropriate counterparts to signal their beliefs?

like substituting the word "light" with "blight". lol

similarly, pet names relating to light like "sunshine" kinda have a whole extra flavour tied to them, leaning into nostalgia, melancholy and/or danger depending on the people using it. irony, even

"honey" as a pet name also has extra connotations now and might actually bother some people instead due to the association with the drug...

do you think SMEN, taboo as it is, and seeking being a recognizable phenomenon even to the common londoner, would spawn swear words and insults? (imagine the weight of telling someone to Go Seek or Fall Down a Well)

the word "well" itself. well as an adverb, interjection, adjective. just. think about it. think about what it represents. idk something is happening to this word for sure

recurring minor characters not being in s2 of the show does mean that TLO is absolutely doomed now if they ever do get to it, because the weight and impact of characters like Silena and Beckendorf are entirely based on how long they've been around in the books and their longstanding connection to events in the story and particularly Percy (not to mention Beckendorf's importance in SoM specifically but i digress)

HOWEVER. on the bright side: this means they are spared from being in the show for now. so.

#pjo #pjo tv #riordanverse #charles beckendorf #silena beauregard #silena also not showing up until the end if theyre gonna keep her being the spy would also be terrible because like. theres no impact then.#this random character comes out of nowhere and is apparently Clarisse's bff and also the spy for the TA? that's out of left field #UNLESS we have already established Silena as this recurring extremely trusted character. she avoids conflict! she's a daughter of aphrodite #she loves her (eventually) boyfriend and she's so beloved she managed to become best friends with CLARISSE of all people!#AND she's close friends with Annabeth too!#you *need* to set that up as early as possible with her or else her role in the narrative falls completely flat #im kind of wondering if with how much they've been emphasizing Chris this early on they might merge Chris and Silena's characters #im thinking either they're gonna have Chris defect from the army way earlier on (SoM) for the whole ''teams racing'' thing #so its like Clarisse and Luke both racing to try and save Chris from the same situation Percy Annabeth and Tyson are saving Grover from #and that being an earlier version of Clarisse saving Chris from the labyrinth or something #or they combo Chris and Silena and have Chris stick around at CHB after Luke leaves for the TA #since the show already establishes Chris as like Luke's right-hand man in s1 since Chris is basically only shown alongside him #so having Chris stick around at CHB would inherently be suspicious and his dynamic with Luke would indicate he's the spy #and because he's dating Clarisse he can fill in those roles Silena fulfills as Clarisse's Patroclus #which implies he'd probably die to the drakon in TLO for Clarisse's rampage in a moment of redemption but given Chris like.#never shows up post-TLO anyways they would probably figure that's fine #im thinking thoughts
