Part 5 of my yearly wrap up : my 30 favorite ships that I shipped throughout the year

1. Percabeth (Percy and Annabeth from the PJO & HOO series by Rick Riordan) the first ship I ever shipped I want a love like theirs

2. Locklyle (Lucy and Lockwood from Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud) I love slow burn couples in book series where you see the characters evolve over the years and where the romance isn’t the main plot

3. Herongraystairs (Will Jem and Tessa from the the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare) always thinking about them in some way shape or form I want a love like theirs

All these ships are my Roman Empire btw they all share the top spot there’s no ranking

4. Pip and Ravi from AGGGTM by Holly Jackson - badass intelligent talented girl x supportive funny guy who loves her like it’s breathing trope you will always have my heart (funny that seems to be a consistent pattern with these ships lol)

5. Malec (Magnus and Alec from the Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare) yes I know they’re everyone’s favorite along with Herongraystairs I’m basic bla-bla-bla but have you considered that they’re popular bc they’re such a top tier ship? All the ships I mentioned are ships I could write an essay or multiple essays about just get me all the books they’re in so I can quote stuff and around ten to twenty hours and I’ll write an essay of 292749299171883902883 words about how much I love them

6. Pandalily (Pandora Lovegood and Lily Evans from the Marauders fandom loosely based off of the HP series) I’m writing a fic about them I have to put them in the top 10 even if I’ve been relatively inactive in the fandom and when it comes to actually writing my fic (sorry I’ve been busy with school and existential crises lately)

7. Wolfstar (Sirius Black and Remus Lupin from the Marauders fandom especially from the fic All The Young Dudes by MsKingBean89 because in that fic the angst and the slow burn are unparalleled)

8. Jegulus (James Potter and Regulus Black from the Marauders fandom, especially from the fics crimson rivers by bizarrestars, only the brave by solmussa and art heist baby! by otrtbs) not the biggest shipper bc i read too many fics of them in too short a time and got jegulus overexposure and needed to take a break from reading fanfics for a while but in those three fanfics especially crimson rivers and only the brave they’re incredible

9. Dorlene (Dorcas Meadowes and Marlene McKinnon from the Marauders fandom) I want to write a fic about them next. In my head they’re sooo imgonnagetyouback by Taylor Swift coded

10. Kanej (Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo) soulmates in my opinion but not in the “they were destined for each other” SJM way but in a “their souls fit together like pieces of a puzzle and everything falls into place perfectly because their love is just so cosmically powerful, they weren’t destined for each other but they loved each other so much from now on they will meet and love each other in every lifetime” kind of way if that makes sense (same goes for all the ships here especially Herongraystairs)

11. Herondaisy (otherwise known as James and Cordelia from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) the unrequited lining the angst they’re just so perfect

12. Kitty (Kit and Ty from The Dark Artifices and soon to be The Wicked Powers main couple by Cassandra Clare) I love angst and pining and an excruciatingly long slow burn so you know I love Kit and Ty

13. Nick and Charlie from Heartstopper by Alice Oseman - it seems like your typical teenage love story but it’s actually so much more than that at the same time, I want what they have

14. Everlark (Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins) a beautiful love story

15. Sizzy (Simon and Isabelle from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare) I love them so much

16. Firstprince (Alex and Henry from Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston) RWRB is perhaps one of my favorite romance books ever and I love the “exchanging love letters” trope

17. Helnik (Nina and Matthias from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo) I knew Matthias was going to die bc of spoilers from before I read SoC but it still hurt so much

18. Solangelo (Will and Nico from HoO, ToA and TSATS by Rick Riordan) the sun and the star wasn’t one of my favorite books of the year but I still love them

19. Ruegard (Clarisse and Silena from PJO by Rick Riordan) I joined TikTok this year and discovered they were shipped by a pretty big part of the PJO fandom and now I need to reread PJO.)

20. Eva and Celeste from It Goes Like This by Miel Moreland - I highly recommend this book it’s abt a queer sapphic band who get broken up and now they come back together to perform one last time. The main couple, Eva and Celeste have such a beautiful story I don’t want to spoil anything

21. Teo and Aurelio from The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas - they got together too soon in the second book in my (very very biased towards excruciating slow burns) opinion but I loved them in the first book

22. Kit and Theo from The Pairing by Casey McQuiston - the fact that we have two Kits and two Teo/Theos on this list but in different ships (also two Wills) is kinda funny. I really loved their story and I want a love that’s so profound but also so fun like theirs.

23. Thomastair (Thomas and Alastair from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) I love them so much

24. Ghostwriter (Lucy and Jesse from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) they’re a big part of why Chain of Iron is one of my favorite TSC books but also their relationship conflict in CoT about not being able to kiss for a weird illogical reason was just not believable

25. Gracestopher (Grace and Christopher from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) some people ship them but in a platonic way some people ship them in a romantic way I understand both sides and honestly as long as we got to see the two of them develop a close bond based on love and trust it doesn’t entirely matter. Unfortunately CoT broke my heart

26. Ineffable Husbands (Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens) I watched Good Omens at the end of 2023 and read Good Omens the book at the start of January 2024 I still think of them from time to time and I’m not really up to date on s3 news but apparently s3 is going to be much shorter 😢 again that thing I said about loving excruciating angst and pining

27. Rosekiller (Evan Rosier and Barty Crouch jr from the Marauders fandom specifically in the fic “I’m not going to teach him to dance with you” by greensenne (not 100% sure I haven’t messed up the name of the fic but 100% sure that’s what the fic author is called if ever you want to check it out. It’s a no Voldemort AU with lots of Speak Now by Taylor Swift vibes) they’re Wolfstar but evil/morally gray Slytherins depending on the fic basically)

28. Jurdan (Jude and Cardan from The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black)

29. Fierrochase (Alex and Magnus from Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan) I discovered the TSC fandom bc I kept reading Pinterest posts with “Magnus and Alec” in them and thinking huh I don’t remember that part of the story from Magnus Chase and also why is there consistently a typo in Alex’s name?? I love their dynamic so much I NEED to reread MCGA next year

30. Edwin and Charles from the Dead Boy Detectives TV show on Netflix (why does Netflix keep cancelling shows I love? I watched it and then right after Netflix cancelled it)

Izzy: Dear diary, so dating Simon has be intriguing, Jace and Clary got some love shit going on or something, I swear these dummies, I love but seriously?, I've been keeping busy, Mom has been busy too, and Dad is probably going to be inquisitor now, so he won't be back, heck of a time dad, heck of a time. Alec and Magnus are on their vacation and keep sending "Wish you were here, except not really" like bish I wish I was there but we don't always get what we wish for and you being sassy.

Simon is in the doghouse, and we broke up cause he was dating Maia while dating me, and I am disappointed in him, but me and Maia met up for coffee and talked about, I never realized what it could be like to have other women in your life, they just get you. Anyway I also saw Jace and Clary makeout in an alley and ya know never waste a perfectly good brick wall, I love my brother but I will never fully understand him at times. Also Clary kinda fought off a demon on her and it was badass, Jace's training has been paying off, but yeah also Clace made up again I think cause Jace went running after her a bit ago, I am calling them Clace now. Magnus and Alec are back or should I say Malec, anyway apparently the vampire chick and is Magnus' ex and I can see drama in the near future.

Being a Vampire is still hard, and I want to tell my mom but like how do you tell your mother you're a vampire? Oh and Camille offered me to work for her but like there's something off with her but I don't know what.

I have a roommate now, see I tried to tell my mom and she flipped out and I had to kinda like erase her memory. and I helped kidnap Camille and she ended up being Magnus' ex and like that's gotta start some drama and I don't want to be around for it. But also my roommate is apparently a werewolf, and Jace looks like he's dying, I took him to get some food and he got Mangoes and tomato soup, he ate them together, he is weird and I didn't realize how weird he was until now, he's also still running away from Clary and I wish they would just talk, but I mean Maia and Izzy found out and they both broke up with me, I deserve it tho, but also I am a hypocrite aren't I? But Jordan is cool, I still am upset he didn't tell me about any of it and is apparently my bodyguard or something, but maybe we can be friends.

I got kidnapped again, but by a 13 year old vampire who I bit and I felt horrible and she ended up getting killed and I hate myself but like she also got turned cause I bit her, I need to calm down. And Jace kinda got possessed by Lilith and kinda kidnapped Clary, and Clary's brother may have kinda been brought back, and I may have kinda defeated Lilith, oh and Jace and Clary made up again but Jace got kidnapped by Sebastian. Me and Izzy made up as well and idk what we are but yeh, Clary is upset and I wish I could help but Clace gets sad when they aren't together, it's sweet I guess, hopefully we find Jace soon.

Sebastian: Dear evil diary, I am back and here to cause chaos, I have kidnapped their precious Jacey boy and I do have plans for precious boy, I'll get Clary in good time, and I will cause so much chaos and destruction, I am going to bitch slap the Clave and they won't even see it coming, oh and Jace makes good eggs and he cleans, and does anything I ask ;) and it's so much fun to have him, father I have your sweet precious boy lol, I have plans, very evil plans but hey I am perfectly good at evil. Anyway I don't understand what else I am supposed to say.

Church: Dear cat diary, Jem please please save me, it's all gone to hell again, Herondale went through more love shit and got possessed by Lilith, LILITH!!!, and then he got kidnapped by his girlfriend's evil Brother, he is a fucking damsel in distress I swear, but he does talk to me. Clary used the Angel's wish to bring Jace back from the dead and I have a feeling the Clave ain't gonna be forgiving about that, they never are, the jerks, Clary will probably rebel though. Alec and Magnus were on vacation but came back and now there's more love drama, sigh. Simon decided playing with something he shouldn't be was a good idea, and him and Izzy broke up but I think they may be back together? Idk, all this love shit is confusing. Izzy is as usual Izzy, so fucking scary. Sebastian is a little shit and I see dark things in the future. Okay but let me raise the stakes here. What do you think about gentle dom Alec but also mafia boss Alec all in one? I think about it and I know Magnus would get weak x2

absolutely gorgeous. 5/5. 

i’m kinda weak for mafia boss alec (although yall know i’m not into like, truly dark/evil malec in any form, so usually i go like. unrealistic tv crime drama style mafia boss with the dramatics and the moral code.) and gentle dom alec is NEVER NOT A WIN

especially with like, civilian magnus, or at least magnus who isn’t necessarily unfamiliar with mob life but isn’t part of it (like his dad was a super bad mob boss so he wants nothing to do with it, idk), being swept off his feet by this handsome man who is kind to him and makes him laugh and treats him with such respect and honestly magnus is like. he’s such a gentleman. he’s too good to be true. i mean, he’s like, this rich and gorgeous man with an undescribed job who likes to tie magnus up and fuck him senseless but still is great about the aftercare and is the complete opposite of uncaring/cold. 

and sure enough, he’s a fucking mafia boss. of course.

there is probably good angst here, too, like, secret identity shenanigans (also possible: magnus is also involved in the mafia, or is perhaps some daredevil style vigilante who deals with the mob sometimes–against and for, depending on the mob and on the situation) and secret relationship angst (alec insists on keeping their relationship secret because it could put magnus in danger, but magnus doesn’t know that at first so Insecurities Strike Again) and etc.

also i may or may not have a darkish mafia malec au involving heavy bdsm, outsider pov, and malec being… actually a little dark? still not like, straight-up evil, definitely no like, rape or hurting children or senseless murder of innocents, but like… mmm it’s a thing. not sure where that one is going yet, or if i’ll ever post it. but i’m working on making it less like that. they’re a little murdery, but their victims aren’t exactly innocent, good people, so??? (see more under cut this whole thing got kind of long,, oops)

it involves like, a rival mafia dude infiltrating their operation and trying to go through the boss’s supposed “sex slave” to take him down–only he’s fallen into the same trap most of the moles do, as magnus isn’t a slave at all. he’s alec’s partner and equal–they just happen to be into kinky shit, and plus, it doesn’t hurt to have magnus be so underestimated. they let people think alec is the only one on the throne, but really, magnus is just as powerful as him, and just as responsible for various strategies and shit. which means people up to no good might be more willing to talk around magnus. after all, he’s just the boss’s whore, right? who cares if he hears something, he’s clearly just some airhead… (and meanwhile magnus is idly scheming their punishment or possible demise, depending on how bad the transgression is.) plus, the look on their faces when magnus reveals himself right before they get shot or whatever (again, this is like, not just some innocent bystander, it’s like, traitors and old lieutenants leftover from the previous boss’s time that did some bad shit, etc.) is PRICELESS. 

so it’s like, lowkey dark murder husbands, but more in an anti-hero way (like, they took over a mob previously run by like, valentine or something–wait no the circle is a rival gang that is actually horrible so instead it’s like…. asmodeous doesn’t work because people would probably recognize the boss’s son… actually, it could be a power symbol, people think the new boss killed the old one then took his son as a fucking concubine or some shit as a power move, but in reality, magnus killed his dad after he did something particularly horrible and magnus stood up to him, and magnus wanted to take over but wasn’t sure if they’d turn against him, but then he met alec… somewhere? and they formed a plan together. catarina and/or raphael and/or ragnor probably try to form a rescue–they’re not involved in the mafia but they’re magnus’s friends and they hear shit–and he’s like “lol don’t worry i got this taken care of”. WAIT I GOT OFF TRACK. they took over this old mob that was actually terrible and basically pulled a fanon megamind and like, they rule the underbelly of the city but they do it? surprisingly well?). but anyway magnus and alec are all dom/sub power dynamics in public, and in bed they get pretty rough and kinky, but their actual personal, private relationship is very loving and between equals. because i can’t not write them deeply in love??

although that au isn’t really gentle dom alec. i mean, sometimes, in private, but. still. lol oops i got so caught up in the mafia boss au i got off track

Oh that's not what I meant about the Malec stereotype, sorry that's not very clear lol. What I meant is that Wylan is coded as a cute, innocent and inexperienced boy with a much flirtier and eccentric (and bi) love interest so it would feel quite subversive with this archetype to have this sort of past experience

Because I immediately dismissed it as rumor/foreshadowing, both bc I feel the poor boy having slept with a teacher in his fairly early teens would merit a bit more care than this and because Wylan, while more than that... kinda comes across as the Malec-type sensitive, inexperienced baby gay trope.
