So, I never post my fanarts anywhere... BUT A WEEK OR TWO AGO I FINISHED THE LAST CHAPTER (published) OF COATTAILS by @pain-in-the-butler

... and I got inspired to (finally) draw Dadbastian and Ciel in chapter 37, it's a bit different from how the scene goes (They're not sitting on the floor) but I put a lot of love on it ksks

And because this is too much angst for Ciel, I wanted to draw him smiling and what better scene than chapter 29!!! I got heavily inspired on @arkthesilliestandroid take of that scene cuz I love it so much, so yeah this is the other thing

There's something about Prairie not trusting Bess after being hurt by her (not trusting her with her family or to keep her promise) and Bess not trusting Splinterclan or it's leadership after leaving Oakclan initially.

Yeah a lot of this! Oakclan was in a really bad shape when she left (about a third got taken away, some returned with weird scars and terrifying tales, and the rest were terrified and paranoid to the extreme) and before that they were much more of a warriors-traditional clan as well, with the anti-kittypet mindset and stricter rules. Oakclan still exists so it didn't collapse completely, but it def failed Bess to the point she had to leave and left her with trust issues when it came to the clan (and Oakclan was prejudiced against those who left to form Splinterclan anyways so she got a does of that in the bargain.)

It's too little too late, blaming her for Moonpaw's death, and Prairie assuming that since Bess "left" them once she's just going to do it again. She's pissed seeing Elkpaw get close to Bess again because to her mind it's just a set-up for Bess to hurt him too.

And then on the other hand Bess is genuinely trying and having that thrown back in her face, it's very rough ;-;

Thank you! :D It's funny bc I've actually pulled back how mean some moments are bc I never want something to be 'unforgivable'? They do shitty things but they're mostly not shitty people! It's so much more interesting to me to write grey characters than someone who is truly evil

You always tried your best not to get too emotional about little things. Life was life, it would always have its ups and downs. Like last week when you stubbed your toe and earlier tonight when you tore a hole in your new fishnets. 

You had a long week at work and this minor issue felt like it was the icing on your misery cake. You didn’t expect it to drive you to tears, but here you were, crying outside of a shitty club in downtown Hawkins. 

The walk back to your car wasn’t that bad. The blurry vision caused by your tears only made you trip a few times, but other than that, you made it back to the lot you parked in without issue. 

When you got to the entrance, you wiped the tears to try and clear your vision. It mostly worked, but when you wiped them away, you could see a man standing in the parking lot. You wiped your eyes a few times again, just to make sure you weren’t imagining him. 

After your third wipe, you figured he was real given the fact that he started walking up to you. You stood still as he walked up, your heart thumping in your chest. The night air was cool, making you shiver, but you weren’t sure if it was all from the cold, or the fear settling in your stomach. 

“Hey,” the man said when he stepped up. Under the lamp light that lit up the parking lot, you could see that he wore a beat-up pair of converse, a tight pair of dark jeans ripped at the knees, and ended with a t-shirt under a blue jean jacket. What drew your attention away though was his messy head of hair. “You got a light?” He asked. 

“In my car,” you pointed over to your car. You two walked to your car in silence. You were still nervous, but luckily when you got to your door, the man stood a few steps away. Reaching in your car to grab the lighter made fresh tears fall from your eyes when your fishnets rip even more, “here,” you said, holding the lighter out to the man. 

He took it with a soft grunt and lit the cigarette that now hung between his lips. He took a draw from his cigarette and turned his head to blow the smoke away from the two of you. “You okay?” The man asked in concern. 

You sniffled and wiped your tears away, “it’s been a long day,” you murmured. 

“You wanna talk about it? One stranger to another?” He asked. 

You shut the door and leaned against your car, “I bought these fishnets the other day and already tore a hole in them,” you said, your tone full of sadness. 

The man stepped up in front of you and leaned against your car like you were, “at least you look cute,” he said, offering you a soft smile. He threw the bud of the cigarette onto the ground below him and pressed it out. 

“Thanks,” you whispered, a small smile of your own lighting up your face at his words. 

The man stepped closer, “can I see? It might not be so bad,” he said. He wasn’t that much taller than you were, but his presence felt like it loomed over you. 

You didn’t notice until he asked, but your hands were covering the tear, but you moved them away to let him see. You expect the man to look, not for him to place one of his hands on your thighs and run his fingers over the tear. 

“It’s so tiny,” he said. 

You smiled sheepishly at the man, “I might be being a little dramatic.”

The man chuckled, “I think it looks better like that,” he said. 

“Yeah?” You inched closer to the man. 

He smiled slowly, “yeah,” he whispered. He pressed a finger through the tear, directly onto your skin. After a few seconds of direct contact, he pulled his finger away and placed both hands on your hips and pulled you closer, “it goes well with your pretty skirt,” he said in a low voice. 

“Thank you,” you looked up at the man with a questioning look on your face. 

“Eddie,” he said, tightening his grip on your hips. “You look too pretty to be this sad over a small tear.”  

You wrapped your arms around his neck, “I think a kiss would make me happy.”

It was wild. A short time ago you were nervous when the man was walking up to you, now his lips were pressed to yours. You responded eagerly, pressing your body flush to his. 

“I’m going to rip these fucking fishnets off,” Eddie said feverishly. He turned to press your back against your car, pressing his lips to yours in a deep kiss. While Eddie’s tongue pressed inside your mouth, the sound of tearing filled your ears. You pulled away from the kiss, panting and turned on, but also a little angry. 

“Hey!” 

“I’ll buy you all of the fishnets you want,” Eddie said, a wicked grin on his face. 

“Promise?” You asked. Eddie cupped two warm hands on your face. He kissed you softly, over and over until you weren’t panting.  

Eddie’s hands were nice. Nice enough that you didn’t want to push him away, but you still did. You pressed his body away from yours, smirked at the look of betrayal on his face, “get in,” you gestured over to the other door, and Eddie was quick to run over. 

You drove home on autopilot, too focused on the warm feel of Eddie’s hand on your thigh as you drove home.
