i feel like trev has just sort of been a staple in the pesto kids’ lives forever. like, he got hired when andy and ollie were still babies and jj was a toddler, before the divorce, maybe, so he’s just always been Around. he’s the only employee that’s ever actually been jimmy’s friend, so he’s hung out at their apartment and occasionally babysat and hung out with them all outside of work or whatever, and he’s a sweet guy who likes to engage with them and he’s been in their lives for as long as they can remember so he just kind of slots into their mind as another family member, way before jimmy and him are in anything resembling an actual dating relationship

andy and ollie have to do a family tree project and they list their dad and j-ju and their mom and her family and then they just have trev’s name sort of floating to the side, not connected to anyone and when ms. labonz is like “who’s that?” the twins are just like “trev :)” and any further questions are just met with a “that’s trev :)” with no other explanations. labonz says that they shouldn’t put him in the tree if they can’t find a place for him and they start screaming at the top of their lungs until she drops the issue

jimmy junior and zeke are wrestling at recess and jj like sprains his wrist or breaks his nose or something and nurse liz has to call home, and trev is listed as the third emergency contact, after jimmy and the pesto mom. liz asks who trev is before she makes the call and jj is just like “he’s my dad’s bartender” and liz is just like “…. okay…. and he’s an emergency contact, why?” and j-ju is just like “because he’s trev” and liz is like “… so is he your dad’s partner, or…? what exactly is he to you?” and j-jj just looks befuddled by the question and is like “…. he’s trev”

like, just for years, the pesto kids have automatically filed him in their mind as a member of the family and whenever anyone asks who this guy is and why he’s at parent-teacher conferences or a wrestling meet or something their answer is just “… he’s trev”

recently thinking about the concept of a new npc/semi-cryptid healer character: a little (REALLY little) old lady who rides around on a giant animal (boar or something) whose....family(??) has a long history of healing talents through accupuncture, herbal remedies, pressure points, chiropractic things, etc.

the family line/line of practice has a history of very long life BECAUSE of the healing practices, so this little old lady is maybe...150? 170? years old??? shed be the healer the guild goes to, since her remedies are BETTER than mochis magic AND limes tech junk, she can help any one of them without problem

but the odd thing about her is that shes NOT a witch, weirdly. her healing is 100% natural, which means it works on those with high magic res, since it has nothing to do with magic.

i also think the family history would have this weird relationship with witches, where theyre willing to heal them (for a price of course), but they absolutely REFUSE to give their secrets to any witch. "You'll just make it better and put us out of a job." they always say, so even mochi doesnt know what the hell is in that soup shes eating, all she knows is that its capable of instantly restoring 90% of her magic (5 day cooldown before she can drink it again though, lest she die)

every time I think I'm gonna be able to sit and do some painting uninterrupted, dear mother suggests leaving the house to run errands and I feel bad for saying no and it's not like anything is actually at stake

so I'm like 4 days past my completely arbitrary and actually not important self imposed deadline and its driving me mad regardless !!
