23 Years since her Passing: Actress Souad Hosni, the Maker of Joy who suffered from Misery.
The issue of her death was a mystery, as the incident was classified as a suicide, while some of her friends pointed the finger of accusation at her murder, and the truth was not known until now.
Amidst the glamour of Egypt's golden age of cinema, the tragic death of beloved actress Souad Hosni sent shockwaves through the entertainment world. Souad Hosni or “Cinderella of the Arab screen” is an Egyptian actress, singer, and performance artist. She gained wide fame throughout the Arab world, she won the audience's love and admiration and won many awards. Despite enjoying a successful professional career marked by notable achievements, Souad Hosni's personal life was fraught with a series of crises, particularly following her involvement with the darker side of politics. Tragically, her life came to an end when she fell from the balcony of her apartment in London.
The well-known personality of Soad Hosni would not have killed herself, especially since she intended to go back to Egypt before passing away and her health had clearly improved.  After the “January 25 Revolution” and the arrest of Safwat Al-Sharif, her sister “Nagat Al Saghira” reopened the case. The first accused this time is former Speaker of the Consultative Council, Safwat Al-Sharif.
The Scotland investigation team spent 3,915 hours looking into the events surrounding the actress Souad Hosni's death after she fell off her house's balcony. They gathered a lot of information about her original diaries, which she summarized in her own voice on 12 cassette tapes before editing them into 350 pages. A week before she passed away, Souad Hosni completed the summary, and it was stolen on Thursday night, June 21, 2001, from the scene of crime.
The British judge decided to "reinvestigate the case of the death of the Egyptian citizen Souad Muhammad Kamal Hosni" after the investigations concluded in "suicide" and the file was closed. This was in response to a request made by British attorney of Palestinian descent "Amjad Salvini" based on an official power of attorney from the family. The criminal interpretation paper that lawyer Salvini was submitted to the British Scotland Yard's "Mysterious Crimes" Department. This convinced the Investigations Department that reopening the investigation was necessary because of the presence of notable proof and evidence showing that Souad was killed and did not commit suicide, as stated in the decision of the court.
“Political conspiracy”, they said. In the summary provided in Souad’s Recordings, many significant details emerged about her diary and the truth surrounding her interactions with Safwat Al-Sharif. According to Souad, she cherished enjoyment, happiness and romance. In late 1964, Officer Safwat Al-Sharif brought her to his office for their first encounter. To her surprise, he proposed a collaboration for what he claimed was a noble cause. However, upon learning his intentions, Souad reacted with anger, even resorting to slapping him.
Safwat Al-Sharif's leverage rested on a video featuring Souad and a friend. By threatening to destroy her artistic career and personal reputation, he forced her to work with him. She recounts how Safwat Al-Sharif became angry when she asked him to relieve her from work, because she was going to marry the artist “Abdel Halim Hafez”. He threatened her again, claiming that her future was “with the authority”. And till now, Safwat is the one accused in Souad Hosni’s murder.
In conclusion, the mystery of Souad Hosni's death still makes people curious and unsure. Even though authorities say it was suicide, many people believe there's more to it, maybe involving politics. Reopening the case and learning from Souad Hosni's own words in her diary show that people are still searching for the truth. Until we know for sure what happened, her story will always remind us of how complicated fame and tragedy can be.

President Abdel Fattah Saeed Hassan Khalil al-Sisi (November 19, 1954) the current president of Egypt, was born in Cairo. His father, Said “Hassan” al-Sisi was a bazaar shop owner, and his mother, Soad Mohamed, was a housewife. He attended the oldest and most prominent military school, the Egyptian Military Academy.
He began his military career in the infantry corps and rose to become commander of Egypt’s northern military district. He continued his education by taking courses at the Egyptian Command and Staff College, the Joint Command and Staff College in the UK, Nasser’s Military Sciences Academy in Egypt, and the US Army War College. He was appointed director of military intelligence.
After the ouster of long-serving President Hosni Mubarak on February 11, 2011, he became the youngest member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces that governed Egypt. National elections led to Mohammed Morsi becoming president of Egypt on June 17, 2012. Morsi was soon forced out of positions of power by the former members of SCAF but was promoted to the positions of Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
After two years of turmoil in Egypt, stability had been restored by military force. He was credited for this achievement by a majority of Egyptians and in January 2014, he was promoted to field marshal. On March 26, 2014, he resigned from the military and declared his candidacy for president. On June 3, he was declared the winner of the election having garnered 96% of the vote. He was inaugurated as president on June 8.
In April 2018, He was re-elected to a second term with 97% of the vote. In August 2019, the National Elections Authority announced that Egyptians had voted to pass several major changes to the country’s constitution. One amendment would extend a presidential term from four to six years and would add two more years to his current term.
He married Entissar Amer (1977). The couple has four children. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
