Damn Floor Polish | Sophie & Declan

The last few days had been odd for Declan. His sister had flown over, unannounced, and while he was thrilled to see her it hadn't been planned and that worried him. Saoirse had never done anything quite so impulsive before and pairing that with the fact that she was there indefinitely he wondered if something more was wrong. 

He had taken off from the bar to settle her in and show her around, but he was back in tonight and it was good to be at work again. Although Declan didn't think of being at Paddy's at work -- it was more like being able to host a party every night. 

He grinned when Sophie Connoghan came walking through the door, "Oi, there you are!" He announced, "I was wondering when you'd be coming in to see me. Hope you didn't give my replacement too much trouble," He said grinning. 

"Not that that will give you permission to misbehave tonight," He added, pointing a finger; his smiling fading, "I just cleaned up in here, so you'll have to take your fights outside." He finished with a smile though, to show he was teasing (although only partially, since Sophie had been known to be as rowdy as the rest of them). "Alright, sit on down here," He said, motioning to an empty spot at the bar, "What can I get you? First round is on me."

COUSIN. <3 So wow, these two are soooo different, haha. Like Liam isn't very social and a total pessimist and then there's Sophie who is very social and energetic and like family dinners w/ them like what even??? Anyway, idk how they'd get along? I'm really up for any kind of relationship tbh. Like Liam doesn't really get close with most ppl, b/c he does tend to rub them the wrong way, but he's also the sort of person who can survive and be happy just as well if he's alone than if he's surrounded by friends, so it doesn't bother him. But I do think family might be an exception (idk it def was w/ his mom, and whether or not that's extended to his uncle & cousin, idk??) I guess it depends what Sophie thinks of him, tbh?

Okay, so these two -- I'm kinda on the fence on how they'd interact (I can actually see it going both ways, tbh, so this idea kinda combines them and I'm not sold on it so we can change it if you think otherwise but okay --) 

So, I do think that the five O'Sullivan/Connoghan kids were def raised together (although Annie not so much b/c she's much younger than the rest of them), but everyone except for Sophie was kinda already being ~trained for the time they'd have an active role in the business so yeah, poor Sophie being excluded and like she's the one who most wants this for what it is and not to ~please her father/father figure, but OKAY O'SULLIVAN AND CONNOGHAN KNOW NOTHING. ;D

Anyway, I can see them being friends as kids and Cait kinda passing on what her father had taught her and teaching it to Sophie. At least right up until her father found out what she was doing and was like HELL NO CONNOGHAN DOESN'T WANT YOU FILLING SOPHIE'S HEAD WITH THIS STUFF and so then that would put an end to that and honestly, probs an end to them being close, especially since around that time was probs when Cait stopped having too many friends outside her sister and was just super incredibly focused on her education b/c she knew she wanted to be a lawyer for the family and wanted to get into a good law school and yeah. 

So I kinda see them going their separate ways and like, personally Cait thinks there is NO REASON why her father shouldn't have given her a chance b/c HELL YES A WOMAN CAN RUN THIS and I think she feels that she and her sister are proof of this (not that they are gunning for the top spot but just that just b/c Sophie is a girl doesn't mean she can't handle herself). 

That being said, she probs does support Jack taking over, if only b/c he does have the experience and everyone would be willing to follow him and that Sophie is ill-prepared (although not for her lack of trying). And she can see that she's trying to prove herself, but in Cait's mind, she's been known to be too hasty (Cait is like SUPER prepared w/ everything and only takes calculated risks/the sure bet) and although, especially with the Sonny w/ her attempt to kill Sonny, it's b/c she hasn't had all the information, she thinks that if ppl know about it w/o all the facts, they may not get behind her and yeah. Cait kinda has complicated feelings about the Sophie thing, haha. 

OKAY I THINK THAT'S IT. At the same time, I can also see where they could be friends now or where they could have never really gotten on idk I can't decide PLS HELP.

ooc | Jack & Sophie

Okay, so Jack's feelings towards Sophie are pretty complicated tbh?? Like, I do think they kinda ~grew up together and he def always kinda looked out for her b/c headcannon that when Sean left he told Jack to keep an eye out for Sophie, so I think he also feels a little protective over her, too, which does not help their relationship at all, haha. 

He also really doesn't want to be in charge after Connoghan. Like, he feels like he's a good number 2, but that's as far as he'd want to go. He knows the challenges/hardships/dangers that come with leading and he doesn't want that, but at the same time he'd do anything for Connoghan and he has been grooming him for this, so you will never hear Jack actually say that he'd rather not. He owes everything to Connoghan and would not deny him his last request. 

All that being said, idk that he thinks that Sophie is up for it either. Like, part of that is b/c she is kept in the dark so much and then makes poor decisions b/c she has limited information (case in point her attempt on Sonny's life) and I think it's kinda a vicious cycle that can't be broken unless she's actually allowed to prove herself and doesn't have to go and try to do that on her own, you know?

And, I think Jack would totally understand where Sophie is coming from, like Mrs. Connoghan wasn't even his actual mom (but seriously the closest thing he's ever had) and if he wasn't allowed to go after her killers, he would not be happy, but at the same time he feels like he kinda has to babysit her and this running off to NY to stop her doesn't sit well with him. And I think he'll keep telling her to be calm/patient and that she's actually taking steps backwards rather than forwards, with her father, and basically telling her things that she won't care to listen to and JUST THEIR INTERACTIONS WILL GO SO WELL. ;D

have the connoghans & morettis met before? Some of the them have, yes! About seven years ago, Connoghan came to Moretti with an offer to get in on his drug business. Moretti respectfully declined, because he did not want to deal in drugs. It kinda rubbed Connoghan the wrong way a bit, but they left on good terms. Franco Moretti, Jack Donovan, Rory Moran, & Alek Nielson were also at the meeting. Adam Cassidy was supposed to be there, but he had other things to attend to.
