My Glam-up Diary
Here’s another getting ready photo diary that I’m sharing with you guys today. Here I’m going to do a ‘Day time glam’ make-up look and then I’ll show you how to transform it into a ‘Night time glam’ look. Recently, my getting ready scenario is a well-lit room with my favorite music playing in the background. I feel music really helps me to focus on my make-up and not get confused about my look. With clothes I’m really quick.I usually have an idea in my head so I never take more time to get dressed. My go-to make-up look is a cat-eye and defined lip look. But some time I go bold and do a much louder make-up. It mostly depends on my outfit. For a sophisticated make-up look,it is important not to overdo it. It’s all about maintaining a balance. So for that ,sometimes I go eye-heavy or keep the eye clean and go lip-heavy. So, without further ado let’s get started! The products that you will need are mentioned below and as you know ,you can use any brand that suits you the best. All you need is : A moisturizer or serum Sunscreen ( only for the day ) Primer ( for both face and eye ) Concealer ( one or two shade lighter then your skin shade) Color corrector Cream contour Foundation ( that matches your natural skin tone ) Powder Bronzer Blush Highlighter Eye shadow Palette Eye pencil ( nude/white) Eye liner (optional) Mascara Eye lash curler Brow pencil/ powder/ gel Lip sticks Setting spray Brushes and a beauty sponge.
Before starting my make-up look , I make sure that my face is clean and well moisturized. Then I put primer on top. Next , I put an eye primer and set it with powder to avoid creasing and to make sure my eye shadow stays in place .
Its better to finish the eye make-up before starting the base make-up. In that way it’s easy to clean the excess eye shadow that falls on the face.
Also, it can be difficult for some people to get a perfect winged liner on the first go. So, this might help them out.
Staring with the brows, I like to fill in the sparse area of my brows with a brow pencil and a brow definer brush then I set my brows with a brow gel.
For a ‘day time’ make-up look you can play with bright colors or can keep it simple. Personally, I like to keep it simple. At first,I pick a transitional shade for my crease and blend it with an eye shadow brush. Then, apply a nice bright neutral shade or any other bright color all over the eyelid and blend it again. Next, I take a darker shade and apply on the outer corner of my eyes then blend it well.It gives my eyes more dimension.I take a shimmery shade and apply it on the inner corner of my eyes and on my brow bones with a small brush.I use a nude eye pencil for my waterline. In this way my eyes look more awake.
I don’t always put an eyeliner for a glam look, it depends on the type of look that I want. I like to keep the lashes for the end.
It’s the perfect time to play with colors while doing your eye make-up. Choose any color which compliments your outfit or try something totally crazy.Keep in mind that there is no rule when it comes to make-up.
Moving on to the base make-up. Heavy or light base, it’s totally up to you. I like to keep it in between.I use a little bit of color corrector under my eyes to hide the dark circles. You can use a color corrector for covering any discoloration on the face.
Then I use a foundation which matches my natural skin tone. I apply the foundation with a foundation brush using downwards motion. In that way my facial hair gets flat which gives me more smoother and natural finish.
Now comes the concealer, I use a concealer which is one or two shade lighter then me. I apply it underneath the eye in a ‘V’ shape, down the bridge of my nose starting from the center of my forehead ( between the eye brows ). Before blending it in ,I apply a cream contour on the parameters of my face. That is , underneath my cheekbones, across my hair line ,on the sides of my nose and on the jaw line. I blend it one at a time with a damp beauty sponge. Then I go all over again with that beauty blender so that there are no harsh lines on the face and they all blend in naturally.
After that I set my face using powder baking , under the eyes and on the T-zone. Giving it a 2 minute time , I dust the powder off using a fluffy brush.
Its time to bring back some color on my face. I use an angled brush to apply the bronzer powder over the places where I cream contoured , it gives my face some dimension and a sun kissed tone. This also makes my round face look a little more sculpted. After that I use a subtle blush on the apples of my cheek.
Now the best part of the make-up , highlighter. In my previous blog I already said how much I love highlighter. A full on glam look is the only perfect time to go crazy with the highlighter. So , to give my face some glow I add a good amount of highlight where the light naturally hits my face . That is, on top of my cheek bone, down the bridge of my nose ( especially the tip of the nose, to give it a more pointy effect ), and on my cupid’s bow.
Moving back to the eyes. As my eye make-up is pretty much done , now I ‘ll curl my lashes and apply a coat of my favorite mascara. As the first coat dries , I apply another coat of the same mascara and put on a pair of natural looking falsies.
Lastly, I apply a pinkish nude matte lipstick on my lips.
To finish off my makeup look I set my face with a setting spray and I’m done.
To turn this look into a ‘Night time glam’ look , all I do is to add a little sparkle on the center of my eyelid ( you can add any bright shimmery color or you can just go with glitters) and darken the outer corners of the eyes and blend it altogether so that there are no harsh lines. Next , I change my natural falsies with heavy lashes or wispies. Finally, I change my lip color into a full nude or go bold and wear a bright red lipstick (It totally depends on you).
So, here’s the final look !
Hope these tips were helpful to you. Do give it a try. And another thing , make-up is a way to express yourself; if you love it then don’t feel shy about it. Be conscious of the impression you want to make and focus on using make-up to enhance your natural beauty rather then masking your imperfections.
