i really love to see spideypool as that one tragic trope where at first peter is the one helping wade become better and be the best version of himself but then later on, he starts losing himself and becomes the worst version of himself and wade can’t stop him until it’s too late.

20 Questions with a Fanfic Author
I know this isn't exactly a fandom blog anymore and I don't really post about my fanfic much these days (maybe I should?) but @waterme-stories tagged me so the laws of the universe say I gotta. And I'm procrastinating my real work. Hi, Water!! It was really fun to read yours, thanks for the tag. <3
1. How many works on AO3?
49! A good chunk of em are drabbles, which I don't write much anymore. Definitely not a majority of the fic I've ever written, though, even though I've had ao3 for ages (long enough that my earliest fics are basically unreadable to me now). It's still wild to realize I don't have any doctor who fic up that's longer than a drabble.
2. Total AO3 Word Count?
121,420
3. Top 5 Fics by Kudos
Great Minds (Spiderman/Deadpool)
Room for the Heart to Grow (Our Flag Means Death, Ed/Stede)
On and Off the Clock (Spiderman/Deadpool)
Lighthouse (On the Shores of the River Styx) (Spiderman/Deadpool)
Who Knew Debate was a Contact Sport? (Spiderman/Deadpool)
I'm going to give an honorable mention to Sowing Discord, the David/Patrick Schitt's Creek fic at #6 that was at the time felt like an absolutely unbelievable amount of engagement. It's not SC's fault the fandom was smaller!
Kinda insane that there's no homestuck on this list, cause those only got knocked off the #1 and #2 spots of my fics-by-hits list late last year. But the spideypool fandom is just that strong. I posted contact sport this year.
4. What fandoms do you write for?
I go through a lot of phases, and sometimes I go back to old loves. These days, most of what I post is Spideypool or Bill & Ted, but I've been writing a bunch of Leverage and early MCU fic as well, lately, and I just started outlining a Monster Prom fic I'm hoping to write for the @fourormore bingo even if it seems like the fanfic scene for those games never got off the ground.
My previous two big fandoms were Schitt's Creek and Our Flag Means Death. I still write some OFMD fic occasionally--I have a Jim/Olu-focused ot4 ficlet that is...... absolute filth and I'd like to have it done but there's a lot of other stuff I've been plunking away at, too. I'm not sure I'm ever going to write for Schitt's Creek again.
The only pre-ao3 fandoms I'm likely to pickup again are Danny Phantom and Doctor Who, but you never know. I love trying new fandoms for short challenges and stuff.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! Eventually. A lot of the time it's really energizing for me and then sometimes I just. Am too overwhelmed by the rest of the world. But I love getting comments, a single comment mentioning something specific that the reader liked feels way more real to my brain than like 200 kudos, so I try to leave and respond to comments as often as I can.
6. Angstiest Ending?
I don't really write angsty endings that often. I've been accused of being way Angstier than I intended with Lighthouse, and that one's not done yet, so..... yeah, that's a cop-out lol. I will finish it, though!! I promise!! I'm just so slow.
Probably The Best Revenge is Living, which was an OFMD fic about Jim finding out their Nana died during Ed's between-seasons Kraken Period. Ed is trying to care about Jim, trying to help them without showing too much weakness, but he also does use the threat of violence against a loved one to trap a grieving Jim on board the Revenge. It's sorta loving, sorta codependent, just... hurt and messy. But everybody makes it. I think in some ways I felt more free to write it like that cause it wasn't a shippy fic. I should do more of those.
7. Fic with the Happiest Ending?
Hmm. This feels harder to quantify. My two shmoopiest fics in general are Room for the Heart to Grow and Skin To Skin, which are both Ed/Stede fics because those two make me an absolute sap it turns out.
But I think the one with the happiest ending, specifically, the one that had to work for it a little bit, is probably the Schitt's Creek fic Since Always Til Forever. David and Patrick certainly spend a lot of time talking about Happy Endings, at least.
8. Do you get hate?
No, I don't think I ever have on ao3. I've been incredibly lucky. But I'm also just not that big of a name in any of my fandoms, which I suspect helps.
9. Do you write smut?
It's a pretty new development still, but. Yeah. I really came out of the gate swinging with Skin To Skin.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Yes! When an idea really strikes me. Not many have gotten to see the light of day, though. I do really wanna write a Doctor Who/Bill & Ted Crossover, and I have PLANS for a Leverage + Spideypool fic.
11. Ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. That would be cool! I have gotten comments in other languages, that's always nice.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic?
Sorta, once, though there's only two chapters. So Glide Away On Soapy Heels was a silly Homestuck/MCU crossover shipping (beta) Mom Lalonde and Tony Stark. IIrc Shi and I brainstormed it, I wrote the first chapter more-or-less intending it to be a oneshot, she sort-of-surprised me with the chapter 2, and we were planning to alternate chapters but I don't know that I ever actually knew where I was going next.
I used to write like that all the time for original fiction in like middle and high school, but these days I find the particular guilt-spiral having a coauthor creates when I don't have time/spoons to go as fast as I'd like to be a real nasty trap.
14. All time favorite ship?
Stealing @waterme-stories' answer to say I'm way too poly for this.
I'm going to say MCU Bruce/Tony. I'm such a sucker for gay scientists. I lowkey shipped it before I was done working through my internalized homophobia enough to read or write slash. I used to RP Bruce. I can still pick them back up and start writing with no preamble. And also it's so under-represented in my bookmarks and I've apparently never published a science bros/boyfriends fic. But I love them, your honor.
If you were wondering what ship dominates my bookmarks, though, it's Stucky. Which I only started reading like three years ago. There's just so much truly incredible Stucky fic.
15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I usually try not to post things I'm not relatively sure I'll be able to finish, these days, although I know Lighthouse has been sitting for uh. Quite a while. I promise I'm getting back to it. I just. Need to finish a couple of Bill & Ted WIPs first.
Most of the WIPs I've actually abandoned are because I'm not inspired to write in the fandom anymore, and I feel like I've gotten too out of touch with the characters. All my old homestuck fic is in that boat.
Out of the recent-ish stuff that I did start posting, probably the biggest bummer is If You Want to Survive, which was my messy Stede/Izzy fic where they both grew up at the same boarding school and Izzy made Stede worse. I had big plans. That fandom got kinda weird to be in. I think I'm probably just letting that one go.
I also had soooooo much stuff outlined in the Edit Wars series, which was my trans!David Rose Schitt's Creek AU where the Blouse Barn opened back up under a new name except they could never settle on a new name, and Patrick took a job there instead. And I'm not saying never on that one, and thankfully since it was a series of vignettes I don't have any cliffhangers or incomplete fics, but there's basically no Wendy!! I had plans for Wendy!! And her daughter!! And for more David & Alexis scenes!! Ugh, let's be real, one extremely enthused Schitt's Creek friend could get me back on that bandwagon.
But I'm starting stuff all the time. There's so much stuff I've started, gotten invested in, outlined, realized it was going to be too long, and then never gotten off the ground with. My Jim Jimenez Ella Enchanted AU is pretty damn high on the list of ones I'm bummed I'll probably never actually write.
16. Writing strengths?
I think I write sensations really well. Flavors, body-feelings, pain. The stuff that sits right at the skin, the way it feels to be in a room. I'm also pretty good at one-on-one fight scenes and group dialogue. I think I have a knack for capturing character voices, and having characters with sticky voices is often what draws me to keep writing in a fandom past the initial idea. I can be incredibly concise when I need to be, honed by drabble-writing and poetry, although I'm out of the habit more and more lately because my betas keep telling me to leave everything in.
I also get told that I'm funny. I'm always surprised to learn this when I start getting comments, but it makes sense.
17. Writing Weaknesses?
I don't write many long fics. It's hard for me to stick with stuff past the initial intertia and balance the tone/emotions for that long. It's really hard for me to just shrug off the details and keep things moving, even when that's the tone of the source material. I struggle with describing action that's not in some way intimate (hence the bit about being good at writing one-on-one fight scenes lol) or describing a space clearly rather than emotionally/evocatively. Any time a character needs pop culture references I'm absolutely screwed. Idk why I keep writing Deadpool. Send help.
18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?
These days I really don't have strong opinions or well-formed thoughts. I try not to do it unless it's like a well-known saying or a couple of words. Sometimes I'll do that for Spanish or French, if it's something I happen to already know, but normally I'll just specify in the prose what language it was in. I do not have the time, skills, or resources to properly translate fanfic into a language I don't speak.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
In my memory, it was Star Wars Prequel fic that featured baby Anakin getting whisked off to some multiverse. I wrote it out on the family computer and saved it to a flash drive.
First fic I actually posted anywhere once I knew about online fandom was Twilight fanfic where there was an insert character of my best friend. I'm not sure I even changed her name, actually.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
If I can't pick literally all of Edit Wars then I think I'm going to have to pick Learn To Live On Less. Some of the Things Some of the Time is an extremely, extremely close second.
God, who do I know on tumblr who writes fanfic still. @qwanderer @writingfish @mattholicguilt @chocolatepot @thistleraven

I’ve been wanting to draw this for a few months… though I don’t like drawing Ink all that much, so I was procrastinating.
There’s a drawing somewhere of Spiderman dramatically posing with Mj’s hair over his head… I haven’t been able to find the image (only the spideypool version someone else did) but yeah, know that’s what this is sorta based off of.
I really enjoy that image too… was sorta upset I couldn’t find it :///
simple shading | extra colors | flats
line art | sketch | pre-sketch
Credits-
Ink: Comyet
that one image by… marvel??? Idk, it was in the older Spiderman comic style though

I low key stalked most your spideypool stuff cause chefs kiss*
Thoughts on hypermobile Peter Parker (cause self projecting) and Wade just going wtf. Or flare ups cause yummy angst and vulnerability
youre so sweet im glad you like my nonsense <3
i think the disabling aspects of mutations/powers are super interesting and as someone with hypermobility... lets do this
**ghost from the future: you said angst but i got fluffy on us. my bad. also i wrote more than i meant to, buckle in**
so peter, before the bite, wasnt abnormally flexible. sure, he was usually able to reach into weird places but nothing crazy. after the bite though, things got different. if a villian managed to get close enough to lay hands on him, sometimes theyd bend him trying to break him and it just... wouldnt happen, and their surprise was enough for him to get his comfortable fighting distance again.
and when he flips around midair its hard to tell when he bends a little odd or stretches in a way someones not supposed to, hes moving so fast and up so high.
here and there his shoulder pops out mid fight and onlookers are jaw-dropped horrified cover-the-childrens-eyes but he just clicks it right back in fast as he can and gets back to it. sure, its not comfortable, it goddamn hurts, but when you're superhero-ing you feel a whole lot worse, and its honestly lucky, he'd be incapacitated a lot more if it werent for all this
for deadpool, dislocations are not a super big deal, but for a very different reason. he knows theyll fix themselves. so when he first sees spideys joint decidedly not in the right place he definitely flips a bit. before he can offer to relocate it (he mostly kinda knows how by now) its back and spidey is back on the task at hand while wades still sorta processing for a sec. anyone else would definitely have needed help fixing that. he just files that away for later, have to finish up this thing theyre doing
then, you know, after theyve become more familiar and spidey comes over to wades apartment, sometimes wade is just completely caught off guard by the positions spidey manages to get comfortable in.
"you're just. fine? with your leg like that?"
"huh?"
its not even something of note to spidey tho, hes completely chill with it by now.
the first time peter crashes on wades couch, it's not ideal. he's just... exhausted. it feels like he's pulled just about everything he could have pulled in his bodies during tonights patrol, and he knew, he knew he shouldve stayed home tonight, but he didn't.
and wade can't quite figure out what about tonight is so bad. it's been nothing too out of the ordinary for any busy night, but he's half afraid he's going to have to carry spidey the rest of the way. (after he ends up agreeing to go to wades because it's closer) the way spideys moving is freaking him out.
wades wracking his brain as he opens up the (actually really comfortable) futon, trying to work out what was different about tonight. when spidey curls up on the futon he just groans and is breathing heavily, audible through the mask.
"is something... broken? did i miss that?"
spidey shakes his head. wade looks over him again, no blood or visible wounds. wade goes off to get him a small variety of options- tshirt, hoodie, sweatpants, shorts, whatever he can find to make sure spidey can pick something comfortable for himself. he leaves them on the coffee table for when spidey can move.
"painkillers? ....alcohol?"
"no, wade, just... nothing. nothing is going to help"
it looks like spidey can hardly move as he sits up to eye the clothing pile, and wade might be more concerned before.
peter can hardly think straight and just hopes he doesn't feel stuck on this stupid couch-bed for the next week. when wade gives him privacy to change he has to call him back to ask for help getting the damn hoodie over his head, like this isn't bad enough and he wants to explode.
when peter wakes up hes got a blanket thrown over him and wade is burning pancakes as quietly as wade is capable of doing anything. he still can hardly move without feeling the searing pain but his head feels a little clearer.
when wade notices hes awake and brings over a small plate, he speaks lower than usual, as if talking too loud would hurt peter, and it's endearing. peter rolls up his mask and feeds himself slowly, to try to not make his shoulders feel worse. he tries to explain himself, but it comes out clunky
there are better days and worse days, if he bends more than usual it might hurt more than usual. certain things that would hurt others dont hurt but sometimes everything hurts more than he can explain.
wade silently wonders if spideys multi-day absences wers due to this, and makes a note to do research. he wants to be able to help spidey out.
the next few times peter pushes it and ends up on wades couch, flaring up and having made it worse, wade is more prepared each time. at first peter is confused, and wonders how adaptive wade really is, but when he hears wade muttering symptoms and potential solutions under his breath, he realizes wades learning. for him.
wade is taking mental notes of what applies, what doesnt, what helps, and what doesnt, and is figuring out what to do in these situations.
he tries to learn how spidey balances the worse times with the hero business and eventually, peter comes to rely on him, even when flares dont connect with superhero business. he learns he can take a cab and just show up and wade will help him out. he learns about the compassionate side of wade, and eventually wade comes over to his instead. he shoots wade a text and knows he'll be there within 20 minutes to make sure peter has everything he needs and dinner is taken care of.
their relationship deepens as peter learns not only that he needs help sometimes, but that he can trust wade to be the person to help him. when things develop, peter finds himself to be not nearly as nervous as he would have expected, because he already trusts wade so thoroughly with his most vulnerable moments that it comes naturally
trusting wade is nothing new, both in patrolling and in his most personal moments, and he knows wade is so much more than what everyone thinks because hes seen it since before wade had any reason to help him. and sometimes as he watches wade wreck his kitchen with an attempt at cooking (that wade will clean up himself too) he thinks about how the first time he crashed on wades couch, in agony, wade had no reason to let him stay, or to do as much as he did. wade could have taken off his mask or anything that day, and didnt.
the day peter takes off his mask in front of wade, he isnt thinking of everything that could go wrong. hes thinking of wade's careful back rubs, slow shoulder massages, and things wade said when he thought peter was sleeping. the wade only peter got to see, the wade who would get to meet peter.
[leaving it here because this is a lot for an ask prompt lolol, might add more at some point ^^]

I know I said I'd do a poll but uuuuhhh I don't wanna wait long enough to get more options and I have ✨Ideas and opinions✨
C!Thomas: Honestly (DC's) Captain Marvel was a stroke of genius on my part. However if I wanna go for something strictly Thomas with no sides influences uuuuuhhhhh I have nothing. Spider-man kinda sorta fits but if Peter's anything he's NOT a man of theater.
Logan: Batman and Bruce Banner are both great options imo I don't know much about Banner, but a man of science with anger issues, overlooked and underestimated by people? Yeah. Batman's got the smarts, the mental health that applies to everyone but himself, he's autistic, he's ocd, he's angry. He is, however , ultimately also a ditsy father of 8. So. Iron man was suggested, but I don't think he fits as much. He's a genius, yes. And he's arrogant and self centered. But he's also a showman first and foremost. Not in the same way Roman and Thomas are, but in the same way Brucie Wayne is. He's messy and unorganized. I think the emotional suppression is an important part of Logan, and I don't really see it as a theme in Iron Man. I also do not like Iron Man, but hey I don't like Batman either so it's not that I'm biased 🤣 if we want to go with other marvel scientists Reed Richards is there but he also sucks and I don't want to touch that with a ten foot pole. I also thought about Prodigy but I'd have to look into that one more closely.
Roman: I had ✨options✨ because I feel like it's easy to go "oh well he's stereotypical superhero!" And assign him characters that are popular. But I think I struck gold with Human Torch there for a bit. I got a more in dept look at Johnny's characterization in my bkdk spideypool post and the insecurity? The search for love? The commitment? The jealousy? The playboy persona because that's what everyone expects of him? The family of geniuses that he feels alienated in? Thor was suggested also. And I'm not mad about this one. I can understand it wholeheartedly. Thor's got a bit more seriousness in him, Roman is a little sillier, but I think there's a lot about Thor, especially his backstory and familial drama, that would resonate with Roman. It does help that he's also the prince of Asgard (there was also a Spidey ask I want to get into but that's gonna be LONG so it's gonna be its own post where I answer that). I was also thinking Scarlet Which but that would be entirely aesthetic based. And also because comic books Quicksilver is... Truly something alright!
Remus: Deadpool is the basic-est choice for him. He's crass and disgusting and childish. He's abrasive and obnoxious and so purposefully indignant. Plays the role of the bad guy because he does it well, people expect it from him, and he doesn't want people better than him to have to take a step into his direction. I think this fits. Loki was suggested, which would make sense for the Roman Thor thing, but Loki is more... Clever? He's the Yakko to Remus's Wakko. He's the clever puns and trickery, to Remus' physical gags and stinky jokes. So I don't really see it other than the green. OH god I'm either gonna have to draw a yellow Loki or a green Janus and I don't know which unsettled me more.
Janus: Loki. I don't know how I didn't fucking see it. But Loki. It does put Roman and Janus in a weird position where the family tree in this AU is a fucking mess. But alas. I'm talking specifically Teenage!Loki of the West coast Avengers. Regular Loki isn't a hero. He's not even really morally gray. He's pissed, he's bored, but he's not doing shit out of the goodness of his heart. He's doing it because he's Chaotic Neutral. He's a trickster, he's mischievous, he's causing trouble on purpose and hurting everyone in the process because it's funny. Teen!Loki however comes to care. About the people of Midgard, about his brother, about himself. And he makes a decision: to play the part everyone has forced onto him. The villain. That's what's expected of him, so that is the part he'll play. And he'll play you like the cheap kazoo you are because before you know it he's using your preconceived notions of him to twist the outcome to his favour, which is ultimately to the greater good. And sure he might've ruined his relationship with his friends and Thor might not ever trust him again but... they're alive and well now. So that's all that matters. I did also briefly think Magneto but that was purely based on sense of justice and righteous anger. Mystique might also fit but that's a hard character to make into someone else without it just being her shapeshifting y'know. Anyway can you tell that Janus is my favorite?
Virgil: this one has me stumped. He will come up in the Roman Spider-man post. So won't be talking Spider-man here. However. I have proposed 3 main options myself. Rogue, the girl who kills everything she touches. Makes her anxious, scared of interacting with other people. She thinks of herself as a villain because with abilities like hers how can she be anything but? Hawkeye, because Clint Barton is a mess of a man. Lives off coffee in an apartment building he accidentally bought from the Bulgarian/Russian mafia. Has a troubled past of murder, trickery, and circus acts. He struggles but has a great support system which kind of mostly includes women he's slept with and the girl he took under his wing (even though she's leagues more well adjusted than him). Intimidating like only a spy can be, but if you've seen him trip on his dog and spill coffee on both he dog and himself well... He kinda looses some of the intimidation factor don't he? And lastly Bucky Barnes. This one is purely because Bucky is the angst baby (alongside Jason Todd) of comic books c'mon. I did also say Gambit but again that's kinda mostly because of the purple lol.
Patton: the one I struggle with the most. Tempted to go with Nightwing but... There just isn't anything I feel fits well! Sue Storm maybe? Parentification is what I'm leaning towards here. Sue also does have children. Cheerful front because they've got people to take care of, used to have all the answers and questions self worth now that they don't anymore, strong moral compass that gets tested everyday and gets bent a little sometimes which makes them feel dirty. Idk. I'm so fucking stuck with Patton. I'm gonna have to look into her more but The Unbeatable Squirrel girl is a good option. She's not a mom but she does have an army of pet squirrels. She defeats people by essentially befriending them. She's bubbly. I can see it.
The heroes don't have to be men btw. I can and will "Hawkeye Project" this shit.
I need to make a Sanders Sides as superheroes drawing
But not like... Roman if he were a superhero. I mean which DC/Marvel hero would they be "variants" of.
I need opinions. Send me options. I'll make polls after I get a few.
Expect Remus. He's Deadpool. That one's easy.
