North Node in the Natal Chart and Synastry

I wanted to do a post on the North Node in the Natal Chart and in Synastry. The North Node in Astrology represents our destiny and the direction we are headed in this lifetime.

Where the South Node is placed -it’s always opposite the North Node-this tells us what we already know; this is an area of life accompanied by feelings of familiarity & feelings of comfort. We are meant to be working towards the direction of our North Node in this lifetime.

Personally, I give precedent to the house placement of the North Node over the sign; but you are welcome to incorporate both the sign and house placement.

In synastry I make a mental note of the nodal house overlays, and I absolutely find some Node connections important. However, I do think you can have a soul connection with someone and NOT have nodal contacts.

In Synastry we can look at house overlays and see where our North Node falls for another person and vice versa; the house placement of a person’s node in our own chart (and vice versa) can show how or what area of life we are encouraging one another to grow.

Random Node Aspects

A common placement I see in star crossed relationships is one person’s Venus square the Nodes of another.

If you can’t get rid of them or break away from one another Saturn in one chart is likely making an aspect to the nodes of the other persons.

Venus in one chart conjoining the South Node of another tells us this is a past life connection.

When one person’s Venus conjoins the North Node of another something about this connection is important to both parties’ personal development.

I want to encourage everyone to look at the planets they have conjunct the South node in their own Natal Chart and see what patterns, habits, thoughts, are holding you back from the direction of your north node. Ask yourself how you can move toward your north node? What is holding you back? What ancestral patterns or beliefs do you need to release in order to move in the direction of your destiny?

If you have natal planets conjunct the south node -Particularly Sun & Moon, it can feel like you are in a holding pattern bound to ancestral patterning. How can you transcend these patterns instead of reliving them?

- your 7th house ruler conjuncts, trines or sextiles the other person's 7th house ruler

- saturn conjunctions, trines or sextiles (saturn in synastry brings the potential for long term, and positive aspects bring balance in the dynamic as well)

- north node conjunctions (while north node conjunctions alone are not a "meant to last" confirmation, they do say "meant to meet each other. Meant to mean something". Also I personally believe that in this context conjunctions are more potent than trines or sextiles)

- woman's moon aspecting man's jupiter (declinations count as well)

- woman's moon conjuncting man's sun (moon parallel sun counts as well)

- mars trine or sextile moon (these are "baby-making" aspect. It's constantly seen in the synastry of couples who start a family)

- juno conjunct, trine or sextile the other person's personal placements

- your boda (1487) asteroid conjuncting the other person's boda asteroid at a tight degree orb

- your union (1585) asteroid conjuncting the other person's union asteroid at a tight degree orb

- boda or union conjunct juno

- woman's briede (19029) asteroid conjunct man's moon

- man's groom (5129) asteroid conjunct woman's jupiter

I was thinking about what kind of aspects in synastry could possibly make two people feel like they’re soulmates or twinflames, generally speaking (e.g., trines, squares) and thought about certain combinations.

Soulmate Energy :

Like if the main aspects found were Sextiles and Squares, I feel like that could give more of a soulmate energy because while the Sextile energy is more easy and free-flowing and friendly, the Squares present could help both people overcome obstacles together and learn and grow from them.

Twin Flame Energy :

Compared to if a synastry chart was mainly composed of Trines and Oppositions (maybe conjunctions..?) where the Trines show understanding each other because you share the same element of planets aspecting each other, (Ex : Air - Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

while Oppositions could roughen up certain areas but the placements would be under the same modality, (Ex : Fixed - Scorpio / Taurus, Leo / Aquarius)

so like you see or experience the same things with different lens, or experience different things with the same perspectives - being on literal opposite ends or standing opposite each other but still being on the same path.

I mentioned Synastry here but maybe it can also be used in Composite Charts with those aspects.
