I feel like we are missing out on the potential of Yandere Eden Adam x Angel Lucifer
Because, imagine Adam being born and the first angel he sees, (outside of Sera) is this cute little angel with a beautiful singing voice sitting by a pond playing with the ducks on his time off of being an angel and Adam becomes obsessed at first site. Cuz it's the beauty of a pure innocence and power Infront of him. At first he just wants friendship, cuz that's all he understands before Lilith is born, he emotionally manipulate Lucifer in to coming back every day even tho he knows it could get Lucifer in trouble. He will cry if he's gone for too long, he will get grumpy and not talk to Lucifer if he hears Lucifer is spending time with other angels. He will hold on to Lucifer a bit too tight when he comes back and sniff his hair cuz he smells like nothing Adam has ever smelled in the garden. Lucifer calls it stardust. Adam calls it perfection.
And yeah, what Adam is doing is creepy and a bit weird, but Lucifer doesn't mind it! He just assumes that's how humans are supposed to act. After all, Adam is the first of his kind! He's just lonely and humans were ment to be social creatures according to Michael. He's lonely when Lucifer isn't there, ofcourse he's desperate to have someone there. It's his natural instinct.
Things change, however, when Sera comes and asks Adam what he would like in a wife. And of course Adam basicly describes Lucifer. Sera does notice but assumes it's fine because Lucifer and Michael's and quite a few other angels have blond hair, white skin, and blue eyes. It's probebly just something Adams seen on the angels and it looks very different from himself so he found it pretty on people. So Sera brings this info to the angels in charge of making Lilith, and they get to work. When Lilith is actually introduced, Adam is... Disappointed to say the least. And soon easily infuriated when Lilith and Lucifer meet. Lucifer is his angel after all, NOT Liliths.
So his rage grows slowly as he watches Lilith and Lucifer get closer. Lilith is smarter then Adam, figured things out faster, is more empathetic, she makes friends with the animals easier, she keeps TOUCHING LUCIFERS HAIR without asking! And Lucifer doesn't even CARE!!
Yeah, he's not ok with this, infact, he's far from ok with this. So he starts thinking about ways to get Lucifer alone, ways of chasing Lilith off with arguments before Lucifer even gets to Eden on his time off. He even went so far as pushing Lilith in a river on "accident" just to make sure she was gone by the time Lucifer gets back. The day he did that however got the angels involved. He had tried to HURT the other human, and Lilith was now scared of him, and worst of all, Lucifer was being blamed for interfering in the twos bonding. So now, Lucifer was grounded in heaven, and Adam and Lilith are being watched very intently by Michael, who, in Adams opinion, was an uglier version of Lucifer at best. So of course he had no care in dealing with him or his 'wife'.
Adam avoided them both for a bit, missing Lucifer, missing his laugh and his touch. He wanted Lucifer to be his wife. He wanted to hold him and kiss him like the expected him to do with Lilith. But how?! How could he get Lucifer back...
As he contemplated this he stumbled across a tree with a golden fence around it, and as Adam looks up, he's reminded of something he was told on his first day of breath... Do not touch the apples of knowledge... Knowlege, isn't that how you get smarter? Like Lilith? If he ate one, could he be smart enough to get Lucifer back and be with him instead.
So, of course, he takes an apple, and right before Michael could stop him, took a bite.
Eden broke that day, Michael quickly grabbed both humans as darkness descended upon the garden, releasing true evil in to the universe, but Adam didn't seem to care, or was even scared like Lilith. His mind filled with knowledge of how to get what he wanted
When the humans were brought to heaven as Eden is consumed, Lucifer and the other angels come to see the damage. Only for Lucifer to be grabbed by Adam as the angels are freaking out. He's easily dragged off by Adam in to the deeper parts of heaven where no other angels where. Lucifer is trying to talk to Adam, figure out what is happening, get an explanation for why the garden was crumbling, but Adam didn't answer any of the questions, too focused on making sure Lucifer would be corrupted, be ruined beyond what heaven could handle. If he mated with a human, he knew he and Lucifer would fall together... And that's exactly what happens. He dragged Lucifer somewhere alone, confessed his feelings and pushed Lucifer to take his first time. Lucifer, confused, but enraptured by the humans desire, dreams of freedom with Lucifer by his side, and his clear undying love, gave in to his demands. Lucifer sinned, Adam sinned, and by the time they were found, it was already too late. And once again, Lucifer was blamed for the humans didn't know better, and Lucifer should have...
The worst part is, Lucifer didn't notice how Adams eyes changed from the beautiful amber to a dark brown that resembled a void...
((I may make a part two of this later UvU for now, I have stuff to do~))

Sour Apple Act One: One Song
Once upon a time, there was a princess.
The fairest of them all,
Who defeated a dark evil and went on to live happily ever after.
But what happens when you are no longer the fairest?
What happens when the one thing you attribute your worth to…
is stripped away forever?
Lorelei walked into her room, after a day of many duties. She cursed the day that tired her out. She watched as the Mirror's face faded in within the dark atmosphere inside.
Her eyes darkened as she saw the mirror and took a breath.
She hated that she needed to ask, but what had become around her needed to be heard.
🍎
My mirror tell me what you see today
What word of those beyond these walls
🍎
"It seems another has taken your place…," The Mirror hummed.
Lorelei could only look in shock, when she heard. She whipped her head back at the mirror, her lips trembling. "No… no… you told me that couldn't happen."
"The fairest can only be fair for so long."
"But it's all I am… it's all I've ever been."
Lorelei refused her life was already going downhill. Ever since she was a young girl and now onto adulthood. A plague was following her, cursing those around her, and she was done. The Mirror saw this and grinned coyly.
"We all grow old, my dear."
🍎
Beauty is power and all you are
You are nothing now
🍎
"But you're meant to help me," Lorelei hissed at the mirror, now glaring at it. Her fists were clenched, blood underneath her nails from how hard they were clenched.
🍎
Though there are ways to gain it all back
I can show you how
Apples don't fall far from where the branch has been
But you'll do more than her
🍎
The mention of her made Lorelei scowl. The pain she has dealt with from that wicked woman was too much for her to remember, and that damn Mirror knew that, as it smiled once again.
"I'm nothing like her." Lorelei scowled coldly, "And I will never be like her."
"Really?" The Mirror faux a question, "I see so many things that have made you similar."
"Enough."
🍎
Just tell me what spell I need for this to disappear
Make things as they were
All I've ever been
Gone in seconds flat
Pretty as a rose
Was all I ever had
Now I have a chance
To fix what was replaced
To let this kingdom know
I won't take second place
I can't lose to some nobody
(You can't lose)
I won't back down
(Don't back down)
Take what I have earned all these years
(Take what you've earned)
I'll claim my crown
(Claim your crown)
I cannot be beaten when it's all I've had
(You can't be beaten when it's all you had)
🍎
The story starts again anew
Watch as the chaos now ensues…
🍎
"Mirror, Mirror on my wall," Loreli spoke, gulping as she spoke the question, "Who is the fairest of them all?"
"Although, my queen, though fair may be, I see someone that surpassed the beauty of thee."
"Who?" Lorelei demanded, "You have already told me that someone has taken my place, but I demand who dares take my place? After so long."
"The person I see has fair skin that has been blessed by spring, eyes just as beautiful as the cloudless sky above and lovely curly hair that has reminded those of beautuful lavenders."
"Epel," Lorelei growled, rushing towards a nearby window, and opening the curtains.
She saw the young boy she has damned years ago, now 15, almost 16. He was now cleaning the stairwell that leads to the gardens, on the last step. His humming was angelic, lovely doves surrounded him as he did, and he didn't mind it.
It made her sick to her stomach, seeing the boy that destroyed her life, being so peaceful, though his look of annoyance from time to time made her smile ever so little.
"I don't have to be concerned about Epel," Lorelei scoffed, "he's nothing. Just a mere commoner who works for me." She walks away from the window and looks at the mirror one last time before leaving her room.
Epel looks down at the well and sighs to himself as he moves the bucket down.
But on her way down, she looked out a window once again to see Epel, rinsing the stairwell, and running out of water. He groaned softly and walked over to the water well, ready to refill it.
It was so long that he started to do chores, mainly scrubbing and dusting, but no matter what, he was so annoyed at everything and small things for revenge made things easier for Epel and his newly distressed state. However, he found some odd solace in Vil and a new hunter named Rook, who always found some food to feed him and clean him in private if necessary.
He was grateful for them, he had to admit. Even the accompanying letters from Jack made Epel hopeful for a new day, a day when he could escape from the chains he was bound by.
He just sighed and started to walk back to the well, in the middle of the gardens. Being by the well again reminded him of his departed mother, and her words whenever they are by the well itself. He looked around at the doves around him.
"Hey," he whispered to the doves, "Wanna know a secret?"
The doves cooed in response, though it made Epel feel crazy, talking to birds.
"Promise not to tell?" Epel smiles.
🍎
We are standing by a wishing well
Make a wish into the well
That's all you have to do
And if you hear it echoing
Your wish will soon come true
🍎
Epel could see his mother by the reflection like she always does whenever she is by the well every time. His hands touch the cobblestone as he starts to sing, and the well reflects his voice.
🍎
I'm wishing (I'm wishing)
For the one I love
To find me (To find me)
Today (Today)
I'm hoping (I'm hoping)
And I'm dreaming of
The nice things (The nice things)
He'll say (He'll say)
🍎
Many hear the beautiful song, even some nearby animals. It always reminded those of the previous queen, whom Epel always seemed to mirror at times, even when he was mischievous and stubborn. Regardless, he's still their prince, no matter what he looks like or what he does.
🍎
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
🍎
From far away, wolf ears perked up from the beautiful song and followed the melody to the wall. Daring to hear the voice once again, he begins to climb the wall, the beautiful voice leading him.
Once he saw Epel, he could only stare and listen.
Epel, however, didn't notice.
🍎
I'm wishing (I'm wishing)
For the one I love
To find me (To find me)
Today (Today)
Today!
🍎
Epel gasped as he saw Prince Jack Howl in the reflection of the water and looked to see Jack across from him. He tripped almost himself from shock, but he managed to keep himself up.
"What are you doing here?" Epel demanded, "You know what will happen if Lorelei finds you. You'll be in big trouble or worse killed."
"Epel,"
Jack's hands held Epel's softly but firmly, stopping Epel from running away.
🍎
Now that I've found you
Hear what I have to say
🍎
Jack held Epel close, as they slowly danced, with Epel tripping from time to time, but he was interested in why Jack was even here in the first place.
🍎
One song, I have but one song
One song, only for you
One heart, tenderly beating
Ever entreating, constant and true
🍎
Epel blushes at Jack's song, feeling his heart beating in love. Epel didn't know how to express it, especially with him being secluded for 3 long years. How to express love when it's completely foreign and forgotten by someone?
Epel just managed to keep in.
The one thing he couldn't keep in was Jack presenting a beautiful scarlet ring to him, putting it on Epel's finger.
🍎
One love that has possessed me
One love, thrilling me through
One song, my heart keeps singing
Of one love, only for you
🍎
Epel looked up at Jack, and then back at the ring. He didn't know what to say, or even how to say it.
Was Jack asking what Epel thought he was? Marriage? Now?
Epel stood in the garden, staring at the ring in his hand. It was a beautiful ring, no doubt, but he couldn't help but feel hesitant about accepting Jack's proposal.
He loved Jack, that much was true. Jack was kind, caring, and always there for him. But the thought of being married, of being tied down to one person for the rest of his life, scared him.
He had always been a free spirit, never wanting to be tied down to anything or anyone. But he knew that Jack was different. He loved him, and he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with him.
But still, the hesitation lingered.
"Hey," he said, taking Epel's hand in his. "Did you look at the ring?"
Epel nodded, still unsure of what to say. Jack could sense his hesitation, and he pulled him into a tight hug.
"What's wrong?" he asked softly.
Epel took a deep breath before speaking. "I love you, Jack. I really do. But the thought of being married scares me. I don't know if I'm ready for that kind of commitment."
Jack listened patiently, his arms still wrapped around Epel. "I understand," he said. "Marriage is a big step, and it's not something you should do if you're not ready. But just know that I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Whenever you're ready, I'll be here."
Epel smiled, feeling a weight lifted off his shoulders. "Thank you," he said, leaning in for a kiss. "I do want to spend the rest of my life with you, Jack. I just need some time to think about it."
Jack smiled back, his eyes filled with love. "Take all the time you need," he said. "I'll be here, waiting for you."
Epel smiles and holds onto the hug.
"But why did you propose to me?" Epel pondered.
"I got suspicious when I came to visit you after the party years ago. When we wrote to each other, you wrote that we should meet in secret after, but you never stated why. But every time I saw you, you looked like you had been crying, or just incredibly tired. Sure, you are still just as rowdy, but I knew something else was wrong. So, I asked Vil," Jack looked at Epel with sadness, "Why didn't you tell me that Lorelei was doing such horrible stuff to you?"
"Even if I did," Epel sighs, "I can't do anything about it. She's queen and if I escape, she'll send her best hunter to find me. Even his son too. I can't risk it, even though I just want to do so much to destroy her and tell the people of the horrible things she has done."
Epel's eyes darkened as he looked up at the window, where her bedroom his. "I want her to suffer, even just for a small bit, just for a day…I want her to pay for what she did to me. Sure, pranks can go a long way and I've been doing thousands, but I want something that could just make her learn that I am not someone who will just sit idly! I am the prince and she reduced me to this."
Jack stopped Epel, holding his hands again. Epel's face was full of rage, but a small hint of sadness. He knew Epel kept so much in and now, there was no one he could talk to about it.
"What about Vil?"
"His mother forbade him from even looking at me," Epel explained, "but he always made me some sort of dinner and had his hunter give it to me. Vil…Vil is vain, but not like his mother, and I'm glad I got to see that before all of this."
Jack made another proposal, "What if we ran away together?"
"Run away?"
Jack nodded, "I will make a vow. Epel, I vow to protect you, and I will make sure my kingdom will protect you as well. You can't live like this, Epel, and I decided to make this decision for you. Will you accept?"
Epel looked at what he was doing, cleaning the stairwell, and looked back at the well. He was practically wasting his life here, and even though his memories of his mother and father were there, that has been tarnished by the wicked woman he once affectionally called his stepmother.
He wanted an escape, and he'll get that.
"Yes," Epel answered, "tonight. Meet me here tonight, and we'll leave to your kingdom."
Jack smiled and gave Epel a small but passionate kiss.
"I'll be here."
"He has done it, Roi du Poison!" Rook announced in delight, " Monsieur Dur à cuire has pronounced his love with Monsieur Crabapple, and they plan to run away. " Rook swooned with a grin, "It was a very romantic thing to witness."
Epel blushed as Jack leaped over the wall, disappearing from his view. He looks back at the well brings up the pale now full of water and begins scrubbing the stairs again, but with a smile and a song.
"Good," Vil spoke, brushing his hair in the mirror, "but this is not over, Rook. You and I both know that."
"Ah, yes, I do know. Père has been keeping an eye on Monsieur Crabapple as well. I do fear that it may result in something bad happening to him, and I would feel immense guilt for it."
Vil looks back at Rook, "Then we should be cautious. Now, go on and leave me be. My mother is very impatient and I hate to be tardy to lunch."
Rook nodded and just like that disappeared off to do who knows what.
Vil could only just take a breath and began his walk to his dining room, now worried for his step-brother. Now he has to figure out how to protect him, even when he is far away.
To Vil's surprise, his mother was not at the dining area, like she was supposed to. She was nowhere to be found, which Vil found suspicious, and not trusting the situation, he went to the throne room. If anything, Lorelei was doing some extra work and forgot the time, it wasn't the first time she had done this.
"I want you to do something for me, my dear huntsman," he heard Lorelei speak, "you are the only person I can trust with this task, and I know you will do this without much hesitation."
"What is that, my queen?"
Vil watched as his mother presented a box, deep red with golden accents around it with a heart as its pin. She held it to the huntsman, her face showing evil intentions.
"You will kill Epel, take his heart, and put it in this box. I do not expect sloppy work from you."
Vil covered his mouth, horrified.
"Your Highness," The huntsman gasped, "Epel is still the prince! You can't just plan to murder him!"
"Enough. If you dare define me, your head might as well be on my stand for everyone to see." Lorelei threatened.
"R-right, your majesty," he gulped.
Vil stepped back and quickly rushed back to the dining area. He was panting, resting by a nearby window. He felt his heart racing, now scared for himself and Epel.
What made the situation worse was that he knew that his mother was not one to kid about something as dark as murder. Plotting murder like it was nothing against Epel, the same person who had lost both parents in such a span that it was upsetting.
He didn't know what to do, other than warn Epel.
Vil jumped as Lorelei and her huntsman walked out. He tried to keep his composure but it was difficult for Vil, knowing his mother's murder plan. So he just sat on the dining table.
He hoped that Rook would come to his aid.
Oh, what a lovely prayer Vil thought as Rook entered, with his usual gradient smile. Vil mentioned him close, so he walked closer and leaned down for Vil to whisper.
"Roi Du Poison, I feel something was amiss so I came right away," Rook spoke. "Now what has happened?
"My mother plans to kill Epel," Vil explained, causing a dramatic gasp from Rook. "She enlisted your father to do the job, and as evidence, he must grab a box and put his heart in it."
"As a prize? Now that is horrible, Roi Du Poison," Rook whispered back, trying to hide his shock.
"I need you to join your father and Epel, protect him. And give him one last message from me." Vil ordered.
"What is that?" Rook asked.
"Run, as far as he could," Vil spoke, "anywhere but not here."
"Of course, your majesty," Rook grinned with a smile, watching his father leave, "I shall depart now, please do wait for me."
Epel found it strange, being outside the palace walls. His hair was combed and dressed in nice princely clothing, something that he didn't exactly miss, but that would've been a lie. Rook even found an old necklace that belonged to his mother before her death, and he wore it proudly as he felt the breeze around him.
Vil smiled as Rook kissed his hand goodbye and followed his father outside.
Sure, he was still accompanied by Rook and his father, but even they could not stop this new sense of freedom he longed for.
"The air is nice this fine day, Monsioer Crabapple," Rook sighs contently, "such beautiful clouds and magnifique flowers, in such a beautiful spring."
Epel rolled his eyes at Rook and began to walk forward. He might just pick some new flowers for his mother and father, as the ones on their graves have been wilted for years and need replacement. He began to pick some flowers, mainly red roses and white lilies, the kingdom's symbol for their strange but romantic love, both on different ends of social status, and their love made it work.
His thoughts were interrupted by a chirp, a very sad one.
He followed to see a sad baby bluebird, picked it up carefully, and smiled.
"Are you ok?" Epel softly whispered, "What happen to you, little bird?"
Epel looked up and got up, "Ah, you must've felt out of your nest, didn't you?" Epel chuckled, found a nearby rock, and began to climb it to the nest, holding onto the branch as he helped the bird back inside, the bird chirping happily and nuzzling against Epel's cheek in appreciation.
"You are welcome," Epel spoke and climbed down.
Epel backed away carefully and watched the baby bird nuzzle against their parents, making Epel feel happy but a tinge of sadness was there.
Once he turned around, he saw The Hunter brandish a dagger towards Epel with inhuman speed. Epel gasped and ducked to avoid the sudden attack. He grabbed a rock and struck The Hunter in his head, defending himself. This made The Hunter stumble back, trying to recover.
"Monsier Crabapple!" Rook called out and rushed over to Epel.
"What is going on!?" Epel demanded, "Your father was trying to kill me!"
"Oh, I did not wish to tell you this," Rook sighed, "but the Queen has asked my father to harm you, to kill you. That why I am here, to lead you away! Far from here, and to safety!"
"What? But-!"
"Go! Please go!" Rook pleaded, making Epel stop for a moment. "It is for your own safety."
Rook gave Epel a basket of food and a lantern.
Epel didn't need more convincing as he began to run away, disappearing into the woods.
"Damn you, boy!" Rook's father hissed, "Do you realize what you have done!? That woman will have your head!"
Epel felt trees grab onto him as he began to run away, the sun now non-existent in the dark woods. His mind felt like everything around him was more monstrous, especially for someone who never left the castle before.
"I rather it be mine than Epel's," Rook spoke back, "and I follow my prince, not the queen."
The hoots of owls and the growls of wolves scared him every time he was distracted. He hated how he felt his heart beat with fear, as he continued to walk through.
But the lack of noise when he went further made him hear whispers, insults, or evil laughs.
It made him run and not look back. He suddenly became overwhelmed and the trees began to grab him again, almost falling into a cliff. Well, he did fall into the lake that he thought was alligators and he was hyperventilating.
He ran before he collapsed and covered his ears.
"Leave me alone!" He screamed, "I Don't want to be here!!"
A scared mewl made him stop.
He saw a small rabbit now scared, because of his screams.
He looked around as the clouds moved away, revealing the sunlight and his surroundings. He was surrounded by animals of every kind, birds, rabbits, dears, turtles. They were all afraid because of Epel's screams.
He sighs, now calming down.
"I'm…I'm sorry," Epel sighs, "I didn't mean to scared you. I just happened to have a bad day and I took it badly. You didn't deserve that and I'm so sorry again. I just wanted to scream because I was afraid, and I don't want to be afraid and look what I did. Scaring animals. What do you do when you are scared?"
The baby bird chirped happily and started to whistle towards Epel.
"You sing?"
The baby bird whistled again with Epel singing along, creating a melody with each other. It made Epel happy as he got up, and walked towards the birds, continuing to sink.
🍎
With a smile and a song
Life is just a bright, sunny day
Your cares fade away
And your heart is young
With a smile and a song
All the world seems to waken anew
Rejoicing with you
As the song is sung
There's no use in grumbling
When raindrops come tumbling
Remember, you're the one
Who can fill the world with sunshine
🍎
He lets the animals surround him and lets him pet them. They were relaxed now and were happy to meet a new friend.
🍎
When you smile and you sing
Everything is in tune and it's spring
And life flows along
With a smile and a song
🍎
"I really feel quite happy now," Epel laughed. "I'm sure I'll get along somehow. Everything's going to be alright, but I do need a place to sleep at night."
Epel realized that was a problem for him, as he looked around at the animals.
"I can't sleep in the ground like you, or in a tree the way you do, and I'm sure no nest could possibly be big enough for me. Maybe you know where I can stay? In the woods somewhere?"
The birds tweeted happily and flew around him, pulling on his cape.
"Oh? Are you taking me there?" Epel grins.
Led by the animals, Epel was shown a beautiful old cottage, with flowers of all varieties covering it.
It made everything for Epel.
He rushed towards it and looked around, seeing the window clouded and not cleaned, and a disgusting smell filled his nose which he covered.
"It looks nice, but it does not smell friendly," Epel coughed as opened the door. Everything was around and full of dust, the mess was everywhere and the smell had gotten worse. He sighed as he entered the cottage and looked for some sort of well…anything, food, drinks, clothing but everything was so disorganized and it was disturbing for Epel.
"Seven little chairs? Are we in a childrens' house? Those poor children, they live in this dump."
He looked at the animals and puffed his cheeks.
"Well, we have to clean this messy place if I am gonna stay here," Epel sighed, picking up the broom.'
He started to hum to himself and he began to sweep. He slowly got carried away as he began to sing to himself, which made the animals around him clean.
🍎
Just whistle while you work
And cheerfully together, we can tidy up the place
So hum a merry tune, hmm-mmm
It won't take long when there's a song to help you set the pace
🍎
Epel whistles as he begins to grab some of the dishes and wash them, with the animals providing soap and water. His humming was contagious as squirrels began to sweep the insides and corners of the cottage, and birds and deer helped them with the clothes, washing and hanging them.
Epel swept again, as more of a finishing touch to the floor.
🍎
And as you sweep the room, imagine that the broom
Is someone that you love, and soon
You'll find you're dancing to the tune
🍎
Epel could only imagine him being with Jack once again like that morning, dancing around, actually having fun.
🍎
When hearts are high, the time will fly
So whistle while you work
🍎
Epel happily cleaned everything around, adding some lovely flowers to the dining table, and decided to create some dinner for himself, some hazelnut soup, and a nice meal after cleaning until nighttime arrived. He was feeling safe and now sleepy.
"I wonder what's upstairs?" Epel questioned, climbing up the stairs.
He saw a nice room with seven little beds with names imprinted onto them, but he couldn't see because of how dark it was. He yawns and feels the bed, immediately sinking. He managed to be comfortable and yawned to himself.
He closed his eyes, drifting up to dreamland as the birds covered him with a beautiful blanket. May the gods above protect the prince from all the horrible things of the world.

Hello everyone! I’ve gotten a lot of new followers recently so I wanted to take a moment and say hi! Thank you so much for checking out my little blog and liking my art! It makes me happy ♡ C:
Very recently I opened an Etsy Shop! I’m definitely still getting the hang of things, but I’m really excited to have a place to showcase my art online in between conventions. Many people left such kind comments on my fruit tigers, so I wanted to share that there are a few available as acrylic keychains in my shop! Each purchase will come with a thank you card featuring the first drawing in the post. I’m hoping to add stickers of the tigers in the future as well. Thank you so much again for your support, and hope you have a great day!

Anyone know why America's sour/green apple artificial flavor makes people cough more when inhaled through candy spray or jolly ranchers? 🍏 I know we have way less food safety regulations than Europe, but what the fuck is in these little bastards that makes that kind of reaction? 💚

#my ex; my partner; & myself all have had this sort of reaction to it#we don't cough every time; but no other flavor of jolly rancher creates that bodily response#is it something in American sour candy artificial flavoring specifically??#Guess ill have to see if they have these in Finland to really properly test this out! a little science experiment of flavoring!#if anyone knows the science behind this; please let me know!#it doesnt feel 'spicy' either so I don't think it's allergies#mine#OP#sour candy#food#jolly rancher#sour apple#green apple#candy

Sour Apple Strawberry Lollipops & Hard Candy
I had to try out the new firefighter candy molds along with some edible glitter. I decided to also try making sour candy for the first time. They are great! The only part I dislike about candy making is having to wrap them up individually.

Sour Apple Prologue: Sweet turned Sour
Once Upon A Time…
There was a king. King Hendrich was lonely, with no wife to call his own. Many had tried to become his wife, but Hendrich was a man who wanted love more than anything else. He believed that love was so powerful in the world, and being a happy king was his ultimate desire, the thing he yearned for more than anything else in the world.
One day, he saw a beautiful maid who was tending to the apple orchard trees. Hendrich knew he had fallen in love with such a beautiful woman, but he feared that she did not feel the same way about him. But to his surprise, the maid approached him one night, as she was tasked to help him with his clothing, and she accidentally confessed to him. She pretended that never happened, but the king laughed as he asked her a simple question: What is your name?
Anne.
That was her name.
And my, it was such a beautiful name for such a lovely maiden as she.
He saw the love in her eyes and realized that he had fallen for her, too. They started spending more time together and getting to know each other's personalities. They shared their hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
Despite their different social statuses, they decided to pursue their love for each other. King Heinrich knew that he had to keep their relationship a secret, but he couldn't stay away from Anne; he loved her so much that it would hurt to stay away from her. He would sneak out of the palace to see her and spend hours talking and laughing with each other. Their love was tested when a jealous courtier who wanted to marry the king discovered their love. King Heinrich had to make a difficult decision, but in the end, he chose Anne, and they lived happily ever after, ruling the kingdom with love and compassion.
Everyone loved them, especially Queen Anne. Despite her royal status, she could be seen helping anyone with anything; everyone admired her. Anne would help the maids pick apples, clean, and much more. She would also read to children in the local orphanage and wave to the people whenever she saw them. King Heinrich was proud to have her as a wife, and they were always in love.
After a few years, The King and Queen were blessed with a son, a young boy they named Epel. They loved their son so dearly as he grew with a big heart like his mother's, and when he was young, he would help around, even minimally. He was also very playful, often playing in the grass and dirty, which always made Anne remind her of herself as a child.
One day, Anne was by the royal garden, watching over Epel. She noticed the well in the center and how pristine it looked even after so many years in the gardens. She got up and walked to it, many memories flowing in of her days as a maid.
"Epel," she called out, "can you come over here please?"
Epel looks over and rushes over to his mother. Anne grins, picks him up, and walks towards the well, watching the water reflect them. She looks around and whispers in Epel's ear.
"Wanna know a secret, Epel?" She whispered. "Promise not to tell?"
"What is it?" Epel gasps.
🍎
We are standing by a wishing well
Make a wish into the well
That's all you have to do
And if you hear it echoing
Your wish will soon come true
🍎
"How…?" gasped Epel, looking at the well.
"Like this, my little sprout," Anne giggles and begins to sing, hearing the echoes from the well come back at her.
🍎
I'm wishing (I'm wishing)
For the one I love
To find me (To find me)
Today (Today)
I'm hoping (I'm hoping)
And I'm dreaming of
The nice things (The nice things)
He'll say (He'll say)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
🍎
Epel couldn't help but stare at his mother, hearing her sing.
Epel has always admired his mother, from her singing to her gentleness and being well-known in town. Epel looks down at the well, looks back at Anne, and starts to sing to the well.
🍎
I'm wishing (I'm wishing)
For the one I love
To find me (To find me)
Today (Today)
🍎
Anne laughs and holds Epel close. "Speldid, my little sprout. Now, let us-"
"Found you," laughed King Heinrich, taking his family into a bare hug, surprising both Anne and Epel.
"Papa!" Epel laughs, "You surprised us!"
"You indeed did, dear!" Anne laughs, "Come, dinner should be ready by now. And afterwards, apple pie!"
"Yay! Apple pie!"
Epel cheered as he rushed into dinner, always excited to eat with his family. But not everything was going to be happy for long, with a tragedy happening at the dinner table.
During dinner, Queen Anne suddenly fell ill.
It was all in the blink of an eye. First, Queen Anne was laughing, and then she fainted.
Everyone at the table was shocked and concerned, and they immediately called for medical assistance. The queen was quickly taken to her chambers, where doctors worked tirelessly to determine the cause of her illness and provide her with the best possible care. The entire kingdom waited anxiously for news of her condition, hoping and praying for her speedy recovery. Despite the uncertainty and worry, the people of the kingdom remained united in their support and love for their beloved queen.
King Heinrich was scared not only for the kingdom but also for his young son. He tried to be brave for his son, but it was hard when the uncertainty of Anne's condition became foggier with every medical exam.
Epel always visited his mother, though, doing everything he could to keep her company when she was bedridden. They would talk about Epel's day, how the apples were growing, and how they would make apple pie when Anne got better.
"Epel, my little apple," Anne laughs, "you always know how to make me feel better after a long day in bed."
"…what's happening to you, Mother?"
"I don't know myself, Epel." Anne sighed sadly. "I wish I could say I know, but I do not. Epel, can you come here?"
Epel looked over at his mother and carefully helped himself onto her bed. Anne let Epel wrap her arms around her son and kissed his forehead. Epel smiled and rested his chest, slowly drifting into sleep in his mother's arms.
Anne didn't want to admit it, but she was very worried for her son. She didn't want to leave him all alone in the world with no one to comfort him and care for him like she did. She knew Henrich would, but he was the king, and he was a busy king, so she sadly knew that he wouldn't care for Epel as she would.
"Epel, promise that you'll be just as strong as you are now. Kind, compassionate, and cunning…so I won't be scared to leave you alone in this scary world. I love you so much, Epel."
She kissed her son's forehead again and slowly rested on her pillow, keeping her son in her arms once again.
Henrich entered the room and saw the sight. He smiled as he picked up his son and tucked him in his bedroom as the night continued. But that was the last time he was ever happy.
As the snow began to drop, Heinrich found Queen Anne on her bed, eyes closed. He went to wake her, but life was gone from her fair skin. Her body limped but still showed a smile on her face, and happiness showed in her sunken face.
He cried by her bedside; Epel watched from the doorway. He could only watch as tears formed and fell, and he knew what had happened. His mother was not with him anymore, and he was alone.
A funeral was held, and her casket was ridden around town, letting the villagers mourn as the king and Prince did. Epel couldn't stop hearing the priest's words when he spoke.
"It is with great sadness that must report that Queen Anne has passed away. Her reign was marked by many great accomplishments, such as her kindness becoming a legacy in her town. Her passing will be mourned by many across the kingdom. May she rest in peace."
Epel immediately ran to the carriage and began to sob, refusing to let go.
No one stopped him, even Heinrich couldn't.
The Prince's cries filled the air as the snow combined with his tears.
Three years have passed since then, and Epel is by her grave again, resting upon it. Every day, he goes and tells her about his day since her passing, hoping she can hear him from the heavens. It is a habit that he can't shake off, but he never tries to stop.
"Epel," called one of the maids, "where are you?"
She sighs and looks over at Epel. But she was appalled by the dirt that stained Epel's prince attire, especially since she was wearing white on that particular day.
"Epel! You are a mess!" the maid gasps and grabs Epel. "Your father is expecting you. And here you are."
"I'm eight years old," Epel defended. "I'm allowed to be dirty."
The maid sighed and wiped his clothes off, trying to get rid of the dirt, muttering to herself. Epel rolled his eyes and fixed his hair, looking up at the clouds as if he knew his mother was watching and currently giggling like she always did in a scenario like this.
"Come now," The Maid huffed. "Your father has requested you."
The maid leads him to the throne, where his father resides. He is on his throne, with an odd smile on his face. Epel finds his father's smile odd, but he doesn't comment on it. He was just happy that his father seemed happy as well,
"Epel," King Hendrich spoke, "I have a special annoucement for us. Please come."
Epel sighed and walked towards the throne, watching as Hendrich kneeled, a hand on his shoulder.
"Epel, you know that I would never keep secrets from you, but on this special ocasion, this was a hard secret to keep. Epel, I am seeing someone, and this someone has made me happy ever since I met her but I do not want you to believe that I am replacing your mother. You know that I will never do that, righ?"
Epel took a moment before thinking of a response. He was bitter that his father kept a secret from him, but he, even as a young child, understood why that secret was kept. Epel may have never forgiven him if his father had found someone quickly after his mother's passing, but he figured they had met recently, according to the way Henrich talked to him about it. And Epel knew that no other woman would replace his mother; his mother was a beautiful and kind woman; who would ever replace her? But that shouldn't stop his father from falling in love again, and he shouldn't stop him either.
"Who is she, papa?" Epel finally asked.
"Her name is Lorelei, a wise young woman I met," Henrich answered. "She and I met in town during our strolls, and she granted us a gift. It was instant between us, and I invited her to the castle to meet you."
"Oh," Epel mumbled, looking away.
"Please be kind to her," Henrich sighed. "I know this may not be easier for you, but I promise if she does something, then I will end it. Nothing is more important than you, Epel."
Epel nods. "I'll be kind, but if she does anything I don't like, I won't like you."
"I know, Epel."
After an hour of waiting, Epel was getting rather impatient. But luck seemed to have it as the castle doors opened to a young maiden and a boy. King Henrich smiled and walked over, holding the woman in a sweet hug. Epel watched but did not move, absolutely shocked.
Lorelei was incredibly beautiful, more than Epel would like to admit. She had beautiful ebony hair that traveled to her waist and porcelain skin that almost reminded him of snow, like his own skin. Her purple eyes were like the violets in the garden, but soon, those eyes met him, causing him to hide behind the wall.
"And is that your son, Epel?" Lorelei spoke softly, "He is very beautiful."
"Epel, come out. You should greet them." Henrich spoke out.
Epel huffed and walked out, looking at the woman and her son.
"Hello," Epel greeted, "I'm Epel. Nice to meet you."
Epel kept firm as the woman and her son stared at him. The son was almost a carbon copy of his mother, but the platinum blonde to purple hair was the only difference Epel could find about him. Everything else seemed to be the same to him.
"Vil, introduce yourself," Lorelei spoke softly. "I did not teach you to be rude."
"Hello, Epel," Vil introduced himself. "I am Vil, Lorelei's son. It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you, Vil. You look pretty," Epel managed to compliment.
"Oh, thank you."
"How about you two go to the gardens while we talk," King Henrich planned, "until dinner is ready."
"That sounds delightful," Lorelei grinned.
Lorelei and Henrich left, leaving Epel alone with Vil.
Epel whistled and looked down at his feet, not knowing what to do. Interacting with other children wasn't unusual. But when he saw Vil, a boy who was much older than him, perhaps only eleven years old, Epel was a little worried.
"Well, what do you want to do, your highness?" Vil asked, looking down at him.
"Well," Epel looked up. "I think the gardens would work for you."
"Lead the way."
Epel smiles and leads Vil to the gardens. Vil thinks it is quite a beautiful garden, and it is very peaceful for him. As they walk around the gardens, they begin to have a pleasant chat, even though Epel gets annoyed when Vil tries to clean himself if he gets himself dirty.
"Favorite activity?" Vil asked as they strolled down the gardens.
"Oh, that's easy," Epel chuckled. "Apple picking. Whenever the apples were fully formed, I would always be the first to arrive to pick the apples to make so many apple desserts, like apple pies and apple tarts. Apple cider for the winter is such a good drink."
"I never had that," Vil admitted. "Though I never had any sugared drinks before."
"Oh, you must! I know how to make it from scratch. I can teach you!" Epel offered, "It's my mother's favorite drink when we go into the snow together."
"You seem to love your mother," Vil pointed out.
"She's the best. I just keep missing her and I don't want to, because my father moved on from her passing but why can't I? My father seems to really love your mother."
"It's alright," Vil comforted Epel. "Grieving is normal, and I don't blame you for missing your mother. By the way, you speak about her; you and she must've had a great relationship." Vil looked at Epel. "How about you show me your apple trees?"
"Awesome! Follow me!!"
Vil gasped as Epel grabbed his hands and rushed towards the apple trees. That's when Epel explained why there was an orchard inside the gardens.
The orchard was a major part of the garden, which wasn't surprising when the kingdom prided itself on its apples. It was all around the gardens, and you could already see chefs plucking the apples from the trees. Some were red, some were green, and even some were a beautiful yellow.
"Wow," Vil gasps. "It's amazing here. Filthy but beautiful nonetheless."
"Yeah, when my mom married my dad, she started to plant every single apple tree, which is from my grandparents' apple farm a little way out of town from here," Epel explained. "I always visit them every summer week. We even wrote letters to each other."
"Really?" Vil pondered, "Was she a farmer when they met."
"One of the best, and my mother would tell me that when they met, she was covered head to toe with dirt, but my father fell for her regardless of her messiness," Epel laughs. "I would want that same thing. No one should judge me based on my beauty alone. I have other things about me, you know."
"Hmm," murmurs Vil, looking at the shiny red apple and seeing his reflection within it. "You must be lucky, very lucky."
Dinner had arrived as the sun slowly flew down, crossing the fields. Epel watched the sun while everyone was eating. His mind drifted into daydreaming as his father talked more and more.
Epel kept looking between Vil and Lorelei when in the theater, trying to think of a conversation, but no opportunities opened up for him. He just stared at his meal, trying not to play with his food while thinking. It was hard to think about it.
"Epel, have you and Vil got along?" Asked Henrich.
"Yes, we got along well," Epel mumbled, playing with his peas."
"Epel, please speak up. You are mumbling which is not polite," Lorelei lectured.
Epel gripped his fork before taking a breath. He shouldn't be angry, it was just her being a mother.
"Yes, we did," Epel looked at her. I showed Vil around the orchard and taught him apple picking."
"Well, that's fantastic, Epel." Henrich smiled. "Now, as for Lorelei and I, we have decided to get married! Isn't that exciting?"
Epel's eyes widen, but he manages to keep a smile. Though he is still unsure how things will go, Epel is just happy that his father is happy once again. But he questioned himself: Was he happy?
"That's great," Vil said. I'm sure you two will be so happy together."
"Yeah," Epel agreed. "Congratulations, Father."
"Thank you, Epel. I'm glad that you have aprove of us." Lorelei smiled.
But Epel didn't know how to smile back. He had to force himself to, but he managed to smile before eating his food, trying to ignore the talks of a wedding in the air.
As spring bloomed, the new couple was married on a blessed day. Flowers bloomed as Henrich and Lorelei celebrated their new marriage, and so did their sons as they danced and ate.
But after a while, Epel left, feeling a tinge of sadness in his heart. With no eyes on him, he left for the graveyard, where he rested upon his mother's tombstone. He was silent for a while, looking up to see a glimpse of his mother playing a beautiful harp, like she always did for him.
"Mom," he whispered, "I feel so confused. Father is happy with Lorelei, and I'm happy that he has found someone but why am I not happy? I suppose it's because I'm not used to you being gone. I love every single that you have done but Lorelei and me? We don't have much similarity other than our love for the gardens, and she has great knowledge of flowers, but I don't feel that connection that we used to have. Should I just learn? If I learn, maybe I can be happy just like father is."
Epel sighs and hugs his knees, and he starts to cry. In the midst of his sadness, he manages to fall asleep, hoping his mother's arms will pick him up.
"Ready?" Henrich grins as he leads Lorelei to the corner of their bedroom.
"My love, what are you giving me?" Lorelei laughed.
"Oh, it's a surprise."
Henrich's hands covered Lorelei's eyes, and she could feel his happiness behind her. A moment later, he uncovered his eyes to reveal a beautiful, pristine mirror. The carvings around them were painted with beautiful gold, and the Mirror showed their reflection.
Lorelei gasps and walks towards it. "It's so beautiful, Henrich, and it's so gorgeous. Where did you get such a beautiful gift?"
"Yeah, I found it at one of the shops and it reminded me of you so I waited until we got wed to give it to you," Henruch blushed. "You deserve to admire yourself, and your beauty."
"Thank you!" Lorelei giggled.
Lorelei hugged Henrich.
"Now, go on. Admire yourself."
Lorelei went in front of the Mirror and did so. She watched how Henrich watched her with so much love as she twirled in the Mirror. She was surprised as she saw her reflection create an odd face. She jumped and looked over at Henrich, who was also shocked. He held his wife close as they examined the Mirror closely.
"It's a magic mirror…" She whispered to Henrich.
"I didn't even know, my love. I apologize if that scared you," Henrich apologized. "The merchant didn't say anything about that. He only said that he found it inside an abandoned castle. Now I wish I had asked even more questions."
"Do not fear me, your Highnesses," the Magic Mirror said, its cold voice echoing in the room. I am here to answer any question you desire. Ask, and I shall inquire."
Lorelei stopped for a moment before gulping, "Do you think that we will be happy together?"
"Of course. Your love is very inspirational to all, and your love will never fall."
"Is there a limit? To what you know?" Henrich asked.
"No. I shall answer any questions, and give you the results. It was my duty pervious and I shall fulfill here." The Mirror answered honestly. "Do not fear, as I do not lie."
"Then, Magic Mirror," Henrich coughed. "Where is my son, Epel?"
"By the gardens by the gravestone of his mother. Poor thing went to sleep and didn't want want to be a bother." The Magic Mirror then showed an image of a sleeping Epel, clothes now full of dirt and eyes swollen with tears. "With his tears now down his face, it is clear what he thought of this fate."
"Again? Lorelei, you don't if I?"
"Of course not."
Henrich rushed out of the room, leaving Lorelei alone with the Magic Mirror. Lorelei gulped as she stepped back, sat down on the bed, and turned away from the Mirror.
"I remember you," Lorelei whispered. "You almost cost me to die when I was simply a young girl, from my own stepmother."
Lorelei turned to the Mirror, hatred in her eyes. "What is your purpose to come here?"
"A simply gift, I answer honesly, and I still say that you are fairest of the land. Your reasons to run is also something that I have collected in my knowlegde. The Prince that have saved you fell for another, and I am deeply sorry about that discovery."
Lorelei's eyes darken at the mention of her ex-husband, the king of a previous kingdom. But she barely said a word to the Mirror.
"Though I do not wish to disclose that information to your new husband."
"Good. You will never disclose that information ever." Lorelei demanded, glaring at the Mirror.
"Of course, your highness."
Two years passed, and it seemed that the marriage was the only good thing that happened to start the new year. Queen Lorelei and King Henrich ruled with a smile in their hearts, as always, but it was clear that people still preferred Queen Anne. Some mean-spirited comments were made about Lorelei, and no one stopped those comments.
It crushed the queen, but she kept her head up.
But it was unfortunately hard as those comments spread around the castle.
Henrich told them to stop many times, but they continued, leaving Lorelei depressed.
Despite her sadness, her sons always lifted her spirits when those horrid comments got to her. One such time was when they were relaxing in the gardens.
"Epel, you should be careful," Vil lectured. You have to make sure they don't break underneath your hands. Making a flower crown is not easy, and these are roses. They are going to bruise your fingers if you are too rough."
"I know, I know," Epel replied sarcastically. "It's not the first time I made a flower crown."
Lorelei laughs. She finds it adorable when they argue about petty things, but their relationship is always fixed after a short argument. Epel did grow stubborn as he grew up, but Lorelei expected it when they met two years prior.
Her thoughts disappeared as she felt a flower crown on her head.
"It's very beautiful," Lorelei approved. "Thank you, Epel."
They continued to make flower crowns together before a small chirp caught Epel's attention. He walked over to the bird, which had fallen from its nest.
"Oh, are you okay?" Epel asked, picking the bird up in his hands. "Where's your nest? Did you fall? Are your wings alright?"
The bird chirped as it nuzzled against Epel's hand.
"I found it!" Epel cheered as he began to climb onto the tree.
Lorelei and Vil watched from afar, with Lorelei being incredibly doubtful, so she turned to her son.
"Vil," Lorelei started, "do you imagine what Queen Anne was like?"
"No, we haven't met her. Why, Mother?"
"I've been watching Epel for two years and I can see such qualities that he got from his mother. Her looks, her kindness, and her bravery. Every time I see Epel, I can't help but see her."
"I indeed do it myself, but that should be taken with a grain of salt, Mother. He may be brave, but he is often very reckless, not to mention very stubborn at times. What brings this up, Mother?"
"Nothing.."
"Are the workers comparing you to her again?" Vil asked.
"Who?" Epel asked, running up to them.
"Mother's having doubts again," Vil explained.
"Again? I thought Father spoke to them about it," Epel sighs, "Mom, you shouldn't listen to them and their comparisons. Sure, my mother is well loved but so are you, and I believe that my mother is so proud of you for taking care of her kingdom."
"Do you think so?"
Epel and Vil nodded and sat next to her again.
"We do."
Lorelei grins as she pats their heads.
"I'm so glad to have such beautiful and kind sons."
The moment was ruined by Epel's sniffling.
"Epel, I knew it." Vil sighed. "You have gotten ill! Come on, I am taking you inside you."
Lorelei giggled and packed everything as Vil pulled Epel into the castle despite his protest. It made Lorelei think of other young children laughing and playing, and maybe it was time for her to start.
But that year had gotten worse when Lorelei announced her pregnancy around the kingdom, which many were excited about, but the happiness wasn't long; as soon as she was close, the child died. Yet to be born, the child was mourned around the castle, dimming the colors of the castle. What made it worse was that the pregnancies afterward caused an unfortunate pattern that they died before they were even born.
It took a toll on Lorelei's health, as she was seen moping around her castle or her room with a cloud of sadness above her head of all time. Even when those times were hard, she was still a loving mother to her sons and a loving wife to Henrich, who has been her stone throughout it all.
Unfortunately, a plague started at that time, affecting many and killing those infected. But the castle was safe until Henrich himself caught in after serving the villagers soup in trying times.
Though it may seem that he was getting better, it ended with him dying one morning by his wife. Lorelei woke up to a pale face and a cold pulse. Her husband was dead, and the kingdom had lost their king.
But Lorelei didn't give herself time to grieve, as Epel was the one who took it the hardest, as he lost his father to an illness, like his mother before him. She felt sorrow for the young boy as she watched him sink and sob when she told the news. The young Prince has become an orphan, his heart broken once again.
Lorelei would make sure that Epel was looked after until he was ready to move on, as did she.
Behind closed doors, her heart begins to cry for her husband, who is not there anymore. She looked at the Mirror as she rushed towards it, her eyes blurry due to her tears, begging the Mirror to answer the question she wanted to scream:
"Why did my children and husband die? When will my pain end?"
"Death is a natural process, Your Highness," The Magic Mirror answered. "But you cannot blame death on misfortune. Misfortune happens to all, and it simply has happened to you."
"I do not need.." Lorelei whimpered.
"You have contracted early signs of the plague in your pregnancy, my queen. The plague soon affected your body permanently, causing you to never have children, even if you try so many times."
"How? How did I get the plague?" Lorelei gasped, sinking to the ground.
"Your stepson was affected, my queen, but many thought it was an illness, and at that point, it was." The Magic Mirror explained. "However, as he grew more and more ill, the plague form as a plague when the winter had started. You and your husband took the greatest care of him, but the damage has been done. For you both, it had dire consequences."
Lorelei's breath left her body as she slumped onto her bed, her cries becoming louder. She remembered that Epel was ill; she even checked his temperature, and it all seemed like a normal illness when he got it, but it was a plague! Epel was the reason that her children never breathed real air and that her husband was in an early grave!
She screamed as tears flowed down her cheeks and dropped into the stone floor, as her sadness turned into rage but she couldn't get off her bed without falling onto her knees.
Lorelei spent her days trying to be the queen everyone remembered, but many noticed how odd she was with Epel. Maybe it was because he reminded her of King Henrich, which many guessed why.
Epel didn't ask, as he understood that her grief may have caused a rift between them. He was feeling it, too. So he kept his distance from Lorelei but planned his days with Vil like they always had, as Vil had truly helped him with the grieving process.
Vil wanted to confront his mother on her mistreatment of Epel, but Lorelei would shut him up if he tried to start it up, dismissing him quite easily. That was when Vil noticed how his mother's heart was hardened and cold.
All he can do is be there for Epel and help him with everything. He was the only one who seemed to care about Epel's well-being, and this strengthened their bond more, with Vil being disappointed by his mother.
The Spring Flower Ball was fast approaching. The Spring Flower Ball is an annual event celebrated during the highlights of spring. One highlight was Epel's birth. King Henrich and Queen Anne started the ball mostly to celebrate the child they loved so much. According to the kingdom, Epel was a blessing, and they always reminded Queen Lorelei of the lovely event.
Lorelei didn't want to celebrate it, but it would affect her image if she didn't. So, to keep the kingdom happy, she planned the ball and made it clear to Epel that he should look presentable.
But Epel never had that request, so now he looked in his Mirror as Vil brushed his hair, finding small twigs and leaves from his earlier activities.
"It must be flattering that you have a ball all about you," Vil conserved. "Such an honor, I might add."
"It's not just about me, Vil," Epel laughs. "It's about the true bloom of spring, where all the flowers start to bloom. We like celebrating spring."
"So much so that you forget and came to me covered in mud?"
"I like playing in the mud," Epel pouted. "It reminds me that I am not a prince most of the time now."
"I see," Vil sighed.
They stayed silent before Vil began to braid Epel's hair into a ponytail.
"Your hair is very soft and beautiful without any stuff in it," Vil sighs. "And you never styled it for special occasions as I have seen in the painted portrait of you."
Epel looks back at the Mirror, trying to smile. "My mother would braid my hair, but without her around, I couldn't care less about it without her around. And I grew to like it when it flows into the breeze when I tumble down hills and have fun with no one to order me around or boss me around like you do."
"Hey, I do that because I'm concerned about you," Vil scoffed. "I mean, you are very beautiful for someone who's about to turn eleven tomorrow."
"It's not much of a compliment when you hear it repeatedly," Epel mentioned. "But what did I expect from people? They just see you for your beauty and nothing else."
"I get it." Vil nodded. "I had my fair share of half-assed compliments when I was a young boy, and it didn't help much when you are the son of the fairest woman of all the land."
"Fairest?"
"My father always called her that." Vil explained. "At the time, I never understood why. Why was the word fairest used so much to describe mother? But I learned it was about her beauty, and I still don't know how to feel about it."
"I would rather call her beautiful," Epel speaks. "But that's my opinion."
Vil finishes with Epel as he decorates his hair and helps Epel into his suit.
"Ready?"
"Nervous if I'm honest."
"People will adore you, Epel. They are celebrating the reason why the flower bloomed in the spring." Vil smiles, looking at Epel.
Many guests greeted Epel, and at that point in the night, Epel could not remember who was who or how many people greeted him that night. So he just sat down by the dining tables, watching the people dance to the music, the music he remembered enjoying with his mother and father as they danced together.
Epel didn't want to celebrate now his parents were gone. Why celebrate something important to you when the people who made it special were gone? And Lorelei didn't even make it better.
Lorelei made the ball boring, as most people were dressed elegantly. In the past, many were dressed in plain clothes per young Epel's request, as a boy who hated his princely clothes. The king and queen honored his request and made it clear that it was for their son and their son alone. But in this, it felt more like a typical ball that Epel tends to avoid.
But before him was a hand, a hand belonging to a prince that Epel had never met before. But something about him made Epel take his hand carefully.
"I'm Prince Jack," the boy introduces himself, his wolf ears twitching.
"You already know who I am," Epel moped.
"I have. I saw you alone and I thought that we should…maybe get to know each other?"
"It depends on what you do for fun." Epel answered.
"Playing outside. It's still pretty bright out there and we should play. I heard that you like playing in dirt."
"A lot. I would roll down the hills!"
"Come on then," Jack grinned and sneaked Epel off the party to the gardens.
Epel looked around and began to follow the wolf prince into the gardens.
Epel finally felt like he was celebrating his birthday the same way he had always done: messing around and having fun with the people who wanted to celebrate with him.
He rolled down hills like a champ, and he even made Jack join him in the activity.
It began a game of hide-and-seek in the gardens, with Jack trying to find Epel, trying not to use his scent, as Epel called it cheating. As he hid, a wandering Epel found the old well his mother used to sing in, which made him go to it, look down into it, and begin to hum to the song his mother used to sing to him.
The song alerted Jack to Epel. He couldn't help but stare as Epel continued to hum and slowly vocalize. The well echoed his voice into the air, not caring about who heard.
"Wow," Jack mumbled.
Epel jumped and looked away, embarrassed.
"That was embarrassing," Epel muttered, "I haven't sang in ages and I did it in front of you and I'm sorry that I.."
"You are very pretty," Jack blurted out but covered his mouth afterward, noticing that Epel was blushing. "I'm sorry, please pretend you didn't hear that!"
"Even if I'm covered in mud?"
"Hmm?"
"You think I'm beautiful even when I'm covered in disgusting mud full of germs and worms?" Epel repeated.
"Yes…even full of mud," Jack answered. "I mean…."
"Thank you."
Jack's tail began to wag, which Epel found cute. He walked over to Jack and grinned as he tagged him.
"Tag! Your it!" Epel called out, running away from Jack, laughing.
Jack gasps and laughs. "Get ready! I'm ready to get you!"
The day continued as Jack began to chase Epel in the game of tag, no matter if mud dampened their clothing. They were two princes having fun on a very special day.
"Where did he go?" Gasped Lorelei, as she pranced around the hallway. "I hope Epel didn't sneak off again."
"I'm sure they didn't run far," coughed King Wolftin. "My boy, Jack, doesn't run off without much of a reason."
"Your Highnesses," coughed a maid. "We have found the young princes."
"Where?" Asked Queen Minerva.
The maids led them into the orchard, where they found Jack and Epel cuddling. They saw Epel napping against Jack's now-wolf form, cuddling him, and Jack keeping Epel safe with his tail.
Despite the relief, the boys did get lectured about it when Lorelei and Jack's parents found them. But Jack and Epel kept looking at each other as they were lectured, laughing to themselves.
"I am so disappointed, Epel," Lorelei groaned, "to think a prince like you would just leave and cause a mess. I am truly sorry for his behavior, I thought we taught him better."
"Oh, no worries," Wolftin sighed. "Our Jack is very outgoing and jumpy. You know, wolf genes."
"I understand," Lorelei spoke.
"Papa!" Jack called out. "Can I come here again? I like Epel."
"Oh? Do you?" Minerva asked.
"Yeah! He's fun and outgoing, and we had a blast outside! Papa, Mama, I want to be with Epel!"
"In what sense, my boy?"
"I want to marry him!" Jack announced. "I want to marry Epel one day!."
Everyone gasped at Jack's sudden proposal, but Lorelei saw her world crash as soon as those words left Jack's mouth. Her horror was unnoticeable over the laughs and cheers of the people around her.
She tried to keep her composure and faked a smile as she laughed along. "Your son has a funny sense of humor," she said.
"Indeed he does," Minerva laughed.
The party was soon over, and everyone went to sleep for the night.
Lorelei sat on her bed, just looking in the Mirror. She could only just stare in hate, as she knew if Epel were to marry, he'd be king immediately, ignoring everything she worked so hard for. She couldn't even think about what she wanted anymore, as she felt her world crumble down, all because of her stepson.
"I want to understand."
"You already do, your Highness," The Mirror spoke up, "You already know what you must do. You just need him out of your way."
"I can't do that," Lorelei whispered. "Henrich wouldn't approve of this."
"But you are the queen now. You are the rule."
Lorelei stared at the Magic Mirror.
She knew that they were right, and the Magic Mirror was always right.
"Magic Mirror on the wall," Lorelei shakily spoke. "Who is the fairest of them all?"
"Though all my years and my hardships as you fall, It seems that Epel Felmeir has become the fairest of them all. With his purple hair that reminds them of beautiful lilac in the spring, eyes that reflect the beautiful ocean, and skin fair as the snow that falls in winter. Epel has even out-prettied you, my lady."
Lorelei hissed, "I knew it."
"What do you plan to do, my queen?"
"I'll do anything as I am Queen again and this time, no one will replace me as the fairest of them all!"
🍎
It all started on Epel's birthday. As they returned from a birthday picnic as planned, Epel found out that his door was locked from the inside, even though he had no recollection of locking it beforehand.
For that, Lorelei sent him to sleep with the maids until a royal locksmith could come over and unlock the door for him. It was odd, but Epel liked the maids, so he never complained that much about it. He did help the maids as compensation for letting him stay with them in the first place.
But once Vil's trusty new friend, Rook, unlocked the lock, they found out that Epel's room had been emptied; not a single thing of Epel's was left.
Epel, full of rage, immediately tried to find Lorelei, which he did in one of the towers.
"What are you doing? Emptying my room?" Epel demanded, "You have no right to! You may be queen but that doesn't excuse this… travesty."
"You are right, Epel," Lorelei grins, "How shameful of me, as a queen. But I simply needed..more room in the castle."
"More room? We have plenty of room." Epel protested.
"Not for a common boy such as yourself." Lorelei looks back at Epel. "No, such a commoner belongs to a dirty old room, full of bugs and rats. Each part should reflect who you are, Epel. A dirty commoner who should've never become a prince!"
"What the hell are- Let go of me!" Epel screamed as Lorelei pulled into the room and pushed him down onto the stone floor.
"A spoiled brat like you should never be a prince, and as long as you are under my rule..you are no longer Prince Epel."
The door slammed, leaving Epel to try to open the door, screaming at Lorelei and demanding he be let out of the tower room. He already felt claustrophobic in the room as he finally dropped onto his knees and sobbed.
"What has become of you, Mom?" Epel sobbed. "What have I ever done to deserve this?"
He sobbed until the night arrived, and the stars were the only thing that could calm Epel's sorrow.
