You’re just finishing up your shift at the bar when they walk in. Javi and his girlfriend—your ex and his new plaything. They take a seat toward the end of the bar, and you can only guess Javi hasn’t spotted you yet, because he would have turned around and walked back out that door if he had. 

You walk up to them like you would any other customer, and ask what they’ll be having. You have to resist a smirk when realization dawns on Javi as he hears your voice. It’s one of your favorite things to see the fear in his eyes as he turns to you. His new girl is none the wiser. 

You would feel bad if it was the first time, or the second, or the third. But it’s not. You’ve lost count, now, of how many times Javi’s tried to move on just to run right back to you. All it takes is one look, and he’s clawing at your apartment for more. 

You leave quite the impression, after all. It’s hard to forget. 

The poor, young girl next to him orders her drink, and you get Javi his usual whiskey despite his tongue being in a knot. You wonder how long this one will last as you set the drinks down in front of them. If she’s smart, you can only bet she’ll want forever. You know you did. 

Javi nurses his whiskey as the girl talks away, but you can tell he’s somewhere else. Probably remembering the way you look in his clothes after a good night, the smell of you on his sheets. 

And when they finally leave, she leans in to kiss him. She probably doesn’t realize that it’s your lips she’s feeling on his, your taste lingering on his tongue. She likely has no idea that whatever he whispers in her ear that makes her laugh as they turn the corner, came from your mouth first. Sure, she’ll be tasting you, but he will be, too. And soon enough, you know he’ll be back for more.
