Michael "Mick" David Afton, 1969-???

be warned it gets kinda sad :(

mentioned this in the henry post but fredbear plush was originally custom made for him!! it was given to billy when he was born (mick was 7) because michael was 'too old' for toys like those. this sparked his aggressive behavior towards his siblings

mick went through a lot of mild neglect because his parents were caught up in either work or his baby siblings, so he acted out a lot :(

he's actually very sensitive and gets embarrassed about things easily! 80% of the art i made for him are just him looking shy or embarrassed/being flustered over something

he used to play baseball in high school and has a metal bat with his team's signatures on it :) he also did wrestling so he's not weak

mick is actually built for endurance more than anything. he doesn't always win physical fights but he does tough it out until he physically can't anymore or until the ohter person gives up/surrenders

he's very forgiving and apologizes a lot :( he doesn't want people to hate him. this came after 83 when his parents (especially his mother) blamed him for everything

speaking of 83, michael felt very isolated and alone between then and somewhere in the fall of 84. he developed guilt nightmares after the accident. more about his nightmares here. edith took billy and divorced william in june 84 before father's day and mick's 15th birthday. the only gift he got was edith sending the fredbear back (either because billy passed away [main au] or he didn't want to look at it anymore [survives!AU]).

abandonment issues

michael was known as the kid who killed his brother in sophomore year :( foxy bully mike but at what cost

pierce (see here for michael's friends at the time) took advantage of mick's forgiving nature a lot in high school and is a main reason michael's very embarrassed about things and feeling how he feels abt things

jeremy's his best friend and michael loves him 2 death. theyve been each other's biggest support systems.

jeremy also helped mick become confident and comfortable w himself (mick dealt w a lot of int. homophobia despite being friends w/ a number of lgbt people in HS— always scared his dad would find out)

the goonies and bill & ted's excellent adventure are his favorite movies!!!!!

he replayed mario brothers on NES quite a few times and got his dad into it (see here)

he rly loves the beatles too :-)

henand his father actually. kinda reconcile in the later 80s. michael forgives him a little too quickly. unfortunately this is when william's mental health began to decline rapidly. he confessed everything to michael before disappearing suddenly in 1995 and becoming springtrap. michael wants to find his father.

michael moved out of the house in 1990 and lived with jeremy in his apartment from there on

he got scooped in maybeeee the mid-late 90s im not sure yet

rarely smiles, but it's one of those shy, soft ones. it's still an afton smile, but a lil crooked. he gets that from his mother

he also doesn't laugh much. he's just shy and quiet

mick painted his nails black as a teenager 👁👁 gayass

he can play bass guitar!! he was taught by jeremy. he retaught jeremy after they found out he forgot how to play as a result of the bite
