Super Mario RPG playthrough diary - 30

Now down to the volcano we go, children.

From the cloudy Nimbus Land where they make their homes in thorns from Bean Valley, to the sweltering-hot Barrel Volcano where you could roast marshmallows in the very air around you - from Heaven to Hell, I might add.

Look, the lava doesn't even hurt Mario! He's A-okay, all that happens is that you have to try the challenge again.

Oh, I just realized - you have to hold A the whole time to be able to properly use Geno Blast and Geno Flash!! It's just that I suck eggs at the game, being my first RPG that isn't poker mens or Miitopia.

...Also, is it just me or am I a bit overleveled? Is Smithy himself gonna be a cakewalk compared to other playthroughs?

So after a nice coast through the harmless lava depths, we meet Cinder Toad.

I was right when I guessed they'd change Hinopio's then-unchanged-from-Japan-version name to something heat-related but also Toad. But I guessed "Hottoad", so I guess that's a half-truth.

Between the Nether sprouting Mushrooms and two colors of Fungus and this, I'd say the world of video games discovered a rare species of lava mushrooms that grows in volcanos.

Life must be hard at Cinder Mart - he has to manage three stands at once and you need to sleep on a bunch of wooden boxes.

On top of that poopcrust, it took me a bit too long to realize that the way forward is on the other side of Cinder Mart. The alternate path close to the start just gets you more Flower Points to use.

After that is the Czar Dragon Queen Nimbus told us to watch out for.

He has little Helio friends to help him out this time - a trick I think is new.

If you beat him enough, he'll turn into Zombone.

A fun trick you can do to Zombone, whom I never noticed had an outfit in his original sprite until a few days ago, is that he feels a bit of pain, not much, on contact with Pure Water, a known zombie-and-ghost repellant.

There we go, the Red Star Piece...

Ok so basically about that comment about the human flower. So that girl is in the visual novel game Your Turn To Die (you've probably heard me talk abt it before, definitely seen me post and reblog abt it I am going insane over it,) and she's called Kanna, and in one of the routes of the game she dies.

So because they're in a death game (self explanatory imo), all participants have these collars on them and they uh. They can do a lot of things! They act as a sort of way to keep anyone from stepping out of line, and in some cases can be used to kill people. One guy called Mishima got his head straight up burned off his body because it heated up to a ridiculous degree (what a unique way of beheading someone!) and they can also explode! Neat! Anyways when Kanna dies in the route she dies in, her collar plants these specific seeds in her that rapidly grow in her body and turn her into a human flower. It is extremely painful. Like. The game is done with drawn sprites and pixel art but god it was pretty horrifying to watch unfold. And if you thought that was bad she uh. She is also a lil twelve year old!

Sorry for the late reply, I had to gather all of my info on this OC XD His name is Bluebell and I made him with @dremyink06 as a part of an original story called The Bluebells Sound Death, or TBSD for short! (I sometimes call it the Bluebell Saga, since the sequel is called Sunflowers Spring Forth Day)

I'll put brief summary of it under the read more!

The Bluebells Sound Death is set in around the 80s probably, Ink and I haven't fully decided on the date.

The main character is Sun Fowler, who is from a wealthy family and lives in a mansion surrounded by a lush garden he looks after. He finds that his prized bluebells keep getting eaten, so he asks his mother, Rossette, what animals would eat bluebells. He soon finds out bluebells are poisonous and goes out to figure out what had been eating his bluebells.

He soon comes across a guy lying down in his bluebell field, hiding from him. They introduce themselves and he finds out Scilan Dumort, some random guy who lives next door, has been eating his bluebells as his late mother told him that it would heal him. By the fact that he wasn't dead yet, Sunflower believes him. and invites him over for a proper dinner.

They find out they go to the same school and become very good friends, along with a girl at school named Poppy. Both Poppy and Sun nickname Scilan, Bluebell, thanks to his love for eating bluebells.

Eventually, Sun learns that Bluebell has had a curse since birth thanks to his parents' knowledge of witchcraft. They died to the curse while Scilan has a few years to live. The bluebells act as a remedy and keep him from dying but he didn't even realise he had a curse. His mother had simply advised him to eat bluebells every day.

Not only was he just a weird person in general, but Bluebell was constantly bullied for being gay. Late in the story, he confessed to Sunflower, but Sunflower mistook the confession as a joke and got arrogant about it. Heartbroken, Bluebell took the lonely path home. But, he began coughing out flowers on the way and he soon falls. Sunflower ran after him to actually say that he loved him but found Bluebell dying in the bluebell garden. Sun mourned his death. As they say goodbye Bluebell tells Sun to feed him a bluebell but Sun refuses, thinking there would be a way to fix this. In the end, Bluebell eats it and passes soon after.

Luckily, Bluebell comes back later as a ghost thanks to their strong love. But, he is completely covered in bluebells thanks to where he died and from eating bluebells. But don't worry, they live happily together :D

The blue haired guy is him as a ghost in Miitopia with his friend from another original series! (And me in the top left and Ink's OC Morty in the top right XD)

This all started out as a Caejose Hanahaki RP that spiralled way out of control! I actually have the original version of the Hanahaki AU written out, but it was when Ink and I were new to the fandom so I'd like to rewrite it someday.

I also wrote a song for this series! Maybe I'll post it sometime? Who knows XD

Oh, I see your new title! Okay, tell me about Mitsuo. Anything you want, your headcanons, AUs, canon, or anything else, here's your rambling free pass!

THANK. YOU. You are a life saver. I have wanted to ramble about this stupid boy for SO LONG.

I’ll try not to ramble for like, ridiculously long, but also I really can’t predict how long it’ll end up being in the end. But where do I begin…?

I’d say I have quite a few Mitsuo AUs, the first one that comes to mind is a one off one where he’s an Imp, absolutely inspired by my partner’s Miitopia game, where Mitsuo is an Imp. I really love Imp Mitsuo in that game, he’s a little brat and he causes problems on purpose and I just adore it, it kickstarted my third wave of Mitsuo Love. It would he fun to do something with this AU but I haven’t thought of much by myself. I do know he usually comes out of hiding in Inaba around nighttime and steals stuff, because again, he’s just a little troublemaker. Narukami tries to befriend him, because it’s Narukami, and I can’t NOT create an AU where they aren’t involved with each other somehow.

I guess that’s another thing I’ve been brainrotting over, not explicitly Mitsuo, but him and Narukami as a ship. Can I call the ship Mitsuyu? I’m gonna call it Mitsuyu.

I really really like this ship. I really love the idea of Narukami trying to befriend Mitsuo because of how he’s portrayed to try and befriend literally everyone, I love the idea of him being the only one with enough understanding and compassion and empathy to get close with Mitsuo and really learn about him. I like how in game Narukami’s willing to go up to Mitsuo on the street and just listen to him ramble, and I feel like Mitsuo has no one to talk to aside from Narukami, so whenever he gets the chance, he just goes on and on and on, and Narukami’s willing to listen. I think he’s got a lot of things swirling around in his head, he could ramble for hours.

I’m worried this ramble is just gonna turn into one about Mitsuyu now, lmao.

Imagine how they’d interact in the Imp Mitsuo AU… Mitsuo would probably be a little shit. Like, he’d just completely mess around with Narukami all the time, maybe be a little flirty sometimes. He’d probably be genuinely surprised when Narukami keeps coming back to talk to him through it all. Next thing he knows, he’s got a genuine friend, and oh no, he’s catching feelings! Because let’s face it, Mitsuo would definitely catch feelings first, I think.

They’d probably hit him like a slap in the face. I think Narukami would come to a more gradual realization of his feelings. He’d be better at hiding them compared to Mitsuo too - Mitsuo’s probably painfully obvious. To clarify, I’m not strictly talking about Imp Mitsuo here, I mean EVERY Mitsuo from any AU I discuss that includes Mitsuyu.

Narukami would be really good for Mitsuo. I already have a post about Mitsuo headcanons, I believe, though I can’t remember if I listed off the headcanon of him being neglected. Couple that with him being ignored or belittled by everyone else around him because of his looks, it’s no wonder he’s so desperate for attention he’d kill a guy. Also sometimes I wonder how he managed to kill Morooka AND hang his body on a roof. He’s still in high school, y’know? Weird boy. But I digress.

Narukami would give him all the attention he’s been craving for so long. Praise, hugs, kisses, all the soft stuff Mitsuo didn’t realize he really needed until he got it. I think Mitsuo would cry when he gets to cuddle Narukami for the first time. Narukami would soothe him, too. I just want them to be soft, Mitsuo needs it.

It’d take a while, but I can see Narukami’s existence in Mitsuo’s life affecting him drastically, by that I mean holy shit Narukami, you just prevented a murder. Narukami would kill away Mitsuo’s feelings of emptiness, he wouldn’t feel like he’s nothing anymore, because he matters to Narukami. As long as he’s around, Mitsuo isn’t nothing. He feels he finally has a purpose.

I also can’t remember if I mentioned this in the Mitsuo headcanons post, but I don’t think Mitsuo would care what you label his gender as, maybe. Not much to it, he just doesn’t care. Maybe he secretly gets happy when someone refers to him with pronouns that aren’t he/him for once. He’s not good at hiding it in front of Narukami, I bet. Narukami likes to frequently switch his pronouns around just to see him smile. Mitsuo doesn’t smile very often, so Narukami cherishes it.

I used to think of Mitsuo’s in-game sprites as completely unflattering, at least, compared to how he looks in the P4 anime. He’s really cute in the anime. But I’ve gotten so fond of him that I actually think his smiling sprite is cute now. Like, when you can talk to him in the shopping district and he’s rambling about the murders, you have the option to either agree or disagree with what he says. When you agree, he smiles. And it totally gets to me. Not only does no one talk to him, I bet barely anyone ever agrees with him on things, either. I can’t imagine how happy he might feel to have someone engage with him for once and actually agree with what he says.

There’s so much untapped potential with Mitsuo, it’s so sad. The most you get of his backstory is through his dungeon, and through talking with NPCs around town about him, and thats about it. It’s a shame that Atlus didn’t flesh him out as much as the other characters. Seriously, through his attention seeking nature alone, there’s so much potential backstory there. What he’s already got is fine, it’s okay, but he could’ve gotten so much more. And most people brush him off because of his looks, too, so there’s really not much Mitsuo fan content out there to consume, along with the small amount of official Mitsuo content that exists.

I think a social link with him would be really cool, but with how everything fits together in P4 like a puzzle, it would never work out without heavy planning and modification. Might be a cool mod though.

I think his dungeon is great, and I love how one floor is the exact same as a floor in Adachi’s dungeon because he’s a mock killer. I like it visually, and I LOVE his dungeon theme. I was so angry when I heard it for the first time because goddamn, it was criminally catchy. I love his boss fight too. He needs to hide behind a video game character, a shield, to pretend to be strong and courageous and mature, when he’s really just a weak, cowardly child with (most likely) an overinflated ego. I like how the dialogue progresses into madness the farther you go into his dungeon, I like the first dialogue of Mitsuo getting “knocked down” by Morooka to represent him getting expelled. Even though there’s not much of it, the stuff in P4 relating to Mitsuo is all really cool and really fascinating.

I think it’d do wonders for his character just seeing more cutscenes with him in them. Like, before Morooka’s murder, you can see him in the background of some of Yukiko’s s-links, stalking her. Maybe it shows a cutscene of him rambling to Rise that one time, or it shows him angrily running out of Marukyu Tofu when the boys go there for the first time, cuz he was being ignored. Maybe there could be a simple cutscene of him being lead into the interrogation room by Adachi and then being pushed into the TV because YES, I AM STILL SALTY THAT HE IS THE ONLY VICTIM WITHOUT A CUTSCENE. I know the lights were off, but… C’mon, Atlus, doesn’t that just make your job easier…?

And look at that, I STILL ended up rambling about Mitsuo for too damn long. So sorry about that, but seriously - thank you for giving me the opportunity. It’s not very often that I get to talk about him, so I really just indulged in myself here. And sorry if the formatting is weird, or if the progression doesn’t make sense etc. I practically started speaking my mind, just seeing where that would take me. And it took me all over the place :’)

3: 1-3 games you’ve played in the past 12 months that you really enjoyed

its.. its been mostly pokemon. but, splatoon 3, pokemon usum/sm ( ive been playing moon and ultra moon side by side ) and uhhh.. what else... oh! bugsnax is very fun. Play bugsnax. ( honorable mentions; miitopia is very fun and has a lengthy(?) main and postgame, and chicory: a colorful tale is good and underrated pleaaase play it. )

11: Do you prefer ‘blank slate’ main characters you make yourself or otherwise project onto, or characters with a set personality and backstory?

this ones long, sorry. anyways, honest to god i mostly just remake my ocs in 'em. mocha and pink are the usual choices for oc-inserts into any game with character customization - stardew, terraria, pokemon games with customization, lobcorp technically with custom sprites, i sometimes cosplay them in ACNH or splatoon 3, etc. i don't actually own that many games that allow you to customize characters which is a damn shame bc i love any game that allows for it and i need more, there just isnt a super easy way to find them. mocha ( alter ) also likes. ones that have that and romance because hes sappy.

actually speaking of the pokemon games with customization, on a first playthrough of a pokemon game ( or on the main savefile now that the switch is a thing and you can actually have multiple saves by technicality ) i will just make the protagonist myself, usually just named aria. its what i've done since they added customization in x/y. and then in replays, i'll do the oc thing and make specific oc teams and naming themes that fit that oc ( eg, mocha having a lot of coffee or food named pokemon. ) i also do this in games that dont have customization like bw/bw2, its just a little less fun since i cant customize anything.

current ones im actively doing with that rn are scrap in pkmn moon and bit in pokemon ultra moon, along with mocha in another playthrough of pkmn violet. ( he found a shiny nacli???? which fits bc. hey. food pokemon. he named it after some yellow or orange seasoning i forgot the name of since its shiny makes its salt orange-y. it might've been amarillo? )

it also uh works cuz these people r. in my head. cuz. cuz DID. i can get input from them or they can play it themselves if they want. yahoo.

if the game has very limited character customization but you do play a character like for example bugsnax where you can only change the fur but you are playing as someone unique in a sense, i usually will think abt it later and make an oc out of it if i have the time or energy. i don't think abt my "buddy" in bugsnax much, but i should.

20: A boss you think is really cool

god, i do NOT think abt bosses often bc most of the games i play like. have them? but not in a traditional sense.

hm. anyways horrorboros ( splat 3 salmon run ) bc its the easiest king salmonid and i just really like the gimmick of its fight ( WAYYY more than cohozuna fuck cohozuna ). there's also been a good chunk of times where the timer is a few seconds away but me or someone else gets the final hit in JUST in time ( see here ) and its just fun.

my primary switch has broken, and now i'm finishing miitopia switch on my switch lite(thank god for cloud backup saves) i love miitopia so much good dear lord, but i hope that my primary switch comes out of repair safe and sound!!!! i am so worried for her.

i've mentioned my boyfriend before on this awful website, and god do I love him. He's so nice and he deals with my chaotic tendencies. people don't usually tolerate me being like "i'm gonna play mario kart to ruin a young childs day >:)", so having my boyfriend tolerate me being a horrible human being makes me feel very happy :)

AH FUCK I JUST GOT A SHITTY HEADACHE. "THANK YOU" GODS OF TUMBLR FOR PUTTING ME IN PAIN ONCE AGAIN FOR ANOTHER ONCE OF THESE

-palo port is overrun with the thieves... no, soldiers of the Ravus Nation -they're stealing shit from everyone -once our group lands down there a dude gives them the all-clear to head in. dude stares right at therion, a well-known ex-ravus thief, with blank and empty eyes -dude literally just did not recognize therion, who's infamous amongst the thieves guild for his brilliant exploits -therion is very very confused about this -he asks dude about alfyn. dude does not even vaguely recognize the name of the heir to the "Ravus Nation" -he asks dude about cordelia, and the same thing occurs -therion decides he isn't gonna press his luck here, so he moves on with the rest of them -ophilia is very uncomfortable here, she does not get a good vibe from this place -therion assures her that they'll get out of here soon enough. all they need from here is some equipment, food and rest -primrose mentions how she needs to destroy the people who dared lay a finger on her little sister, and therion tells her that they're not bad people, though the man who orchestrated the whole nation thing is a complete and utter asshole -she demands to know more, and he brushes her off. he isn't ready to talk about it quite yet -before they leave, they see tressa with that same lost look in her eyes. primrose is crying in relief -prim tells her all about her travels and how much she's missed having her around. tressa looks at her weirdly and walks off, telling a Ravus soldier about how weird this stranger is -prim is not ok after she hears this

-they leave palo the following day, and make their way to Ravus territory in hopes of finding the elemental -ophilia is looking forward to forgetting palo port even existed in the state it's in -the soldiers have to be under some kind of spell! there's no other way that they're acting so weird around people they've known for years -cyrus agrees. magic is the only logical explanation for this -memory loss does not occur in such a short amount of time naturally -therion mentions that the mastermind for the ravus nation has been studying dark magic for years, so it doesn't sound too far-fetched -primrose is seething with rage at this point. this bitch has the a u d a c i t y to make her little sister forget how many times they've attempted to make food for their father together and ended up on the floor laughing, flour all over their faces? -of the times she's had to soothe her sister when she got mocked for having everything be "handed to her on a silver platter"? -ma'am is pissed

-they end up in a flower field somehow, and the flowers there(this is literally an important plot point in trials of mana) work as a one-time horse tranquilizer -i shit you not -so for plot convenience, all of our beloved idiots all pass out together here -i love trials. it's so fucking dumb

-primrose wakes up first -when yusufa is at her bedside she covers her eyes -this has to be a nightmare -she'll ask her why she left her behind again, blood flowing out of her eyes as she screams -and yet the only thing that came out of her mouth was words of support -yusufa missed primrose -she swore prim was dead and she missed her so much -this time, blood never fell from her eyes

-yusufa explains that most of the people from Azelharts army managed to escape due to her brigades efforts -those who hadn't escaped had died or were forced into sex slavery thanks to the ravus nations leader heathcote and his second-in-command, darius -primrose is glad that some of them managed to escape, though the ravus nation will pay for what they've done to her people and for how they've harmed tressa -the rest of the squad wakes up and is very confused, so yusufa leaves primrose to explain shit to them -when she's done with it, yusufa needs primrose in the meeting room so they can plan an assault on the Ravus Nation

-therion wakes up in a jail cell. he is surrounded by ravus nation soldiers -none of these people are even vaguely functioning -they're all staring at the floor with a dead expression in their eyes - he walks up to the cell door and asks why he's being held here -the Azelhart guards are scared shitless -"wtf he isn't just. zoning out in the back??? yusufa???????????" -yusufa is also very confused -therion's like "I get imprisoned by my own people, and now I'm imprisoned by a bunch of women for... no discernible reason" -"can people stop imprisoning me, please. i want peace" -yusufa finds out the truth regarding therion, so she grabs him by the back of his shirt like you'd carry a cat and goes up to primrose -"ma'am you dropped this" -and then yusufa plops therion down on the ground like a cat who ate someones rose bushes

-trials of octopath is todays awful fusion idea

-for those of you unaware of trials of manas existence, it's a lot like octopath(and vice versa). trials is a game where you pick 3 characters out of 6 possible options to play as, and the story changes drastically depending on who's in your party. im' gonna have to cut a couple of the octopaths to fit this AU, but i'll be putting them elsewhere- you'll see them eventually

-i'm not even getting into story pairs! every two characters in trials of mana has the same final boss. if you put two characters together who have the same story(say, the fighter/duran or the mage/angela), it gives more information on those characters and their shared story.

-we have olberic the fighter(replacing duran) first. after an invasion of his home, he trusts erhardt with protecting it while he chases after the perpetrator

-then there's cyrus the mage(replacing angela)- he is the prestiged son of a famed scholar. he cannot use the same powerful magic his father could, and thus is chosen to be executed by him. cyrus unleashes enough magical power to teleport out of that situation(this happens in-game), and runs away to seek guidance from the Archbishop of the Church of the Sacred Flame.

-now we have therion the thief. he is a close friend of the leader of the Thieves Guild of the Ravuses, a man known as Heathcote. Darius, an "old friend " of his, saved Heathcotes life from being missing. this results in Heathcote acting very weird from the day he returns- at least, if you ask therion. Heathcote has never expressed the want to start a nation and invade another country until now! he gets help from Heathcotes son, the doctor of their group, to find out what's going on with Heathcote. It turns out... that Darius is using mind control to manipulate Heathcote to follow his bidding. man come on therion was just starting to not punch you in the face every night just when you were about to fall asleep again

-Darius uses dark magic to seal Alfyn away to another realm, and frames Therion for the kidnapping. Therion can't tell the truth about the situation either or kill Darius- Cordelia, Alfyns little sister, will die as well if he even dares due to a cursed article of clothing given to her by Darius.

-luckily for him, Tressa has mercy on him a couple months later and breaks him out of jail. therion decides to investigate the curse in order to find out how to stab Darius in the most affective way imaginable. Also to save Cordelia, but that isn't his priority at the moment

-now we have the warrior princess Primrose

-she's the captain of the woman-led guard of the country of Azelhart

-her mother died during childbirth whilst giving birth to her little sister tressa, and so she decided to take care of her to the best of her ability. her father is very proud of her for taking charge like this, but he still is the parent in this version. he is the one that technically raised tressa since I do not want to force primrose to parent someone when she's like 6

-primrose was just a dedicated babysitter

-she wants tressa to practice her dancing, and when she finds her she's being held at knifepoint by 2 thieves. the barrier protecting Azelhart from enemy forces is broken, tressa is kidnapped, and -Azelhart is no more. Now Primrose is no princess or noble- she's just Primrose

-She goes to the Priest of Light so she can pray for forgiveness from Aelfric before she kills all of the Ravus thieves guild

-H'aanit is the princess of the werewolves. they've been oppressed and marginalized by humans for years, so they've taken up the forest as their home. she's a hunter like most of them are, yet she's never been able to harness the power of her bloodline: it may be due to her being half-human, but she's never been capable of transforming into a beast like her brethren.

-she meets the snow leopard Linde in front of her dead mothers corpse, and starts feeding it

-she has a new pet now -linde and herself work together and they sometimes do better than full-blooded werewolves when they work together

-Z'aanta forms an alliance with Mattias, a man who's worked with the Church of the Sacred Flame a million times -immediately following the forming of this alliance Linde attempts to kill H'aanit -H'aanit doesn't wish to hurt her friend, but she has no choice: she turns into a werewolf for the first time in her life and loses control of her thoughts in her despair

-oh welp the cat's dead(I'M SO SORRY LINDE YOU ARE A VERY GOOD KITTY) -H'aanit heads back home to cry for a minute... then she overhears Mattias admitting that he killed her cat -H'aanit attempts to attack him, and then gets yeeted to Jadd -good job ham, you complete and utter pokemon trainer

-last up, we've got ophilia -she's the adoptive daughter of the Archbishop of the Sacred Flame -she hears Lianna's gonna be going somewhere, she gets an awful vision of Lianna never being seen again following this mission, and goes with her in secret -Lianna gets kidnapped regardless by Mattias -so ophilia decides to find this guy and punch him in the face

-alright that's all of the character backstories

-all of these people(save alfyn and tressa, who is being held hostage by the ravus thieves guild) go to jadd first- h'aanit is yeeted there by mattias

-h'aanit notices that her people are invading this town and will be invading Flamesgrace- her next goal is to stop this -olberic wants to stop this as well, so he and h'aanit team up first

-Primrose looks for Tressa in some desperate search, and meets Cyrus during this search. they decide to journey together to Wendel, figuring going together would be better than being alone -they think it's a dumb idea to fight the beastmen, so they decide to escape at night like the bartender suggested

-ophilia finds therion at the bar while looking for food, and overhears his story while she eats soup and bread -she leads him to Wendel, wanting to do help another adventurer before she goes off into the unknown herself

-olberic and h'aanit free the town from beastmen and go to the cavern that leads to flamesgrace(which i am going to keep calling Wendel on accident because that's what it is in trials, srry) -they get there and there's a barrier -archbishop put it up to protect them from the beastmen, and then h'aanit and olberic find the lakeside town of astoria -the villagers keep mentioning how a divine light has started appearing in the area, and olberic shrugs it off and takes a very long nap. the poor man is very tired -ophilia and therion head there as well and follow the light to where it falls- ophilia touches this flame and has to fight a giant robot w/ therion -they win, and ophilia doesn't see it anymore -she shrugs and heads back to astoria, where beastmen have wrecked the town. it is g o n e -ophilia holds a memorial service for them, where she tells therion about how she's a cleric of the Sacred Flame -therion shrugs and suggests they keep going. they don't have much time before it's day and the beastmen attempt to attack Flamesgrace, too

-h'aanit, olberic, cyrus and primrose are having a picnic at the barrier when ophilia and therion arrive -ophilia attempts charging into the barrier, and then it sets on fire and they can all go through -after a long and awkward icebreaker, they all decide to travel together. it's pretty dangerous out there anyways, with the beastmen attacking and atlasdams rumored invasion of Hornburg. the ravus nation is also a major worry, therion reminds them, but they arent' gonna be in the area for a while

-these guys make it to flamesgrace to receive advice on what's coming next -olberic is told to become stronger before challenging atlasdam, and not to do so alone. he continues being in the group due to this -cyrus is told to learn how to understand his emotions- magic is not the forms they teach at school, but rather what comes from the heart. he decides to accompany the travelers so he can escape imprisonment by atlasdam forces -therion first learns of how the dimension Alfyn's been tossed into is inaccessible by humans. it is the birthplace of galdera, and is a realm of which sinners reside after they've lived their lives. Alfyn is probably not going to last very long in this realm- he's as good as dead -therion is then told of how ancient and deadly of a magic the cursed choker is, and that darius is not human. what he is is a mystery, and to save cordelia he must find the sword of aelfric. he cannot save alfyn, so he may as well save his sister -primrose is advised to find her sister and that if she chooses to destroy the ravus nation, aelfric will not support her actions, though they are understandable. if she finds the Sword of Aelfric, she may gain the power she needs to destroy the Ravus nation. -h'aanit is told that Linde will live on through her, and that Mattias is a warlock of Galderas. he has been rejected by the Order of the Sacred Flame as a result, though he does lie very affectively. to save the Kingdom of S'warkii, she must take down Mattias. and since mattias is going after the Sword of Aelfric she may as well accompany Ophilia and make Mattias's efforts worth nothing at all -ophilia is told to find Lianna, since she has been chosen by the Ember. she is now the only person who can rise the Sword of Aelfric from its resting place

-the Sword of Aelfric is hidden within the Sanctuary of Aelfric, which needs an insane amount of power to be opened. normally this power can be leached from the Aelfric Stones, but doing so could let loose ancient and terrible demons. therefore, the 8 gods that reside next to these stones need to be called upon in order to open the portal to the Sanctuary. -Therion suggests going after Aelfric first, since he's the closest one to them. after that, they need to find someone who knows where the rest of them are and also how to get there -they all agree that it's a good plan, but cyrus brings up that the Aelfric Stones each belong to a specific nation or people. going there and borrowing the gods power would be going after large civilizations that have grown around these stones -olberic suggests that they plan this out later, when they have more information and time -they all agree and go ahead to find the first of 8 gods
