After thousands of years struggling to survive, we have finally evolved into a sentient species that likes to stack stuff.

Stacked rocks make me unreasonably angry.
Now I know why.

I’ve seen a few ~aesthetic~ photos of rock stacks in rivers recently and this is just a reminder that you are destroying habitat when you move rocks around in rivers and streams.
In addition to dragonfly nymphs, rocky river beds are home to lots of other larval invertebrates like damselflies, mayflies, water beetles, caddisflies, stoneflies, and a bunch of dipterans. Not to mention lots of fish and amphibians!
Plus large scale rock stacking can change the flow of a stream and lead to increased erosion.
Anyway dragonfly for admiration:

rock stacking is a problem
seems like stacking rocks shouldnt be that much of a deal - let's see what the internet has to say:
Moving rocks can disturb the natural habitat of animals
Moss growth is inhibited
Rocks on the shore protect the coastline from erosion
Stacks can collaps and hurt children
Some cairns (stacked rocks) are used as pointers, if you add another somewhere else it might be confusing
Toppled cairns can bring upon a cascade of rocks and hurt people
(less important imho) they look bad

every fucking conversation on the internet looks like
subject matter expert: hey :) i'm here to help, i love you and this subject matter. i studied really hard and have literal years of training and experience with this. please make this 1 very small change to your life that is virtually no effort whatsoever and will help the environment and everyone around you.
random guy: i don't like that because my life will have to change. what if the change is impossible for me specifically. you cannot ask me either to stop or start an action - i will do whatever i want forever and i am offended you even asked about that because it would be a change in my life. plus what if it sounds like no effort but it's huge effort. what if i made that change and then i died because of it.
subject matter expert: again, it's not really a lot of effort, but of course we understand there might be a lot of reasons (medical, financial, etc) that you can't make this change, so we have experts who have created programs/infographics/alternatives so you can make this change smoothly. but of course maybe if it would actually kill you - we have compiled a very big list on other ways you can help out! :) we are just trying to make the world a better place for you and those around you :)
random guy: this is propaganda because of Big Subject Matter. this is going to destroy me and my life forever. where is your proof. i saw you attached studies but i don't want to read them. i really liked doing this thing to harm the environment and those around me and now they are saying that i cannot do that and i am just wondering how do we know you are an expert? my mormon lobster who uses flags to communicate has a different opinion than you and i trust Mormon Lobster . he Knows things :)
#got distracted by the possibility of mormon lobster with flagspeech#this was specifically about rock stacking in which ppl who work with the environment are like#please stop :') doing that :')#and u KNOW the response that they get when they ask that.#like. just to be real w/u i'd have expected more from the People who Go Outside.#one is probably an Outside Going person if one stacks rocks#and Outside Going people USUALLY agree with what Outside Experts suggest#but no. the rock stacking. they NEED to stack those rocks.

Vurur alu Ingyentsim Ayramä hasey sìmi! Just finished the Secrets of the Spires story!
#i'll make a post about story/gameplay thoughts on it later#for now enjoy some screenshot spam#avatar#frontiers of pandora#afop#secrets of the spires#sarentu#rasi#lì'fya leNa'vi#small language note: there's not really a specific word for “secret” nor “spire”#so what I wrote is actually more like “mystery of the mountains”#close enough#I considered using “asip” for spire (means “tall thin pile of something” or “tower”)#because I feel like “asip tskxeyä” (“tower of rocks”) fits the bill for “spire” pretty well#but the only example sentence we have for it is “someone built a tower of bones in the forest”#so I'm not 100% certain whether it also applies to natural structures or if it implies that someone/something made the pile#so i went with the safer but somewhat less interesting “ram” (“mountain”)#(asip might still be perfectly valid! i'm just not certain)#buuuuuut i guess “ingentsim ayramä” is just a tad more succinct than “ingyentsim ayasipä tskxeyä” anways#let's avoid stacking genitives if we can lol#although....hmm....I guess it's not like it strictly NEEDS the tskxe part.......#meh whatever i'm just gonna post this before I have more time to overthink and change my mind 😅
