Watch out, all my cold season pics are abt to look like this lol I just discovered the huji app and am momentarily obsessed! Brb crying at how pretty it made those roses look. In other (boring) news I made a work from home schedule and am trying my best to follow it. You know me. When I make lists I always include 500 things I probably won’t have time to do and stress myself out 🤧

Hello newly acquired phandom friends, if we lose Tumblr where are you all planning to move? I really don't think I could handle or trust Twitter or Instagram, there's a reason I stay over here, but people are talking about creating their own communities and starting work on that + archiving immediately, so...
Anyone wanna hop over to wordpress?
#phandom#dnp#dan and phil#I'm not abandoning ship till I'm kicked out same as I did with google plus#but I'd prefer to not lose these fan interactions we literally just got back#and ik the culture of different sites affects our interactions so I'm not interested in just going over to twitter etc#if we do start making wordpress blogs en masse I'd be happy to lend a helping hand to people new to wordpress with making a blog#pls pls tell me what do you guys have in mind?

Bunny – she/her – adult (young millennial) – asexual – mostly cis – wlw
Welcome to my dark twisted academic farming sim blog. Here, I post my latest on the farming sim genre as I investigate my “pastoral RPG” theory. If you’d like to hear more, I have a whole manifesto on the pastoral RPG and why that’s a more fitting name for the genre than “farming sim.”
When I’m not on the blogging grindset, expect general gaming content and terrible witticisms from yours truly. Maybe some US politics but I’ll tag that. I’d prefer minors do not follow me on tumblr. Any minors caught following will get the block. My wordpress blog, posted above, is family friendly, so any minors interested in my academic farm sim theory should follow me at www.grumpybunnygames.com. While I’m not about to be posting super adult stuff on tumblr, jokes and reblogs could get rather blue.
Uh, like don’t interact if you’re a terf I guess? Is this gonna help? I'm not sure terfs can read.

WordPress.com vs WordPress.org: What’s the Difference and Which One Should You Choose?

If you’re thinking about launching a website or starting a blog, chances are you’ve come across WordPress. But there’s a common point of confusion: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org. At first glance, they sound like the same thing — but they’re actually quite different platforms with distinct features, pros, and cons.
In this blog post, we’ll break down the differences between the two, help you understand which one suits your needs, and guide you toward the best choice for your website goals.
What is WordPress.org?
WordPress.org is the self-hosted version of WordPress. It’s the open-source software that anyone can download for free and install on their own web hosting server. With WordPress.org, you have full control over your website.
Key Features:
Complete Customization: Install any theme or plugin, modify the code, and design your site exactly the way you want.
Ownership: You fully own your website and all its content.
Monetization Freedom: Use any ad network, sell products, offer memberships, or add affiliate links with no restrictions.
Advanced Functionality: Great for eCommerce (using plugins like WooCommerce), custom development, SEO tools, and more.
Pros:
Total control and flexibility
Thousands of free and premium plugins/themes
Full access to your site's backend and data
Ideal for business, large blogs, and complex websites
Cons:
Requires web hosting (usually $5–$15/month)
You handle security, backups, and updates (though plugins can automate much of this)
Slightly steeper learning curve for beginners
What is WordPress.com?
WordPress.com is a hosted platform created by Automattic (the company behind WordPress). It offers a simplified, all-in-one solution for building a website without worrying about hosting, maintenance, or technical tasks.
Key Features:
No Hosting Needed: Hosting is included. No need to buy a separate plan or domain (though custom domains are available on paid plans).
Easy to Start: Perfect for beginners who want a fast and simple setup.
Maintenance-Free: WordPress.com handles updates, security, and backups.
Pros:
Free basic plan available
No setup or maintenance required
User-friendly dashboard
Great for hobby blogs, personal websites, or simple portfolios
Cons:
Limited customization (especially on the free plan)
Cannot upload custom themes or plugins unless on Business or higher plan
Limited monetization options on lower-tier plans
WordPress.com branding unless you upgrade
WordPress.com vs WordPress.org: Quick Comparison Table

Businesses, pros, devs
Which One Should You Choose?
Choose WordPress.com if:
You want a hassle-free experience and don’t want to manage hosting or security.
You’re a beginner with no technical background.
You just need a simple blog or portfolio site.
You’re okay with limited flexibility or willing to pay for premium features.
Choose WordPress.org if:
You want full control and the ability to customize everything.
You’re building a business website, store, or scalable project.
You need to monetize your content freely.
You're comfortable (or willing to learn) about managing your own hosting.

Final Thoughts
Both WordPress.com and WordPress.org offer powerful tools for creating websites, but the right choice depends on your goals. If you’re starting out or want something easy and low-maintenance, WordPress.com is a solid option. If you're aiming for maximum control, customization, and scalability, WordPress.org is the way to go.
Still unsure? Start with WordPress.com to get your feet wet — and when you’re ready for more freedom, you can always migrate to WordPress.org.

Blogging Tips for Beginners 05 — Installing Essential WordPress Plugins

Next, you should install essential WordPress plugins on your blogs. WordPress plugins are small software apps that help you activate some functions on your website.
For instance, you may need to display social sharing icons on your blog posts. They will encourage your readers to share content on their social media accounts. To do so, you should insert some icon codes in your theme files. However, this is risky and frustrating.
Instead, install a WordPress social media plugin on your blog. It will automatically insert sharing icons on your pages. All you have to do is configure it as per your requirements. Decide which social sharing icons you want to display and where, and set an icon size.
That’s it.
To ensure a smooth workflow and increase traffic, you should install a couple of plugins on your site. Here’re a quick list of essential WordPress plugins and their functionalities,
SEO: Rank Math SEO or Yoast SEO
Social sharing: Sassy Social Share or Ultimate Social
Caching: W3 Total Cache or WP Fastest Cache
Contact form: Contact Form 7
Database optimization: Optimize Database after Revisions
Security: All In One WP security
Backup: Updraftplus
Image optimization: Smush
Author bio: Simple Author Box
Comments: WPDisuz
If your theme has built-in options for author bio and comments, you can avoid installing separate plugins. Most web hosts offer daily backups and store your website copies on their servers. In such a situation, you can ignore a separate backup plugin as well.
You will get WordPress plugins for almost any purpose. However, install a minimum number of plugins (up to 15). Otherwise, it will affect the loading time of your pages.
