Hiii can I please request a platonic Dad!Steve x daughter!reader where Y/n is a 2 year old who was born with elemental powers (not experimented on), and it got to be too much for her parents (she’d accidentally set things on fire, make it start pouring rain inside the house, caused wind that knock down stuff, and shake the earth around them) so they dropped her off in a place they know would be able to handle her , The Avengers Compound. Tony would be alerted to motion outside the compound and see a little toddler wandering around and he’s like “Uhhh guys???” And they all rush outside (part of them thought it was a trap, but it wasn’t) they find the little girl and a note explaining everything. Steve gently picking her up and asking her questions and she’d get reallyyy attached to him. All the Avengers would be so sweet to her and take care of her and love her (and help her control her powers). When she accidentally sets things on fire with her powers, she’s just like “oopsies, sowwey!” (They think it’s really adorable honestly). She starts calling Steve “Dada”, like they come back from a mission (Pepper probably watched her and Y/n got to play with Pepper and Tony’s daughter) and her and Morgan watch excitedly as the Avenger’s quinjet lands (Pepper keeping them at a safe distance) and Y/n’s like “Dada Dada Dada!!” and happily jumping up and down waiting for him to walk off the jet to her and Pepper finally lets her run to jump in Steve’s arms (Bucky would be like, “are you excited to see your favorite Uncle too?” And Sam would be like “No no, I’M her favorite Uncle” lol) Lol Tony would be like “We all know I’M the fun Uncle”

You stared at your parents with the look of confusion on your face as they placed you and a suitcase full of your clothes in front of the front entrance of the Avengers compound. You were so confused as you watched them run away quickly. Your little mind couldn’t comprehend what was going on and you started crying.
“Mr. Stark, there’s someone at the front entrance.” F.R.I.D.A.Y informs Tony.
“Who is it?” Tony asks.
“It seems to be a toddler.” F.R.I.D.A.Y says.
Tony furrows his eyebrows in confusion and looked at the security camera footage of the front entrance.
“What the hell?” Tony whispers to himself. “Tell everyone to come in here.” He tells F.R.I.D.A.Y.
“Yes, Mr. Stark.” F.R.I.D.A.Y replies.
F.R.I.D.A.Y called all the Avengers to the lab where Tony is.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y said you needed us?” Steve says.
“You guys need to see this.” Tony says, pointing at the security camera footage of the front entrance.
“Is that a kid?” Clint asks.
“Yes.” Tony says.
“How did she get here?” Wanda asks.
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out.” Tony says.
The Avengers thought it could be a trap, but then they realized it couldn’t be. All of them went to the front entrance and went outside to where you are. It definitely wasn’t a trap when they heard your cries. Steve was first to approach you. You saw him walking towards you and you held your arms out, wanting to be picked up by him.
“Oh, poor baby.” Steve coos, picking you up.
He grabbed the suitcase that’s full of your clothes and took you inside. The Avengers followed Steve to the lounge room.
“There’s a note taped to her back.” Bucky says.
Bucky grabbed the note and read it.
“It says that her name is Y/N and she’s 2 years old. She was born was elemental powers and it was too much for her parents to handle so they brought her here.” Bucky reads aloud.
“It’s horrible that her parents would abandon her like that.” Sam says.
“What are we going to do with her?” Natasha asks.
“We’ll figure something out, won’t we, princess?” Steve coos at you.
Your cries turned into sniffles. Steve’s hand rubbing your back helped you calm down. You rested your head against Steve’s chest and your tiny hand grasped onto his shirt. Steve smiles down at you. Even as a toddler, you know that Steve is going to be your favorite person.
———
A few months go by since your parents dropped you off at the Avengers compound. You’ve really brightened up the place for everyone. You’ve become really attached to Steve. Steve adopted you and baby proofed the compound with help from the Avengers. Steve holds you during meetings for upcoming missions and sets you up with toys when he trains in the gym. One of your favorite things is when Steve or one of the Avengers gets you out of your crib in the morning and after nap time.
“Is my baby girl awake?” Steve coos.
“Dada!” You say, reaching up at him.
Steve happily picks you up out of your crib and gives you a kiss on your forehead.
“Does my favorite girl want breakfast?” He coos.
You clapped your hands in response. Steve smiles and took your response as a yes. Steve took you to the kitchen for breakfast. He set you up in your high chair while he got you your breakfast.
“There’s my favorite niece!” Bucky coos as he walks in the kitchen.
“Ducky!” You say.
You don’t know how to pronounce Bucky’s name correctly so you call him Bucky, which he finds cute. He got a cup of coffee and sat down at the table closest to your high chair. You leaned over in your high chair to attempt to reach him, but you accidentally released a small ball of fire at a napkin. Bucky quickly put it out with his metal hand by tapping it until it went out.
“What happened?” Steve asks as he put a small bowl of yogurt on the tray of your high chair.
“Y/N accidentally caught a napkin on fire.” Bucky says.
“Oopsies, sowwy.” You apologized. “I bad now, dada?” You asked.
“No, sweetheart. It was just an accident.” Steve says.
“It happens, doll.” Bucky says.
“Ok.” You say.
After breakfast you managed to get your hands on Steve’s shield when he wasn’t paying attention. Steve put a variety of toys on the floor for you, but you saw his shield leaning against the wall. While Steve was looking for a cartoon to also entertain you, you crawled over to the shield. You used the wall to stand up. You grabbed it and brought it over to the toys you already have on the floor.
“How about we watch-” Steve stops talkings and smiles when he sees that you got your hands on his shield. “You stole dada’s shield, didn’t you, princess?” He coos.
“Mine.” You say, putting your hands on it.
“You can play with it, but dada is going to need it back for a mission later this week.” He says softly.
“Mine.” You say again.
Steve couldn’t help but smile at you. He got settled on the couch and watched you play with his shield and the toys you have around it. The Avengers walked in and out of the lounge room as you played. They said hi to you, but didn’t expect you to say hi back. You get too focused on playing with your toys to greet them, which everyone thinks is cute.
“Do we have a new Captain America?” Bucky coos at you as he walks in the lounge room.
You looked up at Bucky and gave him a smile. Bucky smiles back and ruffles your hair. He sat down on the couch and watched you play with your toys and your dad’s shield.
“You know she’s not going to give that shield back to you, right?” Bucky jokes.
“I’m fine with that.” Steve smiles.
——
You don’t like it when Steve goes on missions, because you want him to stay home with you. It makes you sad when he goes on missions. He tries to go on missions that aren’t as long as he’s used to. The most he’ll be on a mission is two days. Pepper babysits you while Steve goes on missions with the Avengers.
Today, Steve is going on a mission. Luckily for both of you, he’ll be home by tonight. While he’s on the mission, you’re playing with Morgan in the lounge room while a variety of Disney movies are playing on the TV. You and Morgan were trying to attempt to build a tower out of legos, but then you two wanted to color. Pepper walks in the lounge room, smiling when she sees you two playing together. She hates to break up playtime, but it’s nap time for you.
“Y/N, it’s nap time.” Pepper says softly.
“Mommy, we’re busy coloring.” Morgan says.
“I know, sweetie, but Y/N needs to take a nap. You two can pick up where you left off in a little bit.” Pepper says.
Pepper picked you up and carried you to your bedroom, which is right next to your dad’s bedroom. She gently laid you in your crib and gave you your favorite stuffed animal and covered you up with a blanket. You used to have a hard time falling asleep for nap time when Steve isn’t there, but you grew out of that phase quickly. You fell asleep within a few minutes. While you took a nap, Pepper made lunch for you and Morgan. You woke up about an hour later, which is around the same time you woke up from your nap.
“Mommy, Y/N is awake.” Morgan says, pointing at the baby monitor.
“Thanks for letting me know, sweetie.” Pepper smiles.
Pepper went to your bedroom to see you wide awake and sitting upright in your crib. She picks you up out of your crib and took you to the kitchen for lunch.
“Dada?” You asked.
“Dada will be home tonight.” Pepper reminds you.
“Ok.” You replied.
During lunch, Morgan suggested that you two draw pictures for yours and her dad, which you absolutely want to do. Pepper got you and Morgan some blank pieces of paper so you two can draw. She set you two back up in the lounge room after lunch. You two got right to drawing.
Before you knew it, Steve and the Avengers returned from the mission. You always know when they get back from mission from the sound of the quinjet engine. You got excited and pushed yourself up from the floor and went to run to the quinjet, but Pepper picked you up before you could do so.
“We have to wait for dada to get off the quinjet first.” Pepper says.
“Ok.” You replied.
You watched as Morgan ran to Tony and greeted him with a hug. Then saw your dad, which excited you.
“Dada! Dada! Dada!” You exclaimed happily, squirming in Pepper’s arms.
Steve smiles when he hears your voice. Pepper gently put you on the floor and let you run to your dad. Steve crouched down to pick you up. You hugged him as tightly as you could.
“Missed you.” You say.
“I missed you too, sweetheart.” Steve says softly.
Bucky walks up next to Steve and stands next to him to get lovings from you next.
“Are you excited to see your favorite uncle too?” Bucky asks, playfully and gently poking your tummy.
You giggled and practically threw yourself in Bucky’s arms to hug him.
“No, no. I’M her favorite uncle.” Sam says.
“We all know I’M the fun uncle.” Tony says.
“Y/N is making it pretty obvious that Barnes is the favorite uncle.” Natasha says.
“For now.” Sam says.
You got put back in your dad’s arms after you greeted all of the Avengers with hugs.
“Wuv dada.” You say.
“I love you too, princess.” Steve says softly, kissing your forehead.

Coming Out As Queer to Your Avenger Parent
Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Clint (and Linda) Barton, Thor, Bruce Banner, Wanda Maximoff, Maria Hill
Pairings: Clint Barton x Linda Barton, implied Maria Hill x Natasha Romanoff (Maria’s only)
Content warnings: coming out, mentions of homophobia
A/N: no pronouns used for Reader. Reader’s sexuality is either not specified or “queer”
Natasha Romanoff:
You’re not entirely sure how your mom will react to your sexuality
Sometimes Natasha asks if you’re seeing anyone, but you never really answer
She’s never given any indication that she’s homophobic, and she generally seems to support the LGBTQ+ community, but you’re unsure how she’ll feel about her kid being a part of said community
You want to tell your mom, but you have a hard time saying the words, so instead you write her a note
You give it to her as she’s leaving for a mission
It’s a no-contact mission, and waiting for her to return is the longest three days of your life
Natasha reads your letter and tears up
She feels guilty that you were too scared to tell her in person
When she returns she finds you sitting on the edge of your bed, backpack next to you
You had the backpack packed with essentials in case she kicked you out
Natasha immediately gives you a big hug
“I love you so much, baby, no matter what. And I’m so proud of you for coming out to me.”
You hug her back, unable to speak
“I’m so sorry I made you feel like you couldn’t tell me. I wish I could’ve made you feel safe enough to share this with me.”
“Thanks, Mom,” tears prick at your eyes as you hold onto each other. “Я тебя любл.”
“Я тоже тебя люблю. Always.”
Steve Rogers
Steve was born in the early 20th century and was the poster boy for the US military during WWII, so you’re not entirely convinced he’ll be okay with you being queer
But you did make him watch Buffy with you when you were younger, and he never seemed put off by Tara and Willow’s relationship
That’s one of the main ways you bond with your dad: watching classic shows and movies with him so he understands pop culture references
You also watch modern media together so his references are less dated
This is how you start gauging how accepting he might be of your sexuality: showing him queer modern media
He doesn’t like Glee, but he says he finds the show itself bad (you can’t really argue with him on that one)
He’s also not the biggest fan of Queer Eye, but you learn he doesn’t care for reality TV in general
Your dad does vibe with Wynonna Earp, to your great surprise
Maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise, given the military’s reputation for drinking and cursing
What really surprises you is how invested he is in Waverly and Nicole’s relationship
Never in a million years would you have expected Captain America to be an avid WayHaught shipper
But it gives you hope that your dad might be okay with your sexuality
“Hey dad,” you rub your palms on your pajama pants when you’re sitting on the couch with him watching Star Wars, “you know how you like Waverly and Nicole?”
“Sure, their characters are great. They also have great chemistry and they seem to really love each other.” He’s only half paying attention, eyes still focused on the screen
You take a deep breath. “What would you say if I told you I was like them?”
Your dad pauses the movie and turns to look at you. “I mean, I think you are like them. You’re kind, brave, and you’re not afraid to stand up for yourself. Those are all admirable traits.”
“No, I mean, what if I told you I was queer. What would you say?”
Steve looks straight into your eyes. “I would say that I love you no matter what, and that nothing will ever change that. I would tell you that the only thing I care about when it comes to your dating life is if your partner treats you well. If you’re happy, I’m happy.”
You wrap your arms around him and he pulls you into a bone-crushing hug, rubbing circles on your back.
“I love you, dad.”
“I love you too.”
Tony Stark:
Tony Stark’s exploits were well-reported in the tabloids in the 80s and 90s.
Being curious, you dug into the archives and read about dozens of affairs with women and men alike
You approach him about it. Sure, 99% of what’s reported in tabloids is false, but there’s probably some truth to most of it
“Hey dad,”
Tony keeps working his latest project. “Hey, squirt. What’s up?”
“The stuff in the tabloids, about you having sex with all those people?”
He puts his forceps down. “What about that stuff?”
“Is it true?” You try to hide your nervousness
He shrugs. “Some of it. Why do you ask?”
You take a deep breath. “What about the stories of you sleeping with men?”
“Mm, I haven’t read all of them. At least a couple are probably true.” Tony gives you an odd look. “Does that bother you?”
“No!” You shake your head. “No, not at all.”
“Okay…” your dad knows you too well. There’s something you’re hiding.
“So does that make you bisexual?”
“Hm, I guess it does. What’s with the sudden interest in my sex life?”
Chewing on your lip, you refuse to look him in the eye. “I just wanted to know if those stories were true.”
“Because…?”
“Because I wanted to know if you’d be okay if I was queer.”
Tony wipes his hands on a towel and puts them on your shoulders, looking into your eyes. “Of course I’m okay with it, kid. You’re queer, I’m queer, it’s one more thing we have in common.”
“Are you sure? I know it’s a lot.”
“Of course I’m sure, squirt. You’re my kid, and I love you always. It’s as simple as that. Now hand me those nanochips.”
Clint and Linda Barton:
As the oldest Barton sibling, you feel a certain amount of responsibility for your siblings
And even though your parents have always told you that they’ll love you no matter what and that you can talk to them about anything, you tend not to talk to them about big things in your life because you don’t want to take up too much of their time
Besides, your sexuality isn’t relevant to them anyway
Until you start dating someone
Suddenly it’s a little more pertinent to your life, and theirs by extension
One night, when your dad is home, you sit them down after your siblings have gone to bed
“Mom, dad,” you take a deep breath and look at them from across the room, “there’s something I need to tell you. I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, but I didn’t know how to say it.”
They look at you, unflinching, and it scares you a little. They’re both former SHIELD agents, and neither of them has an easy time turning off their poker face
“I’m queer.”
“Sweetheart,” your mom smiles, “we know.”
“What do you mean?”
“We’ve known since you were a little kid,” Clint is being too nonchalant about this.
“Oh. Why didn’t either of you say anything?”
Your mom speaks up, “we knew you would say something to us when you were ready.”
“We love you, sweetheart,” your parents wrap you in a hug
“And now you can introduce us to your partner!”
Your face goes pale, and your mom lightly slaps your dad on the shoulder
“Clint, we were going to wait to bring that up,” she admonishes him.
“You know about that too?”
Your mom gives you a sympathetic smile. “We’re former spies, sweetheart. We should probably set some ground rules. And have the sex talk again. We only really covered the basics the first time.”
“Moooom,” you groan and flop onto the couch. At least they’re supportive.
Maybe even a little too supportive, for your taste.
Thor:
On Asgard, it’s completely normal to love whoever you want, including more than one person
Thor has always used “they” when talking about your future partner(s)
But living on Earth has made you a little wary about the topic
So it’s an easy conversation to have with your dad, in theory, but you still worry. You bring it up during dinner one night
“Dad, I’m gay. I think. Definitely queer, though.”
“Excellent!” He claps a hand on your back, “personally, I’m partial to dating women.”
Thor is honestly a little surprised you even brought this up. He knows people on earth can be weird about sexuality, but he assumed you wouldn’t feel the need to say anything.
“Thank you for, what is the term? Leaving the cupboard?”
“I think you mean coming out of the closet, dad.”
“Right, yes. Well, thank you. I love you very much. Now, what kind of person are you looking to court? I’m sure I could arrange something.”
“Dad!”
Bruce Banner:
You have always found it easier to connect with your dad on an intellectual level
Not to say that Bruce isn’t a loving and caring father
But you both find it easier to discuss your emotions in logical terms
You don’t really know how to come out to him, but you think your sexuality is something he should know about you
The perfect opportunity arises when you watch a penguin documentary together
“What do you think about homosexual behavior in animals?” You stare straight ahead at the screen, as the narrator describes how male penguins have been known to mate with each other
Bruce doesn’t miss a beat when he replies, “I think it isn’t nearly well-studied enough, but clearly present in many species and a natural part of diversity within a population.”
“And in humans?” You shift on the couch, still staring intently at the TV
“I mean, we’re just animals with sophisticated tools.”
You sit silently for a while, working up the courage to say the next thing. “What if I display some homosexual behavior?”
This gets your dad to turn and face you. “There is absolutely nothing wrong if you do. You are my child, I love you, and I wouldn’t want to change any part of you.”
You finally look at him and see the earnest expression on his face. “Are you sure?”
“Completely,” he nods and puts a hand on your shoulder.
“Thanks dad,” you pull him into a hug
Bruce stiffens for a millisecond, but immediately hugs you back fiercely. “Of course. I wouldn’t have you any other way.”
Wanda Maximoff:
Wanda emigrated from a conservative country, is a former HYDRA volunteer, and has only ever been in extremely heterosexual relationships
These facts give you pause when thinking about coming out to her
She also knows what it’s like to be othered just for who you are, seems generally supportive of social freedoms, and has always encouraged you to be your authentic self
Still, the fear outweighs any other thoughts you have on the subject
Wanda notices you actively shielding your mind from her
She never pries, but usually an occasional stray thought filters through
You also pull away from her emotionally, which worries her
She knows you’re a good kid, but she’s afraid that someone is hurting you, or that you’re hurting yourself
“анђео, can I talk to you?”
You immediately tense up at the seriousness in her voice
“I’m worried about you. What’s going on, злато моja?”
“Im fine, Mom,” you insist.
“I know you’re hiding something from me, анђео.”
“Mama, I’m fine. I promise.”
“Honey, is it kids at school? Is someone bothering you?”
You know it’s bad when your mom starts using English pet names for you, but you don’t know how to make her stop prying
“I’m okay, please—“
“I know something’s bothering you, sweetheart.”
“Will you please just leave me alone?!” You finally shout, releasing some of your thoughts and feelings through your powers as you lose control
“Oh honey,” tears start to slide down Wanda’s face as all of your fear and anxiety comes crashing down on her. She reaches out for you, but you flinch, scared from your outburst
“I’m sorry, мамица. I didn’t mean to—I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
“Анђео, don’t apologize. I will always love you. Always. Nothing could ever change that, certainly not who you fall in love with. I could never be upset with you for who you are.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Maria Hill:
Your mom is former military and the former head of a government agency, neither of which had a great track record on LGBTQ+ rights
But she had raised you to treat everyone with respect, and you’re 99% sure she’s a lesbian
Maria doesn’t talk about her dating history with you, but you know some things about her past
It doesn’t make much sense to you that she’d been dishonorably discharged from the military only to immediately be accepted into SHIELD
(Okay, so maybe you had read her file without her knowing, so what?)
Also she definitely has some kind of weird tension with your Aunty Nat
So maybe you’re reading into things, but you’re fairly sure your mom is a lesbian, and hopeful that means she will be supportive of you
You casually come out to her - in a way that you can brush off if necessary - when she asks you how school is going one day
It’s honestly half because you want to come out to her and half because you want to know if she’s gay
“Mm, school’s good. There’s someone in a few of my classes I really like. We did a group project together, and we just clicked. Do you know how rare it is to find someone who will actually contribute to group projects?”
Your mom raises her eyebrows at your rambling and smirks, “so do you like this person in a friendly way? Or in a like like way?”
You flush. Of all the responses you were expecting from your straight-laced mom, this wasn’t one of them. “Like like. As more than a friend.”
“Well, do you think your feelings are reciprocated?”
“I don’t know. There’s a lot of unnecessary physical contact and compliments, but some people are just like that, you know?”
“Mm, I do.” Your mom looks at you more intently, “and is there a reason you’re being intentionally vague about your crush’s gender?”
You had known she would notice, but her gaze still makes you nervous. “Because I wasn’t sure how you’d react if I wasn’t straight.”
“Honey, come here.” Maria wraps you in a big hug. “I love you so much. It is one-hundred percent okay if you aren’t straight.”
You sigh in relief, hugging her tight.
“And just for the record, it sounds like your crush like likes you back,” she says the last part with a song-song voice.
“Mom!” You’re never telling your mom about your crushes again.
“Hey,” Maria kisses the top of your head, “I’m proud of you for coming out to me, kid.”
“Really?”
“Really. I know how much courage that takes.”
“Know in a “I can sympathize with your situation” way, or know in a “I’ve been there before” way?”
She laughs. “Both. What?” She asks when your eyes go wide.
“Does that mean you and Aunty Nat…”
Maria pretends she didn’t hear you. “So, are you going to ask out your friend?”
“Don’t change the subject!”

B-u-c-k-y? Bucky
Pairings: father!Bucky Barnes & child!reader, featuring Steve Rogers & child!reader and Tony Stark & child!reader (all platonic)
Imagine: The beginning of your relationship with your father and a glimpse at the progress
Warnings: angst, fluff, mention of Hydra, mention of child mistreatment, mention of experiments, reader describes as tiny to clarify more that hydra treated them bad, mention of medical equipment such as syringes, not proofread, if you find anything else please tell me
A/N so don’t know where this came from but I haven’t been able to write something in months so I’m just happy to be able to write again hopefully, don’t know if I like it or not but here we go anyway enjoy
Kinda short, dunno about 2000 words or so
might make more parts to this
Sparks lit up the dark corridor as Bucky and Steve walked down the stairs to be met with red lights flashing above each door as the alarms blasted their annoyingly high pitched sound that made your ears ring afterwards. One look at each other, they gave a nod and split up as they took one side each of the corridor.
The first room Bucky opened was filled with cabinets made of plastic and in each was different kinds of test tubes with what looked like some kind of poisonous liquid. Syringes were spread out over the desks neatly. Bucky felt chills run down his spine as he saw the hospital bed (or more like a table with white a quilt?) in the middle of the room. Handcuffs made to restrain a person laid neatly on the bed. Blood covering the sides of the bed and his mind went back to 1945, when Arnim Zola experimented on him. Which had coincidentally also been at a hydra base. His gun raised as he searched the room for any kind of lifeforms, when he found none he went on to the next door.
This continued for at least five more doors, some of them being lab rooms and some what looked like prison cells fortified with extra protection, meaning whoever had once been inside couldn’t have fled on their own.
When he opened the sixth door, Bucky scanned the room and had it not been for the red lights flashing once in a while and the lamp that flickered out a dull light he would've missed the tiny child in the room. Knees pressed to their chest. Hospital gown clinging to their skin from blood and cold sweat. The room had cold chills and even for Bucky who tolerated the cold more than others he could feel the freezing temperature in the room. He lowered his gun and put on the softest expression he could muster during these circumstances. Bucky glanced out the door and yelled out with a soft voice (to not startle the child) once for Steve, Bucky’s gaze not soon after fell back to the quivering child, that was you, who stared at him with wide scared eyes.
Bucky took a careful step towards you as he kneeled down slightly to put his gun onto the floor. He gave you what was supposed to look like a kind smile but looked more like a grimace as he thought about what you must have been through. As soon as you saw Bucky coming closer he watched as dark blue smoke covered your tiny frame and not a second after you were gone. Bucky stopped in his tracks and looked around the room for you. His eyes fell on the coroner farthest away from him. You had covered your ears with your hands and your eyes were shut. Your body was tense and knees still pressed to your chest as you quivered further into the corner. Bucky stayed in place not knowing entirely what to do. At that moment he saw Steve walk through the door sparing a glance towards you before back at Bucky his shield raised as they both heard people run their way. With a sigh from Bucky they both left you for the time being as Hydra soldiers started to fill the end of the corridor.
As soon as you heard the sound of shots (your hands not able to muffle out the sounds that came right outside of the room you resided in) die down you opened your eyes. You watched with curious eyes as Bucky (not that you knew his name) walked into the room once more. Like before he put his gun down and gave you a kind smile, this time his hand slowly reached out for you. He watched as you pressed yourself girder into the corner as you stared at his hand.
“hey, hey, okay, it’s okay” Bucky raised both his hands into the air to show he meant no harm as he cautiously took another step closer. “I won’t hurt you” Steve watched from the door opening as Bucky interacted with you. His gaze shifted to the metal objects (or what looked like toys for children) in the room that had started to slightly hover over the ground, including Bucky’s gun.
Bucky’s eyes glanced towards the hovering objects and was a tiny bit glad that you hadn’t done anything to his left arm. “What's your name?” he let out a sigh as you didn't answer knowing you probably wouldn't answer anything he asked you, hell he didn’t even know if you could understand him. His head tilted slightly as he took slow steps forward until he knelt in front of you. The metal objects (except his arm) are rising higher into the air.
“are you alright, you hurt?” He said clearly as he watched you start to pick at the side of your arm where blood was running down onto your hospital gown. He watched as you picked at multiple wounds, some of them he could clearly see were from syringes and his eyes saddened. Both Bucky and Steve watched as you pressed yourself deeper into the corner, as you tried to hide the many bruises that littered your body.
“can I-we help you, can you let us help you out of here?” Bucky gestured with his hand to him and Steve as he said the word us. Once more he didn’t get a verbal answer but instead he got you to move out of the corner slightly. Bucky held his hand out to you once more and watched as you carefully placed your tiny hand in his much bigger one. He couldn’t help but to give a soft smile once more towards you.
"Can you walk?” And yet again there was no answer. Bucky looked at you with an uncertain expression as you stood up. Your body swaying from side to side. He carefully and slowly to make sure you could stop him if you wanted to, took you into his arms. Making sure you wouldn’t fall he stood up straight and started to walk towards Steve who smiled slightly at Bucky as he watched you shut your eyes and bury your head into his chest. The metal objects all crashed to the ground with a loud clatter of noise in various directions.
This had all been four months ago and Bucky had finally started to get you to trust him enough for you to let him teach you how to talk, write and read. By now you also trusted the rest of the avengers enough so that you wouldn’t try to hide from all of them except Steve (excluding Bucky). Tony would most days let you sit beside him as he made new iron man suits and at some time along the way he’d let you help him by using your powers to bend a metal the way he wanted it to be. This would in the end result in you running up to Bucky proud of your accomplishments and for Bucky to ruffle your hair and tell you how proud he was. These interactions with Tony also led to you having more control over your powers at least one of them. You still tended to teleport yourself unintentionally to the other side of the room if you were scared.
Today it just so happened that Bucky held another lesson with you to help you speak. So far you were able to say yes and no and some other basic things such as “hungry” and “tired”. However even though you were starting to learn you still most of the time stuck to being nonverbal and only shook your head yes or no or shrugged your shoulders when you didn’t know.
At this moment Bucky had tried to teach you to say his name and so far your tries had been good but as he knew you were a slow learner which he realized the first time he started to teach you, he knew you wouldn't be getting his name right in a while. For Bucky however this was just a minor setback as he felt he had to teach you everything after all as it so happened he was your father.
As soon as you had gotten to the Avengers base they tried to find out if you had any family that had filed a missing child’s report and to know what your name was as you refused to speak (them not knowing you didn’t know how to). Bucky had to promise you that he would be there for every test they did to you to make sure you were as healthy as you could be at that moment for you to let them be near you with any medical devices. As it turned out Hydra had somehow created you from Bucky’s DNA meaning he was listed as the father in the old Htdra records they found at the Hydra base they had attacked. They had also found out that you were around 8-9 years old. There wasn’t a specific date listed anywhere on when your birthday was, only what year you were born. This had shocked all of the heroes as they by the way you looked were way younger. All the more information they gained only made Bucky feel more guilty. Even if he didn’t know about your existence he still felt guilty over the things you had suffered with Hydra. The fact that you looked so much younger made him feel more guilty as it showed how poorly they had taken care of you. If he just looked at you he would assume you were around 5-6 years old and maybe your powers helped your appearance look younger but it still made him feel guilty.
Bucky had to shake himself out of his thoughts as he watched and heard you try to pronounce his name correctly.
“B-b-a-b-a-ck-y” You fumbled over the words as you hugged the Iron Man plushie Tony had given you a few days prior after he saw you holding a Captain America plushie. Ever since you hadn’t let go of the new plushie, much to Bucky’s demise and Tony’s ego.
Your father couldn’t help but to smile at you, it had been a long time since he smiled as much as when you came into his life and he hoped that maybe you could heal the part in himself that he found to be broken.
“not A” he pointed to the letter a in the book you held in front of you “sweetheart, it’s b-u-cky” Bucky pointed at each letter as he said them. He had originally wanted to teach you to call him dad first but as you had no idea what that word meant yet and only ever heard people call him bucky that's what he went with to for now to not make you confused.
“ba-cku?
Bucky chuckled slightly and remade his actions as before. He pointed to each letter as he said them. “b-u-c-k-y, bucky”
“B-u-c-k-y?”
“That's right sweetie, B-u-c-k-y” Steve spoke from beside you as he took the other seat next to you as he brought you a plate with different types of sliced fruit as they were still trying to see what you liked to eat.
You took fruit from the plate and tasted it. Munching on it you smiled slightly up at Bucky. “Bu-cky, Bucky? Bucky”
Both super soldiers let out encouraging smiles as you repeated Bucky’s name as if it was a chant. Bucky’s smile held more pride than the others who had heard you as he ruffled your hair. He smiled more brightly as he watched you stand up and ruffle his own hair mimicking his actions. With that he let out a small laugh and kissed the top of your head as you sat down once more, ready for Bucky to teach you other words.

“Hold it, hold it.” Your father said as he saw you walk past him in slightly revealing attire, only so that a glimpse of your stomach was shown when you lifted your arms, really. “What was that?” He pointed at your midriff.
“Huh?” You said in confusion before it clicked in your head and you’re eyes noticibly widened. “What do…you mean? Is there something on my shirt?” You looked down and brushed your hands down your stomach.
“Just show me.” Steve sighed and your shoulders dropped in defeat, pulling your shirt just over your belly button. “When did you get a piercing? How did you even pay for that?” He questioned, looking back up at you in disbelief.
“I got it done on a day you were out on a mission, my friend payed for it.” You admitted and poked it a bit. “It healed good, though. And it’s kind of cute, I like it. Don’t you?” You asked your father.
“I am glad your happy with it.” Steve plainly responded. “Just run it by me before you put any more holes in your skin. That includes tattoos, too.”

So what about winterwidow's little daughter being so obsessed wither her Uncle Steve? Bucky and Nat gettin a lil jealous at Steve bc yn always wanna be with her Uncle Steve...
Uncle Steve
WinterWidow x Daughter!Reader
Summary: You absolutely adore your Uncle Steve and your parents are feeling a little jealous.
———
You adored her Uncle Steve, how could you not? He is the Captain America himself. You were always toddling after him, clinging to his leg or reaching up with tiny hands, begging to be picked up. Natasha and Bucky couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as you seemed to prefer Steve's company over theirs.
One evening, as Natasha and Bucky settled you into bed, you began to protest, "No nigh-nigh, Mama! No nigh-nigh, Dada! Want Uncle Steve!"
Natasha exchanged a knowing look with Bucky as they both chuckled softly. "Sorry, sweetheart, Uncle Steve has his own room. You can see him in the morning," Bucky explained gently, tucking you into bed.
But you weren’t convinced. With a pout, you crossed your arms and declared, "No! Want Uncle Stevie's silly voice!"
Natasha and Bucky exchanged amused glances before Bucky said, "Alright, how about Mama can tell you a story tonight?"
You considered this for a moment before nodding eagerly. Natasha began to weave a tale of her exciting missions and crazy encounters, keeping it toddler-friendly of course. Your eyes slowly drooped shut, lulled by your mother's soothing voice.
As both of your parents walked out of the room, Bucky couldn’t help but joking say, “Does she forget we are her parents sometimes?”
Natasha couldn’t help but snicker, although the thought crossed her mind. She bit her finger lightly and settled in their bed.
The next morning, you were up bright and early, bursting with excitement as you raced through the compound in search of Uncle Steve. Finding him in the kitchen, you tugged at his hand, your words coming out in a jumble, "Uncle Stevie! Uncle Stevie! Want to play!"
Steve chuckled and scooped you up into his arms, planting a kiss on your forehead. "Good morning, Y/N! How about we have breakfast first, and then I'll play a game with you?"
Your face lit up with a grin as you nodded enthusiastically, already chattering about your favourite breakfast foods.
“Strawberry better on pancakes.” You declared as you shoved some fluffy pancakes in your mouth. The sweetness of the strawberries tingling on your tongue.
“Mmm, I think blueberries are better.” Steve responded, putting a blueberry on your pancake.
“No way Jose! You eat your stinky blueberry!” You threw the blueberry back at him with a giggle. You shook your head and sighed, speaking under your breath. “Silly Uncle Steve.”
Steve laughed lightly and shook his head, turning his eyes back to his news paper. How old fashioned of him.
As the days passed, Natasha and Bucky watched with amusement as you continued to shadow Steve, playing all sorts of games. ‘Monster’ was one of your favourites as Steve pretended to be a Monster and chased after you. But one night, as they were settling into bed, you came racing into their room, your expression one of frustration.
"Mama! Dada!" you exclaimed, your little fists clenched at your sides, "Uncle Steve keeps telling me old man stories, and I wanna play with you!"
“What kind of stories, sweetheart?" Bucky asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
You huffed, your cheeks flushed with frustration. "He keep talking ‘bout 'good ol' days' and how things different back then. I just wanna play!"
Natasha stifled a laugh, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "Well, maybe Uncle Steve just wants to talk about his time in the old days?”
You shook your head. “Tell him he need to talk faster!” You said with a groan, falling onto the bed dramatically.
Bucky laughed. “What? Is he boring you to sleep? Do you start snoring every time he starts telling a story?” He asked with amusement.
You nodded and groaned again. “So sleeeepy.” You suddenly sat up and faced Bucky. “Daddy! I not snore!” You huffed and crossed your little arms.
Natasha started to laugh as she saw your little cranky face. “Alright, alright, you don’t snore, you silly goose! Do you just want to play with Mama and Dada?”
You nodded eagerly, your tiny fists clenched in determination. "Yeah! I wanna play hide and seek with you and Dada!"
With a chuckle, Natasha and Bucky agreed, setting off on a game of hide and seek that spanned the entire compound. Your laughter filled the air as you darted from room to room, your parents hot on your heels.
You spent the evening playing games and laughing together, forgetting about how boring Uncle Steve’s stories could get. Natasha and Bucky realized that no matter how much you adored Uncle Steve, your heart would always belong to your loving parents who always had much more exciting stories.

I JUST LOVE DAD!BUCKY AND UNCLE!STEVE SO BAD @sergeantbarnessdoll
Shyness
Bucky Barnes x Daughter!reader, Steve Rogers x Child!reader
Word Count: 1,837
Requested By: Anonymous
Ok so I was thinking if you could write something where baby Barnes reader is very shy and only likes to be around Bucky and doesn’t talk much bc of hydra and Bucky had to go on a mission or something and asked Steve to watch her or something and Barnes reader slowly takes a liking to him and stuff
A/N: Reader is about 3 or 4 years old
Even before HYDRA had gotten their hands on you, you were a shy baby. You never left your dad’s side and when people talked to you, your dad always had to answer for you, even around Steve you were shy, your dad’s best friend.
After HYDRA and after you two were rescued, you barely spoke a word, even to your dad. Bruce assured him that it would just take some time for you to be back to your normal shyness and he was mostly right.
You became more and more talkative with your dad again but around the rest of the Avengers, you were silent. Sometimes you’d say a “please” or “thank you” but Bucky did most of the talking for you. He hoped you’d outgrow being shy soon.

Nighttime Troubles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Summary: Y/N having trouble sleeping with out their dad while their other parents try to calm them down and get Tony back in bed.
Note: Gn!Reader, around 3 years old. Yes Soap is the name of her sheep plushie, because i love my Soapie to much and he needed to be in my story.
Art/picture is from Pinterest, credits go to whoever made it. I just put it together like this.
Translations: Dorogoy = Sweetheart (And expensive, for some reason, if you know why this is please tell me. Translate is weird.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N was having a rough couple of nights, the nightmares they had were getting too much for their little mind. Feeling so many big feelings and seeing scary things in their dreams. This didn’t bother the Avengers however, they all loved the little koala. Their koala was a bit of all of them. Their little miracle in life, their light. After defeating Loki everything went pretty fast for the Avengers and just 2 years later they got married, all 6 of them (Tony bribed the minister and the person that would approve the paperwork) and in 2015 their little koala was born.
Natasha was walking Y/N around the master bedroom, shushing them as she bounced them a bit in her arms. “shhhh, Dorogoy, it’s okay momma is here. No more nightmares, shhh.” She whispered to the little one as Thor came back into the room with a few extra plushies from Y/N’s room. “I didn’t know which one they would want, so i got them all.” Clint laughed a bit and grabbed the little sheep plushie from the stack in Thor’s arm. “This one, Soap, remember this one Thor. Soap is the favorite.” Natasha rolled her eyes and kissed Y/N’s cheeks.
After a few minutes Steve was done warming up Y/N’s bottle and quickly made his way back to the bedroom. “Any progress?” He asked worriedly as he handed Natasha the bottle. “No, not yet, Bruce is still trying to get Tony to come to bed, but he’s probably dealing with his own nightmares.” Clint answered. They all knew that Y/N slept the best between Bruce and Tony. Probably because they liked being in a science sandwich and Bruce and Tony were the warmest out of the parents. Natasha yawned as she sat down on the bed with Y/N. “Thor? Do you still have that story book somewhere? that one with both folktales and fairytales?” She asked, hoping that reading to Y/N would calm them down.
“Yes! I’ll grab it and read to the little one!” Thor cheered as he walked over to the book shelf and grabbed the book Natasha mentioned. He went to the bed and sat next to Natasha and Y/N before starting to read in the soft tone he only used with Y/N. “This one is called ‘The Forest Bride’. There was once a farmer who had three sons,” Thor read to Y/N, and secretly Natasha. Y/N wasn't crying anymore as they suckled on their bottle while listening to Thor reading their favorite story.
Steve and Clint smiled at the three of them on the bed. “I’ll go check on Bruce and Tony.” Steve said before stepping away from Clint. Sadly Steve jinxed it, Bruce walked into the bedroom. Clint gave Bruce a worried look and opened his arms for him. Bruce walked defeated into Clint’s arms. “I tried, he just won’t listen to me right now. He’s scared to go to bed and then hurt Y/N if he wakes up” Bruce explained quietly. Steve sighed. “I'm going to talk to him, this is the biggest load of bull shit i’ve ever heard, and that is saying a lot.” he fumed before leaving the bedroom.
Bruce looked over at the bed and saw Natasha asleep against Thor with Y/N on her lap. Thor was still reading the story to their koala. Clint looked down at Bruce. “Wanna go sit with them?” Bruce nodded and Clint smiled as he helped Bruce to the bed. He made sure Natasha, Bruce and Y/N were okay with Thor, who was now happily reading the next story in the book, before following after Steve.
When Clint was close to the lab he could hear Steve and Tony yelling at each other. He walked around the corner and saw Tony tinkering on one of his suites while Steve yelled from Bruce’s desk.
“Just don’t Steve, just don’t, okay? I am not going to bed!” Tony hissed as he slammed down his screwdriver. “No, I won't let you stay up like this. You have to sleep, you need sleep to function. How are you supposed to take care of yourself or Y/N if you are not sleeping, not well rested. You know it's safe in the bedroom, you know you won’t hurt us or Y/N. You know damn well that you are just running away right now!” Before Steve could say more Clint put a hand on his back and gave him a look.
Tony looked over at Steve when he didn’t continue his rant. He saw Clint by Steve's side, he let out a big sigh before responding. “I think I know my own health better than you do Star Spangled Banner. Now leave me alone! I do not need this! I do not need sleep. I do not need you, or anyone else to take care of me! I am fine!” He yelled at both his husbands. He didn’t need them, didn't need to be told he wasn't actually doing fine, but even with a few years of therapy and loving partners, Tony could still fall back into old habits.
Clint tried to reach out for Tony, tried to tell him he was wrong but yelling came from the hallway before he could. A very angry Natasha, followed by Thor and Bruce came Into the lab. Y/N in her arms. “Anthony Edward Stark! Hold your child!” She hissed before handing Y/N over to Tony. Y/N reached out for Tony and he reluctantly took them from Natasha. “Daddy…” Y/N whispered into Tony's shoulder. This broke Tony a bit, not just a bit, but more than he liked to admit.
“I… I think I might need some help… And Someone to take care of me and take me too bed…” Tony admits as he held the little koala. Natasha smiled and grabbed onto Tony's arms. “Let's get you two to bed. Thor will continue his story and you two can cuddle with Bruce. We'll deal with the rest tomorrow” Natasha said before leading Tony away from his work.
Soon after both Y/N and Tony were on the big bed. Thor reads more of his stories to Y/N, and the others. As Bruce held Tony close with Y/N in between their science sandwich. Y/N was already fast asleep when Thor finished the first story. With Natasha following shortly after. Clint was the next one to fall asleep, somewhere between story three and four, happily in Steve’s arms. Thor fell asleep while reading after Steve fell asleep. But Tony stayed awake, like Bruce. Him keeping an eye on Tony.
“Want to talk about it?” Bruce asked Tony, he was worried. “Not right now. Is that okay? we will talk about this later?” Tony answered to which Bruce pulled him closer, letting Tony be the little spoon. “Yeah, that is okay. But we are going to talk about this, because we are worried and want to help you, because we love you. Just like we love this little koala.” Bruce said before fixing Y/N’s hair a bit. “Just let us help you like you always want to help them.” Tony nodded his head slowly before kissing Y/N’s head. “We’ll talk after I slept for more than 6 hours.”
“Just close your eyes” Bruce whispered before he felt a small kick against his back. “Go to sleep” Steve whisper yelled tiredly. Y/N hugged Tony’s arm and snored a bit as Bruce and Tony finally closed their eyes to sleep.
<--------------------------------------------------------->
Somewhere in the middle of the night Soap, the sheep plushie, fell out of the bed. This was quickly noticed by Y/N who started to wiggle out of the science sandwich. they crawled to the end of the bed and reached over the end towards Soap. they almost had the plushie before losing balance. With a small thud they fell off the bed and hit their bum on the floor.
Loud crying woke everyone but Clint, he didn’t wake up since he didn't have his hearing aid on. Yes he forgot to take them out after falling asleep next to Thor and the battery was now dead. Steve was the first to get to Y/N he picked up the little one and the sheep. “shhh, baby doll, it’s okay. Daddy is here, shhh, you’re safe in daddy’s arms.” Steve whispered to Y/N. Thor shifted over to Steve and Y/N and carefully took them from Steve. He gently put Y/N underneath his nightshirt and held them and Soap against his chest.
Thor always thought Y/N was given extra sensitive and given bigger emotions by the gods then normal people, or Asgardians. They were he’s sensitive little angel, who needed a lot of touch to feel safe and deal with the big emotions and feelings. “There we go little poptart. Nice and warm with pappa, no one can hurt you here.” Thor rubbed Y/N’s back as he took them back to the bed. Steve smiled at Thor and how comfortable Y/N looked against him. “Owh look at you, are you comfy with pappa?” Natasha asked the sleepy toddler when Thor lay down next to her. Y/N nodded their head and stuck their thumb into their mouth.
“So no need for a science sandwich anymore I see. Well i'll be back in the lab if you all need me” Tony announced and tried to walk past Bruce and Steve. Only for Steve to grab Tony by his shirt collar and pulls him back towards him and Bruce. “You need sleep, Tony. Back in bed.” Steve said in a stern but caring tone. “Or what?” Tony tried. “Or I will lock the lab and you won’t be able to go in until we think you can go in again. No more new Ironman suites or weird nicknacks. No more Peter Parker coming over for his ‘internship’.” Steve answered. The thing about not doing fun science things with Peter did it and Tony walked back to the bed. Tony liked (Loved) Peter too much, some might say he was his son.
Bruce and Steve made it back to the bed and lay down besides the others. Y/N was already fast asleep again underneath Thor’s shirt. Clint was still asleep and snoring as Natasha cuddled up to him. The others pulled the covers back up and snuggled up before going back to sleep. Tony did try to sneak out of bed again once when he thought everyone was sleeping. only for Steve to pull Tony back onto the bed and hold him against him.

mob stucky x child reader
Summary: you are only seven years old but always run away from your home because of your brother what happens when you catch the attention of your brothers rival mob,
You ran passing people, you were only seven but your brother was a mob leader but he was terrible, he had no morals or honor, if he didn’t like someone’s answer or the way they spoke her would shoot them dead,
You were constantly his target, abusing you, not feeding you, locking you in a room for days,
You always ran away when you got a chance, always on the streets, most of the locals know you, his henchmen on your heels, you quickly look around in a panic, you see three men looking at you suspiciously as you looked around in a panic you see a nice looking car, you run towards it rolling under the car just in time when you hear the men out of breath,
“can I help you?” You hear
“This is our turf.” Another voice
“Tell Damian if we catch any of his men here again we’ll have no choice but show him how serious we are,” a voice says
“Y-yes sir,” one says running off
You roll out from underneath the car and started running, you had to keep going if your brother catches you again you knew you couldn’t afford being caught again ever since your parents died mysteriously your brother took over the business,
No one wants to business with him most of the businesses cut their ties with him,
Bucky, Steve were standing outside their office building discussing business with Tony when this small girl in a hoodie that went past her knees and a pair of grey leggings some old worn out shoes she looked around in a panic as she skidded on the stones, her dark hair was whipping around as she looked around without hesitation she ran to Tony’s car rolling under it all three men found this odd but when they seen who was chasing her it made a bit more sense a bit,
“can I help you?” Bucky says
“This is our turf.” Tony says
“Tell Damian if we catch any of his men here again we’ll have no choice but show him how serious we are,” Steve said with malicious to his voice
After the men ran they see the girl was gone when they checked under the car,
But what they were all curious about is why they were after such a small kid, she didn’t look older than three, then have seen you a few times but didn’t really bother you but now they have a feeling something was going on,
with just a look Bucky understood what Steve was signaling and he left,
It was past noon when you finally stopped for a break it was a bunch of food trucks and fruit stands, you were peeking from behind a motorbike looking at the food,
“Grab what you need..” you mumbled
You hated stealing but it was why your brother kept you around, sneaking into small places only you could fit, stealing and gathering what he needed, and gone without a trace,
You took a deep breath bumping into the plumb stand on purpose but, making it look like an accident,
The fruit falls to the ground,
“I’m so sorry,” you say picking them up and pocketing a few
“That’s quite alright dear,” the old lady says with a smile
You hated stealing but you had to, In order to survive,
Little did you know Bucky was watching you and how skilled you were with pocketing the fruit, this made him smirk,
as you quickly rushed out of the area and into a alleyway you took a bite of the plumb relishing in the taste you cannot remember what your last meal was,
After finishing the food you were leaving only for someone to grasp your bicep, you swung your foot into their shin only to hear a grunt,
You look up seeing a man with dark hair and icy blue eyes
You stomp on his foot as hard as you could, he grunted loosening his grip you quickly yank your arm out of his grip running as fast as you can,
Bucky watched as you ran seeing your dark hair sway from under the hood of the hoodie,
He smirked,
“I’ve got you in my sights now little fox.” He smirked

In the Wake of Us - PROLOGUE
Parent!Bucky x Child!GN!Reader x Bob Reynolds
‼️⚠️TWs: Canon typical trauma+violence, brief allusions to SA, Brain washing, MCD (or so you think)⚠️‼️
HELLOOOOO MY NEW GAGGLE OF FOLLOWERS! YOU HAVE BEEN HEARD! Ask and you shall receive, I must give the people what they want. I’m still working out how I want this fic to go with how early or late in the timeline it starts, though I might mess around with the idea of flashbacks when they’re relevant. Bob’s not quite in this yet, but it felt necessary to provide a little somethin somethin beforehand. I hope I am up to Tumblr’s standards as a long time reader of fanfic, because I cranked this out over two days between prepping for finals and other activities (and wrote this entirely on my phone)
I am not very confident in this one because it is just providing basically a summary ofthe necessary information the best I can to set stuff up for the future, rest assure the normally paced story will be MUCH better 🙏
Feel free to comment suggestions or feedback (but please be nice to me I haven’t posted publicly since wattpad in 2019)

The faint buzz of the lights was the only sound in the room as a moment of silence passed between the two who sat across from one another. The woman with the clipboard looked up at you overtop her glasses, which now sat on the lower bridge of her nose. She shifted her position slightly, still looking at you with the usual intensity— or rather the lack thereof. She had an unsettling air of neutrality about her that always seemed to irk you.
“Barnes, for the last time, if you do not participate fully and truthfully in this session, you will not be given release. I don’t want to delay you any further, but rules are rules. I have to make a final report.” She spoke, her pen sat between her index and middle fingers as she gripped the clipboard. You meet her eyes for the first time as you slouch back in your chair.
“It’s been.. what, five years and you’re still calling me that? Even though I’ve told you that calling me anything else is fine? Barnes doesn’t belong to me. You wound me, Doc.”
“It’s what you selected to be put on your official documents.” She adjusted her glasses before looking back up at you. “Consider it for old time’s sake, then. But still, Y/n, you’re avoiding the question. In your own words, describe a brief history of your life. Including everything you’ve begrudgingly discussed within our sessions. We’re doing this so we can send a transcript to your next specialist. Wouldn’t you prefer to give your side of the story instead of just your records?” Taking in her reasoning, you glance at the microphone recording this session. They were usually recorded for security purposes but this in particular was for just for documentation. With a deep breath, you reluctantly began explaining your very.. humble beginnings.
Your conception was begun roughly around the late 60s, although conceptualized much earlier with the apparent success of the winter soldier program. A series of roughly twenty children were to be conceived from hand-selected pairs of up-and-coming male and female super soldiers, all based on their first and only success; the original Winter Soldier. You were lucky enough to receive your genetic makeup from the blueprint; as well as a promising young woman. It was an unfortunate truth that your conception was not a happy story. Genetic engineering was rudimentary at the time and they did not care to what extent their “donors” suffered. Even with this reluctant knowledge, the intimidating man with the metal arm has cared deeply for you even in the circumstances you both found yourself in. He said you were a beautiful little test tube baby from what he remembers. Hydra quickly introduced you to one another in hopes of forming an early bond between soldiers, primarily in pairs with their best-suited parent. This was to not only establish partners that functioned perfectly together but to have something to hold over these people even when they previously had nothing. You called this guardian of yours “Soldat”, but much like you, he had no real name.
One by one, the adults failed the program or their children did. One by one there would be one less soldier. It was survival of the fittest, not only for being put against one another but for general survivability. Genetic modification was a large factor in many of the children’s deaths until few remained, then in your early childhood- only you. You were all that remained. In a desperate attempt to not have this all been for nothing, they put everything they could into you. Biomechanical enhancements to help your physical condition and functionality and a steady stream of serum to keep you healthy. For the first several years of your life, it was spent exclusively learning and training. Occasionally when the winter soldier was due for a mission, his break from cryostasis would be extended by higher-ups to train her. It was rough, of course, being a child training with such a violent force, but he cared whenever he could. For some reason, kneeling down before you to aid your wounds felt oddly familiar. Like he had done it routinely before to another little girl he cared deeply about. Hell, you even looked similar. But at the end of the day, his thoughts were irrelevant. His job was not to think, his job was to do as he was told. You learned this very quickly as it became clear that failure to understand this would result in something awful. You were a quick learner— you had to be if you were to continue surviving.
Once they decided you were adequate enough to be functional as a weapon, you began your cryogenic stints, only being woken up when it was time for another task. This wore heavily on your already fragile condition, even despite your inhuman strength. This also happens to cause another subsequent issue with you, your aging being incredibly messed up. Yes, you were conceived nearly 60 years ago, but you’ve only been conscious for a small part of that. In 2014 you were still practically a young teenager when the Winter Solider made his great escape. In his emotional distress, he made perhaps the most regretful decision of his life. He left you behind in the hands of the enemy, escaping without you. You only followed much later after being sent after him to end his life, but when you were met with the opportunity to, you simply couldn’t. You ran off, not back to Hydra, but going into hiding for the time being. You used what skills they taught you in case you needed to be self-sustainable until you could be recovered by backup, but it was hardly enough. It was incredibly challenging having to figure out how to get by on your own after being constantly monitored and treated by professionals. Not only that, but you were suffering from withdrawals due to Hydra forcing your dependency on the serum, as well as an injury from when you dug out your tracker from your bicep. You had a nasty infection by the time your “Soldat” found you, but he was joined by a strange new man who offered you help. His name was Steve Rodgers, that Captain America fellow you and the Winter Soldier were sent after a while ago. He was incredibly kind to you, even if you didn’t trust him. He was patient with not only you but him as well. The two seemed close- you hadn’t ever seen this side of him. This is also when you decided on your new name; Y/n Rebecca Barnes. Bucky chose your middle name, saying it was after someone special.
This is also when you learned a lot about the man you previously thought you knew. It turned out his name was James, James Buchanan Barnes. Even if his name was James, he seemed to prefer Bucky. He was also from New York City, where he grew up alongside Steve during the Great Depression. Over time you felt more and more distressed upon the realization that you didn’t know Bucky at all, let alone yourself. You realized early on that you were a reminder of a profound amount of trauma for a man who got mixed up with something he never deserved. You desperately tried making yourself better, especially for his sake, but there was only so much you could do. You still stuck to your habits, your purpose— to serve alongside the winter soldier.
You fought valiantly for your freedom, doing what you could to protect Bucky against these people who wished to get ahold of you both. Between half of the Avengers coming after you as well as the United States government, you were stretched pretty thin. Bucky swore that you both would get through this, that he would give you the life you deserved. He struggled to believe himself sometimes, but he knew he had to try. He would get better for you. He would atone for his sins by doing what he can for you. He had a life outside of Hydra before being captured, but you never got the chance. Without realizing it, you both became devoted to the safety of one another.
It would become apparent the world was against you both, as during a fight attempting to exit Siberia, you were wounded as you defended him from a harsh blow. Steve and Bucky were forced to decide between saving you or escaping, but you pleaded with them to follow through with the latter. They did, albeit begrudgingly, after Natasha promised Steve that she would look out for you until they could come back for you. Nat did this as best as she could and for as long as she could, but instead of going to the raft with the others, you were imprisoned in a top-secret base to be studied. You only got to experience freedom for a short time prior to this, so even if the conditions were considerably better than Hydra, it was still awful. You spent so long wondering if Bucky was alright, hoping your sacrifice wasn’t for nothing.
Nearly two years later, you were allowed visitation with Steve. It was a sweet reunion, almost immediately bringing your worry over Bucky to an end, but it ultimately was to discuss something very important. None other than your possible pardon. There was something brewing and all hands on deck were needed; including you. After all, you were a world-class assassin. Plus, Wakanda was developing a cure for Bucky whilst being a refugee there. It was nice to know he was somewhere safe even if he missed you as much as Steve said he did, based on what he’s heard from communicating with T’Challa and Shuri about his condition. With vague permission from the United States government, you headed out with Steve’s team to Wakanda. You and Bucky were going to be together again and fight together, just like it was for old time’s sake.
When you walked through the central part of Wakanda, your mind was elsewhere, not taking even a moment to admire your surroundings. You were only focused on getting back to him as you walked silently behind Steve. You weren’t used to being in foreign places without Bucky so you were completely on edge, even with Nat doing her best to make sure you didn’t freak out completely. Steve was the first one to greet Bucky as he was led by T’Chally. The two were happy to see one another again, Steve giving him a hug and exchanging fond remarks. Once they parted from the hug, Bucky saw you standing there. You had grown up slightly, a sight he wasn’t used to seeing. It made his heart ache as he took you into his arms as tightly as he could without harming you. It was hard not to allow the tears brimming your eyes to fall in front of your allies, but Bucky still held you close and buried his face into your hair as you instinctively nuzzled into his neck. Quiet exchanges of how much you missed one another were shared. As you both parted, he moved his hands to your shoulders. He looked at you with the most love you had ever seen before quietly remarking. “You’ve grown up. It’s good to see you, kid.” It was a very genuine sentiment he shared, as for the entirety of his time caring for you, your survival was not guaranteed. He never thought he’d be able to see the day when you look like you’ve gotten a chance to regroup yourself.
You spent what time you could together discussing what life had been like over the last two years for the both of you. He lived a peaceful life as a farmer, while you were under the care of the United States government. You both received very different treatments for your brainwashing, with his somewhat holistic treatment being more successful than your purely clinical and scientific one. Your brain was poked and prodded, while he received therapy. Bucky told you that once this was all over, the Wakandans said they could help you too. It gave you hope, more than you’ve had in a very long time. Soon after this conversation, it was time for what you came here for. Saving the world.
Loss was a thing you had become accustomed to a long time ago. But this felt incomparable. The fight was over, Thanos had won. He had successfully removed half of all life and with just the snap of his fingers, you watched the only person you’ve ever trusted turn to dust. He was gone and it felt like you had nothing left. With the chaos that followed this, you returned home with Steve. He did his best to console you but he was struggling with the loss of his best friend for the second time. Because of the aforementioned chaos of the situation, the government essentially went on lockdown while it attempted to regain control over the situation. This unfortunately meant your incarceration for the second time with no end in sight. You had no one left to fight for you. Steve certainly tried, as he knew that’s what Bucky would’ve wanted, but he could only do so much. He was spread thin after the blip and you fell through the cracks.
You would remain in prison for five years, with constant experimentation traded for frequent monitoring performed. It felt as though you were forgotten about and would never taste that sweet, sweet freedom again. You always thought you’d die alone and without any freedom, but after having it for such a brief moment in your life, it only seemed to twist the knife into the wound. You forced yourself to adjust and get used to it, just like you always had. You grew accustomed to the monotony of constant scheduling very quickly. It became a cycle of government-mandated therapy, frequent checkups, and doing what you could to use up the passage of time. You received permissions for good behavior that were enough to keep you somewhat sane for the most part. Steve visited you when he could, but one day he stopped coming. You learned why when you saw the news: the 50% that had been lost were returning.
Now here you were. About a month or two later, still in here. The only word you got was from the news on the television, making the theory you genuinely had been lost to time all the more real and fearful. That was until a week ago. You received mail for the first time in a long time— an official government document. Your case of a pardon was being reopened; alongside Bucky’s. That’s what brought you here. You were having your last mandatory session within your prison before you were being released, and boy were you thankful to get out of here.
“Well, aren’t we both glad I remembered to hit record? I believe we are just about out of time.” Doctor Miller spoke as she placed down her clipboard.
“What, no ‘same time next week’?”
“Not this time. Enjoy your long-awaited freedom, Y/n. It was good treating you.”

We're a Family
Summary: You and Natasha are taking your first vacation since the birth of your 5-year-old daughter. While you and Natasha are off on a romantic getaway to Paris for your anniversary, how will your Avengers family handle watching your daughter for the weekend?
Pairings: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Genre: Fluff, Comfort, Romance
Word Count: 4.3k
Warnings: Some mentions of grief.
A/N: Thank you so much for the positive feedback on Come Home to Me! I hope to keep writing as I feel inspired and have time. This story takes place after the events of Endgame. Tony survived defeating Thanos with the Snap, and Steve brought Natasha back after returning the Soul Stone to Vormir.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Natasha questioned for the third time that Friday morning as you gathered the last essentials for your 5-year-old daughter to take to the Avengers Compound. You and Nat were taking your first vacation together since your child's birth in celebration of your wedding anniversary. Understandably, your wife was struggling with the idea of leaving your daughter. It was all you could do to convince Natasha to drop her off at preschool, let alone leave her overnight.
“Love, we’ve talked about this. It’s only for the weekend. Mila is going to have a great time. Besides, there is nowhere safer for her than surrounded by Avengers. You trust them with your life,” you remind her reassuringly as you rub gentle circles on her back.
“Exactly. My life, not my child,” Nat muttered.
It had been five years since you gave birth to your and Natasha’s daughter. Your whole world changed from the moment you both laid eyes on her. Soon after, Nat transitioned into semi-retirement with guidance from Clint. She was still available for consultation and recruit training or if the situation was dire, but you and Mila are her number one priority now.
You heard little feet padding down the hall as your daughter entered your bedroom. Her red curls bounced up and down on her head. “I'm ready, Mommy and Mama!” Mila squealed.
“Oh, Moya Lyubov, you look so pretty! Did you dress yourself this morning?” Natasha asked, getting down to her level.
“Yes! I wanted to match Auntie Yelena!” as she showed off her mini black vest that Yelena made her for her last birthday, worn expertly over her pink tutu.
“Auntie Yelena is going to love it, sweetheart. You’re going to have so much fun with your aunts and uncles this weekend,” you said, hugging her tight.
After packing your luggage in the car, you drive to the compound. FRIDAY greets you as you exit the main elevator. “Good morning, Ms. Romanoff, Ms. Y/L/N.” The team is awaiting your arrival in the common room.”
“Thank you, FRIDAY,” you replied as Mila let go of Natasha’s hand and ran ahead of both of you, having been here several times already in her young life.
As you enter the room, you see Wanda and Vision in the kitchen, and the smell of freshly baked cookies wafts through the air. Peter and Kate are playing video games, Bucky and Sam are playing cards with Clint, and Steve is quietly reading Moby Dick.
“Little spider!” Yelena called out as she entered the room, and Mila ran into her arms.
“Auntie Yelena! Do you like my outfit? I got dressed all by myself!”
“I love it, malayshka. It's so much cooler than Mama’s outfit,” Yelena says as she side-eyes her older sister with a smile. “We are going to have so much fun this weekend.”
“Yeah, about that,” Natasha interrupted. “Mission briefing in five.”
Mission briefing?" you asked, confused. "Nat, we're going on vacation, not a stakeout.”
“Yes, but they have the most important mission of all, watching our daughter,” motioning to the group before you.
Your heart warms at how protective your wife was—the Black Widow. She was a woman who would run into a collapsing building or intercept an alien invasion without batting an eye, but the moment she became a mother, everything changed. She vowed to give Mila everything she never had as a child. To break the cycle of uncertainty and pain that the Red Room forced upon her. Truthfully, you were so proud of how far Natasha had come. From growing up believing love was for children to giving nothing but love to both of you.
The living room came alive with spirited debate as Tony and Bruce burst through the door. Their voices layered with excitement and frustration over their latest nanotech calculations. Pepper trailed closely behind, an amused smile playing on her lips.
“Hey, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, park it,” Natasha declared.
“Ah, Rushman, wonderful to see you as always,” Tony says, winking at Nat. She rolled her eyes in response as Tony and Bruce hugged you before sitting down, and Pepper picked up your daughter.
“Come on sweetie, do you want to go play with Morgan?” Pepper asked.
“Yay!” Mila cheered as they walk down the hall to Morgan’s room.
“Okay, here are some quick dos and don’ts for this weekend. No guns, no repulsor rays, no arrows, and no using our daughter as a beta test subject for any new experiments. When Thor gets here, no Asgardian beverages in front of our child. Mila’s bedtime is 7 pm, and she likes it if you do the characters' voices when you read her bedtime story. If she has trouble falling asleep, a lullaby usually does the trick. Got it?”
“Geez, this is almost as bad as Budapest,” Clint whispered to Kate.
“It’s going to be alright, Natasha,” Wanda reassured. “We’re a family. You know we would do anything for that little girl. Please, go and enjoy your anniversary. No one deserves some special alone time more than you two,” Wanda said, as she hands you a tin of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for the trip.
You put your arm around Natasha and kiss her cheek. “Wanda is right, my love. Mila will be fine.”
Just as you complete the sentence, Mila runs back into the room. “Mommy, Mama! Morgan has Puss and Boots: The Last Wish, and we will watch it tonight before bedtime.”
“That sounds like so much fun, sweetheart! I know you will be a good girl for your aunts and uncles, and Mommy and Mama will see you on Sunday night, okay? We love you so much.” you said.
“Okay, Mommy. I love you!” She said as she hugged you so tight. Natasha knelt to kiss your daughter on the cheek and squeezed her hand three times. Their unique way of saying I love you. After one last hug and kiss, you walk to the Quinjet. Tony had offered one for easy and convenient travel.
*^~^*
By the time you arrive at your hotel in Paris, it’s almost dinner time. After sightseeing, you two enjoyed a gourmet candlelit dinner under the Parisian moon and a romantic stroll under the stars. When you returned to your room, you received a text message from Clint with a photo of your daughter asleep on her bed—lovingly cuddled under a blanket with Yelena.
“See, she’s okay,” you said lovingly as Natasha smiled at the picture of her little girl and her little sister.
As you lay in bed that night, you feel more grateful than ever to be here with the love of your life. Both of you had learned firsthand to never take anything for granted.
You were one of the lost souls left behind after the Blip. Struggling with the loss of your loved ones, you began attending Steve’s Brooklyn Support Group once a week. It was after one of those meetings that you were first introduced to the Black Widow.
Natasha hesitated at first to let anyone in. She was too scared to lose anyone else and was convinced that nothing should take away from her commitment to bring everyone back. However, she still found any excuse to attend Steve’s meetings. Whether that was to bring homemade peanut butter sandwiches for the snack table or shyly offering to give you a ride home.
You weren’t a hero or a super soldier. You didn’t remind Natasha of the guilt she carried over the last five years as the fallout from the Blip continued. You were just yourself, which Natasha loved the most about you. You began to visit her at the compound, and slowly but surely, the walls came down for both of you.
When she told you about the Time Heist, you didn’t want to hear it. You couldn’t comprehend the thought of losing Natasha, but you knew she believed in her heart that she owed it to everyone they had lost to try. When Clint returned from Vormir alone and dropped to his knees, so did you. Grief overtook you all over again.
As the Battle for Earth became inevitable, the team hid you in a safe house off the grid. Days went by and you lost track of time, stuck in your grief and unaware of what was happening. It wasn't until a knock on your door awoke you in the middle of the night that you dropped to your knees again. This time in shock at the sight of Natasha on your doorstep. Tears streaming down her face, she told you they had won. Tony defeated Thanos with the Snap, and Steve performed a miracle by bringing her back upon returning the Soul Stone to Vormir.
So much life has happened since then. You were married in a beautiful autumnal ceremony shortly after Nat returned and bought your house. Five years ago and twelve hours of labor later, you welcomed your daughter into the world that your wife sacrificed herself to save. You couldn’t believe how much you loved them both. Returning to the present moment, you gently move a strand of Natasha’s unbraided red hair away from her face. Her hands move effortlessly to the nape of your neck, and you lose yourself in her touch.
*^~^*
It’s Saturday morning back at the compound, and Mila is eating blueberry pancakes when Clint strolled in from his morning workout.
“Hey, squirt! Those pancakes look amazing. Did Auntie Wanda make those?” he asked, reaching for the extra plate of pancakes on the counter.
Before Mila can respond, the plate glides quickly away from him, enveloped in Wanda’s red magic. “Auntie Wanda did make those, but they’re only for adorable little girls named Mila. Is your name Mila?” Wanda said to Clint with a raised eyebrow.
“No,” Clint grumbled.
“Then make your breakfast, Hawkeye,” Wanda sighed, patting him on the back.
After breakfast, Sam and Bucky take Mila outside to play. Meanwhile, Steve is working on a mission report in his room when FRIDAY interrupts his concentration. “Mr. Rogers, I’m picking up an elevated heat signature from your shield just north of your location.” Steve looked curiously out the window to see Mila giggling as she slid across the grass. She is sitting on his overturned shield, pulled by a rope tied to the back of Red Wing.
“My shield is not a toy!” Steve yelled out the window.
“Oh, hey, Cap! It does make a great sled, doesn’t it?” Bucky answered, pretending not to hear what his best friend said, as Sam laughed out loud.
Steve shakes his head to hide his smile. You meant the world to him, having spent countless hours processing your grief together in that dark and dank recreation room in Brooklyn. He was honored when you and Natasha asked him to be Mila’s godfather. His shield was made from Vibranium, after all. If his goddaughter wanted to play with it, he knew no harm would be done.
That afternoon, Peter arrived at the compound to work on his newest suit upgrade with Tony. Mila is engrossed in coloring at the kitchen table with Auntie Kate when Peter walks in to get a soda.
“Hey Mila, what are you up to?”
“Coloring, do you want to help us?” Mila asked happily.
Peter nodded, and they got lost in her Disney Princess coloring book for the next twenty minutes. After adding pretty sparkles to Elsa’s Frozen dress, Mila noticed Peter’s Spider-Man suit sticking out of his bag.
“Pretty!” Mila said with wide eyes.
“You like it?” Peter asked.
“Yes, is this how you fly? Mama says you can fly!” Mila exclaimed.
“Something like that,” Peter chuckled and tousled her hair.
Down in the lab, Tony had been waiting for Peter to arrive for half an hour. Unusual, as his protege was typically annoyingly punctual. Running out of patience, Tony asks FRIDAY for Peter’s current location.
“Mr. Parker is in the kitchen with Ms. Bishop and the young Ms. Romanoff, sir.” Tony rolls his eyes as he trudged up the stairs.
“Hey Hawkette, have you seen Peter? He was supposed to — “
Tony stops as he sees Peter swinging from the ceiling with Mila on his back. Kate was too busy filming the spectacle on her phone to notice Tony standing there.
“Wee!! Faster, Uncle Peter!” Mila shouted as Peter’s web carried them across the room to the top of the bookcase.
Tony’s eyes follow the pair around the room. He put on his best poker face, “I won’t tell Romanoff or her better half, but if you break it, you pay for it. That includes the kid.” Tony warned.
“Sure thing, Mr. Stark,” Peter gives Tony a thumbs up.
“And for God’s sake, at least put some pillows down on the floor!” Tony hollered as he walked back to his lab.

You and Natasha took a Saturday evening cruise down the Seine River in the city of love. It was magical. When your phone alerted you to an incoming FaceTime from Carol, you had seen the Musée d’Orsay the Notre Dame Cathedral and had just reached the top of the Eiffel Tower. You swiped, her face appearing on the screen.
“Hey, you two, I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be on Earth-616 tomorrow for a meeting with Fury and thought I’d drop in on my favorite couple. Wait, where are you?”
“Paris, for our anniversary! Our first vacation alone in over five years. Can you believe it?” you said giddily as Natasha put her arms around your waist and lovingly kissed your cheek.
“Wow, that’s wonderful! Where’s your little mini-me?” Carol asked.
“With the team if you’re going there anyway, could you just make sure that everything is good with Mila?” Natasha inquired.
“Of course. You know you never have to ask.”
“Thank you, Carol,” you gratefully respond. We’ll be back tomorrow evening, so I’m sure we’ll see you then.” Carol gave you a mock salute before you ended the call and put your phone back in your coat pocket.
“You look so beautiful, dorogaya. After all this time, I still can't believe you’re mine.” Nat waxed poetically as she removed her scarf and wrapped it around your neck. Natasha could not look more beautiful in the glow of the Eiffel Tower. You decided this is the perfect moment to give her your anniversary gift. You slowly hand her the red velvet box you had snuck into your satchel. Her green eyes went wide at the sight of it.
“Detka! We said no gifts this year. This trip is gift enough,” Nat facetiously scolded.
“I know, but I still wanted to do something special for you,” you said sheepishly.
Natasha opens the box, revealing a simple, delicate gold heart locket necklace. Upon opening the pendant, she is greeted by a candid photo of all three of you. Clint took one during your last visit with his family in Iowa. Nat was sitting on Clint’s front porch with a smiling Mila on her lap. You are leaning behind her with your arms wrapped lovingly around her neck. It quickly became one of your favorite photos of your small yet precious family.
“This is so beautiful, Moya Lyubov. Can you put it on me?”
You moved Natasha’s braid away from her neck and clasped the necklace in the back. The heart locket fell directly on top of her own heart. It looked perfect on her. You're not sure who leaned in first, but your lips met in a kiss that made your stomach flutter like it was the first time. You couldn’t be happier than you were at that moment.

The Sunday morning sun was slowly breaking through the compound windows. Yelena was pouring your daughter a bowl of Cheerios and singing along to the sound of American Pie from her phone when The God of Thunder entered through the Bifrost. Mila jumped and started to hide behind her Auntie Yelena but ran toward him when she realized only her Uncle Thor was materializing before them, leaving his trademark on Pepper’s Persian rug.
“Must you do that every time? You’re becoming more of a poser than my sister.” Yelena remarked.
“Of course,” Thor said nonchalantly. “It is the only entrance fit for the God of Thunder.”
He lifted Mila with one arm, “Odin’s Beard! You’ve gotten so big since I last saw you, Mila,” Thor declared
“I know! Did you bring me a present Uncle Thor?” Mila squealed.
“Yes! Now, let’s see here… Asgardian Ale, Mead, no… ah, here it is!” He handed the little girl a small snow globe set in gold with her name engraved elegantly on the base.
“Wow. Pretty snow globe….” Mila whispered.
“It is indeed,” Thor said, sitting cross-legged on the carpet before the little girl. “This is a special Asgardian snow globe. Look, see the rainbow bridge inside it?” He pointed. “Most importantly, Lady Mila, if you shake it, I shall be there in a flash. If ever you need me, I will be there.”
“Thank you, Uncle Thor!” Mila said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. I’m going to show it to my Teddy Bear!” Running to her bedroom.
“You spoil her, you know,” Yelena stated with a smirk, as she began to clean up the kitchen.
“I know, but she is such a grand example of goodness and joy in such a tiny human. She deserves the world.” Thor declared.
Carol arrived shortly after lunch. After a short meeting with Fury in the conference room regarding upcoming mission targets, she finds your daughter in the compound courtyard. She is wearing her vest to match her favorite auntie as Yelena demonstrates the newest tricks Fanny has learned.
“Roll over! Good girl, Fanny!” Yelena praised the dog. Mila takes a treat out of her vest pockets with her tiny hand and tosses it to the Akita.
“Well done, Mila! Before you go home tonight, I will show you what else you can hide inside those pockets,” winking at her niece.
“Fruits and veggies, right, Yelena?” Carol deadpanned as Mila ran over and jumped into Captain Marvel’s arms.
“Auntie Carol! When did you get here?” Your daughter giggled.
“Just a little bit ago. I talked to your Mommy and Mama last night. They miss you and can’t wait to see you when they get home tonight,” Carol shared before kissing your daughter on the cheek.
*^~^*
As the sun started to sink on the horizon, casting a warm glow over the ancient city of Paris, you found yourself immersed in the rich history of the Louvre museum. You had eagerly anticipated this moment, and after spending the afternoon exploring the countless treasures within the museum's walls, Natasha was determined to ensure you had the chance to lay eyes on the iconic Mona Lisa. As you weaved your way through the bustling crowd of tourists, Natasha's determined presence caused a path to effortlessly clear before you as she kindly asked them to move the fuck over.
You returned to your hotel and enjoyed a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries when Natasha’s phone dinged.
Carol: Hey, lovebirds. It's all good here. Mila is doing great and excited to see you when you return. However, you may want to check her vest pockets when you get home for some “special” presents courtesy of Auntie Yelena. 😘
Natasha giggled, showing you the text.
“The important thing is that they’re bonding,” placing a delicate kiss on her temple.
Following Wanda’s delicious Chicken Paprikash dinner, your daughter watched Frozen II. Vision attempted to explain the science behind snowflakes to her when Tony strolled into the lounge.
“Hey, kiddo, do you want to come to the lab with me and see the new suit modifications that the Jolly Green Giant and I are working on?”
“Yay!” Mila said excitedly, jumping up and down.
“Sir, Ms. Romanoff indicated there was to be no experimenting with young Ms. Mila while she is in our care.”
“Relax, chrome dome. We’re just looking at the new holographic mockup.” Picking up Mila and carried her to his lab.
*^~^*
After a few hours, Natasha gracefully guided the Quinjet to a smooth landing. As the engines powered down, she took a deep breath and gently reached across the console to grasp your hand. Together, you gazed out at the glittering lights of the team living quarters in the distance.
"Thank you for making our anniversary so wonderful," you said. "I love you so much. I know it was tough for you to leave Mila for three days, but not only did we have a beautiful anniversary, but our daughter got to spend meaningful time with her family, which she will always remember." You pressed a kiss to her knuckles as Natasha caressed your cheek.
You were right, dorogaya. This was perfect. I’m sorry I was so nervous about leaving her. I just never thought I would have my happily ever after. That little girl and you are my everything. It breaks my heart every time I leave either one of you.
“I know, my love,” you said quietly. “Now, let’s go get our daughter and go home.”
As you entered the compound, the air was filled with shouting and the excited barking of Fanny and Lucky. Natasha instinctively reached for her spare Widow Bites, but before she could react, both of you heard the unmistakable sound of your daughter's laughter. Following the noise, you entered the common room to find your daughter joyfully running through the compound. She was wearing her pajamas and had one of Tony’s Iron Man helmets perched on her head while clutching a can of whipped cream. Yelena and the rest of the team were in hot pursuit, with puffs of whipped cream trailing behind her as she raced through the room.
Kate skidded to a stop in front of both of you. “Oh, you guys are back. Awesome! Umm, we made ice cream sundaes for dessert. Mila enjoyed hers, as you can see”, Kate motioned, breathing heavily.
Mila took her last lap around the couch when she caught sight of you and Natasha.
“Mommy, Mama! You’re here!!” she squealed, running into Natasha’s arms.
“Hi, Moya Lyubov, we missed you so much!!” Natasha said as she wrapped Mila in a big hug before passing her to you to do the same.
“It looks like you had fun with your aunts and uncles this weekend,” removing the helmet and brush a red curl away from her eyes.
“I had so much fun, Mommy! I got to eat yummy food, ride a sled, fly, and Auntie Yelena helped me hide special treasures in my vest pockets. Oh, and I got a magic snow globe with my name on it!” Your daughter rambled happily.
Natasha looked at you slightly skeptical, wondering if your sweet little girl was exaggerating. With your family, you were never quite sure.
“Wow, that sounds amazing, kotyonok!” Are you ready to go home now?” Nat asked as Mila gives you her best puppy dog eyes.
“It’s okay sweetheart, we’ll come back and see everyone next weekend. Why don’t you go get your Teddy bear?” you suggested.
“I’ll help her with her things,” Yelena said, scooping up your daughter and walking to her bedroom.
“We can’t thank all of you enough for taking such good care of her. I know she would stay here forever if we let her.” You said as you move through the group hugging every one.
She is always welcome here, you two know that.” Wanda said, confident she was speaking for the entire team.
A short while later, Mila emerged with her unicorn backpack, followed by Yelena, carrying more bags than she had when you dropped her off. You couldn't help but shake your head, knowing the team had showered her with gifts. Natasha crouched down to Mila’s eye level, tenderly placing her hand on her back. “Can you say goodbye and thank you to all of your aunts and uncles, dorogaya?” she asked. Mila made her way around the room, hugging everyone. It warmed Natasha to witness her family showering your daughter with so much love and affection.
Mila drifted off to sleep only five minutes after being placed in her car seat. Upon returning home, Natasha carried her to her bed with the utmost care. She tenderly laid Mila down, ensuring she was tucked in snugly, and then, both of you gently kissed her forehead before quietly slipping out of the room. You decided to postpone the unpacking until the following day, feeling too exhausted from the long journey. In the bedroom, Natasha was sitting in bed, engrossed in a book with her reading glasses perched precariously on the edge of her nose. The day's fatigue faded as you turned off the bathroom light and joined her in bed.
“I couldn’t have asked for a more romantic anniversary, my love,” you admitted as you carefully removed her glasses from her face and gently kissed her lips. “But there is nowhere I would rather be than at home with you and our beautiful daughter.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Nat said, returning the kiss.
As Natasha drifted into slumber, her mind wandered back to the tumultuous path that had brought her to this moment. She couldn't escape the memories of her past—a life of manipulation in the Red Room with no autonomy and the unending pursuit to cleanse her conscience of the bloodstains it bore. But then came the shot that Clint didn't take and the chance that Fury did. Her deeply unconventional yet cherished family culminated in the arrival of you and your precious daughter. In these precious bonds, Natasha Romanoff found the strength to thrive and, at long last, find peace.

Ooo can I please request a platonic!Dad!Steve Rogers fic where he adopts a 4 year old little girl whose parents died during the attack on NY? Maybe the little girl’s parents were shield agents and had her with them at work the day Loki attacked the SHEILD compound to get the scepter because they couldn’t find a babysitter, and her parents died during that attack. Loki takes Y/n with him maybe intending to raise her as his own, as a princess (he wanted to be King of Earth, what better way to continue controlling earth than having a Princess to take over in the future?) and he gives her powers with the scepter. But when the Avengers stop him (at the end of the Avengers movie) they find the little girl that he had taken, and they save her too when they find her hiding somewhere in the room where they stopped Loki (in Stark Tower). Clint was there when her SHIELD agent parents died so he knows who she is and that she’s all alone now. She gets reallyyy attached to Steve (he’s the only one who could get her to come out of her hiding place). Steve ends up adopting her and being the best, most sweetest and loving Dad in the world 🥹 And Y/n would so help her Dad with modern technology (like imagine he gets her and iPad and he has NO CLUE how to use it lol) as Steve at that point had only been out of the ice for about a year I believe so he’s all new to the times (Steve was so adorable in this movie!!)
Imagine when she calls him “Daddy” for the first time!! Steve would absolutely MELT!! And he’d help her control her powers and teach her when she can and cannot use them!

It’s not everyday that you get to go to work with your SHIELD Agent parents. They only brought you to work with them, because they didn’t have anyone to babysit you. You promised them that you would be on your best behavior and not get in anyone’s way.
You’ve always loved your parent’s job. You think they have the coolest job ever, especially today. They told you that they get to work with superheroes. You already knew Clint is Hawkeye and Natasha is Black Widow. The other superheroes your parents are working with today are Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk. You’re excited to meet Captain America. He’s your favorite superhero.
“Can I meet Captain America please?” You asked your parents politely.
“You can when he’s done talking to Director Fury, sweetie.” Your mom says.
“Ok, mommy.” You replied.
You went back to coloring in your coloring book. You were practically jumping up and down in your seat with excitement. You wanted to meet Captain America now. You looked up from your coloring book to see that Steve was done talking to Fury.
“Mommy! Daddy! He’s done talking to Director Fury!” You say.
You couldn’t contain your excitement anymore. You jumped down from your chair and ran over to Steve. Your parents chased after you. When you got to Steve, you tapped on his leg to get his attention. Steve looks down at you and smiles.
“Hi!” You smiled widely, waving at him. “I’m Y/N!” You excitedly introduced yourself to him.
“Hi!” Steve smiles back, crouching down to your height. “Can I help you with something?” He asks.
“You’re Captain America!” You said excitedly.
“Yes I am.” He replies. “You can call me Steve though.” He tells you.
“My mommy and daddy said they get to work with you today.” You tell him.
“Oh really? That’s cool!” He says.
You were maintaining a conversation with Steve by the time your parents got to you.
“Honey, you should’ve waited for us.” Your dad says.
“I’m sorry, daddy. I’m sorry, mommy.” You apologized, feeling bad that you didn’t wait for your parents.
“It’s ok, sweetie.” Your mom says softly.
Your dad picked you up and Steve stood upright.
“She doesn’t normally run away from us like that.” Your mom says to Steve.
“She gets excited over superheroes.” Your dad tells him.
“It’s ok. Your daughter is adorable.” Steve smiles at you.
“Can I take a picture with you?” You asked Steve.
“Of course you can!” He smiles.
Your mom grabbed your Polaroid camera she got you for Christmas and your dad carefully put you in Steve’s arms. You and Steve smiled for the picture and your mom took the picture.
“Thank you, Steve!” You say with a smile and hugged him.
“You’re welcome, kiddo!” Steve smiles and hugs you back.
Steve put you back in your dad’s arms.
“Listen to your parents, ok?” Steve says.
“Yes, Captain!” You say, saluting him.
Steve smiles at you when you saluted him. Your parents went back to work while Steve went to work as well. Your parents put you back at the table you were sitting at before you ran over to Steve.
As your parents were working, you drew pictures for Steve. It was a bunch of random little colorful doodles. You asked your parents if you can take the pictures to him and they said yes. You excitedly made your way over to Steve, making sure to not to get in anyone’s way. You climbed up onto the chair next to Steve and put the pictures in front of him.
“These are for you!” You smiled.
“Thank you, kiddo! They’re amazing!” Steve smiles back.
You explained what you drew for him. You told him that you tried to draw his shield, but then you turned it into a flower. Steve smiles at the creativity. You stayed with Steve for as long as you could before he had to get to work on the mission and you went back over to your parents.
———
When Loki somehow escaped the cell he was locked in, all hell broke loose. Steve, Tony, Bruce, Thor, Clint, and Natasha were working together and doing what they could to stop Loki, along with your parents. Your parents hid you somewhere safe before doing their part of the mission. You got scared every time you heard a loud noise, but you knew that your parents and the Avengers had it under control.
Clint was paired up with your parents when they somehow got caught in the crosshairs of Loki. Your parents were shooting at Loki when he aimed his scepter at them and blasted them with it. They got blasted backwards and rubble fell on top of them, killing them instantly. Clint’s eyes went wide and his heart dropped. He ran over to them, moving most of the rubble to get to them. He checked for their pulses, but they didn’t have one.
“Cap, we have a huge problem.” Clint says to Steve in his ear piece.
“What is it, Clint?” Steve asks.
“Y/N’s parents got blasted by Loki and crushed by a pile of rubble.” Clint tells him.
“Are they alive?” Steve asks.
“No. I checked for their pulses, but they didn’t have one.” Clint says.
Steve’s heart dropped. When all of this is over, he has to tell you what happened to your parents.
Meanwhile, you were safely hiding in a building somewhere nearby. Or so you thought. You screamed when you seen what it looks like a metal dragon to you. It hit the building you were in, creating a huge hole in the wall. You didn’t dare to move. You were too scared to move. That’s when Loki entered the building through the hole in the wall. Loki grinned wickedly when he saw you. You screamed and scrambled to stand up, running as fast as you could away from Loki. You didn’t get far. Loki grabbed you and exited the building. You squirmed in his hold on you, trying everything you could to get away from him.
“Stop squirming!” Loki yells.
You froze in his arms. At this point, tears of fear were streaming down your cheeks. Loki stared at you with the same wick grin on his face.
“You would make a perfect princess when I rule Earth.” He says.
Your eyes went wide. You shook your head no frantically. You tried to get out of his hold again.
“Too bad you don’t have a choice, child.” He says.
You seen the tesseract glowing blue in Loki’s scepter. Loki pointed it at you.
“No!” You shouted.
Squirming in Loki’s hold and screaming was no use for you. Loki put his scepter against your forehead, sending a shock throughout your body. He smiles wickedly when he watched your eyes glow green.
“Perfect.” Loki grins wickedly.
You pounded your small fists against Loki’s chest to try to get out of his grasp. What looked like green lightening came out of your hands, making you cry in fear. You were scared to know what it means.
Clint seen Loki flying by. He aimed an arrow at him and shot it at him. Loki caught it with ease, smirking to himself. Then the arrow exploded, sending you and Loki through the window of Stark Tower. You were finally free of Loki’s hold. You ran away from him and hit somewhere in the tower. Hulk came through the same window that you and Loki went through, roaring at him.
“Enough!” Loki shouts as he stood up. “I am a God, you dull creature. I will not be bullied by-” Hulk grabbed Loki, slamming him into the floor repeatedly.
“Puny God.” Hulk says, walking away.
Loki laid on the floor, groaning in pain. After a moment, he sat up and was met by the Avengers who were standing in front of him and staring at him. That’s when they heard whimpers coming from a nearby room.
“Do you guys hear that?” Steve asks, looking at the Avengers.
The Avengers nodded. Steve followed the sound of your whimpers with Clint following next to him. The sound of your whimpers led them to a closed closet door. Steve opened it to see you holding your knees to your chest and crying.
“Y/N?” Steve says softly.
You looked up seeing Steve and Clint. You immediately ran over to Steve, hugging his legs. He bent down to pick you up, holding you close to him.
“You’re ok. You’re safe now.” Steve whispers, rubbing your back to get you to calm down.
Steve and Clint went back to the room the Avengers and Loki was in.
“Is that Y/M/N’s and Y/D/N’s daughter?” Natasha asks.
Steve and Clint nodded.
“I thought they were with you. Where are they?” She asks.
Clint points his head towards Loki. That was enough to tell everyone in the room that your parents died in the hands of Loki. You started freaking out when you seen Loki. Steve tightened his hold on you so you didn’t fall out of his arms, making sure to not hurt you. He sat you on the bar counter and checked you for injuries. You had scratches on your arms and legs, along with a cut on your forehead and cheek.
“Did Loki hurt you?” Steve asks softly.
You nodded your head yes and sniffled.
“What did he do to you?” He asks.
“His sword thing made green lightening come out of my fingers.” You tell him.
“You’re going to be ok. I promise.” He says.
You nodded. Now, here comes the bad news Steve has been dreading on telling you during the whole attack.
“You can handle big girl news, right?” Steve asks.
You nodded your head yes.
“We’re really sorry that we have to tell you this, Y/N.” Clint begins softly. “Mommy and daddy got hurt really bad in the attack.” He tells you.
For a 4 year old, you had a pretty good sense of what Clint meant by that. Tears filled your eyes again and your bottom lip quivered.
“No! Mommy and daddy promised me they would be ok!” You cried.
You full on broke down in tears. Everyone’s hearts broke for you. Steve picked you up and held you as you cried.
“I’m lonely now. I don’t have a mommy and daddy anymore.” You cried against Steve’s shoulder.
“You’re not alone, sweetheart. You have me.” Steve says softly.
You lifted your head and stared at Steve with teary eyes.
“I do?” You sniffled.
“Yes.” He confirms.
You smiled and hugged him. Steve felt a new warmth in his heart. In that moment, he knows what he has to do. He’s going to adopt you and raise you.
The next day, everyone met up where Thor was going to take Loki back to Asgard so they could figure out what to do with him. You ran to Thor and gave him a hug before he left. You ran back over to Steve. He picked you up, holding you. Everyone watched as Thor rose his hammer in the air, sending him and Loki to Asgard. Afterwards, everyone parted ways.
“Are you adopting Y/N?” Clint asks Steve.
“Yes. It’s the right thing to do.” Steve says.
Clint nods in agreement.
———
After that day, Steve got the papers to adopt you and signed them. You were beyond excited when he told you that he’s going to adopt you. He also made it clear to you that he’s never going to replace your parents. He just wants to be an adult you love and trust, in which he is.
He also got you moved into his apartment. He bought you toys, coloring books, stuffed animals, and other things a kid your age might need. Steve stocked the kitchen with your favorite foods and juices. He helps you control your powers when you can’t. He also discussed when and when not to use your powers.
As of right now, you’re watching cartoons and playing with toys in the living room. Steve went out to buy you a present while you’re at home with Clint and Natasha. They always babysit you. You don’t mind it when they babysit you. You just prefer to run errands with Steve. You were so focused on the TV that you didn’t hear the door open when Steve came home.
“Y/N, Steve is home.” Natasha says.
You immediately ditch the cartoon you’re watching and run to the door. You hugged Steve’s legs, smiling up at him.
“Hi, sweetheart.” Steve smiles, crouching down to hug you properly. “Did you have fun with uncle Clint and aunt Nat?” He asks.
“Yes, but I missed you.” You say with a pout.
Steve smiles and kisses the top of your head. He stood upright, walking to the living room where Clint and Natasha are. He thanked them for babysitting you before they left.
“I got you a present.” Steve tells you.
You squealed in excitement and climbed onto the couch, reaching out to grab the bag. Steve chuckles, loving how easily excited you get. He gives you the bag. You reached your hand in the bag and pulled out a skinny white box. You gasped excitedly when you seen the picture on the lid of the box. Steve bought you an iPad. He doesn’t know how to use it, but he’s seen it in commercials on TV and thought you would want one.
“Do you like it?” He asks.
“It’s so cool! I love it, daddy! Thank you!” You say happily.
You put the iPad on the couch and crawled onto his lap, hugging him tightly. Steve felt a warmth in his heart when you called him daddy for the first time.
“Did you call me daddy?” Steve asks, making sure he heard you right.
“Yes.” You looked up at him. “You’re my daddy now, right?” You asked.
“Of course I am, honey.” He smiles, kissing your forehead. “I want you to know I will never replace your real parents, ok?” He says softly.
“Ok.” You replied.
You grabbed the box the iPad is in and opened it. You carefully took the iPad out of the box. You found the on and off button and turning it on. Steve was confused the whole time he was setting it up for you, but he eventually figured it out.
“Can I play games and watch cartoons on it please?” You asked politely.
“Yes you can.” He smiles.
Steve allowed you to download kid friendly games to play and Netflix to watch your favorite movies and shows. He made sure that the movies and shows were kid friendly too. He allowed you to play on it on and off for the rest of the day to get used to it. Steve thought he was going to have a hard time getting you off of it when it was time for bed, but you didn’t give him a hard time. You listened to him and put it down when he told you it was bedtime.
“Daddy?” You say softly and tiredly.
“Yes, sweetheart?” Steve asks as he finishes tucking you into bed.
“I love you.” You say before falling asleep.
“I love you too, kiddo.” He whispers, kissing the top of your head.
Steve made sure you had a stuffed animal and turned on your night light before leaving your bedroom. He left it open a crack just in case you needed him sometime throughout the night.
Steve wasn’t sure how he was going to fit in the 21st century, but he figured it out when he adopted you. Even though, you’re not his biological daughter, he loves you like his own. He wouldn’t change that for the world.

Kate Bishop x Reader HC:
Your OG Avenger parents find out you’re dating Kate
Pairings: Kate Bishop x Reader (romantic); Thor, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers and/x Bucky Barnes, Tony Stark x Pepper Potts, Clint Barton x Linda Barton, and Natasha Romanoff x Maria Hill x Reader (familial) (No pronouns used)
Content Warnings: Kate being in a medically induced coma (Natasha’s HC only)
———————————————————————
Thor
Thor talks with you about your romantic life
It’s not an awkward thing, it’s just how your relationship has always been
You don’t talk about your courtships often, but if you don’t mention anyone to him for a couple months, he’ll ask about it
So as soon as Kate gives you her blessing, you tell your dad
You’re having your weekly dinner together when you tell him.
“Father, I’m dating someone new.”
“Wonderful!” Thor claps a hand on your back. “Woman? Man? Somewhere in between?”
“A woman. Kate Bishop.”
Your dad smiles. “The little hawk! Good, I like her. Bring her to dinner sometime so we can get more closely acquainted. I can tell her stories of your childhood.”
“Father!” Your protest falls on deaf ears as he keeps talking
“Yes, she will know all about how mighty you were, even as a little one. I can even show her the pictures—“
“Dad!”
Bruce Banner
Bruce knows you’re hiding something from him
But you don’t appear to be in any danger, so he doesn’t bring it up with you
You’ll tell him whatever it is when you’re ready
You know your dad knows that you’re hiding something
You also know he doesn’t know what you’re hiding
He’s never been the best at talking about feelings—his or yours
Especially romantic ones
When he gave you “the talk” he was more embarrassed about it than you, even though he kept reassuring you that everything your body felt and did was normal
He couldn’t make eye contact with you for a week after that
But his awkwardness isn’t the reason you haven’t told him your secret
You just don’t want to say anything until you’re sure your relationship is at least a semi-long-term thing
“Hey, dad?”
“Hm?” Bruce looks up from tinkering on his latest project
“I have to tell you something,” you fidget a little
“Sure,” he gestures to a free stool, “is everything okay?”
You suck in a deep breath. “Everything is great, actually. I, uh,”
Your dad looks at you expectantly. His calm demeanor is simultaneously soothing and nerve-wracking
“So, I’ve been seeing someone. A girl, specifically. One you know, actually. And we’re officially together - as in, she’s my girlfriend - so I thought I should tell you…and yeah,” you finish your rambling, breathless and with warm cheeks
“That’s great,” he smiles, “do I get to know which girl?”
Oh. In your rush to tell him, you’d completely neglected to mention the fact that you’re dating
“Kate Bishop.”
“Oh. Wow,” your dad’s face has gone from happy to surprised, and you feel your anxiety start to creep up again. He sees the look on your face and immediately stammers, “no no no, I’m happy for you, kid. I just didn’t realize she was your type. I mean, I didn’t really have any idea about what your type was before this, and I’m glad Kate is…I’m glad she makes you happy. She does make you happy, right?”
You definitely got your rambling from your dad. You smile, “she makes me really happy.”
“Well good,” Bruce wrings his hands together, “you deserve to be happy. And if she ever stops making you happy you tell me, okay?”
“Okay, dad.” It’s cute when he gets protective over you.
“I love you,” he stands and wraps an arm around you
“I love you too.”
Steve Rogers (and/x Bucky Barnes)
You and your dad have a tradition of watching movies together whenever you both have a free Friday night
Usually, your Uncle Bucky joins you, and when your dad is on a mission you occasionally watch with your uncle instead
But there are times when all three of you are busy, so you’re pretty sure you’re safe when you cancel occasionally to hang out with “friends”
AKA your girlfriend, Kate Bishop
(But sometimes your friends too)
It’s a Friday night, and Steve and Bucky are both on missions
You miss them, you don’t have anything else to do, and it’s been a while since your last movie night
So you decide to have Kate over instead
You end up with Kate cuddled into your side with your arm wrapped around her, both of you yawning even though you’re only halfway through the movie
Kate kisses your cheek lazily, “what if I just…” she begins lowering herself onto your lap, “close my eyes for a second? Not to sleep, just to rest.”
You laugh and card your fingers through her hair. She sighs contentedly, and soon you’re both dozing on the couch
Before you know it, someone is gently shaking your shoulder
“Whuh?” You startle awake and see Bucky staring down at you. Kate shifts, still asleep
“Hey kid.” He ruffles your hair
All the drowsiness instantly leaves your body as excitement takes over. Your dad and uncle weren’t supposed to be home for another few days
“Uncle Bucky!”
This finally wakes Kate, who rubs her eyes blearily, “Babe, wha—?” She stops mid-question when her eyes land on Bucky, “I-I mean…Bucky! Hi! Wasn’t expecting to see you here.”
“Nice save, Bishop,” Bucky smirks
Kate sits up and buries her face in the crook of your neck, groaning softly. “Sorry, babe”
You and Bucky stare at each other, daring the other to break the silence as you rub slow circles on Kate’s back
“So,” Bucky finally breaks, more for your benefit than anything else, “you and Bishop?”
This makes your face heat up. “Don’t tell dad. Please?” You beg. You’ve never brought anyone home before, and this is not the introduction you want
“Don’t tell me what?” Your dad picks that moment to walk in. Kate leans back from you to an approximately platonic distance
The look your uncle gives you says he’s not going to tell your dad, but you probably should
“I, uh, so the thing is—“
“We’re dating,” Kate blurts out, unable to resist Steve’s Captain America stare
Your dad looks at you, dumbfounded. “Oh,” he finally gets out
“Dad?”
“Well, I, for one, am happy for you two,” Bucky claps a hand on your shoulder
“As long as Hawkeye Junior doesn’t break your heart,” Steve levels Kate with an intense look and the latter aggressively shakes her head. He smiles, “and she has good taste in movies.”
relief floods you, even though Kate is a stuttering mess
“Yes, sir. I promise I have excellent taste in movies, Captain Rogers, sir.”
“Good,” Steve moves to sit on the couch and wraps an arm around you, the other beckoning to Bucky. “So, what are we watching?”
Tony Stark and Pepper Potts
Growing up, you’d see Kate at various functions
Your families ran in similar circles
You didn’t really get to know each other until high school, when you went to the same boarding school
The two of you quickly became best friends, but it took years for the two of you to realize your feelings weren’t just friendly
You agree not to tell your parents about your relationship because you don’t want things to get messy
But Kate is still your unofficial, official date to your dad’s annual New Year’s Eve party
At 11:59, the two of you sneak away from the party to your dad’s office and step out on the balcony as the countdown to midnight begins
You kiss her exactly at midnight, and you might…get carried away
You’re so wrapped up in each other that you don’t notice your dad and your step-mom open the door behind you
“Kid!” Tony is shocked to see you like this. “and Miss Bishop. What a surprise.” He doesn’t sound surprised at all to see Kate here
You and Kate jump back from each other at the intrusion, and your cheeks begin to heat up
“Dad! Mo—Pepper! What are you doing here?”
Your dad raises his eyebrows, “what am I doing? In my office?”
You have enough self-respect left to look decently sheepish. You’re waiting for Tony to chew you out when Pepper turns to him and smirks
“You owe me 50 bucks.”
Tony groans. “Thanks a lot, kid.”
“Wait, you were betting on me and Kate? How did you even know I liked her?”
Pepper turns her smirk to you, “we raised you, honey. We know you better than you think.”
“We’ll leave you two alone now,” Tony opens the door. “Just make sure to use protection,” he calls as he steps inside, Pepper following close behind
You bury your face in Kate’s chest and groan, “Daaaaad, gross!”
“Well, that went better than expected.” Kate’s shaking, and it’s not immediately obvious if it’s from fear or laughter.
You get your answer when you pull back and find her eyes gleaming. She kisses you again, a little more passionately
“Now, where were we?”
Clint and Linda Barton
You originally met Kate at a college archery tournament, and the two of you became fast friends, and then something more
She practically worships your dad, but you don’t tell her who he is to you
You use your mom’s maiden name in public for safety reasons, and you want Kate to like you for you, not because of your dad
After talking and going on dates for months, you finally asked Kate to be your girlfriend during Thanksgiving
It’s too soon to meet each other’s families, so you don’t invite her over for Christmas
So imagine your surprise when your dad walks in after being delayed in the city with your girlfriend and a golden retriever in tow
You stare, slack-jawed, unable to hide your surprise, Kate’s face a mirror of your own
“…and this is my eldest—“
Your name tumbles from Kate’s lips before she can stop herself
“You two know each other?” The look your mom is giving you tells you the gears are already turning in her mind. You haven’t told her you have a girlfriend, but she’s always known you so well
Kate’s eyes go wide in panic, “we know each other from archery!” She looks at you accusingly, and you know you’re in trouble, “I didn’t know Hawkeye was your dad.”
“How well do you know each other?” your dad is making weird eye contact with your mom, a clear sign they’re having a silent conversation. Your parents turn to look at you
Lila rolls her eyes. She’s the only person in your family who knows about you and Kate. Little sister privileges. “Guys, just ask the question you actually want to.”
“Is Kate your girlfriend?” Nate asks, saving your parents the trouble. Damn, the kid’s perceptive
You pick him up and look at Kate, silently asking if she’s okay with this. She nods. You turn to Nate and say, “She is, bud.”
“Well, I guess you two shouldn’t stay in the same room,” Clint says, “and Kate and I are going to go out into the woods and have a talk about what’s going to happen if she hurts you.”
“Dad, I’m an adult. I’m old enough to share a room with my girlfriend responsibly.” You don’t even try to argue with him about giving Kate the shovel talk. He’s done it to every partner his kids have brought home
“Bring the poor girl back in one piece, Clint,” your mom winks at Kate, who smiles nervously. Laura’s gaze hardens
“I want to have a chat with her as well.”
Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill
Your moms are extremely protective of you
This extends to your personal life
They run thorough background checks on all of your friends and their families
You know they will be even worse if you bring someone home
They’ve interrogated hundreds of people, and they know all about psychological torture
So…yeah, you haven’t told them you’re dating Kate Bishop
It’s hard keeping it from them, especially because they’re spies and you and Kate are both Avengers
But you’ve been incredibly careful
Whenever you’re in public, the two of you are just a pair of platonic bffs
But then Kate gets hurt on a mission
As soon as she’s brought to the Compound you’re by her side and you refuse to leave
They keep her sedated, but you still talk to her
“Hey, Katie.” You hold her hand and talk about anything and everything
Your moms walk in when you’re talking to her
“—and for our anniversary I was thinking we should recreate our first date,”
“Hi baby,” Natasha’s words startle you out of your rambling
“Mama! How much of that did you hear?”
“Enough to know you’ve been hiding your relationship from us,” Maria crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow
You gulp. “I wasn’t hiding it from you, I just didn’t say anything.”
Maria sighs. “We’ll talk about this later. How’s she doing?” She asks, gesturing towards Kate
“Stable. Her vitals are strong, and she’s starting to wake up on her own”
Maria puts a hand on your shoulder and looks directly into your eyes. “And how are you doing, kiddo?”
“I’m scared, Mom. I’m trying to be brave for her but it’s hard.”
“Oh, baby.” Your moms wrap you in a hug.
“We know how hard it is to see someone you care about like this,” Natasha says. Maria nods,
“We’re here for you, whatever you need.”
“Are you mad that I never told you about me and Kate?” You ask in a small voice
Natasha shakes her head. “Baby, no. We’re not mad. We feel bad you didn’t feel comfortable telling us sooner.”
“But we do want to talk to Kate once she feels better.”
“Mooooom, please don’t threaten my girlfriend.”
“We won’t threaten her, we’re just going to make sure she has good intentions and let her know what will happen if she breaks your heart.”
“Mama!”

Accidents Happen
Warnings: hospitals, mentions of injuries, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Avengers x reader platonic
Request: Hi hi! Can you please do a avengers x little reader? R is 6 and maybe Natasha or peter drop her off at school but a few hours after school starts they get a call saying she had an accident and got injured badly. So the whole team shows up at the school to rush her to the Emergency room and the person who dropped R off feels really guilty but the R tells them it wasn't their fault (also could R be wise for her age?) Anyways thanks feel free to ignore this or change some things thank you!
Request by: Anon
*not my gif*
Summary: Nat blames herself for the accident you had at school that causes the entire team to rush to the hospital
A/N: I loved writing this
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
“Thank you, Nattie!” You called, scrambling out of the backseat and sending a wide, toothy grin to the redhead.
Natasha smiled at you fondly, “You’re welcome, n/n, have a good day.”
You closed the car door and turned on your heels hurrying towards the entrance, excited for school to start. The woman couldn’t help but chuckle, you’re the only kid she’s ever met that’s been happy to go learn, especially at six years old.
She watched from the car until the entrance door swung shut softly behind you before she put the car into drive once more and set off to begin her no doubt long day, though a soft smile still lingered on her lips from her interaction with you.
-•-
“Where the hell is she?”
“What’s going on?”
“Do you know who I am? I could have you fired with the snap of my fingers!”
“This place is full of so many puny humans, and yet not a single one of them is giving me a straight answer!”
The outraged roars of Earth’s mightiests heroes might not have been what anyone in the hospital was expecting in the middle of the day, but to be fair- they were beyond stressed and concerned. They had no idea what was going on, not really.
About fifteen minutes ago, Natasha had received a phone call from your school- her being your emergency contact- in the middle of a debrief with her teammates. The principal on the other side of the phone had been very vague as she informed the woman that she had been in an accident and was rushed in an ambulance to the nearest hospital, all but hanging up before Romanoff could fire off any one of the thousands of questions racing through her mind.
Chaos had followed that phone call, the avengers all scrambling around, trying to get to the hospital as quickly as possible with no real direction as to what was going on.
So now, they stood in the lobby, anger and worry etched onto each of their faces respectively as they swung around in circles, demanding answers from any of the many people working there.
Bucky and Thor both looked seconds away from lunging towards the closest doctor and shaking them until they gave them an explanation and to point them in your direction.
Tony was sneering at every person that passed, trying to intimidate them while Steve tried to ask questions as calmly as he could. Clint looked seconds away from diving through the doors dedicated to doctors only.
The only one that was silent was Natasha. She stood in the middle of the chaos with her arms pulled around her stomach, face paler than normal and looking as though she might be sick.
She had dropped you off this morning. She had been the one to leave you at that school without a second thought. How could she not realize that something would go wrong? She always had a sixth about that kind of stuff.
And now, because of her lack of realization, you were somewhere in this vast building, lying in a hospital bed, all alone- probably scared. And she didn’t even know if you were alright.
“Miss. Romanoff?”
The voice automatically silenced all of the avengers and they all whipped in the direction of it.
The doctor who spoke, to her credit, didn’t look the least bit intimidated at being stared down by the people, instead glanced down at her clipboard, “You’re here to see Y/n L/n, correct?”
Natashas head immediately bobbed up and down, moving forward, fear gripping her heart, “Is she okay?”
A sympathetic and reassuring smile appeared on the woman’s face, “She’s going to be fine,” She assured the group.
Everyone's muscles immediately loosened and Natahsa felt a shaky breath leave her lips as fear's grip loosened a bit on her heart.
“What happened?” Tony demanded, still not fully convinced.
With an incline of her head, the avengers all piled after the doctor as she led them through the workers only door, “She was in an accident at school. Apparently she had been trying to jump to the monkey bars at recess, but misjudged the distance and landed at the wrong angle on the metal pole of the jungle gym, hitting her head. She was knocked out, so the school called us. She has a concussion, but she’ll be fine in a few weeks if you take the proper precautions. We can discuss those later.”
There it was again, the fear and worry and guilt that was consuming the redheads entire being. She could tell by their reactions that her team was feeling the same.
“Right in here.” The doctor cast them one last smile before leaving them at the door of your room.
Immediately, Bucky all but threw the door open and everyone rushed in, crowding into the small room.
Natahsa pulled up short at the sight of you, lying in the hospital bed, looking smaller than normal surrounded by all the big equipment in the oversized bed.
You turned your head with wide eyes at the sound of footsteps, but relaxed into a smile when you saw who it was.
“Hi, guys,” You piped happily- as if nothing happened- but your voice was a bit weaker than normal.
“Oh, n/n,” Nat breathed out, immediately falling to your side, crouching down, grasping your hand in hers and squeezing it, “Are you okay?”
You nodded, smiling up at the woman, “I’m fine, my head just hurts.”
The woman frowned, smoothing back your hair from your forehead, “Do you need anything?”
Apparently, the team had caught onto Romanoffs feelings of guilt a while ago, because they exited the room at that moment, knowing that they should give her some space with you for a few minutes to sort through her emotions. They hated leaving you, but knew you would always be safe as long as Natasha was around.
You shook your head- slowly so as to not hurt yourself more, “I’m fine.” You promised, “I’m happy you’re all here.”
A shaky breath once again slipped from the woman's lips, “I’m so sorry,” Her eyes were welled up with tears.
It was then your turn to frown, confusion pulling your eyebrows down, “For what, Nattie?” You had no idea what she was talking about.
“If I hadn’t left you today, if I had known that something was wrong, I never would’ve left you.” A single tear slipped down her cheek as she squeezed her eyes shut and put your still intertwined hands to her forehead.
You squeezed her hand once, “It’s not your fault, Nattie, you couldn’t have known.” You were smiling kindly at her now.
“But-”
You shook your head stubbornly, a trait she often wondered if you got it from her, “It’s not your fault. It could’ve happened to anyone and there’s no way to tell if or when it’ll happen. Accidents happen.” You insisted.
A shaky huff of a laugh left her lips as she pressed a kiss to your forehead, “When did you get so wise?”
A wide grin appeared on your face, “I always have been, you’re just noticing now.”

“You told me you weren’t choosing sides.” Tony spoke through gritted teeth as you arrived with Steve and Bucky at the HYDRA compound. “You said that you wanted no part of this! That man is the reason I lost my parents! Your grandparents.” The growls of your father shook you, but you stood your ground.
“You know it wasn’t him, Dad.” You stepped forward, much to Cap’s dismay. The last thing he wanted was for you to stand in between him and your father. “You can’t possibly blame him for what those people did to him.”
“I can! I can and I will and for you to stand on their side—it’s…it’s betrayal!” Tears were rolling down his cheeks and yours weren’t far behind. You felt a hand on your shoulder—Steve’s “And you, you pull my own kid into this?”
“You think I wanted this? Trust me, Tony, the last thing I want is to rip your family apart.” Steve tried to reason, but it was futile.
“‘Trust’ isn’t a word I’d be using with you, Cap. Not after this. And my family was already ripped apart when your buddy back there executed my mother and father—and you knew.” Tony was disheartened by the course taken in all of this. Seeing you—his own child—standing in front of Steve and Bucky in his suit of armor felt like a knife twisted in his gut. “Y/N, go outside.”
“No—” You retorted and were quickly cut off.
“Now!” He screamed. “…Please.” A weaker, defeated tone followed.
“It’s for the best, y/n.” Steve whispered from behind you. “Thank you for everything you’ve done. It means the world to me—to us.”

Six & T ; Just Another Thursday
pairing: Bucky Barnes x child reader (platonic)
word count: 3.7K
content warnings: hurt/comfort, canon violence, cursing, fighting, physical illnesses, referring to Bucky as “robot” and “six”, friendly banter, overprotective Bucky, medical inaccuracies, reader is kinda British, no use of y/n, little sprinkle of angst, Captain America Brave New World Spoilers!
synopsis: (Basically the Grey Man but it’s Bucky Barnes because I love him and mourning the loss of Sebastian not getting an oscar.) Bucky, needing a break from work, agrees to a security detail for an Uncle from Sam and Sarah’s family. He assumes it will be pretty easy and a good break from the work he doesn’t want to do but actually ends up enjoying the job. What happens when he has to actually protect you?
Bucky Barnes was used to the murmurs and uncomfortable glares he got from the congress members, the government never fully trusted him despite allowing him to run as a congress member. It wasn't until he was actually voted into office that he was aware why, they were using him. Holding his pardon from his crimes as the winter soldier over his head, despite the fact that Steve had already fought for his charges to have been dropped completely because he wasn’t aware of what he was doing at all. Sam never agreed with the way that the government was carrying it out but with the current president being in jail and he being at the root of the problem the both of them just had to fall in line for a little bit so they didn’t end up in the same cell as him. It was uncomfortable and irritating, the reminder of his nightmares being held over his head everyday and brought up at every mistake or small hint of aggression.
He needed a break, a vacation, just a minute of time to himself so that he would be able to breathe and Sam’s Sister offered him something light. He always had a soft spot for her, he was a nice younger woman, never looked at him weirdly or brought up his past and gave a small smile every time she saw him despite being so stern with her own kids. An uncle of hers and Sam’s needed a new security detail for his niece, a very simple task, she couldn’t have been a day over thirteen and the most supervision that was needed was to ensure that she didn’t eat ice cream for dinner. Besides, it was in a different country, and he would have to stay in the estate which was pretty huge, so it seemed like a win-win, however Bucky didn’t like kids. He didn’t trust himself around them, despite being sure that he wasn’t under Hydra’s control anymore, kids just weren’t his forte. However he still agreed, it was a simple protection case, a few months of protecting a child shouldn’t be so hard right? And it was a friend of his, he couldn’t have just said no, had it been anyone else he might have but this was Sam.
“Now I’m going to be gone for a little bit. A new case came up, it will be a few months. Can you handle yourself?” Your uncle wasn’t an idiot, you were young but he taught you how to handle yourself at least a little bit. His line of work was dangerous and the people he worked for and against could snap at any moment so he wanted to make sure that you could at least put up a fight and leave a trace if anything were to happen to you. “I’ll be fine. You hired me a babysitter with a metal arm. I don't know how anything could go wrong.” You responded, thick sarcasm running through the sentence as you looked up from your bowl of ice cream, spoon now digging aimlessly into the dessert. Bucky stood in the background, hovering like a creep, his hair long and stubble grown out enough to where he should be late forties, however his body barely looked late thirties. With a kiss to the crown of your head, he gave Bucky the rundown. You weren't really allowed to use technology, safety reasons and what not so that you couldn’t be tracked. However, occasionally there would be a few hours where you would be allowed to use the tablet or computer but mainly that was it.
The first night after your uncle left was awkward, he stood in the corner of the rather huge dining room while you ate. Every now and then you would glance up from the computer in front of you, absentmindedly playing a random show you had turned on, wasn’t necessarily interesting but it was good background noise and was enough to keep you entertained until you had to sleep. “Are you just gonna stand there the whole time? In silence? Like some shadow or something?” A noodle from your meal hanging from the fork that lay just before your mouth, Bucky glanced over but didn’t answer. You got through a few more bites before speaking up again. “What’s your name, shadow?” “Six.” He answered shortly, now taking a few steps towards the table but still just standing before you. He wasn’t sure why he chose that name, it’s not like he was in danger if he told you his real name and yet he just came out. (What an odd name) You looked at him weirdly before going back to your meal, what could someone even say to that? His eyes glanced down at the watch on his wrist before looking back up at you, his facial features were always hardened, he never truly looked relaxed or calm. It didn’t freak you out, it was just a little freaky. “You should start to get ready for bed. It’s almost eleven.” How irritating, was he going to be like this the entire time?
All you were going to do was lay down, not even go to bed. With a sigh you looked back up at him, finishing up your meal and swallowing before asking your question. “Can I play a record before I go to sleep?” He looked at you and for once it finally looked like he had relaxed. “Go on T don’t make it long.” Your head turned at the nickname, he knew your name so there was no reason for him to call you “T”. “T?” “Where did that come from?” He chuckled, for once in the twenty four hours you had met him, he smiled and laughed , you were sure you were never seeing that again. “It’s short for Three. It took you only three hours to annoy me.” Your face turned at the reasoning, your nickname, his tone was obviously sarcastic however you still rolled your eyes in response to it. “I think you just really like numbers as names, Six.” He made a small “mhm” noise while his eyes nodded towards your room, with another eye roll you got up, heading to your room to pull a vinyl out of its sleeve and place the record onto your player as you turned it up to medium volume. A minute into the song, Bucky knocked on your door, telling you to turn it down. This guy sucks.
A month later he finds you laying upon his jacket, while outside, lounging in a chair by the pool. “Excuse me” He states moments later before turning back around. “Looking for your jacket? Looks like I sat on it.” A mischievous grin playing on your face as you stared him down. His eyes immediately find it beneath you and he groans, hand twitching behind him to just pick you up and grab it and then he notices the phone in your hand, something you weren’t allowed to have. “Is that a secure phone?” You feign ignorance, staring at the screen a moment before turning to show him, making it aware that you weren't paying attention. “Just got the high score. I had a lot of time to practice after the operation.” You had an operation on your heart a few months ago, just something to ensure that you were ok and that the medicine you were taking was still working and wasn’t killing you. “They made me stay in bed.” You spoke with a hint of annoyance, there was never really anything to do after operations. Bucky stayed quiet which only irritated you, it was his nature but you at least wished that he would keep a conversation going. “How long did they make you stay in bed for?” You fake his tone and rather heavy American accent for the question before responding to yourself. “Quite a long time. Several weeks, actually.” “Oh, I hope you’re ok.” “Better now Six, thanks for asking.” Keeping the fake conversation going. “How’s your time been here? Enjoying the grounds?” “Oh, they’re lovely. I like to walk in circles and stare at my shoes.”
He ignored everything you said, still looking at his jacket. “Can I get my jacket?” Begrudgingly, you hand it over, not before mentioning his arm- not the metal one. The tattoo on his wrist, “Taking All The Stupid With You”. “Nice tattoo, where’d you get it? Prison?” “Yeah, actually.” A fake gasp escaped your mouth, hands covering your lips before you slumped back in your chair. “I’m shocked.” He began to walk away, this man truly was terrible at conversations, with a groan you once again realized you were going to be the only thing keeping this very small conversation going. “What’s it mean, the writing?” He shrugged. “Oh it’s, you know. A quip between guys.” “What guy?” At this point you had pulled off of the edge of the chair, this was the most you two had talked in the month he had been here. “Just a guy in my life, trying to keep our friendship together.” “Why?” “I don’t know, because he liked me?” “He liked you? Did he need friends?” You didn’t know much of anything about “Six” or “Bucky” so anything you could get out of him was good even if it was a weird conversation about him becoming friends with a guy and then getting his words tattooed. “Yes and no, we just clicked, we were good friends and worked well together. I think.” “Was he a good friend?” “Probably.” “Were you a good friend?” “Probably not.” “So why were you friends?” “You ask a lot of questions.” Your arms crossed as you smiled at him, he was still entertaining you and he was surprisingly good company. “You’re quite the conversationalist.” You threw back sarcastically, hoping he would catch it in your voice and very obvious expression. “I’m gonna get back to work.” And just like that he tried to leave again, did he hate you or something? You couldn’t figure out what was dragging him down to the point where he ignored you at any given moment except the ones where he was forced to be in your presence. “Hey.” You called out to him, hoping he would turn, and as the second surprise of the afternoon, he actually did. “Did you ever see your friend again?” He laughed, it was more like a hearty chuckle that was short lived but it was something. With his posture fixed once more he turned his back to you as he answered. “I’ll let you know.”
Four months after that, he had become more comfortable around you. Enough to actually make jokes with you and enough for you to call him by just “Six”, granted he was going to be called that regardless because you didn’t actually know his name. He was doing a routine check, flashing his light outside to see if anyone was there and checking the cameras. You were finishing getting ready for bed, pajamas on and teeth brushed, however as you reached for your vinyl your body felt heavy. Your limbs began to hurt and a pain in your chest was growing by the second, air became a luxury, as if it was flying out of your lungs every time you tried to breathe it in. Something was wrong. Using the wall as a crutch, you did your best to get out of your room, just barely making it to the hallway before you saw him. “Mr. Six-” voiced strained as you gasped for air that kept fleeting you. “Something’s wrong.” The last thing you were able to get out before your body hit the floor and your eyes started to close, Bucky ran over to you at a speed you were unaware he had, barely seconds after you had hit the floor he was holding you in his arms, cradling you into his chest. Bits and pieces were all you remember, him placing you in the car and the movement of the car being well past the speed limit of the area, you knew where you were headed– your uncle’s private hospital that he paid to be built close to the house in case something like this were to happen. The caretaker you had was great but she was only equipped for so many things and this was not one of them. Gasping for air as he carried you into the hospital, the chill of the area being combated by the pajamas you still wore, body shaking from both the chill and over exertion of trying to keep you alive. He’d given you a hoodie to help with the shaking but it was taken off a little while after by a doctor, your hand helplessly reaching out for it before passing out.
It was a terrifying two hours of silence but when you woke you were hooked up to pretty much every tube known to man while Bucky stood outside of your hospital window. He looked as stoic as whenever you had met him but the glint in his eye was different, he was truly worried about you. It was funny and also nice to see the “robot” with actual feelings, a nurse came in a moment later, stealing your attention from off of the window. You looked terrible, a heart monitor attached to what felt like every part of your body under the hospital gown, the chill from the materials not making the temperature any better. The thin blanket barely doing anything, your hands laying in your lamp after restlessly trying to pull the thin sheet over your body only to be left with more anguish than warmth. The nurse turned up your morphine dosage at the sign of your body still shaking and sick appearance, despite it being just a small tremor she wanted to be sure. “Can he come in with me? I’m. . . I’m scared.” The nurse sighed, pulling up the covers from your bed to layer them over your arms and went back to checking your vitals. “Not yet, I’m sorry sweetheart. However perhaps in the next thirty minutes he can be here. You’ll be home soon. I promise.” Afterwards, she left to discuss what was going on with Bucky. “Tell him there was a programming glitch, we were able to repair it, non-invasive. Gave everyone a bit of a scare but it’s alright.” His eyes finally left your sickly body to look at the woman talking to him. “So this won’t happen again?” She shook her head with a proud smile. “It shouldn’t.” His eye twitched of pure annoyance but it wasn’t entirely her fault. “It shouldn’t or it won’t?” “It won’t.” With that he finally glanced back at you, this time your eyes actually meeting as you gave him a peace sign, a pained but goofy expression gracing your face. He simply nodded, not saying anything to the action, not even a smile or a laugh.
You two had finally gotten into a rhythm, once again at the table during dinner; however he had gotten more comfortable to the point where he could finally sit next to you, sometimes watching what you were watching or doing a crossword puzzle. An “old person activity” as you called it but he didn’t answer anytime you called it that, just rolling his eyes and continuing. “You feeling better?” He asked, a nod towards your incident just a few hours ago. “Just another Thursday.” You spoke dryly, digging another spoonful into your ice cream. “Uncle says this is the best medicine-” You motioned towards your ice cream, it basically melted at this point. “Tend to agree.” Once more, taking a bite and finishing your bowl of ice cream. “He's a very smart man.” “Only family I got.” “Closest thing to family I got too.” You smiled, turning your head in his direction. He didn’t seem like a friend person but you didn’t expect him to also not be a family person. Sam mentioned him a few times but you thought it was along the lines of taking him in like a stray dog, not another family member but more the merrier. “Maybe that kind of makes us family.” He smiled but said nothing, he was so annoying when he did that. With a yawn you started to turn back to your ice cream before he spoke. “You should go to bed.” It was odd of him to actually remind you of your bed time at this point so you looked at him weirdly, what you didn’t know is that every single camera overlooking the estate had just gone offline, which was a problem. The estate was huge and the land that surrounded it was even larger, so he knew that he needed the cameras and if they were offline then that means that someone else turned them off because he knew for a fact that he didn’t. Your head nodded towards him staring at his computer screen, you could see him looking at something through his eyeballs but he didn’t say anything about it and you thought maybe it was the reason behind his weird outburst about your bedtime.
You didn’t get a time to respond as the caretaker hovered over you, basically forcing you to get up even without touching you. “Alright little one, you heard the number. Let’s go.” You giggled, it was still so weird hearing someone refer to themselves as a number. “Night Robot.” You called out before turning to walk away from him. “Goodnight T. You can play another record tonight. Turn it all the way up.” Excitement filled your body immediately, now walking just a bit faster to your room than before to find a record to play., he never let you do that, it was always supposed to be played super low. Sometimes he would let it get a pinch higher but never would he let you turn it all the way up. Your hand pulled out “Silver Bird”, a song from the 70’s, if you were being honest that was all your taste consisted of. Your uncle was old and never really bought new vinyls unless he really liked the artist which was rare, you knew of some popular artist because of social media ; Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodgrio, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and even rap artists like Doechii or Kendrick Lamar but you had never truly listened to anything by any of these people because you couldn’t. Your tablet could only play movies and shows or games where all the ads were non-existent so the only music you had was whatever was in your Uncle’s collection from a little while ago but you enjoyed it.
You placed the record onto the player and immediately turned it all the way up, turning towards the bathroom in your room. Bucky came to your door, once again doing his routine knock but this time he didn’t tell you to turn the music down, he just made sure your door was closed, all the way. Sometimes you tended to leave it cracked just so that Bucky could hear it a little bit because you knew he liked the music even whenever he tried to pretend like he didn’t. Barely a moment after Bucky had closed your door, the men had broken in, glass shattering from one of the windows towards the front of the house but you were none the wiser because of how loud your music was playing. Bucky was completely silent in his actions, every take down was with such precision and accuracy that every man didn’t even get a chance to fire their gun, the thing that caught your attention was the sound of grunting and the movement of his flashlight going haywire in the window. He should have just been checking the hallways but from the view it looked like he was waving it everywhere and doing god knows what else.
Tiptoeing towards your door you pulled it open to see the sight of a man falling to the floor after being hit by Bucky. “Six?” Your voice shaky as you looked at him, he stared at your wide eyes from the hallway, giving you a light nod as if he was asking if you were ok. “Are you ok?” Your hand was still shakily holding the door knob, ensuring that everything was ok, in response he actually smiled again, you hadn’t seen him do that since the day you met. “Yeah, broke a bowl.” He held up what looked to be a piece of something but it was so far away that you couldn’t see exactly what it was. Your eyes moved down to the pair of legs sticking out from the wall, unmoving, was it a person? Were they dead? Was that what he was doing? You didn’t get a chance to question it before he stepped in front of the body, covering it with his own. You finally looked back up at him, eyes wide. “You sure you’re alright?” He nodded. “Just another Thursday.” You nod but don’t move yet, body still frozen in shock. “You should go to bed. Goodnight T.” “Goodnight Six.” Finally you turned away from him, heading down the hallway to your room, terror being the only thing that kept you from looking back before you eventually reached your door. Turning back to look at Six as he shut it, his posture still as stiff as the day you met except this time.. he smiled.
