Your metabolism will speed up, and fatigue will be reduced. It will be a very quick process, so that means it will also hurt a lot.”

Steve looked at him with bleary eyes. “I understand until ‘I’m afraid so’. Then I only heard some rather difficult terms and finally again that it will ‘hurt a lot’.”

“Jean almost died.” Raven gulped.

"Also Charles.” Erik shook his head. “When he jumped into the ocean for me, when he took a bullet in the back because of me, when Nur tried to possess him while he was saving me from myself…” Erik glanced at the girl. “Charles always takes risks for his students. For his children.”

Charles, Raven and Erik post-Apocalypse end in First Class time and meet their past selves.

Her eyes widened, as she looked at her brother.

He changed, they both did. His hair were longer (his hair were dirtier), his eyes were always blue (he had dirty bags under them, as if he didn’t sleep since a long time), he was smiling (his features weren’t the same anymore, the time has passed for all of them, not kind with any of them).

“We’ve come for you, Erik and I.” Charles told her, kind and gentle, always kind and gentle. “Together.”

Sunset light on us

The search for mutants wasn’t going badly.

Some were interested, some hesitant, but anyway, Charles just loved the feeling.

Finding them, talking to them, touching the surface of their minds…

Singing in the rain

Erik, confused and fascinated at the same time, shook his head, saying. "Really, Charles? After all this, you sing a song about singing in the rain? When it’s raining?".

Charles didn't respond right away, but instead continued to hum quietly, until he approached Erik.

When Moira started shooting at him, Erik wasn’t even surprised.

He wanted to scream at Charles that that was what humans did: they turned against the different, the special, the better, they fought against improvement because they knew they would be left behind, fought, defeated, forgotten.

The next morning, the day of their mission in Cuba, Charles found a metal king outside his door.

We want the same thing

“NO!” Charles screamed, and for the first time in his life, he didn’t need to focus his power.

There was a simple choice: let Erik die or be enough to save him.

And Charles wasn’t going to lose Erik—not to a bullet.

For old times' sake

“Thanks, Erik.” Charles said, at the end of the old-time chess game. “It was fun.”

Erik smiled, putting the pieces away. “And you cheated only a couple times.”

“You can’t cheat at chess, Erik.” Charles shook his head, amused. “I thought you, of all people, would know that.”

"I can do whatever I want with what I've won." Erik smiled, tilting his head and pushing the offered chocolate forward, trying to tempt Charles with that offer. "And believe me, watching you eat this chocolate is the only thing I want to do with my prize."

When you call my name it's like a little prayer

“I dedicate this to my unrequited love.” Charles smiled sheepishly. “And that’s such a cliché, isn’t it?”

Julie giggled. “Okay, lover boy! Show us what you wrote for your love.”

A hope of peace

He and Erik had that bond, Charles wasn't the only one who felt it, he was sure of it.

So, he had noticed the coin Erik sometimes played with, when he was lost in thought and his gaze would rest violently and intently on a wall, as if he were imagining something different, or someone different, right there in front of him.

I will always protect you

“Thank you.” Erik murmured into Charles’s hair as the two of them climbed into the jet that Erik had easily repaired with a wave of his hand.

“You don’t have to thank me, Erik.” Charles smiled. “There was no choice to make.”

The perfect blend

The only thing Charles couldn’t bear not to have was his cup of well-brewed English tea, not the American swill they tried to pass off as real English tea.

“Are you done insulting the American state and its soulless employees?” Erik gave him a bored look from the wheel of the car, having learned the hard way not to let Charles drive the car.

Oh, this is a surprise

Erik couldn't be said to be unoriginal in his affections.

He could have said it so many times, during their road trip to find the mutants, during one of their chess games, or maybe while Moira was doing one of her dives demanding Charles' attention as if she had some right to that.

Instead, Erik had decided to use his actions.
