I love how the billy fans get pinned as the fandom racists for *checks notes* liking a fictional character, but when the rest of the fandom partakes in actual racist ideologies and rhetoric and behavior towards actors on the show and fellow fans (namely billy fans of color) … suddenly racism doesn’t exist, they’ve never heard of her. Convenient how it only comes up for people you specifically don’t like.
And because y’all are the majority everyone just accepts it as truth and fact. But we don’t have time to unpack all that!

On the cesspool that is Twitter, I saw the “leak” that Will will have a live interest next season, and that the love interest is a bit (duh). I then saw several accounts (to be fair, not necessarily fandom accounts) post that they will stop watching Stranger Things if it goes “woke”.
MY BROTHER IN CHRIST IN SEASON 1 EPISODE 1 OF STRANGER THINGS, RELEASED IN 2016, JOYCE BYERS TELLS CHIEF JIM HOPPER “MY YOUNGEST SON IS A RAGING HOMOSEXUAL” (paraphrased) IF YOU WERE EXPECTING ANYTHING DIFFERENT THAT’S A SKILL ISSUE

i wish creative decisions for pieces of media weren't so heavily influenced by soulless numbers and moreover fucked up engagements on social platform cesspool sites like xitter and tiktok and insta.
i wish they would come here to tumblr, bc this is where fandom lives and thrives. tumblr is the lifeblood of media - from gifs (free creative advertising) to meta (passionate and thoughtful critique and commentary) to shitposts (the full breadth of human emotion in response to their stories on display) to fanart and fanvids (talent meets muse, they should be humbled) to fanfiction (extending and reimagining and celebrating the characters we can't get enough of is their legacy) - this is where they can see the fruits of their labor be enjoyed and so beloved, even long after a series comes to a close - or, more commonly, after a series shoots itself in the foot and we get to work fixing things.
fandom is also found family - the foundation of so many beloved pieces of media, and to see how a fictional thing can create a community from strangers is a wondrous and beautiful things.

Hi ! I’m working on a video, what’s something you think ppl should know b4 getting into the stranger things fandom?
Stranger Things attracts both some of the best and some of the worst people to the fandom. One can find all sorts of interesting content from fan art to analyses to fiction. One can also find so much vile vitriol that it can make being a part of the fandom painful at times.
Maybe that's how all fandoms are. I don't know. This is the first one I ever really became an active part of.
I'd suggest staying away from Twitter, since it's a cesspool. I'd also suggest staying away from Reddit, only because its entire model leads to it being an echo chamber where anything that goes against the grain is downvoted and/or reported until it gets autodeleted.

The Coffee Trials
Chapter 2: a different brand of strange
Fandom: Maribat (Miraculous Ladybug x DC)
Tags: Tim Drake/Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Original Character, fluff & Shenanigans, no plot & no update schedule
Work Summary: Both Tim Drake and Marinette Dupain-Cheng are incredibly successful and busy people. Two people who both view coffee as their lifeblood. When they find themselves needing each other to obtain ultimate coffee rights at their favorite cafe, two total strangers become allies. And friends. And perhaps eventually… something more.
Chapter Summary: Marinette finds that her normal day goes 0 to 100 (more of a 70, really) very fast. She certainly didn’t expect this to be the outcome of visiting her new favorite cafe…
Links: ao3 work, ao3 chapter, First Chapter, Previous Chapter, Next Chapter
Read below the Keep Reading!
Marinette was having the very rare kind of day one would consider “normal”. Or, as normal as a former child soldier/superheroine and the current Guardian of the Chinese zodiac’s Muraculi could have whilst living in the cesspool that is Gotham.
It was simultaneously relaxing and unnerving.
She’d had a tremendously productive day. It started with her actually getting up and out of bed at a respectable time, followed by a virtual meeting with Jagged and Penny to discuss his latest commissions.
For the past several hours she’d been answering emails and sketching some basic concepts to pitch to Jagged. It wasn’t until very late into the evening that she realized she had, one, not eaten yet, and two, not had coffee yet.
In fact if not for Tikki gently reminding her that despite the fever dream that was her life she was still human and needed to eat, she wouldn’t have realized at all.
Blinking at the clock that hung above the desk in her office, she realized it was already past eight at night and frowned. “When-” Marinette started.
The tiny floating red deity just giggled. “You were in your work trance silly,” Tikki said, patting her chosen on the head. “You really should eat something though.”
Marinette stretches in her chair and nods. “Food does sound good,” she mumbles, closing her eyes. “Oh!-” she exclaims, eyes flying open. “Why don’t we go to the cafe?”
Tikki moves so she’s floating in front of her chosen, her big dark blue eyes sparkle as the kwami smiles. “You just want to go because Skye will let you have the reaaalllyy caffeinated drinks now.”
Smiling sheepishly, Marinette replies, “Maybe. But you can’t deny they have a good chicken wrap!”
Tikki simply fondly shakes her head as Marinette gets out of her chair and grabs her phone.
“Tikki, can you let the other kwamis know we’re heading out while I grab my stuff? I think most of them are in the kitchen and living room.”
As Tikki zips across the room and towards the kitchen, Marinette hears the kwami reply, “Sure thing Mari!” before phasing through the wall.
It’s not long before Marinette enters Carrie’s Cafe and Bistro. She was immediately greeted by the smell of coffee and a warm welcome from Skye, who was currently working the register.
“Hey Mari, welcome back! What can I get for ya?” Skye asks, a smile accompanying their cheerful demeanor.
While the friendliness wasn’t out of place for Skye, they had an unusual excitement about them. Something about the way they were smiling was almost ‘Chat Noir right before he starts some shenanigans’ in nature.
Marinette shook off the thought, however. She smiled back at Skye, answering, “I’ll take a chicken wrap, a chocolate chip cookie, and a chocolate eclair, please. And um, the most caffeinated Skye Special you have if you don’t mind.”
Skye’s smile gains a tone of playful malice as they push the card reader closer to Marinette.
“Why of course I wouldn’t mind. I’ll ignore the fact you didn’t say the ™ in Skye Special™, but only cause you’re new to this whole system here,” Skye teases.
As Marinette inserts her card into the card reader and enters her pin, Skye continues.
“Though I’m glad you remembered the whole ‘must order at least one item from the menu’ part of the deal. Can’t just be giving away free coffee, Carrie would kill me. And it’s not like I can charge you for it either, y’know?”
Skye hands Marinette the receipt, and soon the fashion designer once again finds herself thrown into a work frenzy on one of the cafe’s sofas. Something about the place just seemed to calm her down and clear her head.
Or maybe it was the fact she had finally eaten and was sipping a truckload of caffeine. But who’s to say?
Not long into her visit to the cafe, she hears the front door open and Skye greeting a customer. A quick glance away from her sketchbook and laptop reveal a very tired-looking man in his early to mid-twenties.
His hair was black and slightly wavy, and despite the fact he was wearing sweats and a crewneck Marinette could still tell he had an impressive build. Not that she was looking. * ahem *
However, it was only a few moments later that Marinette found herself looking up at the very person she had been staring at just a few moments ago.
He simply stood there, and with how severe his eyebags are (seriously, they’re bad enough to rival her own) Marinette was half convinced he’d fallen asleep standing up with his eyes open.
She simply waited for the stranger to say something since he was the one to walk up to her , but before she could ask if he needed anything, he said, “Um, hey, sorry to disturb you but there’s something I kind of need to talk to you about. Mind if I sit?”
Marinette blinks up at him, and it takes a few seconds for his request to process. She gives a nervous glance towards Skye, who’s still hanging out behind the register, and receives a smile and thumbs up from the barista.
She hesitantly answers, “Uhh, sure,” throwing Skye another sideways glance while the stranger sits down.
“So-“ he begins. “Skye told me you passed The Coffee Trials. Which is great, congrats! But um, not sure if you’re aware of this, Skye only serves one Skye Special™ per shift. And-“
The stranger pauses again to stare down at Marinette’s drink, which was sitting on the coffee table in front of them.
“You kinda stole my drink.”
All Marinette can think to say back is, “Who are you?”
She watches as the stranger goes through visible phases of shock, confusion, and finally, acceptance.
“Oh. Oops. Well hi, my name’s Tim, it’s nice to meet you,” he says, awkwardly offering a handshake which Marinette slowly accepts.
At the sound of a muffled groan, the two turn their heads just in time to catch Skye facepalming and shaking her head.
Skye simply tells them, “Ignore me. And also Tim’s awkwardness.”
“Ok then. Hi, I’m Marinette. What’s this about stealing your drink?” she asks, quirking an eyebrow.
Tim runs a hand through his hair and collapses against the couch. “Skye’s given me, well both of us, I guess, a bit of a choice. I’m guessing from my experience with her, she’s either going to have things stay the same, or have us follow through on her little plan.
They’re an impossible person to bribe or bargain with, and once they've got an idea for shenanigans in their head, hell would sooner freeze over than if they don't enact those plans.”
Narrowing her eyes, Marinette snatches her coffee off the table and takes a sip. “Does this ultimatum, because that's what this sounds like, an ultimatum, have the power to revoke my coffee privileges?”
Grimacing, Tim nods. “Short answer, yes. Since only one Skye Special™ is allowed per shift, it’s first come first serve between the two of us. And I guess Carrie, but she doesn’t usually stop by during Skye’s shift so she’s a bit of an outlier.”
“Wait-“ Marinette starts. “So what’s the other option? Skye is either going to keep it how it is, or…?
Rubbing at the back of his neck with one hand and nervously tugging at the collar of his crew neck with the other, Tim’s eyes darted towards Skye.
“About that. I actually have no clue. She basically sent me over here so I could drag you back to the register. They said they would only tell me their ‘proposition’ if both of us came over to her.”
Marinette sighed. She knew something was up with Skye today. Looking back over to Tim she asks with a deadpan expression, “How much do you wanna bet she has a dramatic speech planned?”
Tim smirks. “Five bucks says she’ll have visuals to really drive home the point.”
If it weren’t for the informality of the situation, Marinette would’ve found herself embarrassed by the snort she let out at Tim’s statement.
Closing her laptop and stuffing it along with her sketchbook into her bag, Marinette stands. “Let’s go see if you win that five bucks.”
As they approach, Skye’s smile widens. “Ah, I knew you were capable of simple tasks, Timmy my boy. Not that there was ever any doubt.”
Tim scoffs and playfully shoves the barista, causing her to let out an incredulous ‘Hey!’
Once the two settle in front of Skye, the latter breaks into a smirk. “So, assuming this doofus-“ Skye says, jerking their thumb at Tim, “Has filled you in, Nettie, who’d like to hear my oh so generous, proposition, shall we say?”
With Marinette’s insistence to go on and Tim’s nod, Skye situates herself so she’s once again sitting on the counter, legs swung over the side.
“I’m cutting you both off.” The sentence is short, said without a hint of hesitation, and Skye tells them with such conviction the decision seems ironclad.
It’s so devastatingly inconceivable the five words make both Marinette and Tim’s hearts drop to their stomachs and disintegrate in the acid there.
The two stand there dumbfounded for a few seconds, processing. It’s only broken when Tim’s hands, previously shaking, fly to his hair raking through it while a strangled gargle claws its way out of his throat. It’s soon followed by the small pitiful whimpers falling from Marinette’s lips. His hysterical and frantic cry of, “WHAT?!” overlaps with Marinette’s desperate pleas.
“Don’t worry,” Skye assures, holding up her hands in a placating manner. “I’m not fully cutting you off.”
With that piece of information, both their shoulders sag in relief, and their eyes lose the panicked wild looks they were holding.
“Oh thank fuck !” Tim exclaims. “Don’t fucking scare me like that Skye.”
Marinette, who shares similar sentiments, add, “You little shit. There is a very small amount of topics you do not make jokes like that about with me. Coffee is very high on that list.”
Skye just smiles cheekily. “Sorry, I couldn't help it. Playing devil’s advocate is the epitome of devious chaos.”
“Also, maybe not be the best way to phrase it, but the statement was still true. I am cutting you off. From Skye Specials™ only though. From now on, unless you can accomplish the task I will see before you two, you’re banned from Skye Specials™.”
Tim's jaw hangs open, and Marinette’s brows are furrowed, lips pursed.
“Why not just keep it as it is?” Marinette points out. “The limit can stay one Skye Special™ per shift, it will be on a first come first serve basis.”
Skey shakes their head. “And where,” they say, looking Marinette in the eyes before letting their stare move to Tim’s, “is the fun in that?”
Whipping out their phone, Skye clicks a few things before turning it so it faces them. It’s rotated so that it’s landscape, and Tim lets out an unbelieving bark of laughter at what he sees.
He barely makes out Marinette’s whispered, “Guess I owe you five bucks.”
“I have prepared a Google Slides,” Skye says proudly. “It’s very simple.” She points to the slide being displayed, presumably the title slide, and Marinette stares at the words ‘The Coffee Trials’. The subtext underneath the bigger centered title reads, ‘Trial #2: Creation’.
“As you can see, I’m implementing this as the second installment of The Coffee Trials. You will have to work together to, drumroll please…” Despite no one giving a drum roll, Skye still clicks on their phone to unveil the next slide with exuberant enthusiasm and a single jazz hand once the slide is revealed. “Make The Motherload yourselves!”
The next slide has only a picture of The Motherload and a textbox with three confetti emojis.
“Ignore the low-budget slides, I didn't have enough time to put into this. Anyways! Onto the rules-” With another tap on their phone screen, Skye reveals the next slide, which contains a numbered list.
“Rule one, you are given an indefinite amount of time to try and recreate The Motherload. Simple enough. Though you don’t have to have the exact measurements or method of making it, the ingredients all have to be the same, and it has to taste similar as well. I’ll give leeway on all other aspects, though.
Rule two, you are allowed to show me one attempt per week, and by per week, I mean Sunday through Saturday. You don’t have to wait seven days between each attempt.
Rule three, once per week, per week having the same meaning as rule two, you are allowed to ask for a hint. The hint given will always be an ingredient, and if a hint is asked for and can be given, but there are no more ingredients to confirm, you will each be given an espresso cup full of The Motherload to drink and appraise.
This is the one exception to the fact you are cut off from Skye Specials™, and you are only allowed to drink the sample, as well as look at it. Without any high-powered tech. No cheating by examining it beyond a simple look.
Rule four, not only must you adhere to all prior rules, but you may not ask for or receive outside help, and to enact the two previous rules, those being attempting to confirm your creation or gathering hints, it must be triggered by the both of you .
That’s right, I’ve saddled you with a group project.”
Marinette is lost for words. She looks over at Tim who seems similarly bewildered.
“That's basically it. Any questions?” Skye asks, face the embodiment of innocence.
Tim looks a bit shell-shocked, Marinette realizes. She quite agrees with the reaction, however.
“I don't have enough caffeine to be able to think about or deal with this right now. I don't have enough sleep to deal with this absurdity. And my whole life is dealing with absurdity.”
Tim’s nodding along with every word Marinette is saying, and oh isn't it great she’s not the only one thrown off by this.
“Well, I think the both of you should sleep and mull this over with well-rested heads. It’s quite a lot to spring onto someone this late, I guess.”
Tim numbly nods, and he and Marinette find themselves walking out of the cafe together, Tim holding the door open for her as they exit.
“Well that ,” Tim begins, “is a type of strange I didn't think I’d have to deal with today.”
Marinette giggles, smiling up at the man beside her. “A different brand of crazy from the usual,” she concedes. “Though it’s a nice change of pace from some of the regular crazy I’ve had to deal with.”
Smiling back down at her, Tim adds, “You’re not wrong.”
They stand there together, staring at each other, for a few seconds, before Tim clears his throat. “You know,” he says, cheeks suddenly the slightest bit pinker. “If you’d like, I can give you my number in case we end up actually going through with Skye’s nefarious plot.”
Surprised by her willingness and excitement, Marinette breathes out a, “Sure,” before handing over her phone.
It’s only after Marinette’s home and ready for bed that she contemplates just what had happened at the coffee shop. Or how it was unfairly hard to think of it without her mind circling back to Tim.
There are too many thoughts in her head to try and confront why looking at Tim’s contact made her smile.
He’d only put in his contact name; Tim, his number, and a short sentence in the notes. ‘u owe me $5.’

Hello everyone! I am coming back from my hiatus, with some notes, updates, etc etc.
On a personal level, since I know my hiatus was regarding declining mental health: Fun fact, it has not gotten better. But! We learn coping mechanisms and make the best out of the situation at hand.
Now onto the blog stuff:
I've updated the lists of fandoms I prefer avoiding / outright not interacting with. This has been due to varying controversies, general distate, and just... boundary setting.
The following fandoms I will allow interaction from if the blog is not primarily focused around the media:
Atomic Heart
Cuphead
Disney (Exception(s) Below)
Detroit: Become Human
The Mandela Catalogue
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)
Poppy's Playtime
RWBY
Steven Universe
The following fandoms I will allow zero interaction from, and you will be hard blocked if they are present anywhere on your blog(s):
13 Reasons Why
Hazbin Hotel / Helluva Boss
Rick and Morty
Stranger Things
Dream SMP / DSMP
The Handmaid's Tale
Harry Potter / Fantastic Beasts
MCYT (Minecraft YouTube) / Alternate SMPs
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Our Flag Means Death
Pirates of the Caribbean
Real Person Fiction (RPF)
South Park
Yandere Simulator
As for a reminder on how interactions will happen on this blog:
By default, I tend to turn reblogs off on posts due to experiences with people outside the roleplay sphere. The only exceptions are threads, since they require reblogs for interaction. That said, if you'd like to reblog an ask/interaction post directly, please reach out to me and I'll turn reblogs on for you !!
Post replies are limited (you must be following me for a week), and anon is also off due to repeated harassment by non-roleplayers. I am, frankly, tired of being called slurs for minor grievances because fandom spaces have amassed into a toxic cesspool, so I apologize if these restrictions get in the way of interaction.
Next, I'd like to request those following me fill out my interest tracker again. I know many of you have filled it out, especially recently, but I changed things around and have updated the form to allow for adjustments/resubmissions!
Of course, this requires email input, but that is not something I will be looking at or noting. I'm here to write, not be a creep.
Other than that, I'm going to clean up the dash a bit, remove a lot of OOC stuff, and then do some behind the scenes stuff (e.g., potentially reorganize the nav site) tomorrow.

i rarely use twitter anymore (except for nsfw purposes) and i'm so glad i don't because it's become a cesspool of the worst people sharing the worst opinions in an echo chamber of said terrible opinions. i saw a thread the other day about why this person thinks aj is non-binary and their "proof" and i was like what the fuck!! she is a real person!! why are we making headcanons about real people!!
when did people forget that celebrities are real people with real lives and are affected by the things people say? why are we treating celebrities as characters? when did we completely lose our sense of boundaries? celebrities are not your best friends and they don't know you exist!! and they're not sending you secret signals through their social media/music/outfits to tell you they're secretly gay/bi/lesbian/trans/whatever *glares at the taylor swift fandom*
like even if aj was non-binary or taylor swift is secretly bisexual/gay/whatever, it's none of our business! celebrities don't owe us anything and fandom stops being fun when you act like you're owed something because you're a fan and you want things to be a certain way
-🐙
I think the ubiquitousness of the internet has eroded our sense of what is appropriate to think about and do to other people. Like someone makes a tiktok, it blows up, a thousand strangers comment like they personally know the person, the person responds because they suddenly feel all this pressure, etc. Every video/comment/post/etc is now seen as a conversation starter, when really people aren't always seeking attention or interaction people outside their circle. That's just regular ass people, too.
Celebrities and big names know that they have reach and know that they're being speculated on and watched and that opinions come with the territory. It still probably doesn't feel great to see a bunch of strangers assume they know you on a personal level because you make a couple tweets and post about your life occasionally to stay relevant. Like, Paget is doing her own thing and she's thrown out comments about dating/sleeping with women, so like there's some room for gossip, but like not at her! Not tagging her! You don't know her like that! You don't know her at all!
AJ is private and only shares little things and mostly uses social media to promote appearances and projects. She doesn't seem to interact with people she doesn't know, and she probably isn't actively looking for that. To start speculating on her gender identity (a deeply personal thing) where she can see it is WILD. She's a whole ass human who is likable exactly as she is now. We don't need to be making up theories about potential queerness to what? Justify liking her? Make her more relatable? She's a rich white mom who lives in a big house in California where she also works as a Hollywood actress. She's not relatable lmao I do like her tho and I enjoy seeing pics of her and stuff, but like literally who cares if she's nb or queer?

Happy pride month to me because I just went down memory lane to relive the cringe and depressingly comical event from last pride where some chronically online nutto on Twitter harassed me and my mutuals with death threats and calls for castration (after they somehow mistook me for a amab gay man) all for not exactly matching their shipping/character views and committing the mortal sin of enjoying fandom past the age of 20 or starting a family and when I went to check I saw they got outed for being a groomer and creep who sexted minors not even a full month later.
Cackling
That whole “a guilty person will accuse you the loudest” quote really does ring true.
Imagine taking the time to scroll thru over a years worth of horny eminem thirst tweets just to try and desperately find something to cancel me with, coming up with only Rooks ugly braids, a anime wip, and a schlatt follow, so you just resort to homophobia DURING pride month and THEN you get cancelled instead for being a disgusting pedo yourself. Cant make that shit up

I'm a strong believer that (in fandoms) if you put your mind to it you can like almost anything.
One Tree Hill is a good example of what I mean. So many people are negative towards the later seasons. And I am a strong believer that people allow/want themselves to hate it.
One thing i've found with Stranger Things is after every season I completely shut myself off from the fandom and the negativity that comes with it. I watch the season at least 4 times to get my own opinions set in stone and then I just focus on the things I love about it. In fact, with S3... I remember watching and feeling a little negativity towards it. I stopped focusing on the things I didn't enjoy and instead kept thinking about the things I liked... and now I legit can't remember what I disliked about it. It's a perfect season as far as i'm concerned.
It's the same with One Tree Hill. If you think about the things you hate then pretty soon that's all your gonna think about. And there are plotlines I don't like in the later seasons. Like Nathan's injury early on or the Nanny Carrie plot early on or anything having to do with Mouth and Millie. But I don't focus on those things. When I think about the later seasons I think about Nathan and Haley, Brooke and Julian, Victoria, Sylvia, the absolute incredible acting on the part of Joy, the funny episodes, the fun plotlines. And now when I think of those seasons.... my heart is filled with happiness.
Each season is a different vibe. As the characters grow the vibe changes. And honestly OTH was always that way. S2 is not the same as S1. S1 was way more dramatic and soap opera-ish than S2. And S3 has a different vibe then S2. S4 is different as well... it's like a horror movie or murder mystery or thriller type of vibe. And then as they grow out of high school the vibe changes again. It's almost like each season is a new show. Which there's a certain enjoyment to that... it keeps it from getting stale. But people confuse different with bad. Stranger Things is the same way. Each season is different because the scope gets bigger and also each season is an homage to different 80s movie. Just take each season for what it is and enjoy it. Believe me, it's much more fun to enjoy something vs having all that negativity in your heart and passing it on to other people.
And i'm not saying that you have to like every show or every plotline within a show. I'm mostly talking about people who are in a fandom already and then allow their overall opinion of the show to change or their opinion of later or earlier seasons to be extra negative. Also fine, have your own opinions but don't act like your opinions are definitive or objectively correct. Like just cause you don't like a plot or a season or whatever doesn't mean it's bad. I just wanted to let ya'll know this trick cause I really believe that it can change the way you view the shows you love.
In general I feel like fandoms have become cesspools where people just constantly talk about what they hate. There may be situations where you may want to speak up... like if a character is problematic or a plot is really fucked up. And in that case, I say speak your truth. But I feel like fandoms used to be a group of like minded people getting together and talking about how they love something. Maybe I have a rosy colored view of what fandoms used to be but I do know that the Stranger Things fandom used to be so positive and filled with funny people making funny memes and now it's a cesspool.

I had a real period of time this week when I really questioned if I enjoy BTS' music or I'm just in love with the idea of belonging to the community and fandom you know? And today on the way home from my dance class I cried while listening to Seesaw because that song is just so beautiful and I genuinely love all of their music (even songs like Best of me that I'm not particularly very fond of, I can still jam to it). The way Adora's vocals ties everything together is just so magical and I love them for that, for giving me this refuge, God knows I need it with this hell of a week💕
What is the song that makes you go "wow, I love their music so much!"?
i hear you! i've personally always been careful to take steps to maintain my enjoyment of the thing i like--while being in a fandom is supposed to be fun, literally every fandom starts getting caught up in nonsense and becoming toxic and exhausting. and the whole point of enjoying the thing you like is...having fun and enjoying the thing you like! lol. so throughout the years of me being in many fandoms, i've always kind of interacted from the outskirts by creating my own little bubble and enjoying myself there, instead of diving into the toxic cesspool. if people want to join me in my little corner of the internet, that's great, but if it's just me having a blast by myself, that's cool too! 🙌🏾 if fandom culture is really starting to get you down to that extent, i highly suggest you take a step back and focus more on what drew you to bts in the first place than all the noise of strangers on the internet.
but yes, seesaw is a great song, and i'm happy it's helping to remind you 💜 (and i completely agree with best of me. it's the only song in their discography that i say i hate lmao. even though the choreo is 🔥 and i ended up buying it 4 times by default 🤣)
i would say for me, their earlier stuff that was more hip hop/r&b rooted really speaks to me. let me know is my song, and i will belt it out with my whole chest if it comes on while i'm in the car 😂😂 also really love tomorrow!

Could you talk more about how Twitter people have watered down the word pro ship? (Also I got the impression that non-fandom writers were talking about this on twt as well, is that true?) I’m afraid of fandom Twitter it seems like a mess.
--
Twitter is a mess full stop, but fandom is even worse, yeah. IDK which nonfandom people are talking about this, but it wouldn't surprise me. The cesspool that is YA twitter and writing twitter in general are susceptible to fandom bullshit.
Basically, a lot of the loudest voices from tumblr have gone to twitter (regardless of pro/anti/etc.). There's a clique of well known people there who use the term 'proshipper' for themselves. They've engaged in frivolous callouts and bullying just like antis do. They clearly do think thoughtcrimes are real, just a slightly different set of thoughtcrimes than antis believe in.
A lot of the drama tends to be over things like that rando thirsting over Stranger Things characters. Is it uncomfortable because they're so young? Absolutely. But as usual in these situations, these morons found some rando barely anyone was reading the tweets of and broadcast that shit everywhere, greatly increasing the chances that people would see it. That time, they failed to distinguish between RPF and non RPF at all, which is another common anti tactic.
Basically, "proship" tends to be defined as "not antis", and it's full of people who feel personally victimized by antis without it teaching them any lessons at all. What twitter proship isn't is anti-censorship.
I hold the views I do because they're part of a coherent and consistent platform on censorship and its effects. I don't believe thoughtcrimes are real full stop.

Goodbye
Hey everyone- this is my official goodbye for tumblr. This site has made such a huge impact on my views and life. I applaud tumblr for letting me explore not only myself but the (mostly) wonderful people on it. It was thru this site I realized I was bi. I made tumblr friends and got to explore my writing. Some of my favorite shows I started because of stuff I saw here.
However, as much as this site holds a place in my heart- I’ve outgrown it. I came on to the site at 15 on the day of Mishapocolyse (yeah that was my first impression). I’m in my 20s now and have a house and a dog and this just doesn’t have a place in my life anymore.
And, I have to say it, tumblr has a at times been a toxic place. I remember in my first months of tumblr, literally not knowing anything, I accidentally reposted art without credit. I was flooded with hate comments, telling me what a shitty person I was. I deleted it and reached out to the original creator and apologized. While the creator was nice enough, it did show me the first ugly side of tumblr.
A few years later I did a cute little thing where if you reblogged a post I made, I would give you a good message or something. Most messages I got were so wholesome, but there were others telling me how irresponsible and bad of me it was to do this because I would never get to everybody. I was trying to do a nice thing and it still wasn’t enough and was turn into something bad. (And I did get to everyone so fuck you).
I also made a supernatural video (ah yes my first hard core fandom RIP) and tagged it with some characters it didn’t focus on. The amount of hate I got was horrible. I had strangers telling me to literally kill myself over a shitty fan-made video I made at 17.
While the majority of tumblr is a great place to explore, too many of its users don’t want to have adult conversations, y’all want an echo chamber. If someone don’t agree or makes a different point (IN A RESPECTABLE WAY MIND YOU)- they are toxic and told to fuck off. I promise you- no matter what fandom or community you are in, it has toxic people. They only want to be told they are right and do not want to think but do as they are told. Do not be this person, that is not the way the world works. Even if you and some else agree on 99.9% of things, there will always be something you don’t. Be adults and have conversations.*
*this is not me saying any phobic or racists people get a pass on their views- y’all are the worst kind of trash. This is more about views on regular things
While this site has made me happy, it’s also taken a toll on my mental health (something people who post here preach about yet rarely hold themselves accountable for causing mental stress). I was so worried about making fucking strangers mad that I would have anxiety for days. Some of you are so busy calling out other people that you fail to look inwards and see who you are and what toxic traits you have. Ive people literally run off this site and told they are shit because they didn’t update fan fiction regularly! Fan fiction! A free fucking sometime a book-worths of story for you- for free! And they are told they are shit because they have lives outside and they don’t update at the exact time they promised.
I’ve seen this site grow wholesome communities. I’ve seen friendships made on this site. I’ve seen so many amazing pieces of art and beautiful writing. I’ve been lucky enough to talk to some really great people. But I’ve seen this site literally cause real world harm. I have seen this site turn people hateful, I have seen this site make people fearful of making one mistake. I’ve seen people such down, I’ve seen people afraid to speak up.
On a last note: just because you are liberal, and think everyone deserves rights, pro-choice, all that stuff (which I totally agree with) it does not mean you are a good person. You can be a bad person with liberal views. You need to be a good person to those around you first. Evolve and learn.
I know this post won’t mean much in the grand cesspool that is this site but to those who it reaches- this site is not the end all be all. Your true friends, who listen to what you have to say- they matter. Your chosen family and friends- they matter. So if you see someone getting hate, speak up because if someone did that for me- I might leave this site with a better taste in my mouth.
✌🏻bye yall

the Stranger Things fanfic realm is an absolute cesspool. what is going on in this fandom? even in other fandoms you have a mix of cringe-worthy with some decent stories and then some real gems. this show has been out for six years, where is the good fanfic?!
I excluded so many tags on Ao3 and my eyes still had to see something about Billy Hargrove/Eddie Munson NC-17 voyeurism. you take that shit over to Wattpad my good sir.
I stg I'm no stranger to smutty PWP stories but this is ridiculous bc THERE'S NOTHING ELSE
