AROUND AND AROUND WE GO!!!
January 28th is my birthday, dubbed Meimiday several years ago by my friends (I think it was hojo who started it). For those years, I would spend all day watching streams from said friends playing games for my birthday entertainment. Over a decade ago, however, when asked what I’d like to see I kinda just went “Why don’t you just beat some games?” and so the festivities truly began. LAST DAY TO DOWNLOAD FREE 3DS GAMES! go ahead and grab these while you can:
Pokemon Picross (allows you to hack your 3ds at any future date, absolute top priority)
Swapdoodle (kind of like an upgraded pictochat if that's something you're into)
Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo challenge (cute little Mario game for people with lots of amiibos—or those who make a lot of nfc cards)
Stretchmo (puzzle game)
Pokemon Rumble World (beat-em-up)
Pokemon Shuffle (puzzle game)
these ones are not exactly free but still worth considering:
Pokemon Bank (free initial download, but in order to use it at any future date you MUST pay $5 in order to download the internal app, Pokemon Transfer. After the eshop closes both apps will be free to use for those who have already downloaded them, so the $5 is a one-time purchase.)
Zelda: Twilight Princess Picross (can be purchased with Platinum Points, not cash. available here)

"op art"! i finally remembered, the term for my mazes is op art. art made from geometric lines and shapes that create optical illusions, distortions, movement, perspective...
considering that's what my inspirations at megamazes called it too, i think i should start tagging it as such. i'll go back and re-tag them when i get the opportunity
i'm a big fan of art that doubles as function, like op art mazes, voxel art stretchmo levels, etc. it gives a reason to explore the art from every angle and discover new perspectives
of course that's related to why i like video games so much, hehe

next video series is probably gonna be my pushmo and stretchmo levels! with the closure of the eshop the series will no longer be available, so i'd like to give them the full sendoff treatment. i'm particularly proud of my stretchmo levels… and apparently it emulates quite well~
plus i've had a specific pushmo script sitting around for *ages* and now might finally be the time to break it out… once again fulfilling years-long backburner dreams hehehe
there's plenty of logistics questions outside of getting footage – like where do i draw the line after i did *every single* mega man portrait? how in depth should i go with commentary and collections? i'd give them the full treatment, but i DO have to work for a living…

Wasn’t able to get everything I wanted on 3DS & Wii U eShop (cuz I procrastinated like a idiot) but here are the last games I got:
3DS:
All BoxBoy Games
Stretchmo + DLC
Crashmo
Dragon Quest 7 & 8
Harmo Knight
Kirby Triple Deluxe
Persona Q2
Kid Icarus 3D Classic
Team Aqua Theme (idk how I didn’t have it)
And Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon (Physical)
Wii U:
Pushmo World
Kirby’s Epic Yarn
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Paper Mario
Warriors Land: Shake It!
Kirby Squeak Squad
Metroid Prime Hunters
Pokémon Rangers Series
Super Mario 64 DS
Pokémon Pinball: RS
And Super Mario 64 and Majora’s Mask cuz they were $2 each (had them on Wii so I got a discount, might as well right?)
Oddly, for Wii U I was only missing Virtual Console stuff for the most part, and for 3DS I was (and still am) missing bigger “current” titles.

Episode 85: Pushmo, Crashmo & Stretchmo
Download this episode or listen on SoundCloud
The Casual Hour’s Johnny Amizich returns to the show to push, crash and stretch our knowledge of Intelligent System’s string of the 3DS and Wii U puzzle games. While we mainly focus on “the good one,” that being the original Pushmo, we do take a look at the entire franchise. Plus, we talk about the much more accurate European and Japanese names for each game in the series.
