There’s something to be said about studying by myself, and there’s something to be said about going to the lab. Slipping on my lab coat. Walking in the rain without an umbrella or rainproof coat. Drinking old coffee in the early afternoon. Sleeping in the courtyard and breaking laws. Something to say about banned books and flannels, painted nails, and blonde hair. Early fall when it’s still hot outside. Diary entry after diary entry about the same person in different voices.

A bit of journaling advice for systems (that we really needed to hear back when we were figuring things out):

Don't expect perfection. All of those beautiful aesthetic journals you've seen on studyblr or instagram? There's a chance you could have one, but it's more likely you won't.

You'll have headmates with messy handwritings, who write with your non-dominant hand, who scribble on the edges of the pages instead of writing within the lines. There will be headmates who love colored fineline pens and washi tape and stickers, and headmates who write in ballpoint pen or pencil or sharpie.

If you can let go of the expectation that everyone will follow one aesthetic or one format of writing, it'll make journaling much, much smoother.

A second tip: if you can stand a little less linear organization, have more than one journal. There's no reason you can't bounce back and forth between different notebooks, so you can always pick up an old unfinished journal and just... continue it. We have journals with entries from 2021 followed immediately by entries from 2024.

HI 😊!!!

Well, I think that 2023 was a good year, I improved in many aspects in my life, but there are still work to do. But I'm not here to complain, I just want to remember that progress is made of small steps, that add up at the end.

Looking back I did a lot of things this year, I'm kinda happy with my progress.

This year was the year that I most dedicate to learn English, and woww, I learned a lot, I even can write posts here, I would never imagine this at the beginning of 2023.

I'm happy today, because tomorrow I complete a 365 days streak on Duolingo 🔥

Beginning and end of the year, my consistency improved with time. Now I want to apply what I learn about habits in other fields of my life.

I just realized that I'm addicted to anything with a streak counter, and I tend to not let the streak break, so I'll try this more.

There are other topics I want to talk sometimes, but I think that because the blog is called "sophia-codes" I must only talk about code, but the truth is that this blog is a studyblr, and I think I should write about other topics here as well. (maybe I'm overthinking this.)

Actually, I overthink a lot about posting here, maybe I should just ignore my thoughts and post anything that I want.

That's it, I still have a lot to improve, and I'm looking forward to 2024, because I have big plans for this year. And, of course, I'll be sharing my progress here.

Also, I'm happy with the new friends I made :)

Hey there, strangers!!!

It's been a great while!

As you may (or may not... probably not) remember, I am no longer just a student but a teacher too. And let me tell you it's been quite the journey!

Also, as a little uni update, I'm a month and a half away from my graduation and omfg I can't believe I'm ending this chapter of my life... but... not quite yet xD I still have to do my social service and my thesis so... I'll be here around as a studyblr a little more. After All that I guess this will be more languages related as I'll continue with french and start learning german. We will see! I'm trluly glad to be back in this community. Kisses! Also, stay hydrated, global warming is a bitch and, at least in México City we're //suffering// for the heat! So, take care of yourselves!

Hello Dear Reader,

Let me re-introduce me to all of you.

I'm a girl (woman?) in her 20s from Brazil.

Almost four years later, I came back to this Tumblr. And I'm grateful for it.

In my teenage years, I always heard of Tumblr but never really got the way to use it (especially because it wasn't that much popular in Brazil).

But in 2020, thanks to a community of fans from a band I enjoy, I started to use it and really liked it.

As I was in the last year of my undergraduate, I used this blog as a form of a source of inspiration to study, following the studyblrs.

And today, years later, I revisited it and read all the pots I've made.

I felt proud of myself considering the level of anxiety and the suffering I was facing that year.

In the end, I got my bachelor's degree in Speech therapy and Audiology in April 2021 (everything was delayed because of the pandemic).

A few months later I started to work as a speech therapist, but it wasn't a good job, I had a very difficult boss. This experience triggered my anxiety even more, and then I started therapy with a psychologist. In 2022 I left this job and entered a one-year professional postgraduation course. In July, I started to work part-time as an audiologist in a hearing aids clinic.

Last year I continued to work as an audiologist in the same clinic, but now full time, moved to a new apartment and now I'm living alone.

This year I decided to apply to another post-graduation course, this time in the audiology area, aiming to receive a especialist degree.

It means I'm back to the "formal" studying. Maybe I'll start to post things related to the studies again.

Right now, I'm focusing on (continuing) finding myself. So, I'll re-use this blog as a diary.
