*low wheezing from underneath my bed* okay. hang on. okay.
so i know i haven't been on top of asks lately. this is true. however, i have scoured my DMs. and my Discord messages. not one single person in there can i have been said to be neglecting, so this can only be about my askbox, i'm pretty sure.
oh, man, there is a wealth of beauty in there. so many good headcanons shared, ideas--it's a meadow of joy and i go in there and frolic sometime. i love all of you who send asks. you take the time to craft a headcanon, or just say something silly, and it's great.
there are a few reasons why i'm not answering asks as frequently, and why i tend to queue them if it feels appropriate/if i know i have some good stuff in the pipeline:
you deserve my effort: i try not to post asks without a proportional addition from myself. you guys put work into it, and i love it, and i want to put work into it back! if i'm not sure what i want to say yet, i may sit on an ask until something comes to me. if you want an olderthannetfic style askblog with minimal commentary...go somewhere else.
i try to stay consistent: this is a multiship blog. it makes more sense to post asks about certain ships when i'm actually writing content for them, so sometimes i save HC asks for when i have actual fics in the pipeline. they also help get my creative juices flowing as warmups on heavy writing days.
i have a life: sometimes my social energy just isn't where it needs to be to answer fandom asks. sometimes life happens, and the details aren't something i owe anyone.
i say this with respect: pick one. parasocial or social. if you'd like to have a conversation with me, then get in my DMs or my Discord. if we're not actually friends, then it's not appropriate, or kind, to talk to me like you have this weird, "bestie, can we chat?" fandom relationship with me when i don't know who you are. if you'd rather stay on anon and lurk and maybe like posts here and there, that's okay too! you are more than welcome to do that. i love you no matter what you choose.
well...not *you,* anon. this was profoundly rude, which is why i'm posting this ask as a screenshot and blocking your IP address.

Any chance of some hints into the upcoming commissions pipeline? You teased at some awesome stuff coming in a reply the other day :)
We've got a piece that takes place at V, a piece that was a silly headcanon that I posted a good while ago being made into reality, and two fascinating fantasy AUs coming down the pipeline!
And commissions are still open if anyone wants to join the queue!

How far ahead do you queue your posts? I ask because I’m curious if there’ll be (or if there is) any Hundred Line art in the pipeline!
I usually queue stuff of that day JST time, so everything I see each morning, basically, I'd love to post more Hundred Line art but thankfully a lot of the very good artis i've seen on twitter and pixiv are also on tumblr, so just looking through the tag will keep you fed for a while

I'm tired.
I've been in some kinda weird headspace all week, and I don't think returning to Tumblr is helping. I came back because Twitter is eating itself alive, but I'm really not getting what I want out of this place either. To be honest, I think I just need a huge social media detox. Tumblr, Twitter, everything.
I'm not going to deactivate (probably ever) because I have way too many good things archived here. But I really want to be less online so I can refocus my attention on things that actually matter to me: making music, learning to draw so I can make horny webcomics, and getting more involved with my actual local offline community.
I'm gonna queue up a bunch of stuff for now, but going forward I think maybe I'll just use this page strictly as a gif repository for all the absurd amount of gifs I've made over the years. There's tons of stuff I've never posted (and some I kinda CAN'T post thanks to Tumblr's ever-wavering censorshit laws). So stick around I guess, cause there will always be something interesting in the pipeline.
Anyway. Moots, you can always message me for Discord if you want to keep in contact. Otherwise, I think I'm gonna hermit up and retreat to my personal site for my day-to-day shitposting. Look me up on Neocities. Buy my music on Bandcamp now before they decide to go all corporate and change the pricing and payout laws.
I'll still be "around" for awhile, but definitely in a diminished capacity.

We are not the anon, but, for what it's worth (at least on mobile) the following tab on your profile shows the last update for an account now (just in case some poor soul is unaware of this) — we bounce back and forth between mobile app/desktop website, but haven't bothered to check the desktop website for that.
For us (not saying anything about anon, or anyone else) — we use both our rather nonfunctional/large dashboard as well as For You depending on headmate. Some of us don't want to run the risk of running into some asshole (anti-endogenic, anti-xenogender, anti-fiction folks). Because of how For You board works, we are guessing it takes all of your recent posts/communities and so you run into...absolute horsecrap sometimes without meaning to.
We think it might just be taking words and going "hey this works" when that is an Absolutely Not.
Two examples:
We follow @/sophieinwonderland because she is pro-endogenic (and, technically, if she so wanted could use endogenic for herself but as far as we know she does not). We like her style of thinking but she is a syscourse blogger.
For some reason, while there are some folks who advocate for fiction freedom in the MOGAI coining and stimboard communities, a lot of them seem to be pro-censorship, pro-look-at-me-heading-down-the-facism-pipeline-spreading-misinformation-on-what-proshippers-are-about attitude instead.
Sometimes we just want to look at pretty art and see shitposts; some of us can't risk going outside of a dashboard (because they will get the urge to vet every single one of those blogs) and some of us can (and just not vet the blogs, block if we see something we don't like witout becoming obsessive over it, and queue stuff). If something lands on our dashboard we do not like it's easier to filter it out by blocking the bothersome blog who reblogged a thing. With the For You tab, it's a basically endless stream of (usually) blogs we don't follow.
I'm sorry if this is badly-worded. I got out of a meeting, went straight to break, and spent tge entire break attempting to word my thought process/personal opinions on this. 😓
- 💰
Consider: a lot of people have been here for up to a decade or more. Many of the blogs I follow have been inactive for years. Also, not everyone is catching up on their entire dashboard every day. I did that when I first came to tumblr back in 2010 and followed maybe like 10-15 blogs, but definitely not anymore. We also didn’t even have a “for you” page back then, and most of us got used to using the site a certain way because of how it was built. I can definitely see how you’d have a different experience coming here more recently though!
Ok, so a lot of the blogs you follow are inactive, sure, but why not have a readable DASHBOARD? If a really cool blog who hasn't updated in five years suddenly comes back, don't you want to make sure you know about it?

Queueing up a bunch of stuff including my general rambly thoughts on 6.1 and some predictions for the game moving forward!  Sorry I’ve been so quiet here!  I’ve been very busy with some other activities, dealing with the last bit of moving into the new house, and I’ve been sick twice in the last week as I posted earlier.  But there’s a bunch coming down the pipeline that I’m very excited to share!

State of the Kingdom  - the Plan for 2021
We got some stuff in the pipeline that I'm absolutely excited about!
Comic
Tumblr media
Universe Law Of Fire II - Starheart
Start 29. January 2021
I'm at the colours on this one as we speak, and it is turning out so lovely. I really put a lot into this one and got a bit out of my comfort zone - and it was worth it!
It's arguably a step up to the first one in every aspect. The story sure is more precise and better paced I think (given I had enough time for this one to really make it round), there are more backgrounds, more dynamic stuff, more everything basically!
It is set a few days after ULF - I Tale of Moons.
The DSS Hootsforce got a couple scratches during the whole deal, so our heroes go and visit the dwarven space station of Altrada! And trouble soon follows.
It has Space Dwarves - aka. Wind Rose will be the supporting cast for this one!
New pages as always every Friday, 7pm CEST/CET.
It's 48 Pages plus Cover - so that covers this year Comic wise!
As ULF: Tale of Moons is now finished the whole thing can finally be decently read over on the @universelawoffire blog via the link in the top that I will update to link to the first page once the last page is up so one can click through casually.
Fanfiction
Tumblr media
Universe: Wizard of Cowdenbeath
This Saturday, 16. January, Universe: Wizard of Cowdenbeath starts!
It is the Zargothrax and Ralathor backstory thing I keep harping on about since months - now it's finally time! And I'm so happy.
It got shorter chapters on average but more. Word wise it's the longest story yet, and also with the most chapters. It's 18 main Chapters plus 3 mini Epilogues (the latter I'll post in one go or within a week once we're there. These don't have covers.)
But the other 18 do all have Chapter covers. And all but one are pretty nifty xD (I might fix that one tho. As is it really stands out.)
Upload will be every Saturday at the usual time over on AO3 (but with Link Post here too)
U: WoC will end in the middle of May, and I hope to finish "Kilchoan" till then because it does belong to U:WoC in a sense. If I don't however, there will be a The Warrior reblog run till June or July? I should be done by then.
Kilchoan shouldn't get too long, but we will see.
The one after that will bring the story back into more recent events in the Universe. Kilchoan is another jump into the far past. But for now I’m just thrilled to finally upload this one! How you’ll enjoy it too!
Art
Tumblr media
Nothing changes for the Sunday art spot - I'm currently burning through my queue because I literally haven't drawn anything else but Comic since Christmas, but once that is done I should be able to keep that one going as usual. (I still got stuff till march so that should be fine.)
Speaking of march. As I have my one year anniversary in this cozy little fandom by then, I'll revive the Wednesday slot for some "old" GH Art reblogs from last year!
Other
A big thank you to everyone who started following me - I hope you are aware that there is a Twitch streamer lost in me and I actually do greet each new follower personally saying an enthusiastic “welcome [name] thank you” to myself every time. So please do feel welcome! x’)
Big shoutout to everyone reblogging and liking and even leaving comments - it's been delightful so far and I hope we can have more of it! We seem to have fun. I like that! <3
Spread the love! 💖👑

This is just a reminder that my (crit role) shipping tag is “cr: smooth sailing” and that I do my best to tag shipping posts/artwork with both that and the ship itself (shadow/gast, fjor/ester, beau/jest, cad/wulf, etc. without the slashes), if you would like to blacklist my shipping tag or any shipping posts I reblog. I try to catch most, and I often check with the op’s tags to see if it was tagged as a ship or not, especially if it’s unclear if it’s shipping art or not (I know i’m awful at reading that in art sometimes, so I do like to double check)
If it’s a post about shipping discourse/drama, i’ll try my best to keep it out of the main tags & tag it with at least one of the following: “negativity”/”discourse”/cr discourse”/”ship drama” (and I also avoid reblogging negative posts in general, but for the few that I do)
Edit: Know that I run a very interesting and wonky draft/tag/queue pipeline, so stuff from months or years ago can & will pop up. This is mostly to note that there will be fjor/clay, cad/wulf, etc. posts posted well after the official confirmations that our beloved firbolg is aroace. I fully appreciate and respect his identity, I’m just working through a backlog of old art & that involves ship art. They’re all being tagged appropriately

Hey sorry not sure if my message sent. I'm a SWE who's interested in how you got material properties to work in SM64 (specular, diffuse). Also, are you actually using RTX hardware for mario instead of reshade? i'm thinking of looking into adding this functionality to smash melee, but am unsure where to start.
So first off, I just want to give a friendly warning here: what I’m doing with RTX is far from optimal to achieve what you might be looking to get. It’s mostly an experiment to see what stuff can be achieved JUST by using hardware-accelerated raytracing, but modding material properties into other games is probably much better served by just modifying the existing rasterization process. I’d definitely advise against using raytracing unless you want to achieve certain effects that are only possible with it. It’s not an easy task to create all the necessary structures, and it’s actually what probably took most of the work in sm64rtx.
Just to make it clear why am I saying that it is far from an optimal solution, keep in mind my project is a completely standalone renderer and I had to look into how to feed all the relevant information to it to get it to draw anything. And that is only possible because Mario 64 is a very simple game and it hardly uses the N64′s processor in complex ways. However, it still involved me having to learn a big part of how an N64′s graphics chip draws anything to the screen.
Now, regarding your actual goal, you’d definitely be much better served from studying how Dolphin works (both the emulator and the Gamecube GPU itself) and seeing what is possible with the hardware already. If the fixed pipeline does not serve what you want to achieve, then you can probably look into if it’s possible to extend its functionality or redirect some of the routines to your own.
For example, I was able to find an unused debugging tag in the N64′s graphics pipeline that allows me to queue a rendering command that is technically a NoOp but it still has some information attached to it with a tag. By inserting my own material property information in that tag, I was able to notify my renderer of certain material properties the game doesn’t support at all. I’m not much of a N64 homebrewer so I don’t know if this process is that optimal, but it was clean enough for me to be satisfied with it. Messing with the decomp is pretty much my first experience with it.
As for how to actually attach that information to models and such, that will be mostly up to what you can figure out and what the game supports. So far, I’ve chosen to just keep a simple json file with named references to the textures or models from the game and store my own modifications in there. It’d be preferable to modify the models themselves if possible, but I figure people will use model replacements like Render96, so I have to keep a certain degree of compatibility with the method I choose.
Hopefully all of this is a good enough starting point to give you an idea. Keep me posted on whatever you do with Melee!

hood-ex said: okay i see you with your fully fleshed out mongoose mythos that should be an amazon book
LOL, thanks. It actually will be, its one of many things in the pipeline....like, I wrote the first two books in the series back to back in 2013....and then queried/pitched them just in time for everyone to go “oh no, sorry, werewolves and other shifters are over, please check back in ten years when the Publishing Cycle resets” and like, they were among the books I was prepping to self-publish around five years ago when Shit Got Dramatic for me.
And so now they’re back in the queue for things at the top of the To Do list once my surgery happens and I get back to fighting form and my old standards of Productivity and Ability to Exist Whilst Reluctantly Capitalist.
In the meanwhile, I’ll probably be adding/posting stuff from them on my original content sideblog once I get through my current queued projects there, lol.

I posted earlier this week about my silence and absence on this blog, and now that I have finally built my queue back up, I want to state some more things that are coming down the pipeline.
Super Sim Challenge is back, and will be posting twice a day! I plan to actively play it, and if it gets really packed, I’ll bump the posts back up to three or four times a day.
I’m taking a break from hair recolors. I have a lot of WIPs of other types of CC that I really want and need to finish and get out to y’all. I just recently reached 2.7k and I want to release a little something as a thank you :)
Throughout the week, and probably next week too because I’m terrible with a strict timeline, I will be updating my Super Sim page, Download pages, and basically my whole blog with the new “https://” that Tumblr requires. Due to this, my blog may look broken and some links may not work, so some tags that you might want to search if you are looking for specific things are: “hair: the witching hour”, “Super Sim Challenge”, and “downloads”
Lastly, I have a bunch of Sims just sitting in my gallery, so if there are any of my supernatural sims you want me to upload, let me know and I will try my best to get their stuff together in a timely manner. I already have a Super Sim child dump queued for this week for those who want Hana’s children in your game.
Once again, I just want to say thank y’all so much for sticking around and making simblr a fun experience for me :) My ask box is always open and I’m always excited to meet new people, collab, or just talk about random things!

I had an excellent week. I was able to cleanly 'do' the big gallery overhaul, resulting in many changes. This is an important release for anyone who does a lot of downloading.
gallery update
So, the meat of the gallery overhaul is complete! Where available, subscriptions, the gallery downloader, and the url downloader will now use the new parsing system to parse 'thumbnail pages'. The new pipeline has numerous improvements behind-the-scenes and is another important step in allowing users to create and share their own downloaders for new sites.
I won't go into all the details here, but anyone who has poked around the new parsing system's advanced dialogs will now see that gallery pages are now featured.
The important change for most users is that the main gallery downloader page is now a 'multi-gallery' page. It looks much like the multi-watcher for thread-watching, where the one page manages multiple queues simultaneously. Gallery download pages now list every query you enter separately and work on them simultaneously, reducing overall ui load significantly and making it much easier to pause one query without affecting others, spot queries that return 0 results, avoid big chokes and delays caused by larger queues, and manage the results you finally get as different pools. The old single-download page can no longer be created--your existing gallery pages will be updated to multi-pages on update (your existing queues will survive as generic 'updated from' entries, but everything will start paused, so you'll want to go through them, verify it all looks good, and then unpause when you are ready).
And like the multi-watcher, gallery pages can have a 'highlighted query'. Double-clicking on a list entry will show its current thumbnails in the media panel and show its full details in a panel below the main list. This new panel is very similar to the old gallery page's ui and lets you see downloads as they happen and inspect the file import queue and gallery log and so on in more detail.
Gallery download pages are now also downloader-agnostic. You open them just as 'gallery' from the F9 new page popup (there's also a new shortcut for them, under the 'main_gui' set), and they have a new 'gallery selector' button that lets you change the source for the next queries you enter. The gallery selector means that one gallery page can handle queries for multiple sites simultaneously! This new button will always default as 'deviant art' for now, but when I do the last stage of this downloader overhaul--the 'searcher' step--I will be able to add some reasonable 'favourite' options here.
Subscriptions can also use the new gallery parser, and they have the neater 'gallery selector' as well. You shouldn't notice any difference with how they operate--they should just run as before. But after some thought, I have reduced subscriptions' maximum 'first time' and 'regular' file limits to 1000 and written some help on the edit panel to explain this change. tl;dr is: use download pages to do big one-time syncs, use subs to keep up with new stuff. If this 1000 change affects you, please check out the help and feel free to ask me about it.
URL downloader pages also support parsable gallery urls. They only do the single page you add (i.e. they don't start a whole new multi-page search, but this capability will come), but they'll suck up any drag and drop for any working parser. For this week, I've written gallery parsers for danbooru, gelbooru (0.2.0 and 0.2.5), and e621 to get us started. Like with 'file pages', I will roll out more gallery parsers over the coming weeks until all default downloaders are using the new system.
A lot has changed. I have done a whole bunch of testing here and I am overall happy with it, but if you encounter problems with an unusual query or site or anything else, please let me know. If you are the sort of user with 200k items waiting to download in your current session, I strongly recommend you ensure you have a good backup before you update. This multi-gallery page also makes it easier than ever to create a session with lots and lots of files, but I will reiterate that the client tends to get laggy at 50k+ items, so take it easy and make a schedule for big stuff if you can!
There is a little more work to do here to support some unusual situations like tumblr, but the big hump of the downloader overhaul is now done. The 'searcher' change will be much simpler (it is basically just converting samus_aran -> http://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=list&tags=samus_aran and some ui to manage it) and then it'll just be ui cleanup and figuring out an easy-mode share object, and redoing some help, and then we can talk about what we want out of a login manager (including whether it should be put off for something else).
multi-watcher
The multi-watcher also has a new 'highlight' panel just below its list. In a similar way, it has similar ui to the old single-page watcher and lets you inspect the file list and gallery (thread) log. Single watcher pages are removed this week, so all existing single watchers will be updated to multi-watchers. A variety of related single-watcher 'page naming' options and so on are also removed. Rather than be redundantly complicated, hydrus now just has 'url downloader', 'watcher', 'gallery', and 'simple downloader'.
full list
gallery:
gallery url classes can now be linked to parsers!
if parsers are linked, gallery pagewalk can now work on the new parsing system. gallery import pipeline has been significantly updated to reflect this
gallery import objects are now 'multiple' gallery imports, much like the multi-watcher, with each separate query having its own entry in a list (they also run in parallel!)
the multi-gallery list will show file/gallery pause status in slender columns, and will show a 'stop' character when gallery parsing is done
wrote a 'gallery selector' button and added it to the new multi-gallery page, so you can spawn queries for ~different sites~ on the same import page! it always defaults to 'deviant art' for now, but when the next 'searcher' overhaul step is done, this will be customisable
the new page selector and related 'pages' menu is now simpler--with the new selector, you just select 'gallery'
added 'new_gallery_downloader_page' shortcut action to the 'main gui' set to allow quick opening of this new page type
wrote a 'gallery import panel', which reviews a single gallery import stream, and added it to the multi-gallery page to show the current highlighted query
as all gallery imports now run in parallel and work on the new system, the now almost-useless 'cancel' gallery pagewalk button is now removed
with the wider availability of the new gallery log for file count and error reports, shifted around and smoothed out some gallery status text presentation
improved the auto url_class->parser linking 'try to fill in gaps' logic to work with gallery urls (this was surprisingly complicated)
fixed a misc stupid waste of time in auto url_class->parser linking
many misc updates to gallery pipeline
.
subscriptions:
wrote a new gallery pagewalk pipeline for subscriptions, which still does oldest-to-newest url addition and obeys file limits and so on
numerous subscription pipeline and error handling tweaks and improvements, particularly in regards to the new code
subscriptions now have max initial and periodic file limits of 1000. existing subs with >1000 or infinite will be cut to 1000. there is a help button on the edit sub panel to explain why you should do large syncs with the manual downloader and not subs
the ugly and dangerous-if-you-scroll-in-the-wrong-place gallery selector mismash control in the edit subscription panel is now replaced with the new gallery selector button
fixed an issue where the edit subs panels could sometimes say '48 years ago' (i.e. displaying a literal time delta since 0, 1970) on initial timestamps
juggled some 'periodic limit' reporting logic to skip an unusual false positive that affect hentai foundry subs for now and more in future
.
urls:
the url downloader now accepts gallery urls and will receive drag-and-dropped gallery urls. at the moment, it only parses the one page (i.e. it doesn't start a new 'searching' pagewalk) and sends the parsed links to its file queue
.
watcher:
finished 'watcher panel', which reviews a watcher, and added it to the multi-watcher page to show the current highlighted watcher
the single watcher page is completely removed--it is only the multiple watcher now. all singles will be converted to multiples on update
some single-watcher options (like watchers naming their own page tabs and the [404]-style page name prefixes) are removed
multiple watcher panel now lists file/checking pause status and has separate buttons to control these paused statuses
fixed some misc watcher highlight code--highlighted watchers should correctly publish to the page from the start of session load now
improved some 'repage' logic in how highlighted threads get removed
.
misc:
discovered a scroll-setup parameter that stops janky scroll-to-click-focus behaviour on all the new scrolling panels, thank the LORD
improved some 'can't parse' error handling for post url parsing
reworked how all importers present their network jobs to the ui, including fast response if the switch happens during a job
in prep for searcher switchover where all downloader sources will be harmonised into one system, booru identifiers now present in several ui locations as 'name', not 'booru: name'
updated the danbooru parser to deal with the new 'next page' markup they use
wrote a gelbooru gallery parser that works with 0.2.0 and 0.2.5 gelb sites--an ancillary issue where gelb-related downloaders could sometimes not accurately figure out the magic '42' next-page offset is hence now fixed
wrote an e621 gallery page parser
these sites hence now support single-page gallery drag-and-drop
added url classes for artstation gallery url and its api counterpart, but didn't go further yet--we aren't quite there with api pagewalking just yet
updated deviant art gallery url classes
added an e621 'search initialisation' gallery url class to improve some future drag-and-drop stuff
url normalisation no longer cuts off 'www.'-style prefixes
url comparison is more careful to test 'www.'-style prefixes, so a file import cache should recognise that 'http://www.blah.com/blah' is the same as 'https://blah.com/blah'
did a bunch of refactoring to further split up the bloated ClientImporting.py
fixed some misc downloader layout that may have been hiding some texts previously
some multi-watcher and multi-gallery events like add/pause query should be a bit snappier
in the parsing ui, url and title priorities are now 50 by default
prepped a little subscription unit test code for when searcher object is done
misc downloader layout improvements
misc listctrl refactoring
next week
A lot of stuff I overconfidently said "I will check this this week" about has been left in the dust of this unexpectedly large job. I want to spend a week focusing on this smaller stuff and catch up back to regular schedule.

Infinity War announcement
(No Spoilers)
Because I know a bunch of you are going to ask - after having read a synopsis/spoilers @olivesawl and I are NOT planning to see IW in theaters. We’re hoping once Avengers 4 comes out we’ll be able to watch both as a set, but at this point we’re not up for it. It doesn’t sound like a movie we would enjoy, on a number of levels, and seeing it just for the sake of fic mining isn’t worth it.
For those hoping for an IW plot in Tales, we have long talked about doing a story with some sort of all hands on deck battle. So we will be doing a story where Thanos comes and everybody joins together to fight him. We have to get through Nate’s story (which we are currently working on) and Vision’s story (which will involve our version of Ragnarok) before we can get to that. So it’s on the queue, but has to wait its turn.
In the mean time, enjoy our current postings and know we are working on some other stuff for the pipeline. The results from our survey regarding posting WIPs were overwhelmingly positive, so we’re talking about how that will work, too. Expect more news on that in the next week or two.

Silimma hemeenzen!
Hi there, and welcome to everyone who followed from the “snake-tongued” post! My notifications have exploded in the last couple days. Quite a few of you have sent questions and other kind messages, and I wanted to remind you all that because I run on a queue it may be a couple weeks before I get around to replying to them all. Meanwhile, I’ve got some cool stuff coming down the pipeline, so I hope y’all enjoy!
