Forgive me, this will be all over the place.

I have noticed that over the past few years the hate for the boys has been escalating particularly for Jimin, Jungkook and Joonie.

For Joonie, among other things, because as a leader, if they break him, they might break BTS. (Gosh look at him😭. Has me my man, my man, my man-ning all over the place like a dog in heat, it's embarrassing and a little concerning). Sorry, I digressed but look at him 😭😭😭, y'all don't thirst over this man enough. Woof! 🫦

Anyways, moving on.

For Jungkook, among a plethora of other reasons, because of the unrivaled, unmitigated global success he has had and continues to have (am so proud of my funky lil popstar ✨).

He came, he saw, he conquered. Kicked ass and took names. Ate and left no crumbs. Had them by the neck. Pulled up and shut it down (Somebody stop me 😭)

The way some army attribute his success to the 🛴 guy boils my blood, and that rage is for another day.

This post is towards Jimin.

Jimin's hate is both from outside and inside the fandom ( am not talking about solos, toxic shippers, mantis and the like) but people who claim to be 0T7.

I know that Jimin has had haters for years but the shady tweets I saw during the FACE and MUSE era from so called "ARMY" said a lot. Am not here to debate who is or isn't ARMY. That's for another time.

My question is, why does Jimin's success seem to be a sore spot for some 0T7s? The one reason I have been able to come up with is that Jimin sort of messed up the hierarchy system.

Let me explain and see if I make sense. For a long time, when people thought of the maknae line, no matter the order in which they ranked Tae and Kookie, Jimin was always the third one. Too many posts relegating him to the role of cheerleader and not much else. I saw posts before solo works commenced dismissing the idea that Jimin would ever release an album but would instead fully support the others. Well, he not only released two solo albums, but was also a composer, lyricist among other things, so they can take their opinion and smoke it.

When the solo era started, people had different expectations for what every maknae members would achieve but no matter the expectations, those for Jimin were that he would be third. Bronze medalist if you will.

FACE was released, Like Crazy got to number 1 and I logged off twitter. We were in hell particularly when it went from 1 to 45 after Billboard deleted over 100k sales and changed the rules (thank you Travis Scott for freeing Jimin and finally taking that number 1 spot). The hate from outside was expected, it was when it came from within the fandom that it hurt.

Fast forward to MUSE and it got worse. Sprinkle in a dash of Are You Sure and we have

Here I have a list of things I have noticed

1. An increase in the number of people talking about how they hate PJMs and how they are making them turn against Jimin. Honey, if a solo can make you dislike one member, you aren't sh*t anyway.

2. Dislike for Jimin disguised as dislike for his solos. If you haven't seen it, consider yourself lucky.

3. How sometimes ARMY came in droves when a member didn't achieve something but Jimin did. For example Spotify US. When a new song failed to enter but Jimin's songs increased ( during both LC and Who era).

4. His long run on the hot 100 has really revealed people's true colours. It's not his fault. Blame the fandom for their clear bias.

5. The number of ARMY accounts on X low key calling AYS fanservice.

6. Discourse on Jimin's ability to sing. I don't argue with stupid people.

I could go on and on but what I am trying to say is that in a perfect world, it would be wonderful if all the members had the same support from ARMY. The discrepancy needs to be addressed (caused by a multitude of reasons) but making it a member's fault and not the fandom is asinine.

I used to be a 1D fan and my favourite member to date is the least favourite and successful, Louis Tomlinson but that doesn't mean I hate on Harry, Zayn or Niall for their success. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

What prompted this you may ask? I saw a post talking about Jimin being the company and fandom fave and having special support. Like huh?

All in all what I am trying to say is that Jimin really shook things up and some people resent him for it. That one post (article?) about Jimin bringing out either admiration or envy keeps getting proven right.

I said I was going to stay out of bg3 discourse, because honestly, I never disliked a fandom more in my entire life because of the amount of gatekeeping, projecting, misogyny, and media illiteracy, but that tired old, stupid ''Gale and Kids" discourse popped up on my dash against my bloody will so this is a friendly reminder that Gale NEVER said he didn't want kids. What he did say (during a very turbulent time when he not only had a deadly orb in his chest, but a deadly tadpole in his head) that he was not "father material."

Not thinking you are "parent material" does NOT equate to not wanting children. Someone who knows they would be an "amazing parent" could not want children, while someone who is insecure about the possibility of being a parent can "want them." Gale never specifies this, so it is left to the PLAYERS INTRPRETATION. Let me repeat that slowly. It. Is. Left. To. The. Players. Interpretation.

This is a roleplaying game, with "open" endings for the player to imagine whatever they want. Every companion has multiple endings, nothing is canon in that regards. If the player wants to imagine their Tav and Gale having 500 thousand kids, then leave them be. If you don't like the idea of it, then don't think about it.

And saying it's not a valid headcanon is insane considering Gale has more interactions/dialogue about the kids in the game than the others and Tara does mention something about grandchildren. So people are not pulling this headcanon out of their asses.

Some of you are so damn insecure that seeing someone else's headcanon actually makes you act like an asshole on main. It's not cute and saying it "triggers" you is not an excuse because Gale is not real. He's a fake person. Go outside and breathe in some goddamn oxygen.

Like most of my mental health issues, people having incorrect takes i disagree with about fictional characters i love is multicausal. I'm firmly off twitter, tiktok and, more recently, off instagram as well, so my main source of frustration is tumblr.

Sometimes it's a genius reblogging a vague post about the treatment of victims in fandom and the way it ties to culture irl and thinking it's a reasonable and respectful take to suggest we retcon stories that involve themes of victimhood entirely and not see how this would be out-of-pocket and inappropriate.

Sometimes tumblr.com does the funny thing on my dash where it sees I liked several Steph posts so it shows me a wildly incorrect take from someone so determined to hate onto Jason they'd make Steph into an asshole- and sometimes I get into the notes because I'm a masochist and see someone calling Jason a terrorist for the events of Seeing Red while referring to Mia Dearden as a teenage girl (nevermind that she and jason are practically the same age), a csa victim (several times) and Green Arrow's daughter and sidekick, but never by her actual name. Of course, there's the time I made the mistake of going into the Mia tag because (god forbid) I wanted to find art of one of my favourite characters to reblog. Honestly the mia & jason discourse made me angrier on behalf of Mia than Jason tbh.

There's also the frequent tendency of people to maintag jason hate, which comes from I believe two sources. First there's the people who love to hate Jason and don't realize it's still not a positive post for the character (i.e. "bftc is actually good! People just need to accept that jason is an obsessive little psycho, he's actually in character in it he's just evil and I love him for that, he's one of my favourite crazy evil fucked up guys :3 love how fucked up in the head he is"/ or "jason's hypocrisy is a core element of his character and that's what makes him interesting, him going after children (never mind that jason mia and tim are all in the same age range and they're all in their late teens at that point) but having a no drugs for children policy is a super important factor that gets referenced in later comics (i.e. bftc/morrison's b&e) and I love how complex and flawed that makes him!!"). And course, there's also the people who think it's appropriate to put hate in the character tag, both towards his fans and towards the character, which is how we end up with "jt fans steal the trait of being a victim of sexual abuse from female characters because of misogyny" in the character tag ending up on my dash.

I don't tend to understand fanfic as "takes", because fanfic is transformational work yadda yadda just because I don't like the characterization doesn't mean I should make assumptions on what the author's actual knowledge and opinions on canon are. However, sometimes people will write things in their author note that are definitely opinions, maybe to explain or justify their fic I don't know, which is how sometimes you'll be browsing ao3 and find yourself face to face with a fic about Morrison era Jason, a csa survivor, sexually abusing Sasha, and an author note that states "Jason Todd is a hypocrite and I write him as one". (Come to think of it, all those posts about hypocrisy are starting to make me think i'll have to make a side-point about cognitive dissonance in my personality meta 😮‍💨). So sometimes, it's ao3.

And of course, sometimes my lovely mutuals vent to me on discord or dms about the discourse they have seen, like phenomenally vapid shallow comparisons of James Gordon Junior and Jason Todd that vividly ignore how fucked up Dick's behaviour was in the only era where that comparison would make sense and hide behind a nothingburger to avoid acknowledging the psychophobic nature of their take. And sometimes, in those situations, I get so annoyed about it that, after checking out the source (because I'm a principled hater) I will vague about it myself.

Honestly I'm trying to tone it down because this blog is supposed to be fun and interesting and I know I've been pretty negative recently (probably related to my extremely stressed current situation but who knows) but, yeah. That's where it comes from.

There's been a lot of online discourse about Pedro Pascal recently about his overexposure in the industry and his political views. Whilst I do think that a lot of the negative criticism is justified (e.g., throwing Gina Carano under the bus, only defending free speech if it aligns with what he believes, presenting misinformation about the US border/Palestine to the public with no consequences, comparing Trump supporters with 1930s German socialists, etc) I think that a lot of people are being really weird about his private life. I've seen people (who are not left leaning) say that he is disingenuous by not being out of the closet (we don't even know whether this is true) and that him holding Vanessa Kirby's hand at a con due to his anxiety is creepy (even though Kirby doesn't appear to have an issue with it). This is supposed to be the side that doesn't care about someone's sexuality and yet they are mocking this actor for not disclosing it publicly. People have even been saying that he is "queerbaiting" or that the anxiety thing is an act or that he is less of a man because of this. I'm just not going along with this type of discourse because it comes across as invasive or unnecessary.

I mostly agree with you. I think it's stupid to care about celebrities personal lives in any way. They're not special. They're professional pretenders with overinflated egos. No one should waste their time actively seeking out information about them.

But when you become a famous actor (or musician, or any kind of performer) you don't have the same expectations of privacy that normal people do. It just comes with the territory. So, sexuality speculation, while stupid, is something that actors should expect. If you can't handle being in the public eye, don't become famous. I have little to no sympathy for actors who complain about people reacting to shit they do in public, too. Pedro Pascal in particular seems like he's very performative in public, from what I've come across in various places. His holding hands with Vanessa Kirby because of "anxiety" comes off as fake to me. He's playing the soft, nonthreatening, left wing, millennial beta male. Same with his weird glowstick thing that people are talking about. His sexuality is purposefully ambiguous because that's what plays with the audience he's trying to cultivate. At least that's how it seems to me, but I only see what comes across my dash, so to speak. I don't look up celebrity news or follow any celebrities on social media, so I could be wrong.

USING 'CHAI' AS AN ABBREVIATION FOR PAVITR IN SHIP NAMES IS NOT FUCKING PROBLEMATIC OR STEROTYPING OR WHATEVER DUMB SHIT I'VE SEEN (mostly non-Indian)PEOPLE SCREAMING ABOUT OUT HERE ON MY DASH. GO TOUCH SOME GRASS, Y'ALL, FIND BETTER PROBLEMS IF YOU'RE SO PRESSED TO BE MAD ABT SOMETHING!!

No no. Go on. Find me my fellow Indians spearheading the conversation about 'chai' being a problematic name. Show me where the droves of offended desis are. And I don't mean just a few Indians agreeing with the "chai is stereotypical" thing while non-Indians lead the conversation, I mean the Indians being the majority of the conversation. Since, you know, that's how it would and should be if it's actually such an offensive deal to Indians, right? We all have social media. It's not like we're waiting to be spoken for. Surely there should be at least as many, if not more, offended Indians about the chai thing as I've seen white people on here. I'll wait.

Obviously I don't speak for all Indian people, I'm just one person, but from what I've seen and what I can tell, there don't seem to be any actual Indian people getting offended or claiming his name being 'chai' is Bad and Evil and Offensive and Stereotyping?? I loved his ship name being chai. I loved the representation. I loved the desi tadka, I remember when I exited the theater after ATSV and scoured through my social media and saw "chaipunk" and "chaiflower" and everything with chai going around. I was so fucking elated to see an ethnic word being used in the tagosphere!! It made my Indian heart so happy to see an Indian character who is so so close to my heart be represented with an Indian cultural word.

But nooooooo apparently we can't have nice things, because people just had to white knight about it. Apparently it is harmful and stereotypical to be using chai as his ship name.

Clearly, we gotta change it to golden. Or something similarly English and white-sounding and you know, inoffensive.

So, because I want to nitpick all the arguments I've heard as to why using "chai" is bad, let's go point-by-point:

It's reductive, you're describing a character by just one thing - yes well noted, that's literally what ship names are for. They are shorthand for characters to remember them by, they're supposed to be memorable one-liners to go by for them. It doesn't "reduce their whole personality to one bit" or "define them" or whatever - by that logic, is Miles' entire personality "flower", or Hobie's entire personality "punk"?? Gwen's just a "ghost" then, huh?? The whole POINT of a ship abbreviation is to be short and memorable. And chai is a whole fucking lot more memorable than "golden" or "shine" or whatever - those alternatives aren't even based in canon?? They are just purely fanon interpretations. Meanwhile chai is actually based in canon and a really memorable line from it too. I've had friends who were so confused as to who the golden abbreviation is for and then asking me how it's related to Pav when they browsed through the tags, but whenever they heard "chaipunk" and stuff they got it without me having to explain shit. Also, y'all are reading the Indian reaction to the chai-tea thing very wrong if you think we are offended by chai being a memorable bit about him - we are literally the ones most hyped about the chai-tea thing? You have no idea how loud the Indian theaters cheered at that line and how many Indian-made edits have been circulating. Again, with the caveat that I speak for my experienced social circle and not every Indian to ever exist, WE LOVE THE CHAI THING. It is a really lovable and memorable bit to us - one that has endeared his character to so many of us so quickly! So I have no idea where the idea that we're offended by the chai-tea line being memorable came from, but y'all really need to go out and talk to some desis before speaking and getting mad for us.

It's stereotypical - Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't realize an Indian character named with an Indian ethnic word about an Indian cultural drink is stereotyping, now. Just say you felt called out by the chai tea bit or got tired of how much people were talking about it or didn't like having to learn and use an ethnic word and be done with it. Now, to be completely fair, this is the point in the argument that holds the most water. I have seen a lot of fanart and fanfic in the very early days of ATSV fan content, quite far down the tag at this point, that reduced Pav's entire personality to chai, just made him the tea guy, made him so chai obsessed it was quite OOC and annoying and yes it did feel pretty stereotypical. That kind of thing is extra obvious in some NSFW arts I've seen around, that really give me the ick because that is not necessary, that is actually just weird and smells a little like fetishizing. But long story short, yes, Pav's character did tend to be reduced to chai in the early fan content. But guess what. That kind of thing happens to every side character in beloved media until more creators get their hands on them, adopt them as their blorbos, and make more developed characters and content out of them!!! Every side character that has a memorable bit gets overused in that bit until more creators get on board to flesh them out! Or have we forgotten "AND PEGGY!", "Honor", "ONIONS!!" and other miscreants? Surely those are ALSO stereotyping then, right? Also. Even if Pav's early fan content with chai was veering towards overuse and maybe stereotyping. Let's assume that's right. HOW EXACTLY WOULD THE SHIP NAME CHANGE THAT, THEN? The ship name changing wouldn't have done diddly squat about that - he was already getting more developed character in fics and in art before people pushed for his ship name to be changed to something less ethnic sounding. I should know, I was one of the people writing him even then. The tag changing wasn't going to magically change the content. The fan creators did that.

It's unrelated to him, it's stereotypical specifically in that flavour - bitch what. Did we watch the same movie. This point in particular frustrates me so much, because I remember someone on here - I don't remember who - talking about how it makes sense to use "flower" for Miles because his favourite song is Sunflower but in that same sentence saying it's ridiculous to use "chai" for Pav. What logical hoops are you jumping to get to this conclusion, my sibling of the sea? If we can use "flower" for Miles - which was literally a song he sang once, maybe twice, in the first movie, never even saying it was his favourite but just showing us he liked it - then it makes just as much sense to use "chai" for Pavitr? Pav literally says he drinks chai every day with Maya Aunty, it's linked to his life and family, and he clearly liked and thought of it as important enough to put it in his intro speech. Also, as an Indian, in my experience at least chai is a very important and yet casual cultural thing for us, that a lot of us have a connection to in our everyday lives and it makes sense for him to have it too. It's not like people are just seeing the Indian character and automatically labelling him with chai - he talks about it, he likes chai, it's not out of nowhere. Also, if we're talking about how related the abbreviation is, HOW is "golden" related??? That is even more out of nowhere??? Everyone I've asked seems to have a different justification of why golden is used. From bc he's a golden boy to golden bc of his bangles or vibes - they're all speculative and based almost entirely in fanon. Like. Chai is so much more related.

Also. Using chai? IT'S NOT A BIG FUCKING DEAL. It's just a word. It is normal to me, to us Indians, as normal as using any other word in English, or Hindi, or our regional languages. I don't see why it's such a big deal that it needs to be changed to something English. It's literally just like if you made his abbreviation "tea" - except now you've taken the desiness out of it. Congratulations.

This isn't a cause I'm going to die mad about or anything. It's just been slowly annoying and eating away at me to see so many, again from what I can tell mostly non-Indian people, being mad about chai being his ship abbreviation. It feels like a bit of a gut punch to the part of me that was so happy to see this tiny part of myself and my language and culture represented in a character I love. As my friend once said, "chaipunk sounds like a cool punk movement I'd join. goldenpunk just sounds white."

The straw that finally broke the camel's back and got me posting about it is this realization that I had:

All the hue and cry to change Pavitr's ship name from "chai" to the more 'acceptable' "golden"? It reeks an awful lot of whitewashing.

People literally got so offended about an Indian character having an Indian ship abbrev that they clamoured till it got changed to something English. It leaves a very off taste in my mouth when I think about it like this.

i (obviously) love object shows!! i first watched inanimate insanity when i was 8-10, and around late 2020 started watching others. i don't pay attention to anything community-wise anymore, so don't expect me to know what's popular/the most recent drama. i have no desire to interact with fandom, but i don't mind others following me :3 i just watch the shows and that's it

im a subsystem part of a much larger system!! we're all object introjects Lol . i don't really have good communication with the others nor do i really know what's going on system-wise at all. we are 'locked' at age 15 though & frequently forget what year we are actually in, so please be nice ^^; also don't treat me like an actual 15 year old i am a grown adult

I'll disagree with the anon that nobody is caring. I think what happens is your view of how much traction something gets is based on your personal dash on whatever social media you use and if I was on larrie tumblr and twitter only I'd think the same thing but that's really because there's nothing for us to say. Taylor is honestly unproblematic, there's nothing going on, what's there to talk about. Anon might be too used to holivia which was like watching a car crash so the talk was constant because every day we were like this wasn't on our bingo card... But since leaving larrie twitter, I don't interact with it (I couldn't stand the stupidity of their discourses) but I interact with Harry content so I have a more broad Harry fandom on my dash, and also from tik tok, I can tell you gf harries are eating it up. A huge number of them is watching her films and buying tickets for the play. They're very happy because she's "relatable" for them and proof that they're "his type" (I legit saw a video of a girl saying this). So the engagement is there. I think they're just going lowkey with the paps right now bc holivia was so overpapped that the gp started questioning the legitimacy if it. The fans are doing a good enough job for now.

I do think they’re back to doing things the way they did with Camille, for example. Which we all should be really grateful for. Olivia was so narcissistic and so intent on making herself the main character that it was incredibly obvious that the relationship wasn’t real and Harry came out of that ordeal looking like an idiot. So people who want to believe that Harry actually dates women, and that they could be “his type“, will love the way this one is going. They see this as “low-key“. And if it’s low-key, then it must be real. 🙄 Honestly, I truly don’t care. As long as he isn’t miserable, then they’re both getting their apparently much-needed PR and she’s not getting shoved in our faces. It’ll be over when it’s over, and life goes on.

read through his tumblr (that I actually considered blocking a while back because I was annoyed by how much of them I was seeing) and. good god. talk about fandom/internet dictated social compass, it almost seemed like he was saying that liking cranboo was immoral for being a character he played as a minor and not just something he didn’t personally like, plus the “gross shit” “unethical kinks” comment. you don’t need to prove that you don’t want that in your community for sake of moral superiority, you already said just what you thought of it. and his clarification was still vague! it just seems so stupid to say “oh sorry for speaking so vaguely on my boundaries, I was just trying to say that I want disgusting freaks to stay away so I can engage in my good, clean, morally righteous oc smut.” idk why the vibe was so trying to say that being a cc means that your whole community owes you the kind of porn you want to consume.

Not to sound dense but what exactly was implied ap gwilliam did? I watched episode on my phone at worked and must have missed something, just remember another volunteer girl calling him monster. Came back home to my dash full of discourse and now i feel stupid.

it is implied that Gwilliam has been s3xually + emotionally abusing Marti, potentially blackmailing or threatening her to continue working for his party after she is clearly seen wishing to opt out. it’s never said outright but she transforms from a cheerfully naïve idealistic promoter to somebody haunted and jaded in the space of a year (?) this is all between the lines though, so yeah, if you were watching on your phone and keeping track of the main ruby storyline you may have missed it

the same people who celebrate and love zayn's shows.. are so unhappy that louis was in a documentary. which was recorded WAY before Liam's passing. its only after Louis that they're getting mad. people seem to mad that Louis is alive??

I guess I knew people will find a way to hurt Louis over this, but its a whole another thing to watch it happen.

I haven't really seen that sort of discourse on my dash... I mean, I don't blame or resent any one of the boys for going forward with their lives. I don't know what people were expecting? That the boys would have no new projects for months and years?

Fortunately for me and most of the people who loved Liam, we live in reality and have also accepted the fact that Liam has always been an afterthought for most people. The very fact that people are quarrelling over who is more affected, who is getting called out for not being affected, proves me right about everything I have thought about this fandom for a while now. Liam was only a prop for most of the other fans, and it's sad his death is being used to fight over stupid things like this.

As a multishipper I do have to admit that Louis and his desires are rarely centered in Loumand... Like this just my experience. And I have tried to address that this need to prove Louis's love for Armand is also an instance of not centering Louis and more about Armand's desirability but then someone turned it around into Oh you're probably a Loustater. Like it's so stupid. So many valid criticisms get turned into shipping discourse or Lestat vs Armand abuse olympics.

Yeah absolutely, Louis' perspective often takes the sideline because we're too busy fighting about shit that doesn't matter or people's lack of interest in him as a character, which can be really fucked. I know, I personally have spent (too much) time fighting against the "Louis never loved Armand" -ish but again, one of those instances of shit that is blantantly adressed in the text and yet since May people have been fist fighting on the dash about it, because it's got to be about "Whos the better Partner", "Who loves Who", "What Ship is Better and Why are you Stupid for Having Different Interests" blah blah blah blaaah

I don't understand the shallowness and audacity it takes to assume that because one person likes one ship/character/whatever means you *must* hate this other thing, and then come into that person's inbox pissed about shit no one said.

anyway if you think every buddie shipper who ships buddie and makes or reblogs silly little jokes about puppy buck is an offensive homophobic dick because a handful of people on twitter made some gross comments about bucktommy puppy play six months ago and now as penance none of us are allowed to be into the idea of puppy buck in the context of shipping (because whether or not you believe eddie is straight we are STILL allowed to ship it and make posts about shipping it and talk about them in the context of being romantic and sexual because that’s how shipping and fandom works) then i’m at the point where i really don’t mind if you break mutuals with me.

if i consider us friends outside of the context of fandom then ill be really sad about it but if my posts are making you so angry you have to vague post about them and try to make me feel bad after i literally alienated and pushed away most of my buddie mutuals to distance myself from shitty behavior and now i won’t ever really have many friends on that side of fandom as if that’s not proof enough of where i stand. i just don’t know. i don’t know what to tell you.

i can’t second guess myself every time i want to reblog a silly a joke. i don’t have the time or energy to scroll every single blog that’s the source of a post on my dash to make sure op never said a bad mean thing about tommy. i can’t sit here and wonder if im taking up too much space talking about buddie and being excited and hopeful about something that makes me happy, pretending that it doesn’t anymore. i’ll be sad to lose some of you if you have to go, but if you’ll feel less angry seeing a few buddie posts sneak through your filters, go for it.

i like bucktommy. i’m a multishipper but buddie is my first and truest love in this fandom and i spent months feeling bad about it because a of handful of people i now have blocked made me feel gross and uncomfortable but life is shitty and the country is burning around me and i’m going to find humor and joy where i can and if they means i just have no friends in this fandom and im reblogging for myself and this piece of lint in my pocket, so be it.

again, this isn’t discourse. i’m not trying to call anyone’s opinion wrong or bad or whatever. but if seeing my posts makes you angry, i’d much rather you protect your peace than make vague posts about me or call me stupid for ‘shipping buck with his straight best friend’ or whatever because buddie being my favorite isn’t going away any time soon and honestly it’s going to get insufferable for you once the show comes back.
