Another weekend means another 13.1 miles. But this time it was warm! As in 24C warm 馃敟 So I trialled something called "run-walk" to help in my goal of increasing distance. In a nutshell you run for 8 minutes - then walk 1 minute. Repeat for 2 hours. This is meant to reduce stress on your body enabling you to run further - which definitely helped in this heat. Another Sunday, another 13.1 miles. Four consecutive Sunday's in a row! Pleased with that. Hamstrings were sore from a workout on Thursday (!) but still pushed on. That. Was. Tough. Mentally and physically. Not enjoyable. Three half-marathons on consecutive Sundays. Trying to establish what food does and doesn't work. This felt slow, heavy legs and quads were sore after only half way. Pleased to have made it round and kept pushing. New furthest distance klaxon. 23km in the bag. And I ran it fasted - a) to disprove the myth of having to eat before you run and b) I couldn't eat anything this morning after yesterday's epic feasting. My longest ever run. Needed to break the 2 hour barrier which was a mental obstacle I had to overcome. Not the greatest pace but that wasn't the point.
