Laptop Repair
Laptop Repair : A Comprehensive Guide to Fixing Your Laptop
Laptops have become an essential tool for personal, educational, and professional use. Despite their convenience and portability, they are prone to various issues that can disrupt their performance. Knowing how to repair and maintain a laptop can save you time, money, and frustration. Laptop Repair provides a comprehensive guide to understanding, diagnosing, and fixing common laptop issues.
Common Laptop Issues
Laptops can experience a range of problems, from hardware malfunctions to software glitches. Here are some of the most frequent issues:
Battery Problems:
Over time, laptop batteries lose their ability to hold a charge, leading to shorter battery life. If your laptop isn't charging or drains quickly, it might be time to replace the battery.
Overheating:
One of the most common laptop problems is overheating. This often happens when the internal cooling fan is blocked by dust or malfunctioning. Overheating can cause the system to shut down unexpectedly or even damage internal components.
Slow Performance:
Laptops can become sluggish due to a variety of reasons, including lack of memory (RAM), software bloat, or even malware infections. Upgrading the RAM, cleaning up unnecessary programs, or running a malware scan can significantly improve performance.
Broken Screen:
Accidental drops or pressure on the laptop can crack or damage the display. While a broken screen might seem catastrophic, replacing a laptop screen is often a straightforward repair with the right tools.
Keyboard Issues:
Keyboard problems can arise from hardware failures or debris trapped under the keys. If certain keys are not responding, a simple cleaning or replacing the keyboard can solve the problem.
Basic Laptop Repair Tools
To get started with laptop repairs, it’s essential to have the right tools. Here are some of the basics:
Screwdrivers: Laptops use a variety of small screws. A precision screwdriver set is necessary to open and work on them.
Plastic Pry Tools: These are used to safely open the laptop case without scratching or damaging the exterior.
Antistatic Wrist Strap: Laptops are sensitive to static electricity. An antistatic wrist strap helps prevent accidental static discharge that could harm internal components.
Thermal Paste: Used for cooling the processor, thermal paste needs to be reapplied when replacing or repairing certain components.
Compressed Air: Dust buildup can lead to overheating. Compressed air is used to clean out fans and vents without opening the entire laptop.
Step-by-Step Repair Process
While each laptop issue requires a specific solution, the general repair process typically follows these steps:
Diagnosis:
Before attempting any repair, it is crucial to identify the problem accurately. This could involve running diagnostics software, visually inspecting the hardware, or paying attention to the laptop’s behavior (such as error messages or strange sounds).
Backing Up Data:
Always back up your important files before attempting repairs. Some repairs, particularly those involving the hard drive or motherboard, can result in data loss if not handled properly.
Disassembly:
Use your screwdrivers and pry tools to carefully open the laptop. Take pictures or make notes during disassembly to ensure you can reassemble it correctly later.
Component Replacement or Repair:
Depending on the issue, you might need to replace components such as the battery, hard drive, RAM, or even the screen. Some repairs might involve cleaning, reapplying thermal paste, or reconnecting loose cables.
Reassembly:
Once the repair is complete, carefully reassemble the laptop in reverse order. Be mindful of screws, as each one has a designated place.
Testing:
After reassembly, test the laptop to ensure the issue has been resolved. Check for performance improvements or whether the specific problem (such as battery charging or screen display) is functioning correctly.
When to Seek Professional Help
While many laptop repairs can be done at home, there are times when professional help is needed. For example, issues with the motherboard or power supply are complex and often require specialized knowledge and tools. Additionally, if your laptop is under warranty, opening it or attempting repairs on your own may void the warranty. In such cases, it’s better to take the laptop to a certified technician.
Conclusion
Laptop Repair 101 is about empowering users to take control of their tech devices by understanding common problems and knowing how to fix them. With the right tools, patience, and a bit of practice, most laptop issues can be resolved without the need for expensive repair services. However, knowing your limits and recognizing when a professional is needed is equally important to ensure the longevity of your laptop.

found a way to fix the weird problem where the home button on desktop tumblr doesn't work when endless scrolling is off unless you click it twice! i don't know if anyone else has the problem, but i'll share what i did anyways. also i accidentally posted this once before finishing typing it out so sorry if you saw that one :')
anyways, it's not the most elegant solution, but it's pretty simple and i don't know why i didn't think of it earlier lol. just get a browser extension that can change where links take you! the one i got is called Redirector by Einar Egilsson, which is the first one that came up and seems to have the best reviews out of what i could find.
then you just want to set it up so "https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard" takes you to "https://www.tumblr.com/" instead. problem solved! it does refresh the whole tab, so it's a little bit slower (especially if you have other extentions like dashboard unfucker), but it's worth it if you're REALLY annoyed by having to click something twice.
more specific instructions for the aforementioned extension under the cut, because it took me a minute to get it working.
go to the extension's settings, create a new redirect, and enter the following:
Description: (anything) Example URL: https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard Include pattern: https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard Redirect to: https://www.tumblr.com/ Pattern type: Regular Expression Pattern Description: (anything) ADVANCED OPTIONS Exclude pattern: (leave this blank) Process matches: No Processing Apply to: HistoryState Save
and that should do it! note that if you do this while you currently have tumblr open on any page of the dashboard, going to the next or previous page will trigger it to activate and you'll lose your place. this only happens the first time, and everything should work completely fine after that.
#ghost town... 2!#tutorial#btw yeah i contacted support and they couldn't recreate the issue and so weren't able to help me.. i still have no idea what causes it#for me it does it on any browser and any computer; even with all extensions + security settings + antivirus disabled#so it's weird that i can't find ANY mention of this problem anywhere. if anyone else has experienced this please let me know lmao#anyways i guess it has something to do with “HistoryState” since that's the only one that needs to be checked for the extension to work#but i'm not tech savvy enough to figure out anything further than that#i'm just glad i've found something to kind of fix it at least lmao

Something something about all the firefam being infected and needing to cure a part of themselves before they can move forward on their journey and this 2 parter is to get them to that place.
Something about buck being trapped outside - separated from his team and it representing how he’s felt his whole life - separate - the odd one out - on the outside of things - abandoned - nothing he does being enough.
Athena fighting against the system - and trying to do so from within a part of it but it pushes back against her but she hasn’t realised it yet.
Hen - always under pressure - needing to justify her existence because of who she is - a black lesbian - but her team that’s around her help to relieve that pressure.
Chim - the person who takes himself out of the equation in acts of selflessness - unable to save Kevin from afar in the past but can help save Hen here and now - even while infected.
Bobby - the leader but from the sidelines - instructing and guiding but never truly part of things - being the one to perform hens surgery to save her life and sacrificing’ himself to get the antivirus is him getting to be a part of things and have someone lead him for a change - all playing into his doubts about his abilities and skills as a captain - and proving him to be the best captain
Maddie - always having to listen and support from the sidelines - like with Daniel - listening to her parents decision to pretend he didn’t exist and having to support Buck because they wouldn’t/couldnt. She’s just rediscovered her voice and now she’s going to use that power to help save Chim.
Eddie - being absent - a metaphor for who Eddie truly is being absent from his life - not getting to be a child because he was forced into a parental role by Helena and Ramon meaning he was absent from his childhood - when you figure out who you are - not present in this episode - but now he is figuring out what is important to him - Chris and the family he built in LA - and that will lead him to return to LA
#this is not coherent or fully formed in any way#I need to muse on it more#but there’s definitely something about how it all plays into each of their much bigger arcs#I could go into a whole thing about Eddie’s absence from this episode to be honest - as an extension of the Kim of it all#that was the ‘infection’ Eddie has been carrying taking hold and the symptoms becoming visual#Chris leaving for Texas was basically Eddie’s absence - as represented in this episode- from his own life#but reconnecting with Chris is him taking the antidote and now his recovery can begin#so he can fully heal and then get back to his life and find joy - because he’s no longer infected as he has been since childhood#this episode is really setting things up nicely!!#I’m excited for part 2#911 spoilers#911 abc#eddie diaz#evan buckley#kym watches live#Athena grant#Bobby Nash#maddie Han#chimney han#hen Wilson

Interdimensional Epiphany l Rafayel
CHAPTER 4
Chapter 3 | Chapter 5
Summary: A fortnight of compensated leave from your company was supposed to be a rejuvenating experience. Things take an unexpected turn when Rafayel, your choice of ML, starts becoming self-aware. His love knows no bounds, not even interdimensional ones.
Warning(s): Subject to change as we progress further into the story. The series has major character deaths, subdued manipulation, heavy angst with a happy(?) ending, slight yandere themes, fluff, did I mention angst? For this chapter: none I guess???
Word count: 2.2k
Playlist coming soon.
Notes: Long chapter to compensate for lost time ;) Who do you think is responsible for what happened to Mo Art Studio? Things will start to get really crazy from the next chapter, so be prepared, y'all. Anyway, hopefully, you enjoy the read and stay tuned for the series. Lmk if you wish to be added to the tag list for this. ♥

You had been fumbling with your phone for hours, clinging to the desperate hope that if you rebooted it enough times and installed at least three different antivirus apps, your game would magically fix itself. But no — every single time you opened Love and Deepspace, there he was. Rafayel. Sitting smugly on the sofa, arms crossed, eyebrows arched in that infuriating way. No matter what you did, none of the other characters came back. Just him. Mocking you with his pixel-perfect posture.
As the night wore on, your panic grew, and your “solutions” became increasingly... unhinged. Somewhere around 3:30 AM, you had decided it was time to escalate. Your phone was placed in the middle of a ritual circle, because clearly, logic and Infold’s tech support had failed you. Unfortunately, you didn’t have access to red ochre or actual candles, so you made do with chili powder and tea lights. You had briefly considered ordering incense or essential oils, but delivery wouldn’t arrive until the next afternoon — and honestly, you weren’t sure you’d live to see the delivery man.
With four or five generous pinches of chili powder, you traced a crude circle on the floor, following dubious instructions from a YouTube video. A six-year-old could’ve drawn a better one, but you were far too sleep-deprived and frazzled to care. You sat inside the circle and launched the cursed app, arranging the tea lights as it loaded.
The moment Rafayel’s image appeared, lounging casually on the sofa, you threw your head back and began muttering incantations and prayers you had hastily scribbled down earlier. After a few intense minutes of chanting, you opened your eyes and stared at the screen with bated breath.
Rafayel remained still, resting his chin on his hand as he watched yet another one of your antics. While your theatrics were beginning to border on ridiculous, there was something inexplicably endearing about the sight of you — paprika streaks smudged on your chin, clutching a black plastic birthday cake knife like it was a sacred athame. He decided to entertain you a little so right when you tapped the screen, he spoke casually, “It’s nice to lounge on the sofa. Wanna give it a try?”
He had watched as your face brightened and you let out a sigh of relief after hearing him speak one of the programmed dialogues. A grin had spread across his face since he knew he was about to ruin your little moment of happiness.
Just as you tapped the screen to check, his voice echoed from the app, “Take a chill pill, cutie.”
His grin widened as you stared in stunned disbelief. He tilted his head slightly, still resting his chin on his palm, eyes never leaving you as you scrambled to your feet in a dazed panic.
Enough was enough. You grabbed your phone, shut it off with a dramatic jab of your finger, and face-planted onto your bed with a muffled groan. You’d deal with the consequences of this digital nightmare later. For now, you gave your exhausted eyes their much needed sleep.
So much for your relaxing little vacation…
The next morning, you sat comfortably on your bed, your laptop resting atop a pillow on your lap as you scoured the internet in search of a logical explanation for the bizarre events unfolding around you. Despite your determined efforts, nothing remotely relevant came up.
In a final attempt, you reached out to a few other players through your SNS accounts. The responses were underwhelming — some mild backlash, a sprinkle of sarcasm, and one brutally honest comment that gave you an unwanted reality check. Discouraged, you finally shut your laptop with a sigh, giving up on your search for answers.
A glance at the clock told you it was around ten in the morning — your usual time to log into the game. With a small flicker of hope, you powered on your phone, silently praying that whatever strange glitch had taken over would’ve resolved itself overnight.
The app loaded, and there he stood — Rafayel, wearing his God of the Tides set.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he greeted smoothly.
You exhaled in quiet defeat. So much for divine intervention. Your hopes had clearly been ignored by whatever higher being was in charge of otome game anomalies.
Refusing to give him the satisfaction of your attention, you continued with your daily tasks in silence, not sparing him even a glance. As you flicked from the stamina tab to the shop, his voice trailed after you like silk.
“You know,” he drawled, tone laced with a playful charm, “women who ignore me? Exactly my type.”
He didn’t get to enjoy his own flirtation for long. You navigated away to the task menu, claimed your rewards, and braced yourself for having to interact with him for the sake of the task.
When you returned to the main screen, he was already gazing at you with hearts in his eyes. He sighed dreamily, a soft smile curling on his lips.
“Perfect.”
You dragged a hand down your face, heat blooming across your cheeks. Taking in a few steadying breaths, you mentally braced yourself to confront the truth — or rather, the surreal presence of your fictional crush who now stood before you, partially real. You opened your eyes to find him watching you with unwavering admiration, as though he had all the time in the world. The intensity of his gaze sent your stomach into a series of dizzying somersaults.
A thought strikes you and you decide to check whether he is abHolding up two fingers, you asked, “How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Two,” he answered effortlessly.
You shifted to four fingers and repeated the question. “And now?”
“Four. Gorgeous, what is all this?” he asked with a tilt of his head, his brows lifting in amused curiosity.
You ignored both the question and the smile threatening to tug at your lips at the sound of his nicknames for you. Reaching for a sticky note, you scribbled a short phrase, then held it up in front of your face.
“Alright,” you said, “read what’s written on this.”
He narrowed his eyes slightly, then flashed a slow smile. “I love you.”
Brows knitting in confusion, you glanced at the paper and read aloud, “No, it doesn’t say that—” But your voice faltered as realization washed over you. Your eyes darted back to his teasing expression, and your lips parted in shock while a deep blush crept over your face.
As if to make matters worse, he blows you a kiss and follows it with a series of exaggerated, ridiculous faces. Despite yourself, laughter bubbles up and escapes your lips. Embarrassed by your own reaction, you hastily cover your mouth with one hand, your head dipping low as you try to stifle the mirth and steady your breathing.
Across the screen, Rafayel lifts a hand, his fingers hovering just above the digital barrier that separates your two worlds. His voice is tinged with something gentler beneath the jest. “Careful, darling,” he whispers, eyes glinting with mischief. “I’m the siren here. It’s rather cruel of you to try and steal my title with a laugh that enchanting.”
You don’t respond at first. You simply stare at him, eyes fixed, expression unreadable as a storm of emotions churn silently beneath the surface. For a brief moment, your throat tightens with words you can't quite say.
Before he can ask what’s wrong, you murmur, barely above a whisper, “I have to go.”
Without waiting for a response, you exit the game, the screen fading to black in a breath. You switch off your phone again as an added layer of defense, though against what exactly — him, your feelings, or yourself — you’re no longer certain. You lie back on your bed, eyes tracing the cracks in the ceiling, searching for answers that refuse to come. All the while your heart and your mind wage a paradoxical war.
Rafayel stared at the empty screen for a long while after you disappeared.
The usual spark in his expression dimmed, lips parted as if caught mid-thought. He exhaled a slow breath, leaning back on the sofa as the silence wrapped around him like a too-tight cloak. Fingers drummed against the desk, tinged with something unresolved.
He wasn’t angry. Not really. Just… frustrated.
Not at you, never at you — but at the invisible boundary you kept between the two of you. One that he knew, deep down, wasn’t purposefully placed, but had always been there. He respected it. He always has. But that didn’t make it any easier to stand on the other side of it, watching you retreat just as he felt you begin to reach for him.
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk and burying his face in his hands. Then—
Bzzz... bzzz... bzzz...His phone lit up against the dark wood of the desk. “Thomas <333” it read.
Rafayel narrowed his eyes, letting it ring out once. Twice. Three times. He wasn't in the mood to talk business, not tonight. But the buzzing didn’t stop. It continued with a sort of urgency that started to scrape against his nerves.
Finally, with a tired huff, he snatched the phone and answered it.
“What?”
The voice on the other end was panicked, shaky. “Rafayel— Rafayel, it’s the studio… it's on fire.”
“I’m here — right now,” Thomas continued, his voice breaking. “I'm behind the trucks — they’re trying to contain it, but it’s bad, man. Really bad. It lit up fast. People are saying it might’ve been electrical but— I don’t know— I don’t know. Everything’s going up.”
Rafayel didn’t hear the rest of what Thomas was saying.
The words — “fire,” “bad,” “going up” — were already drilling into his mind. For a second, all he could do was stare blankly at the floor, phone still pressed to his ear though the call had ended.
He shot up from the sofa like the floor beneath him had turned to lava, heart throbbing in disbelief. It wasn’t Lemuria, no. It didn’t have the tide-soaked serenity of his undersea birthplace, where the water hummed through the golden walls like lullabies. But Mo had become something akin to that. A strange, crooked version of “home,” built not of sea salt and coral reefs, but canvases and memories smeared in oil paint.
That was where the soul of his work lived. Where he painted when the insomnia hit. Where he sculpted his silence. Where portraits of you were lined on the walls and the floors, behind locked doors, waiting for a day that maybe, someday, might come when he’d be able to show those to you.
And now it was burning.
Rafayel stormed out of Destiny Café, nearly knocking over a chair as he went but he didn’t stop to apologize. He yanked his car door open and threw himself inside, engine snarling to life with a growl that mirrored the knot in his throat. Tires screeched as he pulled out of the parking lot, speeding through the dusty roads that led to Whitesand Bay.
The scent of ash still hung thick in the air by the time Rafayel reached Mo Art Studio. The sky above the house glowed faintly orange from the remnants of the firelight, flickering like the last breath of a dying star. His residence stood — or what was left of it — collapsed and half-swallowed by soot.
A small crowd lingered on the edges, murmuring in hushed voices, faces pale from having witnessed that sight. But many were already dispersing, retreating now that the spectacle had ended. The fire trucks were still parked near the wreckage, lights flashing low. Firefighters stood around Thomas, briefing him in clipped, official tones as they packed away equipment.
Rafayel stepped out of the car slowly, the door left ajar behind him as if forgotten. His boots crunched over scorched gravel as he approached, each step weighed down with dread.
He dropped to his knees.
The impact echoed in the hollowness of his chest more than the ground beneath him. He couldn’t speak. His hands sat limp by his sides as he stared up listlessly.
Thomas turned at the sound and rushed over to him with widened eyes and voice tight. “Rafayel—Raf, I—”
He didn’t finish his words after he saw the look on the artist’s face. He simply knelt beside him and gently placed a hand on his shoulder, offering unspoken comfort.
Rafayel’s eyes flared, aglow with a piercing ultramarine light that shimmered like the deep sea and glimmering fins of the same tincture, unfurled from just above his ears. They pulsed faintly, mirroring the rise and fall of his breath. Rafayel’s jaw clenched, hands fisted at his sides, twitching with restrained fury.
Thomas withdrew from him slightly, but he didn’t look away. He’d seen glimpses of this before — but never like this. Never when the sorrow ran so deep it cracked the surface.
Rafayel stayed like that for a long moment before starting, voice low but sharp as the edge of a blade. “I want to know everything,” he said. “How it started. When. Who was near the building. Who had access. Cameras. Witnesses.”
He saw Thomas nod immediately from the corner of his eyes before patting his back comfortingly. Rafayel only stared at the debris of his house blankly, at the second floor specifically where all his portraits of you had been kept. And in the distance, the sea began to stir — not in fury, but with a tight-lipped menace, like a clenched jaw moments before a scream, holding back a violence that needed only the slightest provocation to spill free.

more fates inverted stuff but i drag the other arg fellas into it too. keep in mind that their lore may get changed later. i am. Indecisive
oh man this is long— ah'll just put down the characters shown here and y'all can decide if you wanna read/see more.
CHARACTERS: IHasAFaceLULZ, Rochas313, Ozolog1, Mafioso, 1x1x1x1, John Doe.

facelulz!! she/they, cuz fuck it why Not
she may or may not figure out she's trans during her time forsaken but we're not going into that /silly. they keeping da suit tho!
one of her eyes r just. code now. they basically disappeared off the face of the internet due to jx1 in this au, losing her friends in that process and ended up isolating herself from it. did Not go online, played only offline games, and still get haunted so all of that caused them to be dragged down into forsaken.
i like to think one of her abilities is just. Her Paranoia. causing their code eye to reveal whoever is within her radius every like... 10 seconds, maybe? she's a Survivalist, that's all i can make out lulz.

my boy!! rochas!!! + closeup cuz quality
uhh something something the tree yoinked all of his friends accounts, leaving him the solo survivor of its spread. as it starts to yoink his away too, he made one last attempt to call for help from Roblox. but, like always, no one answered. then boom!
forsakened! dragged into his avatar!
like all the ARG fellas.
his blue hand is actually a glove! the nosoi infection kinda fucked his arm up so he was given it to bring himself some sort of comfort, and also not to accidently hurt someone with its sharp ass roots.
distantly hears the tree chatting for him to join it. he's ignoring it!! cuz fuck that!!!
oh yeah and the actual tree is a killer here. it yoinked the NPC that they made to talk to it and basically turns that NPC into anyone it likes to trick the other survivors into joining it. doesn't matter who, so long it works.
i think rochas might be support? the reason that the infection isn't getting worse is because by the advice of the internet(aka searching things up), he downloaded a antivirus and that ended up being incorporated into his avatar when he got dragged down into forsaken. so yippee!!
his abilities, uhh.. maybe tree walls? roots to block off entrances? traps to alart others of the killer? something along those lines.

arg trio dragging mafioso into their little friend group(his boys found them and they decided they're cool). yes they all speak in chat. well, facelulz is stuck with safe chat but— yeah. they get voices eventually, trust.

survivor 1x4 yippee!!
1x is still an asshole. very reluctantly helping out the survivors for survival cuz telamon can and will beat their ass. he already managed to do some perma damage, soo...
he only has one of the daemonswords, thingy. it's not as powerful, or dangerous, but it gets the job done. hit a killer? good job! they're stunned n' gets a mini game now, but now they know where you are. run.

I never know what to say when people ask me what my day job is, bc i suppose the Professional answer would be "some unholy combination of social media manager/IT support/graphic & web design" but the most accurate answer would be something more akin to Mundane Advisor. Grand Vizier for Hippies. You see, years ago, my mother used to rent out rooms to tarot readers/acupuncturists/psychics/etc, and let me tell you something about new age-y types: absolutely fucking none of them know how to make a website. As a 12 year old with a drawing tablet and a homemade Weebly site about seagulls under my belt, I was already some kind of tech expert in their eyes, and earned a fair amount of pocket money throughout high school offering dirt-cheap website & logo design services. (Child labor or entrepreneurial spirit? Who's to say.) Years later, through the powerful force of word-of-mouth-advertising and the fact that the venn-diagram intersection between "people who know what an SSL certificate is" and "people who know what an oracle card is" is razor-thin, I find myself somehow still in this field, & spending my days composing emails to the tune of "Please, sire - I know your angels guided you to make this massive blurry stolen JPEG of a unicorn your homepage background, but might i suggest... not... that?" "Yes, Mistress, verily; I am sure your issues with Microsoft Edge may very well be due to mercury being in retrograde, but ah, just in case, I would also urge you to run a scan with an antivirus program." "I--sorry? I'm sorry, Good Lady, but the premise of your new business venture is... 'The concept of love'? Spreading awareness for the concept of love? I... alright. okay. might i suggest, gently, though I know you wish not to sully your divine vision with such mundane matters as 'financial viability,' that for the sake of the kingdom, we, ah - refine our scope, somewhat--"

Discord Hack PSA
So, my Discord account of over a decade was hacked yesterday.
The account has been suspended and can't do any damage any more, but not after hours of my reporting the hack. Just in case the hacker can get to you via other hacked accounts, here's their MO:
They will greet you via PM (this will be someone you had friended in the past or at least talked to) if you've got a Nitro subscription - probably with "heyhey".
Then they will ask you to partner with you in a game because they need help with a quest. I actually did ask them why the game is not on Steam because this seemed fishy to me - but I thought I knew this person! So I did as they asked and went to the page soulsthief dot com. No warning from my browser, and the site looks professional and legit. I downloaded the "game", and my antivirus did not wig out until I actually started the exe.
Now, I didn't have 2FA activated for my account - it's so old, it just slipped my mind. That is on me.
Within seconds I was locked out of my account, and the hacker enabled 2FA for it so I couldn't just go and change the password.
So I immediately sent a report to Discord support - but...nothing happened. Nothing. Only after the hacker bought a Nitro gift, my account was finally suspended. But not before hours had passed and the hacker already tried to impersonate me to get to several of my friends! One almost lost her account too but her active 2FA saved her.
So if you are a Discord Nitro user, please beware of any of your friends and contacts asking you to install a game that is not on Steam, Epic, or any other reputable platform! And please activate 2FA.
Support is a complete shitshow and won't do shit if you get hacked.
You might also want to think really well if you wanna give your banking data to a company that won't protect your information in case something happens.

So it’s established that the only part of the mindflayer that’s actually robot is the black mechanical part, and that the real body is just for show, right? If the mindflayer exists only as the “head” part and is effectively puppeting a vessel, what if a mindflayer could control OTHER vessels. Maybe in order to survive in the harsh environment hell it has to puppet a more resilient and mobile body (after all, a head can’t do much on its own). Maybe when a mindflayer self-destructs, it only gets rid of the puppet body, leaving a chance or survival for the main head to find another host. Without a vessel to control, I imagine it’ll headcrab style latch itself onto another creature (husk, machine, or otherwise) and take over its body.
Husks would be relatively easy to take over due to their low mental fortitude, but as organic creatures they die fast and are pretty weak. The mindflayer would probably end up siphoning all of the blood out of it before they could fully incorporate themselves. Demons would be far more resilient, but would be more difficult to take over because they’d put up more of a fight (physical or mental). They’d be more difficult to pilot because they operate on hell magic. Perhaps the Mindflayers are so adept with hell magic because they had to learn how it worked to effectively control a demon host.
Other machines, however, would function a bit differently. The Mindflayers usually can’t fully override the original machine’s programming because that would destroy important drivers that are required to keep the machine functional. On the flip side, leaving the machine’s mind fully intact would result in almost immediately removal of the mindflayer from the host. Even a streetcleaner or a drone wouldn’t take kindly to having their body commandeered and probably has some sort of antivirus. Instead, the Mindflayers take on the role of a sort of symbiote; whether it be parasitic or mutualistic is up to them. Perhaps they provide support, extra processing power, or another pair of eyes to give them a leg up in combat. Perhaps they stay like this mutually until they can find or create a new body. Maybe they stay like this forever. Maybe they spend time becoming acquainted with the code of their host, plotting the best way to instate a full takeover without completely shutting them down. Maybe they have a Venom type situation. Maybe a large enough machine could have more than one mindflayer symbiote.
This also gives a much funner reading to the mindflayer’s chosen bodies. Not only are they made to fit the Mindflayer’s personal ideal and make them happy, but they’re probably an engineering marvel. It has to have an intact circulatory system to support blood flow, a “skeleton” so it can support the weight of its internals , and likely some sort of vessel for casting hell magic. Mindflayer’s aren’t just artists, but very intelligent inventors. Certainly makes sense why they would get so uppity about their bodies getting ruined, it probably takes a LOT of resources to build one. The Mindflayers might not be scrapheads nominally per se, but they probably spend a lot of time scavenging for parts to build these. Of course, they have to be more picky than Swordsmachines. Making a body that good requires quality equipment. Maybe the scrapheads think Mindflayers are stuck up. Maybe they think they’re the pinnacle of self invention, on par with THE Swordsmachine. Maybe some mindflayers are their own de facto sect scrapheads. Do they give each other advice like swordsmachines do? I love Mindflayers so much can you tell.

i hope this isn’t rude or anything, but is there a reason you decided not to sell the game on itchio as well?
I'll preface this by saying that I love itch.io and its ease of use, and I wish submitting to Steam was as easy as it is on itch.io!
To answer your question:
First, the more storefronts, the more work.
Putting it up for sale on itch.io means I have to support it on itch.io, and solve any issue that might crop up. There's also the admin aspect, which involves recording and reporting sales, calculating and paying taxes, etc.
Second, if I put it up for sale on itch.io and you purchase/run the game through the itch.io app, all would be fine.
BUT, if you were to purchase/launch the game outside of it, you would get this type of warning:

To prevent this, I'd have to sign the executable for Windows and macOS with a code signing certificate. From my cursory research, a Windows certificate costs a minimum of $115/year. For macOS, it's $99/year. And that's not even considering the actual implementation of code signing into the executable, which I have no idea how to do.
And what's even funnier is that even if I pay for a certificate, you might still get a warning screen, with your antivirus blocking the game anyway.
I'm not saying that I'll never consider selling on itch.io, but it's pretty far down in my list of priorities.
