Gonna copy-paste what I put into the Dual Process Theory YouTube community post, just in case anyone is blissfully ignorant of what's been going on in the Disney community:
The National Indian Child Welfare Association is an organization working to protect indigenous children and families through education and advocacy on child welfare and kinship rights. The original Lilo & Stitch is very relevant to the ICWA as it shows a US government agent attempting to separate an indigenous woman from her child ward to put her into the care of the state, something that has happened and continues to happen to indigenous children. Nani's "Aloha 'Oe" scene was added as a way to parallel their situation with the colonization of Hawai'i; the original song was written by the last Queen of Hawai'i as the United States forced her to cede her ancestral lands to them, which they then proceeded to colonize and commercialize. Nani is unable to find a job due to the tourism business taking over her land and Lilo is objectified enough to mirror the behavior (taking photos of white tourists rather than white tourists taking photos of her) and gets removed from her traditional dance because of a rich white or white-passing bully.

The original movie is subtle in its messaging but very clear if you know anything about Hawai'ian history, and the movie ending with 'ohana being kept and Nani being able to keep her sister, who she loves, because she now has a support system who can assist her in her own shortcomings is presented as a happy ending for everyone, and the ideal community that we should strive for.
The reboot, if you haven't seen it, has Nani (played by an actress whose mother is a Hawai'i realtor) literally look Lilo in the eye and tell her that 'ohana is a fantasy that can never be reality and that their parents abandoned them by dying. She AND the film see Lilo as a burden on her that is alleviated when she gives up custody and goes to the mainland for college. Why not have her go to a Hawai'ian college, or do classes online while staying with her sister? Because they didn't think about her actually caring for and loving her sister. They thought about how she should go pursue the generic American Dream, and this neurodivergent traumatized child should be passed off to someone else. They literally have an indigenous CPS agent tell her to do this. Her happy ending is giving up custody of her sister to a neighbor and going to a white-dominated university.
Even the non-indigenous characters get removed from the 'ohana, as Jumba is now solely evil and irredeemable and serves as the final antagonist instead of Gantu, which also provides the wonderful(/s) message that criminals cannot be redeemed and government agents are never wrong. The reboot looks at you and tells you that family means nothing and indigenous people should give up their children and culture and assimilate. The director literally said in an interview, "Some people get left behind."
All this to say, we're definitely donating to the NICWA today. They fight to protect the Indian Child Welfare Act that prevents indigenous children from being kidnapped away from their cultures and assist indigenous families in protecting and caring for each other.
Nobody gets left behind.
Happy Stitch Day, everyone donate to the NICWA out of apology that we let the reboot gain any kind of traction

The National Indian Child Welfare Association is an organization working to protect indigenous children and families through education and advocacy on child welfare and kinship rights. Nobody gets left behind.

a rant on mlvn & their shippers. inspired by this post i saw on twt

one thing i noticed about mlvn fans is that whenever bylers point out a fact that is objectively true, either confirmed by the cast/producers or is said explicitly in the show, the first thing they do is call us names and deny it.
as much as i dislike mlvn, i see how someone could ship it by seeing it closer to the way they're portrayed in the show; a sort of puppy crush turned into push-pull relationship whose sides need to be truthful to themselves & understand each other better to make it work. i could see the appeal in this type of dynamic and if this was how they actually saw mlvn.
however, my main problem with mlvns is that instead of seeing them for what they are, they portay them as an example of somehow perfect couple - they'd rather twist words said in the show than admit that they're a troubled pair. they romantize the version of mlvn in their head instead of looking deeper into the show & will make fun of you if you do that.
the "and i knew right then and there [...] that i loved you" fragment of mike's monologue has been proved to be a lie multiple times from multiple sources. they would have to retcon things established in season one for this to be true. mike never was shown to like her from the start, he just happened to be the most empathetic one from the party and only started liking/crushing on her later (depending on your interpretation). besides, the show quite literally makes fun of love at first sight & the writers said they don't believe in it as well. and in the said tiktok screenshot, it's not bylers theorizing even - it's literally what finn has said.
you could still believe that mike loves eleven while lying & exeggarating things in the monologue so he could save her. that's sort of romantic as well if you want to see it in that light - he's willing to be fake to save her, however eleven is mad at him for that reason, and then lesson of mlvn in next season would be that you don't need to lie in order to save your relationship. but wait, wouldn't that be a repeat of season 3 & 4 where it was shown not to work regardless? 🤔 besides, i could still see how someone could possibly defend this.
but no, they cling to that damn monologue like it's their bible. they themselves exeggerate their love instead of just looking at them like it's a regular relationship. they downplay their lies, their problems for the sake of shipping it. at this point i'm starting to wonder if they ship it cause they actually like their dynamic or do they ship it cause they like them together visually?
that's the biggest difference between bylers and mlvns for me. bylers look deeper into their negative side of their ship, pick apart their flaws yet this doesn't dismantle their relationship but support it. why won't mlvn do the same when they have a bunch of that going on their ship as well? if we see proof by analyzing byler fights, can't they do that instead of downplaying them? unless deep analysis won't help mlvn... which is possibly the case. that's why they choose to ignore it. but that's another topic. i think i'd still appreciate them more if they actually tried, though.
anyways, that'll be the end of my long rant. it's ironic to me how much byler shippers are called delusional because they dare to analyze the show when mlvn's whole ship is build upon false romantized image of it, don't you think?

hi college sports kingdon au thoughts
- ballerina mel and hockey player langdon
- they kinda run in the same crowd so they know of each other’s name, but all langdon really knows about her is that she’s good friends with his arch-nemesis santos, the co-captain of the women’s hockey team
- they don’t meet until shen introduces them at one of his house parties, and langdon’s shocked that this shy, petite girl with big glasses and soft hair is one of santos’ best friends
- she calls him frank (she thinks calling someone by their last name is disrespectful to their individuality) and shen expects him to correct her like he usually does (he thinks being called by your last name is a right of passage for male twenty-somethings) but instead he just kinda looks at her doe-eyed and talks in this weird gentle voice he’s never heard before
- after that, he just can’t get her out of his head. trips over his feet to say hi to her when they cross paths on campus, tries (and fails) to subtly ask santos how she is, pushes shen to throw another party, etc.
- she starts going to some of his games under the guise of supporting shen, and is enraptured by the way he glides on the ice
- he somehow always manages to catch her eye and wave excitedly until she shyly waves back
- the first time a brawl happens at one of his games he’s hesitant to jump in because he wants to come off as calm, cool, and collected, but the other team doesn’t really give him a chance to not get involved
- (and listen, mel finds violence in sports mostly unnecessary and just a way for men to stupidly show off, but she would be lying if sometimes she didn’t blush and kick her feet in bed when she remembers the way he’d come out of that fight, hair tussled and wet, a bruise forming around his jaw, and a bloody smirk that only grew as he continued to talk shit)
- langdon’s not great with words, there’s a reason he avoids english classes, but the way he describes how mel dances is akin to the most beautiful love poems. he doesn’t ballet, but god does he love watching her dance
- they’re adorably obnoxious when they finally get together, always cuddling close or holding hands tightly. she shows up to his games in full hockey fan gear (for their april fools game she shows up in shen’s jersey and laughs her ass off when langdon nearly faints from disgust), and he sits in the back of the ballet studio watching her practice with stars in his eyes
- langdon’s got a lifetime of nicknames and pet names for mel (his favorites being: mellie, my girl, and babe). mel finds herself cringing everytime she attempts to use a pet name so she just sticks with frank, which still feels special considering no one else calls him that
#kingdon#melfrank#mel king#frank langdon#melangdon#langdonmel#sorry i also know nothing about ballet and hockey if you couldn’t already tell#probably not the last you will hear from me about this au

I currently live just outside that area (still on the screenshot, just... That big road at the far east, towards the top, that has an absolutely massive kink in it, just outside the red circle? That's pretty much where I live.
We've got some absolutely gorgeous countryside, pretty much all round. It rains a lot, so it's REALLY green.
Our fabulously rainy, and thus damp climate is really awesome for spinning cotton - keeps the dust down, and the fibres supple enough they won't snap. The industrial revolution was really A Thing round here. Mills everywhere.
They're mostly closed down now, converted into flats, or shops, offices. But we do enjoy some of the last bastions of the British fabric industry being around here. I highly recommend a trip to Immanuel's Fabric in Burnley, if you're a sewist. Never the same stuff twice, and they have a massive room that's £1/metre. (Cash or PayPal only, no card payments. And it's not particularly wheelchair friendly - there's steps in, and some very narrow bits in the £1 room. But the staff are always amazing - help me in, grab whatever I need, walk me and my haul back to the car...)
God, there has to be something more than fabric... And the chemical factories made to support the cotton factories...
That said, if the Industrial Revolution is your thing, there's still a working museum/mill south of Manchester. Quarry Bank Mill - I very much enjoyed it, both times I've been.
Pendle Witches? That's a particularly *fun* part of our history. Probably a lot less sci-fi than Doctor Who made it out to be.
Accrington bricks? Those bright red fuckers that are hard as iron and WILL wreck your drill bits if you're unlucky enough to find one in your wall? Well, that's because there is literally iron in them. And they're made within that red circle. (They're also called Nori bricks, because the whoever made the first stamp for them sort of forgot it has to be done in mirror, so it would be the right way round when the bricks are stamped. They were supposed to say "iron". Now they're stamped with Nori on purpose, because why mess with what works?
Totally doesn't make us look like illiterate idiots at all...
Ooh, speaking of ancient typos, there is a place south of Manchester called Altrincham. The engraver who made ye olde "welcome to" sign managed to put a C instead of a G. It's pronounced "alt-ring-um". The OG pronunciation stuck around, but the typo also stuck.
Wheeling back to Accrington and its bricks, one of Accy's other claims to fame is probably the best-known of the "pals" divisions from WWI - definitely the best reason it shouldn't have happened:
If you don't know, when the army was recruiting for the Great War, in a moment of genius they decreed that men from the same town would fight together. That way they already had the camaraderie to help them stick together and have each other's backs.
It worked. Right up until the entirety of Accrington's men were lost at the Somme.
Weirdly, they stopped doing Pals battalions after that.
(there's another example, but it's from way outside the circle, so... not covering it here)
Anyway, the reason I circled back to the bricks is that there is a specific memorial to the Accrington Pals in the Somme. You might have guessed by now, but it's made of Nori bricks.
I didn't manage to find it, despite having a decent map (pre sat nav), but I'm assured it does in fact exist.
Accy is also bloody ancient - it's listed in the Domesday Book. Not quite as big as it is now, but it's there.
Um... There must be more.
(but yeah, the football thing pretty much came about because of the mills - gave people something to do other than work and drink. That's why it's so prevalent up here.)
HEY
HEY YOU!
DO YOU LIVE IN THIS AREA???

Tell me about it! BRAG IT! DRAG IT! ANYTHING (that isnt football)! I'm begging ( T∀T)°°

https://www.svt.se/sport/fotboll/magdalena-eriksson-om-den-standiga-pressen-tappar-sjalvfortroende
We will get Magda tonight at half time
Magdalena Eriksson about the constant pressure: "Losing self-confidence"
Constant pressure and a desire to always be on top.
For SVT Sport, Magdalena Eriksson talks about how she handles the press – and the support from Pernille Harder.
– I have self-confidence that goes up and down, says Eriksson.
Another championship awaits Magdalena Eriksson and Blgult. In just over a week, the European Championship journey begins with a match against Denmark.
Eriksson has been a regular in the Swedish starting eleven and is also a key player in the national team and in the big club Bayern Munich.
With that, the pressure – the constant pressure – will also be at its peak. One mistake could be devastating.
– Pressure means that someone believes in you, so in a way it is a privilege. It is a fight you wrestle with every day. We want to do well. It can feel heavy that sometimes you can't live up to what you have set out to do, says Magdalena Eriksson.
Paying tribute to Harder: "Been there"
The 31-year-old says she and her fiancée, Denmark's star striker Pernille Harder, support each other. Eriksson believes Harder's support has meant an incredible amount.
– She has been there to support me and make me think correctly. What is important instead of talking down to myself, says the vice-captain.
The entire report with Magdalena Eriksson can be seen during the halftime break.

love triangle with komaru & toko

pairing: komaru naegi x gn!reader x toko fukawa
tags: supportive friendship between the girls, friendly romantic rivalry, friends to lovers, hint at possible polyamory

toko might act like she only cares about you and winning your heart, but secretly, she still views komaru as a friend, instead of a rival!
toko is quick to reveal not only her feelings to you, but to tell you that komaru likes you as well, trying to badmouth her a little, to seem better than her!
but the second you agree or disagree with her, toko breaks, revealing that she truly does care for komaru! and if you dared to agree with her about anything bad she said about komaru, toko loses interest in you immediately!
komaru is quite a lot better at flirting with you than toko! she always talks highly about her friend, even if this only raises toko's chances of winning you over. still, komaru doesn't mind that!
though komaru is relatively average, so it's not like she's a natural at flirting! she can drop a smooth line or two, but the rest is awkward, yet in an endearing way!
komaru and toko tell each other everything that happens between you and them! there are no secrets and if you ever treat one of them poorly, you'll have to deal with the other one…
despite the two girls fighting for your love, it's clear that there's only one option here; you have to date both of them! there's no way komaru would be okay with dating you, while you reject toko!
so either you date both of the girls or neither of them!

PLEASE STOP HARASSING DECK NINE DEVS AND LIS PLAYERS WHO DON'T AGREE WITH YOU.
Death threats are not okay.
Telling people to kill themselves is not okay.
Harassing people over fictional ships is not okay.
Harassing people over their opinion of a game is not okay.
Harassing already overstressed, overworked employees is not okay. ESPECIALLY since it's been documented they've been working under discriminatory and predatory management, been through multiple crunches, and have an unidentified neo-Nazi on their team who management did not properly address and fire.
You can still be critical of a game and not harass the people who made it. Hell, you can absolutely hate a game and still be respectful to the people who made it. I'm sure the creators are far more likely to listen to the fans if we give constructive criticism than if we irresponsibly and cruelly send threats.
I know most people who see this haven't sent hate, and to those people: this post isn't about you. I massively respect you for maintaining your rationality and empathy. But for those who have sent hate or are thinking of doing so, please reconsider. Sending hate isn't going to change anything; it'll only break the fandom even further apart and stress out overworked employees. If you're going to be mad, be mad at the higher-ups at Square Enix for turning the franchise into a cash cow and at the upper management at Deck Nine for overworking and alienating their employees. (Also be mad at that 1 neo-Nazi because seriously, WTF!?)
But please, even to the worst of the worst, do not send death threats or harass people.
#in other news instead of fighting each other i think pricefielders grahamfielders marshfielders and all other shippers should come together#to say that de did a major disservice to their characters#and advocate for better writing and representation and working conditions in their next game#because i seriously feel bad for the employees who received hate after years of trying to create a good game#while dealing with awful working conditions and a discriminatory work environment#also this isn't about lis but I just have to say it:#i am so so sorry to all my fellow americans out there#i will continue to post LGBTQIA+ content here#and be supportive of poc and immigrants (legal and undocumented) and women and everyone else too#the upper class may have failed us but we will not succumb to hate#not incorrect quotes

maybe if i just put these screenshots together youll understand why i think their relationship just Works so well as it pertains to the characters and themes of S4 in general
neither of them know what theyre doing, but theyre figuring it out Together. the old ways are dead. and together theyll build a new future thats worth fighting for
#twdg#violentine#clems “i dont know” paired with violets “lets figure it out together”. screaming crying throwing up#clem never knew what she was doing!! she was just trying her best!! and now shes tired as SHIT!!! she wants a break 😭!!!#vi helps take that weight off by supporting her as much as she does (which is A LOT!! and clem supports her in return. they grow together)#that bit in the woods where instead of getting grossed out by the guts vi crouches down to ajs level and keeps the situation calm#and she looks up to clem and gives her a little smile. and clem just relaxes and smiles back !! DO YOU UNDERSTAND !!!#clem being anxious about her reaction. violet putting her at ease. clem getting to Relax for 2 seconds. they help each other CHILL 😭#ALSO why their walk home talking about ericson and renaming it and imagining what they could add to it is just so good narratively#they turned that prison into their HOME!! a place worth fighting for!!!#tenn wanting to help rebuild. vi saying Everyone will :') its a home for ALL OF THEM 😭 its about the COMMUNITY !!!#this is also why i think the friends route still works but theres just even more Juice with the romance. even ignoring minnie#violets “you better not disappear on me”. friended clems “ok” to romanced clems “i promise”#in a season about building a home and a family that second one just hits harder you know? and like above with the learning to dance#i just feel like their romantic relationship specifically fits into the overall themes of the game the strongest and elevates it#me talking at the wall (tumblr drafts)#all of my friends who have played twdg are too normie so i gotta make posts like this instead. or i'll die#wont somebody analyze narrative with me#it speaks

favourite stupid relationship dynamic: idiots who would immediately protect and defend the other but never themself
#still thinking about how lxl just takes whatever life throws at them without fighting back (esp in the lxl movie)#so it was up to the other (mainly yujiro) to do the protecting (of aizo) since he was clearly not going to do anything about it#poor yujiro never fought back against the longleg/shortleg until aizo was brought up… no sense of self-preservation with that one#‘you can mess with me but not my bf!!!!!’ kind of energy#ig aizo did kind of defend yujiro in the [redacted] anime ep 4 nonsense and pointless scandal scene but that’s about it…#give aizo more chances to play the hero for his cute bf!!!!! the princess carry wasn’t enough!!!!#though. ngl it’s kinda funny how aizo’s always portrayed as the husband and yujiro the wife in their r/s (see: meoto)#but yujiro is always the one fighting for aizo’s honour. l&k novel (i think; still havent read it). lxl movie. chizu hallway scene (kind of)#and even in honeypre he got aizo the werewolf costume (instead of the pumpkin). he was the one who gave aizo a gift on white day (like a bf)#he even turned aizo into a worried wife when he (the bumbling husband) wandered out till late in kyoto to look for a *phone strap*#hm. well. im not sure what the point im trying to make is other than the fact that lxl are idiots for each other ig#they may be really really stupid but they love(?) and support each other (in a sense)… two menaces in a pod.#they should just get married (again)#though speaking of lxl marriage remember when that music magazine spread misinfo about how meoto was set in the sengoku era#and everyone believed it? the mv sure shocked everyone in more ways than one lmaooooooo#lxl twt was on fire that day. ‘horns??? a fantasy setting????? what happened to the sengoku era?????’ it was so funny you h a d to be there#but. hm. we’ve had quite a lxl content drought… disregarding the [redacted] mv they havent been seen in 4 months#throwing out a guess that they’ll get a new song for a winter comiket cd or sth. idk#sure hope that lxl do not get a new song or mv before kimikawaii release though bc that’d be unfairrrrrrrrr

Today, my classmates mocked me because I said that I didn't want to marry anyone. I never said I was aromantic, I never suggest that I'm lesbian or bi or whatever lgbt group those same people shat on. I only said that I wouldn't want to get married and they mocked me for it. They made gross comments at me; listing boys for me to date, saying that they'll force their love on me, make me love, that I haven't found the right person. I shouldn't have let it affect me but it still hurt, I was so mad and upset, I had to take a break outside. They basically bullied me for not being apart of their norms, for being someone different from them and one that they couldn't understand.
To any non aromantic person in the lgbt who tries to invalidate aros by saying they aren't oppressed. Stfu. We are experiencing a lot of experiences similar to yours; closeting ourselves, isolation, social stigma, bullying for our identities. Cishet alloromantics aren't our bloody friends or allies, their the exact opposite and they also hate you too. Aromanticism is queer, aromanticism belongs in the community. And stories like these are the reason why.
#aromantic#aro#queer#lgbt#lgbt community#fuck anyone who thinks we dont belong here we absolutely do#we are all on the same boat here#lets support instead of fighting with each other

Im not looking to pick a fight here I just want to express something.
I see a lot of posts with a declaration like "this is for physically disabled people only, dont make this about mental health, neurodivergents dont interact". And it just doesnt sit well with me.
It could be that Im not seeing what this is a reaction to.
Bodies and brains arent separate. Our bodyminds are one big set of feedback loops.
Firstly brains are physical organs. We dont know exactly how to see thoughts on a scanner but theyre somehow made of neurons and electricity and brain stuff. Maybe even brain stuff that we cant currently detect or measure. But it is physical because what else could it be? We're made out of meat.
Second. Trauma is stored in the body. Anxiety partly is stored in muscle tension. Mental illness and neurodivergence manifests physically. In headaches and stimming and tension and bad sleep, fatigue, impaired executive function, skin picking and handwashing and fine motor skills and likely many other things I dont have as much knowledge of.
And physical disabilities affect the mind too. Frustration, anger, helplessness, distress, pain, loneliness, fatigue, brain fog. Trauma. Likely other things I have less knowledge of.
And yes some disabilities are more accepted and/or accommodated. We all have different experiences and I think we like to think other people have it easier, if only I was disabled this other way Id have my needs better fulfilled.
And in some cases theres truth to it. We all have different experiences and no one should talk over anyone else about their own lives.
And, we all live in an ableist society that isnt set up for us and we all struggle in different ways to different degrees. We're also not all that different.
Like if one person is talking about how they cant go to the shops because they dont have the mobility necessary, and someone with agoraphobia chimes in and says I also hate that I cant go shopping, congratulations you have something in common to talk about. The source of your difficulties and what would allow you to negate or manage those barriers are very different, but you have the same struggle.
#more to say but thats all i have focus for rn#please dont fight#im asking for understanding or at least respect and open minds#we are not each others enemies#were not warring factions#we all have the most to gain by cooperating and the most to lose fighting about who has it worse#instead of fighting for rights and supports and sharing information and advocacy tips and helping each other#and yes we all have variations of internalized ableism to work on#the best way to do that is to listen to other experiences and share your own experiences and be patient with each other#its like queer infighting over whose the most oppressed: they want us all to be perisex cis het allo. theres no more acceptable queerness#and they want us to be abled or out of sight out of mind. theres no fully culturally acceptable way to disabled.#and in both cases/ in all of kyriarchal oppression the answer is to work together and help each other#instead of fighting over scraps of acceptance we fight for our rights#were not free till were all free#mine

Help I'm being held hostage by fem!Nie Mingjue AU
#mdzs#nie mingjue#i just think. it'd be sooo fascinating bc it could indirectly affect so many things#like. not in a big picture way#but in the small things#how would NMJ as a woman be perceived? how would she have survived in the early days after her dad's death?#we know nothing about Nie women cultivators#but since their technique is known to Really Mess The Cultivator Up#i can kind of imagine that women are discouraged from pursuing training beyond the basics#bc their role would've been to support the clan in ways other than fighting/achieving high cultivation#so like. NMJ's role as daughter of the sect leader would've been to support her younger brother and make a beneficial marriage alliance#except her dad died a horrible death when she was a teen and her brother was a literal child. and someone had to keep the sect together.#(she'd look at the raging shell of a man her father became just before the end; she'd see her baby brother in his place)#and... would NHS be able to avoid his responsibilities for so long if he had an older sister instead of a brother?#would NMJ still be a front line commander in the Sunshot Campaign? i like to think she would but idk the logistics#and if NMJ had a diminished front line role would she still have met Meng Yao/JGY?#also. LXC would have a Very Different relationship with her if they're still in each other's orbits#bc LXC would be baffled by the concept of being Friends with a woman#the fem!nmj agenda

oh boy i have to write a 5-6 page autobiography about my Family Experience. Bro my family is the kind of white that, when they came to the US, absolutely obliterated their own cultural background in order to assimilate. It's like if you took a 1950s era recipe for hot dogs in gelatin and turned that into a family philosophy. There's legitimately nothing there. On top of that no one lives within 500 miles of each other and we're all rather poor so no one sees anyone basically ever.
#i mean i'm going to talk about these things bc i have nothing else but.#it doesn't have much to do with proving myself as a Potentially Good Leader lmao#my values have been shaped most by 1. people i've met (not blood) and 2. politics and world events#imo the whole American Individualism thing has really fucked my miserable little tribe over#instead of banding together and supporting each other everyone moves away and never speaks#I'm pretty envious of people with big close families even if they do fight constantly#text posts

On this day last year, my family faced a choice no one should ever have to make: stay in their home in Gaza and risk death or flee south, clinging to the slim hope of finding safety. Spoiler alert: there was no “right” answer. In Gaza, there never is. Families like mine would run from areas labeled dangerous, only to be bombed in so-called ‘humanitarian’ zones. Because in Gaza, no place is truly safe.
Each time they evacuated, they had the same gut-wrenching, desperate conversations on repeat: “Should we stay or go? Where would we even go? Do we send the women and children first, or do we all stick together?” Imagine trying to make life-and-death decisions with bombs falling around you.
One evening, a family friend offered them shelter, hoping the madness would calm down in a few days. My brothers agreed to move everyone there the next morning. But the bombs beat them to it. Just hours after that phone call, Israeli airstrikes hit our friend’s house. Thirty-five people, including children, gone. They never got a chance to move, and instead, they grieved for the lives lost.
They ran to Khan Younis, only for tragedy to follow. In November 2023, Israeli bombs hit my cousin’s house. I lost three cousins, their wives, and their children. It was chaos. Pieces of people scattered everywhere. A small child’s body lay unrecognizable until my cousin realized it was her son, Odi. His head was almost gone, but she knew him. She knew him by the shape of his teeth, his little toes. That’s the kind of loss no mother should ever face.
Since then, my family has moved over 50 times, haunted by the same questions: Where can they go next? How can they afford to survive another evacuation? Will they even manage to set up another flimsy tent?
And speaking of tents, imagine trying to live in one with your children. Picture makeshift cesspits serving as toilets, which fill up in a few weeks, forcing them to dig another. Comfort? Safety? Those words mean nothing. How do you sleep at night when your ‘home’ is a tent and your bathroom is a hole in the ground?
Talking about my family and Gaza breaks me, yet it also brings me a strange comfort. I refuse to let their stories fade. Their memories are beacons in the darkness, bittersweet reminders of joy and sorrow.
My family needs urgent help to survive this ongoing nightmare. Please, donate if you can. Share our story with your friends and family. Help us keep fighting, keep surviving.
