okay so like, now that the Tiktok ban is happening basically for sure, I would really like to nurture this space I've abandoned and bring all my new interests that I've gained since I was last a regular user on this site lol. So if anyone posts the following, pls interact!
-Arcane -Julien Solomita (howdy dinks) -Sapphic books/LGBTQ+ books -Video games (Farm sims, coop games, life sims, survival crafting, horror) -small businesses with pink/brightly colored ecclectic products, i.e. funky earrings or clothing or house decor. Same goes for goth versions of the same things hehe -crochet!! mostly patterns cuz I wanna learn new things to make hehe -TV shows (Yellowjackets, Squid Game, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, etc.) -Sapphic media! (photography, poetry, shows, movies, books, art, MUSIC, etc.) That's all I can think of off the top of my head that I feel like my dash is lacking. I just wanna find cool people and content to make me wanna come here again lolol. ty!

Cat Clean Ocean Preview
This is very obviously a Loddlenaut clone. In fact, all this dev's games are clones of other, better games as far as I can tell. Here, it's like they thought the way to be Legally Distinct was to have worse, over-complicated controls and a much duller, slower start to the game. They haven't brought any new ideas to the concept, either (making the protagonist a cat doesn't count). At least they seem to make their own art etc, even if they design aesthetic isn't different.

I need a survival crafting game where every non-starting biome is hostile to the player character's survival, but for really stupid reasons. None of this "oh, it's too hot, oh, there's no air" stuff – give me a biome where I need to craft a reinforced umbrella to avoid being randomly killed by periodic rains of eight-pound bullfrogs.

LET ME MAKE THEM SIT NEXT TO EACH OTHER!!!
#I crafted the sofa for the first time#nu carnival#first I felt that the cabin feature was bit... lukewarm i guess#but I do enjoy seeing them and their giant heads there#Unlocled third room just so all my faves can hang around#although Edmond only has like table and Morvays bed as of now...#...which other characters asife from Morvay and Eiden apparently cant use....#but yknow he will survive#I think#this is quickly turning to some kind of survive the cabin situation#I probably would've made prison in Club Penguin if the puffles couldn't go through the furniture#actually this game shouldn't remind me of Club Penguin I think

"Survival" game: Press X to destroy that tree bare-handed. Now you have Wood, press Enter to access your inventory and turn Wood into a Crafting Table. Now press E on your Crafting Table and use Coal and Iron to make a Steam Engine.
#minecraft and its consequences etc. etc.#I just think that if you're managing industrial supply chains 15 minutes into the game you shouldn't call it a 'survival' game#and 'crafting tables' shouldn't be fucking alchemy#cosas mias

I've been trying to finalize this game btw, its been a lot longer of a road than I had ever anticipated.
This was just supposed to be a single month project... And then 5 months later, still not done..
Not sure exactly how to feel about this, we shall see once it is completed and I get some more people to play it.
I also recently reworked how the buildings are drawn giving them more definition and detail as I work on the building system. I'll add a little clip below showing that and if you thinks its good please leave a note.
There is still more to do, as I need to actually place the walls around the floors and other internal things for the buildings. One big issue is door placement and identification.
I think the biggest hurdle I have been running into has been the token limit in pico-8 and trying to minimize the amount of tokens I am using. It does very much feel like a interesting lost art from back in the cartridge days. Where you had limited space for things, I have gone threw a bunch of creative spurts on ways to minimize the tokens.
Its definitely an interesting challenge, and surprising how much i am fitting in a single pico-8 cartridge. I have been at the token limits for a while now. I have exceeded the compression limit a couple times as well, though I have a good amount of comments still taking up space, so not fully at that limit.
I feel like this needs to be done, its weird because there is more to do and I cannot wait to get to that point, and of course a laundry list of things to do. There has been some slowing down of work though. As the limits are reached, and I run out of ideas for a short time.
Its amazing though that you can just give your brain time to work on the problem and when you are not paying attention you'll suddenly get a new idea to try. And then that will push things forward again.
The unfortunate thing about our society is that we do not accommodate this process. We tend to try and force the creativity or solutions. The human brain is a capable machine that requires good amounts of food, sleep, distractions, and more in order to come up with solutions.

If you have the same sickness as me and like survival crafting games please go try out abiotic factor it's half life 1 twisted into valheim and it's so fucking good.
I particularly love that the first thing you do is create a hapless scientist to suffer through a metaphysical nightmare apocalypse.
There's also a pooping minigame where you time your button presses to "ease passage" in a fable style back and forth meter. You don't just flush the toilets. You use them. The next step forward in immersive gaming has arrived.
#abiotic factor#video games#survival crafting#it's also multiplayer if that's your bag but solo is still very good

I was thinking about it today and there is enough similarity between The King and Siffrin for something. I don't know what but there is something.
#the toucan squawks#isat#in stars and time#They're both from The Country of course#But also they both have rather similar reasons between their use of Time Craft#The King was afraid of losing the place and people he loved so dearly again and so he wanted to freeze it all so I couldn't happen again.#And Siffrin was afraid of loosing their family and so made a wish that he wouldn't have to face the loss of the people close to him again#There is something here#Like I think that Siffrin and The King could have switched places very easily#And also the fact that Siffrin only survived because they have people who love him#I feel like TheKing might have been a very lonely person before his antics/post Countryn't considering the lack of mention of anything/one#Near him or anyone he loved. I think he was too scared of the loss that comes with love and closeness and chose isolation which lead to the#Events of the game#I think that if The King had friends and people close to him then things would have worked very differently#In fact I think if he did have that then maybe Siffrin would have done something drastic instead#It's just Argh y'know#STARS it's such a good game

I hate trying to remember something with the vaguest details. Keywords like “the game had a dog in it” were hard enough before google became beyond useless and into hostile territory
#ghost posts#trying to remember a free browser game I played#survive on an island and slowly experiment and learn craft recipes#and it’s guaranteed you die multiple times but you keep the recipes so you survive longer each time#i remember water filtration and tourniquets#and being chased by rats#it was a pixel-y game#was not happy but man I was so determined to survive#finally started surviving the rats. then got eaten by a wolf#did at least remember castaway 2 that was a fun one

it's sorta grimly funny to me that green hell was being touted as like "better than the forest" or at least like a sucessor to it given the very specific thing those two games have in common :l
#my post#at LEAST at LEAST green hell humanised them a BIT more but fucking christ#no more indigenous people as enemies in fucking survival crafting games just go do literally anything else already

animal jam is a lot more fun when you're rich
#seriously notp is making me RICH on ajpw#i can get like. one corruption orb per hour of playing dungeons. the super sweets prizes?? got an alpha after like 5 rounds. got soo many#rares from that too.....#and now i'm like. oh i want to play as a dragon? don't have to wait two weeks to save the sapphires! i can buy it now!!#looking for a cool specific piece of clothing for my outfit? i can just buy it right now!! without worrying about the price!!!#i'm seriously considering buying an alpha. just like. snooping on explorer looking at the different wizard hats for when i sell mines#(i'm not That rich lol)#kind of disappointing anyways. like. it's easy to grind this stuff when you're not a kid but it must take so long for kids to do this!!#most of the people in this game get rich by paying money!! and like#i was always a nm on classic and while they are definitely more pay to play it was like. you could have so much fun and still be poor#play wild it's like. you do get all these features but so much of it is focused on Buying. like the only non purchase stuff i can think of#is crafting ???? and the phantom dungeons.. and the minigames. and talking to people i guess.#but like honestlyyy people only really care about the items and getting items and what items are coming out next month?? and what animals??#what new effects can i get for my pets for my items??? AUGHHHHHHHHHHHH#idk. idk. i know animal jam is far past its glory days and it needs to do this to survive. and i definitely do not want this game to die.#but it is really going full capitalism mode. and i think the content and the players and the devs are really suffering from that. idk.#jamblr#i do really enjoy doing the nonogram puzzles and i absolutely love the dungeons. i'm glad they give me stuff to sell. but man. i kind of ju#t wish it wasn't so much like this yknow#ramblings#bangers
