As an XY enjoyer, I was holding out hope for new Kalos games rather than Unova remakes. And Apparently I was right to do so! Now with the new game announcement, it means some things to me and I have predictions/thoughts.

(more under the cut in case.... future spoilers)

1. It seems like it's set in the modern day, potentially not long before or after the originals. So We probably get to see more Sycamore. Which. Yes please. Gimme. I would like to see my boy.

2. If it's set not long after the originals, Potentially a Lysandre return. Or mention. There's no way he's DEAD dead. So they better do him justice. He got flubbed in the original games.

3. MORE KALOS LORE! FINALLY! 11/12 YEARS (when Legends ZA releases) AFTER XY PROPER!

4. The cancelled event Pokémon, AZ's Floette, might ACTUALLY be obtainable this time around! (Which also means the return of event mythicals like Volcanion, Hoopa, and Diancie)

4.5 which also means if you have Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde from either the original games or the shinies from Go, USUM Ultra Wormholes, or SWSH Dynamax Adventures, they can probably be brought over!

5. Zygarde might be the big bad you have to defeat this time around, using Xerneas and Yveltal to stop them. Probably controlled by someone like Xerosic. (think like Ultra Necrozma in USUM, or Eternatus in SW/SH)

5.5 that being said, Xerneas and Yveltal may get new powered up forms (potentially Megas) as a boost to calm the rampaging Zygarde

6. Sycamore actually participates in Story Events with the player. Because he might feel bad for asking so much of them the first time. (It's a stretch but a Sycamore lover can dream. I want to see him be a badass like in the anime. Give him his Garchomp)

7. Team Flare might still be kicking around, though subdued a bit depending on how long after the originals it's been. Maybe some new faces in there. Malva is probably the one running things with Lysandre being MIA.

8. It might be revealed that Kalos and Paldea did have beef in the past, which is where Paldea's crater came from. Bringing Paldean pokemon into Kalos may strike up new dialogue. (If paldean 'mons can be transferred over, that is. If that's the case though Terapagos, Ogerpon, and the Sandwich Dragons are going to be nerfed. HARD. Especially the small Terastal Turtle.) (i wanna see Sycamore's reaction to a Clodsire or Terapagos. He'd love the little guys.)

9. New megas, but that's kinda obvious. I'm thinking some i want to see are going to be Rapidash, Talonflame, and the original Box Art Legends.

10. It may be revealed that Sycamore and Lysandre did have a little fling, if not a full on relationship before the weapon incident. They gave us Brassius and Hassel in SV. And implied one with ORAS Maxie and Archie. You know what we want, Gamefreak.

(bonus) 11. A Paldean character might appear for a side quest.

My early-on predictions for the starter pokes from SW/SH: the one who thinks it would be hilarious to set your pants on fire with a scorching kick to the butt, the one who just wants to play fetch with its little wood flute (I assumed it would be for musical purposes at the time), and the one who keeps thinking about being made to battle its friends for no good reason.

Pokemon: The 1/256 Glitch is good actually.

Yup. It happened. I played Pokemon Crystal Clear and turned into a Gen Wunner...

Okay, look, the amount of moves that should have 100 accuracy is 0. If an attack is a guaranteed hit unless the attacker literally has sand in their eyes, not only is that just a little silly (You're telling me these creatures can't dodge!?) but it also makes the game predictable, which isn't great for an RPG. Sure, there's crits, and those help, but allowing for things to backfire for the attacker would also be greatly appreciated.

Giving any attack (except for Swift, Areal Ace, etc, moves that bypass Accuracy Rolls) a chance to miss means that things could backfire at any moment. This could cause great shake-ups (And make the games a bit more challenging) for the Pokemon that goes second.

Yes: Missing an attack that would have won the match is frustrating, but you know what else is frustrating? Knowing you're definitely fucked. Unfortunately, I can't exactly use the "Unless the attacker literally has sand in their eyes" line again, but I can't really think of a better way to describe how silly it is that the Monsters can't just dodge.

The newest version of the Friendship mechanic as seen in Let's Go and Sw/Sh allowed for some leeway in this regard by increasing the Dodge chance of Pokemon with High Friendship... But it also gave increased Crit Rate, and a chance for Once More (1 HP From a Fatal Hit) among probably some other effects I can't remember. And while this does remove the scenario where you can be "Definitely fucked" as there's always a chance to dodge or survive if Frendship is high, this is only beneficial to the player, and it's still impossible for things to go wrong (And is unapplicable in PvP besides)

Okay, I realize at this point that I've pointed out that this makes it so that things can go wrong and make you miss, which may make the game harder, but I don't think I've done a good job explaining why that's a good thing.

If a good Type-matchup is not a guaranteed victory, it encourages the use of varied movesets to up defensive and offensive capabilities for Pokemon with neutral or bad matchups. (Even in Switch Mode)

If victory in general isn't guaranteed, neither is loss. A loss could at that point be seen simply as bad luck and discourage grinding as a solution.

Because basically any attack could miss at any time, the Idea that, Quote: "A lower Level Pokemon could defeat a Higher Leveled one with the right Type Matchup" is a lot more applicable, and believable, and helps discourage grinding as an overall solution to every problem.

Since each chapter are mirrors of each other, this reinforces the fact that NK is sure to go to SH’s room, since the events of c35 are about to repeat itself in c70

We can now see a new painting is in order: back in chapter 36, NK couldn’t do a painting as SW had interrupted them. Prior to that, SH got annoyed that NK wouldn’t sit near him, hence, why the beej happened

If this prediction is true, then we have to guess which scene NK will paint next. We never get to actually see his painting in c36

I can’t say for sure which scene he was drawing here, but I’m guessing it was the one in the pavilion, as the outlines are similar if you read c41:

NK had painted every smexy time they have done except for the wedding night, and THAT, is what’s sure to be done in the new painting. But now the new question is, which one of the scenes in chapter 20-21 will NK paint?

Judging from the way NK kept blushing the entire time in c69, I can see that he’ll paint a mixture of c20-21 and c58, and the scenes that affected him the most were the confession parts from c58, and this particular hallucination NK had in c21

i predict if we do get sinnoh or johto (lol) remakes, they're going to look just like sw/sh and yet y'all will still impulse buy them, proceeding to continue to let nintendo think y'all like the games how they are.

y'all said you weren't going to buy sw/sh due to how shitty it looked and how horrible it was in comparison to botw, but y'all still bought them. you still bought the games y'all said you weren't going to buy. Congrats, you just told nintendo you LIKED how the games are, because they certainly aren't going to look at all y'all's individual comments and backlashes and are instead going to look at the money revenue they've earned.

bw/bw2 didn't sell well, despite how incredibly hard they worked on the story and ect, so they turned around and made gen 6-- something everyone (ive seen, anyway) hates with a passion. bw/bw2 got overlooked until fairly recently, despite how genuinely nice the story, music, characters, and setting is.

if you don't like the multi-billion dollar company's decisions with your franchise-- don't buy the mainline games produced by (obvs) shitty game developers. stocks speak louder to them than your voices, certainly with their top-selling franchise.

so, i predict if even the sinnoh // johto remakes are absolutely wanted, they're still going to look like shit unless given to like,, the battle revolution company.

Pokemon SW/SH Spoilers and Predictions Below the Cut!

Been thinking about the storyline in the latest pokemon game and a lot of people are saying its kinda lackluster but holds potential, and yeah I gotta kinda agree. But it’s the post-game plot that’s got me thinking, and if they do what they did last gen and pull an ULTRA version or SW/SH 2 type of dead, here’s how I think it would go

the sword and shield weirdos are gonna be playing a much bigger role as the would-be heirs to the throne of Galar

Kinda like how Necrozma and the other UBs took more of a center stage in USUM

idk, maybe they use Rose and Oleana as stepping stones to build an army to take over the region and reestablish their throne or some shitmaybe they somehow take Dynamaxing away from everyone else to do so

then the actual conflict would be tradition vs development, sovereignty over democracy. Could even mix in some real world history and say how Galar used to be the mightiest empire in the world, but it's now a minor player and they wanna reconquer Unova and other countries again

Pokémon SW/SH - Ranked Series 2

So, I finally made Master Ball rank a few nights ago. I ran full Trick Room with both Dusclops and Hatterene as my setters. My first match was against someone renting the Dallas Regional Champion team.

I fully expected to lose. That's a pretty hyper-offensive team and I didn't have any proper way to counter it. Fortunately for me, I correctly predicted that they'd think I'd set Trick Toom on Turn 1 with Dusclops. Their Jellicent very kindly got it up for me, and I burned their Duraludon while also getting a nice chunk of damage on Jellicent.

Turn 2 I managed to outplay them again! I figured they'd try to reset Trick Room with Jellicent, and I was right. I was able to use Dusclops to get it back on the field.

I don't know if I would have been so lucky if it had been any of the players who actually created the Dallas Regional team. It was a pretty cool experience, and a nice workout on reading my opponent's strategy.

Prediction: seeing the viral success of one of their new Pokémon, Nintendo's E3 presentation is just several hours of a flock of wooloo in a field, interacting with each other, other Pokémon, and humans. It ends with a bunch rhythmically jumping the fence and a pan out to the female Galas trainer in bed, covers up to her chin and visibly in the process of relaxing. The crowd goes wild. Wooloo becomes the Sw/Sh mascot, early enough to include its importance into the game.

prediction: nintendo reveals they’ve been breeding a new type of sheep since the last pokémon game was released. it’s wooloo. it’s small, very round, and has the intelligence of a cat. it automatically sheds its wool in summer and thus requires minimal grooming (but maximum love). every petting zoo gets a few. they’re smash hits, especially with children, who love teaching them tricks like “rollout” (a somersault) and “hyperbeam” (hyperbeam). a wooloo wins the 2020 USA election and slashes the military budget by 101%. every other country follows suit, and world peace is achieved within 3 weeks

Nintendo E3 Direct 2019: Reaction

I decided, for the second year in a row, to write my reactions to this years E3 Direct for all of y’all. Before the show starts, a couple predictions/guesses:

Obviously, we’re gonna get Smash Fighter Pack 2. I doubt it’s gonna be Banjo-Kazooie, just because that seems a bit too “Grinch-Leak”-esque to be realistic, if you know what I mean. That reveal will probably be either the first or last thing in the direct.

I imagine, like everyone else, we’re gonna be seeing a fair amount of Animal Crossing, just because there aren’t many other huge upcoming games we haven’t gotten exclusive directs about.

That said, we’ll probably learn a couple more things about Super Mario Maker 2, and maybe even Pokemon Sword and Shield. Nothing too huge, or game-changing, but a few additional details and maybe some later update stuff for SMM2.

We’ll probably hear more about the Link’s Awakening remake for Switch, just to tide over Zelda fans until Nintendo comes up with the next big 3D game (no disrespect to the 2D Zeldas, but the 3D titles are definitely big landmarks and game-changers).

Beyond that, some cool looking indie titles, even more ports, maybe a couple decent-sized 1st or 3rd party reveals, and that's about what I’m expecting. See y’all on the other side of the break.

I know it’s been a long time already for Ben to have been apparently married but I know some of these Hollywood marriages are meant to last for awhile. I still believe that when Ben is ready he will get out of the relationship with SH. I don’t pretend to know what that set of circumstances would be but for now he looks more like he’s enduring than enjoying his relationship. I know how that feels. However one day when we’re not looking closely we’ll get the announcement. I just don’t plan to sit on the edge of my seat waiting.

Whenever someone mentions the length of this marriage, I’m always reminded of this prediction from Spinsie after the wedding:  LINK.  I quote:

Speaking to Spinsie in private, she always used to maintain that the marriage would last at least 3 years before Ben would step away from the madness, no matter how I was trying to inject our conversations with my (usual and misplaced) optimism.

I stopped sitting on the edge of my seat and trying to predict the future when Ben lost his cool, went on record saying his wife and child are not a PR stunt, and less than a month later confirmed a pregnancy no one even had a chance to wonder about.

i think they’re an inevitability, but obvs a Way off yet 😧 just a wild guess bcos i think it’d be neat, but i could see 2030 for them, cos that’d be a) nrly the same timespan between the hoenn remakes and the sinnoh remakes, and the sinnoh remakes and the unova remakes + b) the 20th anniversary of black/white 😳

if i had to guess what generation we’ll be up to by then?? maybe gen 10?? 🤔 i think u can imagine a reasonable timeframe there, and that’d carry on a nice pattern too, seeing as we’ve had gen 2 remakes in gen 4, gen 3 in gen 6, and now gen 4 in gen 8, so it’d be satisfying to get gen 5 in gen 10!!

idk how they’ll deal w/ the continued story between black/white and black 2/white 2 tho.. they’re still the only games that have ever had direct sequels, so would they all get remakes?? or w/ advances in gaming tech by then, maybe they’ll fit them all into one game?? that’s a difficult question 😧

and after them?? well atm i can’t imagine them doing x/y remakes.. 😅 (but i kno ppl say that every time there’s remakes like “hgss will be the last remakes, they won’t ever do sinnoh remakes!!”) like, gen 5 i can see, bcos they were the last 2d sprite based games, so the last needing of an ~upgrade~ to 3d, and getting to experience them like that for the first time will be Huge!! 😵

but x/y were the first 3d games and honestly rn, i can’t imagine an upgrade of them being that spectacular (i mean, the pokemon models between x/y, s/m and sw/sh have only been Slightly tweaked).. but rly, who knows!! if gen 5 remakes do end up being like 10 years away, who even knows what advances might have been made in gaming by then!! i mean, i couldn’t have predicted that hoenn remakes were gonna happen when fr/lg came out, or these sinnoh remakes when hg/ss came out 😅

SW/SH plot predictions.

Hop’s entire story is going to be a little brother wanting to beat his big brother. Being under the shadow of said big brother, it gives a lot of motivation and some depth that I hope we see on screen this time. (Looking at Hau and Hala.)

Sonia... I don’t know, but she is going to be entertaining to watch.

Leon... might be our antagonist in some way or form.

Dynamax... I am expecting someone in the game to use this on Tyranitar or any pokemon relating to a Kaiju from the Godzilla franchise.

This is going to be a wild ride.
