Langblr / Studyblr Introduction !

Hiya everyone! I will be taking the JLPT N2 (second highest level of a state-sanctioned Japanese exam) and I am... very behind on my studying. As such I thought creating a little blog to keep track of my progress and study together! Let me know if you're studying for something!

First of, my name is Hinde, and I learned Dutch and English at a very young age. During my linguistics BA I took Swedish on the side and afterwards I completed a Japanese bachelors as well. I also lived in Iceland for a month or two to get the basics down of that language.

My current goal is passing the N2 of the JLPT. I feel like I am currently hovering somewhere between N3 and N2, where my listening comprehension is on the lower side and my kanji knowledge on the higher. I'm gonna have to put in the work if I am to pass, but I'm gonna do my best to do so!

Saw a post asking about how many languages you know at least a little bit of, and the criteria for "knowing a little bit of" was 30 words and can form at least 1 sentence

I want you to keep that in mind when I write this list, more than likely it's just 30 words and 1 sentence.

1. (American) English - fluent, self explanatory.

2. German - ich kann sprecht Deutsche nicht so Ganz gut. Meine Deutsche ist arse. Ich have studien Deutsche in schule fur ein jahr. Meine family(?) macht min hasst Deutsche. Min (uncle) ist ein (racist) (who) har Nazi euros. Ich nicht studier Deutsche in fund jahren.

3. Swedish - jå, min svensk är sö inte bra, mitt svensk, därför studien Deutsche för jahren, jag (mix) vorden tillsomman och spelar vorden "deutshenized", . Jag studier därför min favorite twitch streammen, vargskelethor.

4. Japanese - こんにちは、私わオムニです。I know more Japanese than that, BUT I can't properly use it. Japanese was the very first language I ever studied, when I was 10 and got my first computer. I gave up when I was 12 and never quite picked it up again outside of occasionally learning a few words. おちんちんがだいすき。

5. Arabic

إنا من امريكا و إنا يذاكر عربي. إنا يذاكر لانها تعجبني

The one and only language I am currently studying. I've only been studying it for just about 2 weeks and I can't even tell what or how I might've spelled things wrong. Think Arabic calligraphy looks beautiful, and want to learn more about the arabic cultures without the demonization from the media

6. Russian - иди нафй, сука влат. Привет, как дела? Извините за мой русский. Я ие хорошо.

Started studying it in hopes I'd be able to go to the famous classical art school, and to help with the zlib project, but.... I'm afraid studying it gives off the wrong political impression

And then we have languages that I studied, definitely knew more than 30 words and at one point coult say a sentence, but forgot them all.

Hindi, Hebrew, Greek, Italian, and Norwegian.

So 6 languages currently, would be 11 if I didn't forget the others.

this started out as a langblr, but i really just post about random things (mostly languages tbf)

mostly reblogs so far, but i'll probably make more original posts in the future

languages: i know german, english, french, swedish and toki pona. i'm actively studying mandarin chinese. i have dabbled in lots of other languages, including gaeilge, farsi, bosnian, arabic and lithuanian

toki pona!! this deserves an extra bullet point because i am so fascinated by it at the moment omg (if you don't know what toki pona is, please send an ask, i will be very happy to infodump)

trains?? never thought i'd say this, but i've been working on a railway map and it's surprisingly interesting

hamilton (and musical theatre in general)

tatort (especially tatort münster, but it's gotten worse lately, so idk)

writing / poetry

literature (currently studying comparative literature at uni)

music, especially rock, punk and metal (although i'm open to almost anything and my music taste depends a lot on the languages i'm learning lol)

sweden and the swedish language

travelling (i don't get around much atm, but i hope that this will change soon)

student life / studying?? idk, but i'm a student at university and there's a reasonable chance i'll post about that. not primarily a studyblr tho

might add more in the future, this is probably fairly incomplete and the items are in no particular order. i'm making this post at 2 am, which says a lot about my sleep schedule. hope it's coherent at least

New account - introduction.

Would love to meet new friends!

Hi, friends! New year, new motivation, so I decided to start a langblr/studyblr to keep myself accountable!

My name is Rahel and I really love linguistics.

I'm native German and learned English to a grade I would put near fluency through lots of TV shows and books.

I took French for 6 years in high school, but I really lack practice, so while I can read classic literature in French, I struggle to hold a conversation. My Italian is good enough to survive on vacation I suppose.

(Here's a random shelfie) I have been on and off studying Korean and Swedish for years now, but I really struggle with consistency, which is why I'm here I suppose. And also why I picked up Spanish. Spanish being so similar to Italian and French as really helped me to finally stick to studying without getting overwhelmed!

I would love to meet new people on here who love languages just as much as I do, no matter which ones you actually study! So drop a follow and I'll always follow back.

vocab slut för idag! (1hr 15min! äntligen good use of study time! 🎉) imorron ska jag plugga det igen. idag, efter lunch ska jag börja på första section av dialogue. no, don't wanna do too much; want to avoid burn out. instead, I'll try again tomorrow, and ill focus on memorizing the dialogue w/ vocab instead of only vocab here on out. LATER: + personal production (describe area, sensory poems, stories, thoughts) + fill in the blanks (creatively) + and oc still lots of listening (old podcasts and interesting content) + grammar book supplements

100 days! last year i hit 155 days and then lost my streak while away without wifi or mobile data and i hope to reach that and more !
