The gender parameter in SynthV is formant shifting, but which formants I wonder? F1? F2’? A combination of various formants?
(Technically I have Tsurumaki Maki AI lite (the voicebank, with an anime-style character visual) but I forgot to check the exact name of the product so the first one just said it’s the lite version haha..)
I was trying to draw my interpretation of Maki (on the right) but it’s been a while and I didn’t focus too much on details when I drew the one above. I still like her decoration behind her left ear though
[image 3 handwriting transcript: (closer to) canon image. (fit for band music, rock, pop). image 4 handwriting transcript: (my) cool music tuning (rock, alt-rock ballad, metal?) [pointing to her hand] holding mic. [in Japanese] handsome… Tsurumaki [in English] (spare) bow string reel, wound up potential? end transcript]
[image 5 handwriting transcript: Tsurumaki Maki (cool masc tuning). interpretation 1 [pointing to light-brown hair version], interpretation 2 (closer to original colours) [pointing to blonde version], canon [pointing to canon design]. End transcript]

So, for those who don't know, I have a video series on YouTube that demonstrates the Vocal Modes and Cross-Lingual Synthesis capabilities of Synthesizer V AI libraries, primarily to help people make purchasing decisions.
I just uploaded videos for the new child vocals, Lin Lai, and Yun Quan. Check them out if you're interested!

Monday, February 17, 2025: Corduroy Institute creates an improvised layer of melodic content for Jam 5 of Corduroy 75. This marked our first recording of multitracked musical material since the summer of 2023. Today, a video document of this event is available with the title "The Number Seventy Five Song in Heaven - Corduroy 75 Jam 5 Layer 2."
youtube
For his synth work, W. Ruiz turned to the Roland V-Synth rather than to the Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus. He located a patch called PERSIANAS. Its basic sound consists of a sample of the Korg Monologue with shimmer reverb from Corduroy Institute's second song, "Youth." This sample is frequency modulated by a drum loop recorded at a local rehearsal space in late 2019.

S.A. Morin's melodic contribution involved returning to the Bass VI but processing it with the Electro-Harmonix Mel9 pedal. He chose the High Choir setting, one of the unit's more infrequently used Mellotron colorations. His signal chain also involved using the NUX Atlantic for both delay and reverb.

With our instruments ready and four cameras poised to capture the performance, we began the improvisation. A sort of call and response pattern developed between the previous layer's Squier Jazz Bass, the Bass VI-Mel9, and the V-Synth. Eventually the pattern broke and freeform improv took over.
W. Ruiz took advantage of the V-Synth's control surface by mainly manually modulating the FM amount while also occasionally reaching for the D-Beam and Time Trip pad controls. S. A. Morin, for his part, went on to surmise that he himself "kinda lost it there."
Full video available now.

been wondering what the deal is between Adrian Shepard and the rachni for ages and that post that just came out of my queue going on about "BECOME HIVE" just put it together for me: the song Adrian learns from the rachni, which forms the base melody of the Song he emits upon apotheosis and which infects and reorders the entire galaxy, is basically insect eusociality pheromones
#which also answers the ''how the fuck does the galaxy get so harmonious post-ascension'' question#is it some kind of weird cosmic magic? no. well yes. it's just bug song. but also weird cosmic bug song.#has to be weird and cosmic for it to work on like dozens of sapient species lol. BIG handwave#(there ARE rebellious factions and immunity mutations etc though)#(and tbf the ''synthesis'' ending is just as insane of an achievement as this so i'm actually still playing in canon's space :p)#.adrian#general oc tag#meanwhile between the mass relays#this is my 25000th post :V

I am once again reminding people that Vocaloid and other singing synthesizers are not the same as those AI voice models made from celebrities and cartoon characters and the like.
Singing synthesizers are virtual instruments. Vocaloids use audio samples of real human voices the way some other virtual instruments will sample real guitars and pianos and the like, but they still need to be "played", per say, and getting good results requires a lot of manual manipulation of these samples within a synthesis engine.
Crucially, though, the main distinction here is consent. Commercial singing synthesizers are made by contracting vocalists to use their voices to create these sample libraries. They agree to the process and are compensated for their time and labor.
Some synthesizer engines like Vocaloid and Synthesizer V do have "AI" voice libraries, meaning that part of the rendering process involves using an AI model trained on data from the voice provider singing in order to ideally result in more naturalistic synthesis, but again, this is done with consent, and still requires a lot of manual input on the part of the user. They are still virtual instruments, not voice clones that auto-generate output based on prompts.
In fact, in the DIY singing synth community, making voice libraries out of samples you don't have permission to use is generally frowned upon, and is a violation of most DIY engines' terms of service, such as UTAU.
Please do research before jumping to conclusions about anything that remotely resembles AI generation. Also, please think through your anti-AI stance a little more than "technology bad"; think about who it hurts and when it hurts them so you can approach it from an informed, critical perspective rather than just something to be blindly angry about. You're not helping artists/vocalists/etc. if you aren't focused on combating actual theft and exploitation.
#long post#last post I'm making about this I'm tired of commenting on other posts about it lol#500#1k

I neeeeeeeed to learn how to edit openutau dictionaries or phonemizers or whatever properly because I loooove the dectalk ass machine accent c+v voicebanks end up with but that phonemizer is nawwwwt cooperating with my wretched failed clone (c+v utau I recorded on my laptop mic)
#i was using the updated c+v documentation so i made q a fry instead of a straight glottal stop#but the phonemizer always wants to use q as a pure glottal stop so when it says like 'that'#instead of ending it with a t or dx it ends with my loud ass vocal fry SUFHFJSJBF#my attempts to edit the yamls have not be en successful.... there must be something im missing#i dont mind all the other replacements i gotta do (a lot of t's to dx's to soften certain sounds when i wanna go for a more NA sound)#(also on my clone pronouncing an ear sound with ih r sounds weird because irl i really heignten that ih to a iy sound)#but all the q's everywhere is killing meeee shfbdjdjfj#i guess thats the problem with english vocal synthesis. dialects get wacky. thats a problem with other languages too#but english is the one i know <3 and by god. dialects sure are dialecting

There’s a real. pause. Maybe it’s the horror in the look she gets, or the doubling down. Either way she chews her lip and thinks it over again. Tech still squints like she’s unsure about it. “Only need luck if you get all the unluck, first.” And little mice typically didn’t run into the unluck so much.
Unless of course they were lab mice.
Rather than answer Mazie’s question, Tech flops over backward and opens her arms, turning her face up to the sun. More to do? Always more to do. Chores around the Haven, favors for a friend, errands for well-paying individuals who really, really wanted one of those shiny new battery packs the city rolled out a few weeks ago that she happens to have a small stock of… Up here? She could rewire the whole thing, really. Line it all up and make the cordage more efficient, a little less likely to buckle under the next storm that rolls through. She can think of a hundred things to do, if she had the right (highly specialized, incredibly difficult to get, not so easy to substitute) bits and bobs. “This.” Is all she says. This. Stretch out, surrounded by the heat of the rooftop underneath her back and the desert air pressing over them. “It’s not the same in there.”
Well. It's technically the same sun, the same sky, the same wind. It all goes over the wall, one way or another. Despite all their claims and whatever it is that puts snow on the streets every winter, the city isn’t cut off from the desert, not really. But it's still different. “Further away,” somehow.
Stop fussing. Message received. She’s not sure her fussing could hold a candle to that laundry list; if even one of those things had happened to her little sister, Mazie’d be an inconsolable wreck. “Yeah, hard to kill,” she says, with a mix of awe and horror. “I hope my little mouse has half your luck.” The statement’s out before she fully realizes what she’s shared, and a vague grimace crosses her face.
It's not that she feels like she needs to protect Mallaidh from this group, or that they'd be awful about her—hell, the shit Mallaidh’s doing in the belly of the beast, they might like her sister better than her. It's just–Mallaidh’s hers. Mazie’s so used to people trying to exploit their connection, and she's spent so much time living for, sacrificing for, protecting her little sister, that it's hard to stop.
She turns away, carefully pacing a short distance off to regain her composure before returning to Tech’s side. “Got more to do up here?” She’s fairly certain of the answer, but the question is meant more as a distraction than a request for information.

it is genuinely the funniest fucking shit when a sysmed comes onto OUR posts, fakeclaiming us, being a giant piece of shit, and then we reply with literal PARAGRAPHS of proof that endogenic plurality is real, and then they block us 💀💀 like aww, did da wittle swysmwed weawize tat they hav no pwoof ?? awwwww 🥺🥺🥺
[plain text : aww, did the little sysmed realize that they have no proof ?? awwwww 🥺🥺]
like im sorry do NOT be commenting on our posts if you dont wanna catch these hands (and by hands, we mean peer reviewed, published papers about non disordered plurality from respected doctors that specialize in dissociation, OSDDID, and trauma)
so uhhh,,,, if you wanna get a sysmed to leave you alone, just tell them about dr. eric yarbrough, or dr's nijenhuis and van der hart, or the ICD-11, or the DSM-V-TR, or dr richard loewenstein, or a paper published by zarah eve, kim heyes, and sarah party called "Conceptualizing multiplicity spectrum experiences: A systematic review and thematic synthesis" ( https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/cpp.2910 ) or the acedemic article dating all the way back to 1991 that talks about non-disordered plurality (ross. 1991), or like. just reference the lived experiences of hundreds of people and ask them why they think their opinion is more valid then peoples lived experiences
if anyone wants us to make a post compiling all the sources we can find that prove endogenic plurality exists just let us know and we'll try !!! it'll definitely take us a while though lol
