Anyway for someone who's scared of numbers, I like stats a surprising amount. I have used my SynthV uquiz as an opportunity to gather some semi-relevant stats!

The following statistics are an average. I have purposefully excluded respondents who seemed to be very obviously taking the quiz multiple times (same uncommon username, mentioned it themselves, repeated keysmashes), and though some may have slipped through the cracks, the numbers are such that they won't skew the results.

Biases: 1. It's mostly tumblr users, buncha Discord users, probably some uquiz users, probably some BlueSky users. 2. I don't know how much word to mouth played a role. 3. Half (68) of the total possible answers (136) was used for this average. 4. Quiz is roughly 1 week old.

Q: Should vocal synths sound realistic?

The LARGE majority of respondents have stated that they "enjoy both equally and independently."

Q: How do you interact with vocal synth?

The numbers are close with the exclusion of "I only listen to songs and covers, I don't use vocal synth myself", which was barely voted for. Listening mostly wins over creating.

Q: Is SynthV your first relationship?

The large majority of respondents knew other vocal synths before SynthV.

(Note about the graph: the "prefer others" option was phrased as "I'm actually more familiar with other programs - I like SynthV but I don't like or know it the most.")

Q: You can only use and listen to one of the Rap voicebanks forever. Who is it?

It's Yi Xi. I could have guessed as much.

And as far as I can tell, there's no obvious link between "casual fan" and "user" for this; Yi Xi is popular among all groups.

Q: What tends to be the native language of your favourite voicebanks?

37% of respondents didn't make a choice in this one. Cowards... It's impossible to tell all the "I couldn't be arsed to check"-s from the "it's legitimately equal"-s.

Among those who did, Japanese was the most popular, which is probably unsurprising, though I was expecting English to be closer. I didn't specify I meant the question as only pertaining to SynthV voicebanks, which is my bad (and may have caused a bias towards Japanese; gauging the whole of vocal synth).

Q: Who's your favourite out of these: Kevin, Qing Su, SOLARIA, ASTERIAN, GENBU, Mo Chen, Kotonoha Akane & Aoi

One of the more specific questions. ...Oh what, you thought it would be Kevin?

It's SOLARIA. But I'll be honest, if anything shows that my quiz doesn't represent the fandom exactly, it's this. SOLARIA and ASTERIAN were bound to be the most popular, but for as much as I like them, I don't think more people like the Kotonoha twins than Kevin.

I'd say recency bias but not that many people give a shit about VOCALOID6 specifically... Maybe that's it, still.

Q: Respondents chose from a short section of lyrics from these songs (spoilers!): Language of the Lost by R.I.P, Collared by Vane Lily, WILDCARD by KIRA, Uncanny by GHOST, weathergirl by FLAVOR FOLEY.

It's pretty close between Language of the Lost and weathergirl!

Most respondents will have known all or most of these songs. It's unfortunately impossible to tell whether people voted for their favourite song overall or their favourite out of the lyrics presented. (I'd hope the latter, but I'm guessing a lot of people will have just voted for their fave song.)

By the way, by processing answers from oldest to most recent, it took a while for Uncanny to show up. (At first I was under the impression that WILDCARD was getting the most votes, as well - tumblr users would have seen my poll first, but tumblr users are the type to listen to GHOST the most... right?!)

Some added context; singers by order of most to least votes: Kasane Teto, Eleanor Forte, SAROS, Kevin, Kasane Teto.

Q: Opinion on Dreamtonics fandesigns.

This is actually one I was curious about. Sorry to the people who didn't like having to picture making a choice.

I'm pleasantly surprised that "coming up with my own is the most fun" was one of the most popular options!

Btw, there's also no notable bias for who voted for the "Logos are fine" option. Listeners and creators alike were among the few who selected it.

Q: Do you/have you used Lite voicebanks?

I am excluding people who voted for "I'm a listener only and have no opinion on the matter." from the graph. Note that no one voted for "I'm a listener only and I avoid listening to songs made with Lite voicebanks", a question I jokingly mapped to ROSA because I'm portraying her as a bully in the final result and I knew virtually no one would vote for that.

Only one person voted for what I labelled "Fuck no" to Lites that I recall. Once again, 37% of respondents were excluded from the graph (and no they're not all the same who didn't vote in the Native language question).

tl;dr: bring back Lites Dreamtonics! People use those!

Q: What genre do you tend to gravitate towards? (Pop, Rock and roll, Metal, EDM, Country, Hip hop or Classical)

I don't need to look at the table to know that it's Pop. Which is unfortunate because as someone who hid within vsynth because I didn't fit in with the majority I'm looking like a weirdo again,

But hey, Rock and roll and EDM are both next, two genres that I like!
