Theory: Wally had his powers before the incident

Gonna preface this by saying this might just be a crackpot theory, since it's all circumstantial, but I'm curious to know if anyone has any thoughts.

Something I've seen a few people remark on is the degree to which Wally blames himself for causing Barry's death. It'd be fair to argue that he's feeling so much guilt because he wasn't supposed to be in the lab in the first place (& because he's a kid, and might be less capable of processing and regulating his emotions), but what if he blames himself because something about him caused the backlash? What if he had some sort of pre-existing power (that he knew about) which reacted when he got caught in the explosion and protected him from harm at the expense of Barry's life? (Image below, it looks like his hoodie is being liquified in the explosion — but in the current time, it's in one piece. Maybe his powers managed to protect his clothing too?)

In the first few pages, Wally mentions that he'd felt something "coming on again," and that "she used to catch it early," that "she could make [him] relax." This might just be anxiety attacks — there's reference to "racing thoughts" and "obsessive overthinking," but it's phrased just vaguely enough that I feel the anxiety could be a symptom of something else: maybe a side effect of/a precursor to a power that he can't control rearing its head. Maybe these powers didn't just react to the explosion, but are in fact what caused it: maybe he went to the lab despite knowing and feeling in his gut that "it" was starting again, so he blames himself for putting Barry in harm's way. ("You know what you did," he says to himself in the image above)

Another thing I found interesting: Rudy's apparent distrust of Barry. He says the work is "dangerous" and that he has to "keep [Wally] safe." When Wally expresses a favourable view of Barry, Rudy totally freaks and forbids him from speaking to Barry again. (He's also very cold in his initial interaction with Barry) Meanwhile, Barry's been nothing but extremely cordial and kind. So, I see four possible reasons for Rudy's hatred of the man: 1) Barry brought a 15 yr old kid into a classified area with a bunch of experiments that're maybe not super safe, and Rudy's pissed he would put Wally in danger just to show him something 'cool', 2) Barry's kind of positioning himself as a mentor/father figure to Wally and Rudy's feeling very salty about it, 3) Rudy knows something unfavourable about Barry that we don't, or 4) Rudy wants the doctor who's in charge of experimenting on unknown lifeforms, specifically, as far away from his kid as possible; Barry just happens to be that doctor. Nothing personal.

Number 1) is the most likely, but Rudy's reaction to Wally talking about Barry is so extreme that I think 4) is also plausible within this theory. If Wally does have powers that Rudy knows about, it makes sense he'd want to keep him miles away from the "mad scientist" who's in charge of dissecting unusual things.

My final point: Wally doesn't seem super confused about what's happening to him. He takes being transported back in time into stride, and his main anxiety is about what his father is going to do to him when he finds out. He doesn't wonder what's happening to him; he doesn't seem to be struggling with the powers(?) themselves. He's scared because he "messed up". Maybe his dad has told him to repress his powers, and he's not only violated that command, but also blown up an innocent man in the process.

Like I said, this is all circumstantial, but I'd love to hear if anyone agrees or disagrees!

I have Void, an anti-hero/vigilante thing– I don't even know, they're more anti-hero but it's whatever. I'm going to make them a magician like Constantine, they were a meta with Umbrakinesis but I thought better of it

I have Supernova, a kryptonian oc I made that only really exists in Terry McGinnis' time and is the super there– I think I made them Conner's kid, or something but I love them, I based then off a poem I wrote recently. But they have a twist to them, just like how Conner did with tactile telekinesis. I gave them like this, kinetic absorption/conversation power

Then Powerhouse, a speedster oc I made purely because of Bart. They're going to be a speedster that relies more of technical advices more than own running speed. I don't know how to explain it, just think of sonic and shadow. Sonic actually runs and Shadow just uses air shoes, that's pretty much them

And Game Changer, I'm trying to make into a Villain oc– Not much on them, just a video game based Villain obviously

If anyone wants to help– Please. Please give me a reason to talk about them, I need it

The more I think about it, the more I really want to know how Tetsuji managed to keep the fact that the Ravens are a cult under wraps, considering that even Neil was having trouble functioning normally after only 2 weeks.

Like, it isn't even the physical abuse that causes the biggest problem. It's the 16 hour days, inability to do anything other than exy, social isolation, and the dictated nutrition and choices. They learn none of the skills that a typical young adult learns in college- cooking, cleaning, time management, money management, networking, etc. Not all of the Ravens can be rich enough that that sort of thing just doesn't matter. They basically get dropped into the world after college with no idea how to get a place to live, feed themselves, pay bills, or anything required of an adult and with no support network to help.

And including the physical abuse, all of these athletes suddenly have to have a miriade of health problems due to over-exercise, lack of sleep, violent playing styles, and I'm assuming physical abuse from Tetsuji and/or Riko.

All of these athletes are apparently signing with pro teams and there can't be that many that they only have one or two athletes a piece. We know from Lucas that the drastic change to their personalities is very noticiable to anyone who did know them and they're mentally unstable enough to off themselves after being forced to leave the campus, so how has no one noticed that all of the players that get signed from this one college team are barely functional, incredibly mentally unhealthy, and insanely violent?

Dick, blushing again (and he'll do it again!!): o-oh, sweetheart, I didn't know you were coming to visit, it's spring isn't it?

Wally, smiles again: yes, that's why I came down here. Now put this paperwork up and be with me instead.

Dick: I would, but I can't go on a date right now, I have to get these all sorted out and —

Wally, let's go of his face: I don't need you for a date, I need you to be my little bee and pollinate me, honey.

Dick, confused:

Dick, got it: OH! I uh... *Throws paper work to the floor not caring and got up* of course, why didn't you lead with that.

Prismatic AU is the name of an OC AU I have, that basically has the premise of K-Pop Demon Hunters because ITS SO GOOD AHHH

I know in the end it doesn’t matter but still.. from one post alone there are over 80 people who will think that Wally was the flash that Bart looked up to and will not have it otherwise when you say that no that’s not true and you know their not going to read to find out themselves.

Wally was not the flash that Bart looked up to. It. Was. Barry. PERIOD. I can name two other people who Bart possibly looked up to that weren’t Wally. Are you ready? Max Mercury and Iris Allen. Not in a “mentor” sense obviously but to Bart they got more “looking up to” than Wally EVER did.

Why would Bart look up to the man who orchestrated him to get shot by a cold gun so that he could “learn” pain? (Flash Vol. 2 #97) The same man who shoved him away constantly when they first met? How do you think Bart ended up with Max Mercury in the first place? (Impulse #1) Because Wally didn’t want to be the one to mentor him and they had no other good options.

What about this entire issue? Mentor?

Like I hate to burst your bubble and all that but… it’s right there. And that’s not even all the examples just the ones I had ready after a quick search

Edit (from the tags): just to be clear this isn’t a hate post about Wally. He is his own complicated character who had his reasons for doing the things he did and I’m not trying to erase that from him. It’s good writing to have a complex character who you’re back and forth with emotionally but in the same sentence you’re proclamation that changes Barts entire history IS erasing HIS complexity. Does that make sense?

You know, I see a lot of comparisons to Barry's S1 apartment that he briefly had to the Loft and they're rightly made that the Loft never has Barry's personality in it. It never feels like a place where he lives.

But... it never really has Iris' personality in it either. Anyone could live there, it came out of a catalogue. It doesn't have Iris' sense of style or pizzazz.

It's a place with all the trappings of what people pretend adulthood is and no real substance of the people who exist there.

CoV K-Pop Demon Hunters AU Babble Sesh!!

First design of my K-Pop Demon Hunter CoV AU, which I might just call the Prismatic AU, due to that being the band name instead of HUNTR/X. The premise of the AU is basically the same as K-Pop Demon Hunters, but the plot will likely be a tad different :D

The Prismatic AU involves characters from Call of the Void, a Percy Jackson esc story. The main characters of the Prismatic AU are Sam Allen, Sapphire Storm, and Ruby Darkshine, who are in place of the HUNTR/X trio and take the role of pop star-demon slayers <33

Pictured above is Sam Allen, and my design for her 'main' outfit for the AU, as well as a wip sketch lol She takes the role of Rumi as the lead singer, and I plan to draw her with her demonslaying weapon, a kampilan sword, later!

In CoV, Sam has the power of hydrokinesis, so I tried to homage to that and her canon design with blues and a wave design on her crop top and shorts :) I also added in her hearing aids she has in canon because why not
