So I have about 6 posts sitting in drafts - excluding some brainstorming on other projects - and 4 requests in my inbox. Once I finish those I'll be all caught up.

I already don't know what to do with myself...

I'm thinking about working on some prompts for characters I don't write as often (been kind of hovering on the same 3 for a while now), and have a couple ideas for my own prompts.

There's not really any point to this, just kinda thinking out loud.

it also irks me just how easily people paint maelle as this selfish bitch (she is a child btw) when it's spelled out for you WHY she thinks staying in the painting is a valid reason TO HER. it's like they have no empathy because they see no value to her character other than the fact that she keeps verso from his happy ending. they refuse to see the sister verso died saving.

it feels like a massive disservice to the narrative themes and story that expedition 33 is trying to present to argue over which of the characters was correct in their approach and claim that one ending is a definite good or bad ending

i feel like i have seen so many people invalidating the way that certain characters are dealing with their grief and the tragedy of the story, that one ending is more valid than the other. the story was always a tragedy, it was never going to be anything else. we all knew that going into the third act that there wasn’t going to be a happy ending. verso was killed in an act to save his sister, the consequences of which drove the dessendre family to deal with an immeasurable amount of grief with this godlike power of being painters. both endings were always going to result in someone experiencing a loss of autonomy.

i just feel like it does the whole story such an injustice to see things as black and white, to try and justify why you made the decision you made by stuffing these characters and their grief into a definite good or bad ending. to view it as a simple choice between verso and maelle. is it justifiable to torture verso’s soul that is still tied to the canvas as a means to continue living in a false reality? do the lived realities and desires of those who lived in lumiere mean less because of what we now know?
