⌗ Professor Alcowitz (or wtv his name is) — "What a personality Tazzmin is! She's almost as bad as Tori's sister Trina!"
"I will admit though, she is a powerhouse who doesn't know how to hone her skills properly. She needs some proper guidance and by GOD I am not putting one of her friends to mentor her. I've seen the way she looks at them..."
"Every other week, I swear I have a new student, but no, it's just Tazzmin in a new wig"
💌 ..1 message from Taz, "oh. Thats probably the coconut juice speaking. ignore him" "??/10"

⌗ Tori — Cool acquaintances! "She's pretty... interesting..! I think she can be pretty unpredictable at times, which kinda scares me but overall she's a really cool girl!
💌 ..1 message from Taz, "I mean she's definitely there! There isn't much I have to say about her because we don't really hang out that much. Our personalities don't mingle as well as id like them to. Her sister is pretty cool though! Love Trina!!! "4/10"

⌗ Cat — Cat personality x Cat person "OMGG HAVE YOU SEEN THE WIGS SHE COMES IN WITH?? My personal favourite is her green one. I hope she'll lend me one of hers, one day.."

•
# Jade — The unlikely duo/Yin and Yang! "Weird. Sassy. Very unfiltered. Kind of airheaded. But at least she can dress better than these losers"
"She's way more capable of things I didn't even know she could do. I underestimated her before but I've grown to respect her."
"I've seen the way she looks at Andre, Robbie, me and Beck and she thinks she's slick. Just know. I know what you are Taz..."
💌 ..1 message from Taz, "I dont know what shes talking about dont listen to her. Other than THAT.. Her loud and scary persona doesnt fool me. I can tame that beast." "8/10"
•
⌗ Robbie — Cunty babe x nerdy guy trope/ "Taz... kinda makes me nervous with how.. assertive and blunt she can be at times haha.. but tbh what girl doesn't make me nervous."
"It's honestly shocking how much stuff she carries in that one bag. I tried to carry it for her once and I felt my arm dislocate! She's got something for EVERYTHING in there!"
💌 ..1 message from Taz, "My god that loser is so FUCKING CUTEEE. I like to tease him a lot which his puppet Rex equally finds funny lmao. He can hit it." "9/10"
•
⌗ Andre — Wonder duo/My ride or die "Gotta love Taz! She's extremely talented, a bit of a busy body always doing multiple things at once, she's stylish, funny and just a whole vibe gotta be on the same level to get her"

"She DEFINITELY has a thing for Robbie, Jade and Beck."
💌 ..1 message from Taz, "Im so glad i met Andre. Hes the one i go to for musical advice. And all of his songs slap." "8/10"
•
⌗ Beck — Partners in crime/My ride or die part.2 "Oh Taz! She's... something! That's not to say I don't get along with her, cus I do but yknow.. the things she says catches me off guard."
"Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who clocks what outrageous things she says at times and it makes me feel like I'm going insane. I think she does it on purpose"
💌 ..1 message from Taz, "I do it on purpose. And smash." "9/10"

tiskdjsdkcnxnd yes they took away zoros whimsy too!!!! hes not serious and solemn all the timeeee (tbf he did get like one joke in the la but still)
I expected Zoro to be sillier. I must say that the jokes he makes are good and I did laugh at those but when he got serious he probably got TOO serious and he was giving post-ts instead of pre-ts (if that makes any sense)???? Idk. Both Zoro and Nami deserved to be sillier.
#i love complaining about things i apologize for all this negativity about opla#i swear i like stuff about it too#like sanji for example let's talk about our precious boy taz he's literally the best#but really i did like zoro and luffy's scenes they have a lot of chemistry#SEE MY PROBLEM ISN'T THE ACTORS I LOVE THEM I LOVE HOW THEY PORTRAY THE CHARACTERS#i just fucking hate the script or the directing or literally anything that isn't the cast#opla to me is just a game of sims: it doesn't make any sense. it doesn't have to make any sense i just wanna watch my sillies doing whateve#one piece#roronoa zoro#opla

it is really exhausting how much people are really digging their heels in on that you cannot criticize or critique the narrative choices or direction or structure of CritRole C3 on the basis that it is not strictly scripted. like, yes, there is an element of improv, a strong element even, but this isn't completely free-form improv. there's a degree of structure and intentionality. it being somewhat improv or unscripted doesn't mean that it does not or cannot have structure, intent, direction, purpose, control over the narrative choices.
stating "well, it doesn't cohere as strongly because it's unscripted" doesn't hold when there's dozens and dozens of strong ttrpg campaigns that are also unscripted and improv. ExU Calamity, Candela, TAZ, Dimension 20, DesiQuest, NADDPOD, Into the Motherlands, Rivals of Waterdeep, LA by Night, Transplanar, on and on — these are all improv and unscripted with really strong storytelling and structure. "it's unscripted" does not mean anything because other campaigns manage! this campaign is capable of cohering despite being unscripted because plenty of other campaigns have.
like, on top of that, if you cannot criticize its direction on the basis of being unscripted and thus lacking in motivated intent, it suggests that you cannot praise it for messaging, themeing, narrative, or anything that would suggest needing motivated intent. if it cannot fail on the basis that it's unscripted and improv, then it cannot succeed either because such argument suggests that unscripted improv robs it of having control of its direction. for any failure to be without merit because it is not by full choice and is just out of their control, then any success is similarly accidental and without merit.
frankly, if I were trying to defend the direction of the campaign, I simply would not be doing so by functionally invoking Monkeys With Typewriters
#this could be worded better but i'm bleh and my brain isn't working. Like Moonward coheres and it's fuller improv.#I am not a particularly skilled actual play performer but I am in fact one so I know intimately how bullshit this argument is#“oh but it's improv and unscripted” you can still tell a damn coherent story and execute a character with structure and intent#and you can still very much FAIL to do these things inside unscripted work#Critical Role things

Expect the Unexpected.
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie better not disappear from theaters before I can spread the word on it.
It’s gorgeously animated. The story is a big old pile of fun. It feels like the Looney Tunes comeback we deserved. The re-imagining of Daffy and Porky as adopted brothers makes their classic dynamic quite meaningful while also leaning into the chaos that is inherent in Looney Tunes.
This movie is basically 9 Looney Tunes shorts in a trenchcoat made of an overarching story. You have “Porky and Daffy get a job at the gum factory,” “Porky and Daffy uncover an alien conspiracy,” “Porky and Daffy fight Zombies,” among others I won’t spoil here. Each situation flowing perfectly into the next making a chain reaction of jokes, situations, and, well, Looney Tunes. It’s almost the game of “yes and” made in film form. There were even a few surprises that genuinely made me both gasp and laugh my ass off at the exact same time.
This movie is laser focused on three Looney Tunes. This is a movie about Daffy, Porky, and Petunia Pig. (Note: This movie finally justifies the Petunia Pig Lego minifigure from a few years back. Yes she still should have been Elmer or Sam but I’ll be damned if they didn’t make her finally relevant) None of the others appear. *I need them too.* I need the reverence, care, and adoration put into this film given to Sylvester, Taz, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Speedy Gonzalez if they’ve finally gotten over that whole thing. And Bugs. Good God I need to know what could be done with this team and Bugs Bunny.
And I need you to make that happen. I don’t expect a big opening weekend for this. But I’m hoping for the kind of second weekend that gets attention. Snow White comes out next weekend. *FUCK SNOW WHITE.* The Looney Tunes brought us a traditionally animated beautiful comedy. You’re gonna hate Snow White. You already know that. You’ve seen the other Disney Remakes. I’ll see Snow White for you and give a review that’ll be way more fucking entertaining than that movie could ever be.
Go see Looney Tunes instead.
Join the fun.
Now my song is done.

Void State Hypnosis?
Hello everyone! I'm thinking about creating a hypnosis file for achieving the void state. I've been delving into hypnosis and found that I'm quite skilled at it. Since the main goal of most hypnosis is to reprogram, and many here seem unable to enter the void state due to their programming against it, I thought using hypnosis could be an interesting way to reverse that and reshape your core assumptions about the void to make it easier for you to genuinely believe and thus effortlessly enter the void. :)
If I go ahead with this, I'll post it, as well as share the script publicly to ensure safety for anyone interested.
So, does this idea interest anyone here? If yes, comment and I'll tag you when I release it
OR you can subscribe and turn on notifications, and that'll notify you anyway
Much love - Tazvene

IN CONVERSATION WITH TAZ SKYLAR
interview by JANA LETONJA

Olivier Award nominated writer, actor and producer Taz Skylar just starred in action thriller ‘Cleaner’, which premiered in February. Next up, we’ll be seeing him return for the second season of Netflix’s popular series ‘One Piece’.
You just starred in the highly anticipated film ‘Cleaner’, alongside Daisy Ridley. What attracted you to this project?
Martin Campbell’s directed some of my all time favorite movies. I mean, ‘Mask of Zorro’, ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Goldfinger’. He’s worked with everyone I idolised growing up and I wanted to see if I could cut it. Callum, the producer is a really good friend of mine. And he called me one day to ask if I could come meet Campbell, like right now, for a film. And I was on set for another movie, near London Bridge, so I wrap and get in the blacked out car that’s waiting outside of set. And I read the script on the way to the studios in Reading. I was hooked. I couldn’t believe I was getting a shot at something like this. Martin and I read the script together for a like 4 hours, before he finally stood up and said “Well done my boy”, and patted me on the back. I responded to him “You didn’t think you were going to like me, isn’t it Martin? But low key you like me now. I can tell”. He laughed and walked away, but I got the job.
In ‘Cleaner’, your character is involved in a high-stakes, life-or-death situation. What was it like preparing for such intense scenes, especially being suspended 50 stories above the ground in such a perilous scenario?
For me, the perilous environment was more contained inside Noah’s volatile mind. Heights have never been much of an issue for me. I’m a skydiver, I’ve logged like 300 jumps at this point, so that bit was nothing in comparison to just trying to figure out how to ground such a mercurial and explosive character. I did a lot of reading, wrote manifestos in his voice, built mood boards with historical references.
You’ll also be reprising your role as Sanji in ‘One Piece’ season 2. What can fans expect from your character’s journey in this next season?
I obviously can’t say much, but what I can say is that this season is wild. The whole production is really attempting to do something that I don’t think has ever been done on TV before. The scale is immense. The sets are enormous, the action exponentialized, and all of us in the cast are somehow even closer than I think we’ve ever been.
How has playing Sanji impacted you both professionally and personally?
Professionally, it’s definitely given me opportunities I would have never gotten before. I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that I got a call to meet Martin Campbell, the week after ‘One Piece’ came out. It’s validated me as a creative in some ways and I’m thankful for the projects I get to look at and consider now.
Personally, it’s been a rollercoaster. It’s so cool to have people like something I did. It’s awesome to see people smile when they see me. Everyone wants to give you their best self and it’s humbling. But on the other hand, it’s like a buffet of attention and it’s easy to overeat. Boundaries are a concept I always loathed because it sounds so clinical to have boundaries, but I’ve realised that they’re necessary to keep myself healthy. Time is something I guard in a military-esque way. And my privacy is something I never knew I’d value so much til it eroded. I’m enjoying the ride, but stopping to check in with myself a lot more than I used to.
You’ve worked on a variety of projects. How do you choose roles that align with your values and career goals?
Every time I take something new on, it’s completely different and opposite from the thing I did before it. So as long as it’s different, at least I’m not repeating myself. Now that I’ve done theatre on the West-End and off, a big hundred and fifty million dollar show for Netflix, some grounded Indies and a straight up action movie like ‘Cleaner’, I’m thinking my next project might be a complete 360. Something no one would expect. I’d love to work with someone like Florian Zeller or Aaron Sorkin. Something really dialogue and character driven. I want to do something in Spanish too, my native language, as I’ve only ever acted in English so far.
As an Olivier Award-nominated writer, you’ve shown talent beyond acting. Could you share more about your writing journey, and how your experiences as an actor influence your approach to writing and producing?
Writing is my number 1. Honestly, if I could chose to just act in the things I write myself, I would. But acting gives me the opportunity to learn from great writers who are more experienced than me, great directors, great producers, so it feeds back in to everything I write.
I started writing plays not even really knowing what I was doing. I’d just watch all the plays that were on in London and draw parallels between the things I liked and the things I didn’t. And I’d write from the heart. There’s something really beautiful about naivety in writing. The first few things that young writers write are unfiltered and uninfected by expectations. I’m on a journey to keep that as much as I can in my writing. Releasing myself of expectations or trends, and just penning things that I would feel excited to watch, to make, to leave as my literary legacy in the world.
As a writer, what type of stories do you feel most compelled to tell? How does your personal background and experiences influence the kinds of narratives you want to share with the world?
I’m obsessed with biographies. I’m obsessed with peoples’ lives and how much we can learn from witnessing other peoples’ journey. I’ve been trying to get the rights to Steve O’s book ‘Professional Idiot’ for a long time. With little success, if I’m honest, but I’m stubborn. There’s something so human about the way he talks about his relationship with attention. I want to write a biopic on him.
The other day, I met El Mago Pop, a young magician, from a small town in Barcelona, who’s breaking box office records around the world, and also really inspired me as a story. He’s a classic underdog of the new age. I’d love to write about him too. There’s a bunch of things I have in development right now. One of them is with my favourite production company ever, SeeSaw, who made Florian Zeller’s film adaptations and ‘The King’s Speech’, ‘Slow Horses’, etc. I’m really excited about the project I’ve been working on with them.
As someone who works across multiple genres, from sci-fi to drama to thrillers, what future roles or genres would you like to explore more? Are there any specific projects you’re aiming to be a part of in the near future?
‘Bond’. It’s my dad’s favourite franchise. I grew up watching it. I’d love to be a part of that.
Zeller and Sorkin, like I said before. I’d kill to work with them. And anything that Martin Campbell ever directs. I love that man so much, and his whole family. I’d work with Martin again every year if I could.
With so much excitement around your projects, what do you hope people take away from your work? What impact do you hope to have on the industry and audiences moving forward?
I come from a small island, in the Canaries. There was no theatre on the island. And the closest cinema was almost 2 hours away. I got kicked out of school when I was 15 and I can barely spell a few sentences without an inevitable collection of typos, but somehow I’ve written a play that was recognised by the Oliviers, a movie that went to London Film Festival and acted in successful shows without the slightest idea of how that’s actually supposed to be done. So, I guess I’d just love my legacy to one day be that trying matters. Just be the hardest tryer that’s ever tried something, it’ll get you further than you could ever imagine. That and that youthful naiveté is a superpower to be harnessed. Enthusiastic naivete can also get you a lot further than knowledge or education sometimes.
What is coming up next for you, besides the second season of ‘One Piece’?
I’m about to go shoot a movie which we haven’t announced yet. I’m super excited about it. The script is fire. The characters are awesome and subversive, and I can’t wait to hopefully put out another piece as a writer in the near future.

I really really really wish that the writing team for Season 2 consider Sanji’s origin and trauma when writing his character. I’m worried that they might not even think about it because theres a lot going on in Season 2, and they may not do it because they assume that they won’t reach WCI. Sanji is probably the most misunderstood character in one piece so I’m worried about his writing and whether the writers understood what kind of character he is. Also, the writers for the Baratie episodes in Season 1 are not part of the writer’s room for Season 2. I’m hoping that someone in the writing team likes Sanji enough to do some justice for character.
How would you write the hints or foreshadowing of Sanji’s origins in opla, making it obvious for the audience that there’s more inner trauma within without directly talking about it? Other being self-sacrificial. For me, I think him having nightmares is one way to show it. But there has to be more and I wonder if you have more ideas for this.
Also, which members in the crew would immediately pick on the fact that there’s something Sanji isn’t talking about that is just bothering him? My bet is obviously Luffy. But I also think Robin would have picked up on that.
yeah this is something i think about a lot and something i really hope we see in season 2. and honestly even if it’s not implicit in the writing/the script taz knows enough about sanji and his backstory to add little moments here and there with his acting.
nightmares are definitely one of the easiest ways to start to get across that he does have this trauma and a past we don’t explicitly know and i definitely think that is something he would suffer from but i think there’s a lot of little things you can do. i imagine him clamming up if ever the north blue is mentioned, like the scene in skypeia where he says that’s where he was born but more uncomfortable about it, like it’s a fact he didn’t mean to tell. his hands in his hair when he’s stressed and in more relaxed moments, the crew swapping stories and he’s unable to answer basic questions about his childhood, shutting off the minute before zeff is said and his voice bitter on the “forget a brother” comment to chopper about ace. he’s wary of doctors, even chopper, dragging his heels over a general checkup to a degree that has the others raising their eye eyebrows and he speaks to usopp if ever his self doubts and fear of weakness come up like a man intimately familiar with the feeling of being too weak, of being left behind and his knowledge of warfare, of combat and battles is far more in-depth than you would expect of someone who has lived their live working in kitchens. whoever’s on watch will sometimes find him in the kitchens late at night when he can’t sleep, hands shaking and he’ll force a smile and offer tea, and try to make it look like he’s okay, like he’s not being kept awake by ghosts. i also definitely see him bringing up his time on the baratie and with zeff a lot because if he can make people focus on and think about that then hopefully they won’t question the 10 years of his life prior to it.
other trauma responses i don’t think will ever come up explicitly but i absolutely believe he has include claustrophobia, a refusal to close the pantry door behind him and full blown panic if ever there was a situation they end up in a cell (he puts it down to being locked in the baratie pantry as a kid but no one believes him). he cannot have anything on or covering his head or face and he still flinches if ever he sees red, blue or green hair out of the corner of his eye on the street (on more than one occasion he’s been woken from a nightmare by zoro or franky and in his disoriented, not quite awake state jerked away from them like he’d been struck).
there’s one moment in season 2 that’s perfect for a direct reference and i will be mad if the opportunity isn’t taken and that’s in little garden when sanji’s on the phone with crocodile. he starts off the way he does in the anime, cocky and sure, answering the phone like it’s a prank call, totally relaxed, up until the moment crocodile calls him mr 3, at which point his face falls, his expressions shutters and he looks vulnerable, maybe even afraid before quickly getting ahold of himself, because it has been a long time since he was associated with that number and it does not bring up good memories.
as for the crew luffy is absolutely perceptive enough to pick up on sanji’s reactions to things and the way he sometimes so obviously changes the topic when conversations skirt too close to things he’d rather avoid. i also think nami and robin suss out that he’s been through something, simply because of shared experiences. they know what trauma does to people, they can recognise the signs and know what it looks like when someone’s hiding something because that too was their lives before luffy.
#this one got long#i love this topic#one piece#one piece live action#opla#black leg sanji#sanji one piece#vinsmoke sanji#one piece sanji#sanji

Capturing Hearts Iñaki Godoy x Reader
Chapter 3: A Dinner Invitation [Part 1]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The atmosphere on the set of One Piece was charged with excitement as the premiere of the second season drew closer. With the buzz surrounding the show reaching new heights, the cast and crew were busier than ever, preparing for a series of interviews and promotional events.
As the official Instagram photographer for the production, you found yourself juggling multiple tasks at once, from snapping behind-the-scenes shots to coordinating with the cast and crew for promotional events. And as the day of the first round of interviews approached, you knew that you had your work cut out for you.
One morning, as you reviewed the schedule for the day, a sense of nervousness crept over you. The cast would be facing their second round of interviews, and it was up to you to make sure that they were prepared.
As you made your way to the dressing rooms, you couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension. The cast members were talented actors, but many of them were new to the world of interviews and publicity, and you knew that they would need your help to navigate the process.
"Good morning, everyone," you greeted with a smile as you entered the dressing room. "I hope you're all ready for the interviews today."
The cast members looked up from their scripts, their expressions a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"We're as ready as we'll ever be," one of them replied, a hint of uncertainty in their voice.
You nodded, understanding their apprehension.
"Don't worry, I'll be there to help you every step of the way," you reassured them, your voice filled with confidence. "Just be yourselves and remember to have fun."
With that, you set to work, helping the cast members prepare for their interviews by running through potential questions and coaching them on how to present themselves in front of the cameras. And as the time for the interviews drew nearer, you could feel the tension in the air, the cast members growing more and more nervous with each passing moment.
But just as the first interview was about to begin, Iñaki Godoy, the charismatic lead actor of the show, stepped into the dressing room with a smile.
"Hey there, everyone," he greeted warmly. "I just wanted to wish you all good luck for the interviews today. You're going to do great."
The cast members looked up in glee, their nervousness melting away in the presence of their esteemed co-star.
"Thanks, Iñaki," one of them replied, a cheeky smile spreading across their face. "That means a lot coming from you."
Iñaki nodded, his gaze lingering on each of them in turn.
You began to take your place behind the cameras. The crew were able to get through the interviews and mini games created to show off their fondness for the series.
But, you'd be lying if you say you didn't have a favorite.
Anyway, the lovely cast changed outfits to something more of a dinner casual look. Emily wore a sparkly black and pink accented dress that you HAD to get a picture of. The lovely girl gladly posed for you and you couldn't help but admire her playful air. Jacob was beginning to grow on you as well. (You even got him to recreate his little dancey dance for your personal gallery.) Mackenyu was quiet but willing as you snapped two photos of him in his ironic green and black polo/dress pant combo. Taz, being his usual friendly self, even requested a selfie with you!
Passing your camera to the taller male you secured your black mask over your face before offering a peace sign. Taz, on the other hand, decided to stick out his tongue and make some silly faces to provoke your giggles before passing the camera back. Soon the others joined in and even pulled Mackenyu into the mix.
There was just one person missing though.
Iñaki had just finished changing before he photobomed the sweet selfies in the background. He popped into a deep squat that looked as though he has shit himself while in deep though. This would later prove to be a very popular sequence on the Instagram account and elsewhere on the internet. After the giggles has died down, you decided to pack it up for the day. Donning a mid length puffer coat you felt a hand softly tugging your sleeve.
"(Y/n), would you come to dinner with us?" Iñaki suggested, his chestnut eyes wide and pleading. "It'll be a great way to celebrate and unwind."
The cast members exchanged excited glances. They all seemed very friendly and inviting, but, you were unsure of how to respond to the unexpected invitation.
"We'd love for you to join us," Emily replied, her voice filled with certainty. You quickly searched her face to find honesty. Jacob nodded behind his shades and Taz offered you a rather sweet smile that reached his eyes.
You shifted onto your other foot, "OH, thank you. But I wouldn't want to impose," you tried to gently decline. Mackenyu, usually the quietness spoke up, "Don't be silly and it would be nice to have another chill person at dinner," he slipped Iñaki a teasing glare before returning to his phone.
Iñaki smiled, his charm and charisma putting something inside you at ease. You unknowingly began to smile back at him nodding.
"Great, it's settled then," he said, clapping his hands together. "Now let's go EAT! I'm starving."
And with that, the cast members set off for their dinner reservation, your nerves replaced with a newfound sense of confidence and determination. And as you faced the budding evening with grace and poise, you couldn't help but feel a swell of relief in your chest.
Iñaki was a real gentleman, offering you the seat next to him in Taz's jeep. The ride was filled with singing and silly inside jokes. And as you looked forward to the dinner ahead, you knew that they were not just colleagues, but a family, bound together by their shared love for One Piece and each other. You felt something slide into your hands and glancing down you saw a phone with a new contact screen opened.
Looking up, you saw Iñaki gazing back at you with those same warm eyes and big smile. You offered a small smile back and as you pushed the buttons to fill out your contact info you couldn't help but feel your ears and neck getting warmer.

rec me podcasts.
not politics
preference towards lighthearted
CONCISE INTRO. i cannot stand ten minutes of poorly edited run on sentences about What's New On Patreon at the start of an episode. i will leave
minimal crosstalk, i don't like listening to different people mumbling over each other
in the past i have liked
the strange case of Starship Iris
taz balance, mbmbam, they are very good at getting to the fucking point of the show and putting show/meetup updates for existing fans at the *end* of the show rather than making new listeners sit through a quarter hour of scheduling we don't care about. (can you tell this drives me up the wall, especially when it isn't even scripted and the host is audibly struggling to recall things?

What are some of your favourite podcasts / podcast recs?
It's hard to pick a favorite though I will say at the moment Midst is the one I think I look forward to the most, so I'm just going to go through basically all podcasts I currently or relatively recently previously listened to and sort them by rough genre. Note that as with all recommendation requests it helps to know the vibe of what you're going for and what's important to you (I know I just was like hey I'll take most music recs but the commitment for music is like the length of a song, whereas podcasts/books/movies/tv are a bit more time put in)
Actual Play:
Longtime listener of NADDPod and TAZ which I'm guessing if you follow me you are broadly aware of but if not feel free to ask more; I also post about Worlds Beyond Number enough that you might know what it is. I checked out Burnt Cookbook party a while ago both because I liked Jenna Stoeber's work with Polygon and because someone asked me for Actual Play podcast-only recs with more than one woman or nb player that weren't RQG and I was like oh I should find some. Anyway it's quite good! it's definitely lower production values than bigger podcasts but the plot is highly original and really good, the vibes are fantastic, the characters are a lot of fun, and all in all worth checking out. I also do listen to the Re-Slayer's Take which I've really enjoyed! Everyone's good but while I was familiar with (and a fan of) Jasmine Bhullar and Jasper William Cartwright's work, Jasmine Chiong as Farah speaks to the Grouchy Old Hunter Woman fan in me and has been a personal standout. It is very heavily edited, which does take some getting used to. Also, I mentioned RQG (Rusty Quill Gaming). It comes with the caveat of "very good but slow to start and then doesn't really stick the landing, imo, though the epilogues help" but I can recommend with that warning.
Scripted Fiction
Camlann. Modern post-apocalyptic Arthuriana/Folklore of the British Isles, with some hints of other folklore as well. 1 season; hoping they get funding for a second because it was very well done and also I want Gwen and Morgan to kiss.
Midst. Hard to describe but if you follow me you've seen a lot of posts that might help. Extremely good! About to finish in a bit over a week's time! Check it out and I advice you check out the first 3 episodes at once to get a feel for it; the three-narrator thing is also "get used to it and it will be fine".
The Penumbra Podcast. Originally envisioned as an anthology podcast but then two specific settings (noir-y space opera and medieval court monster hunters) were very popular. Also nearing its end.
The Silt Verses. Quite literally everything on this list would be described as "New Weird" and "has queer characters" and this is maybe the New Weirdest. Anyway, set in a world where gods are real, require human sacrifice to live, and society is both very complicit and also uses the gods to sell shit. I think people who are mad about D20 or CR not being explicitly political enough should listen to it. Extremely good. Also in its endgame, but they've had a very drawn out schedule as of late.
Welcome to Night Vale. You are on Tumblr; presumably you know the drill. I can't say I'm like...super following what happens but it's one of those things that's been a constant in my life for over a decade and takes up a very pleasant hour-ish per month. This feels like damning with faint praise but the earlier stuff was great and it's still strong, it's just, you know, the inevitable slowness of an indefinitely long slice-of-life-ish show vs. the more plot-driven ones above.
Within the Wires. By one of the Night Vale Creators. I have a post about it but it's set on an alternate history Earth where a cataclysmic war/plague/various other bad things absolutely destroyed the population in the early 1900s, leading to a very different global society. Some people say the seasons are very uneven in quality. They are incorrect. The seasons follow different people and all are in the form of found audio, so they are all quite different, but it's entirely a matter of personal preference if you like a season or not; it's not that some are Objectively Better.
Wolf 359 finished a long time back and I haven't relistened since my original listen in like...2018, but of "podcasts that have finished" it's worth it. Weird space stuff.
Informative(?)
Home Cooking by Hrishikesh Hirway and Samin Nosrat; was a pandemic project that now only airs yearly, really, but worth checking out if you like cooking.
I found out about Home Cooking via Song Exploder, which is just Hrishikesh Hirway talking about songs. Great podcast; the editing is fascinating and I have found a lot of good music from it!
I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats. Has only two seasons but they are both very good if you like The Mountain Goats as a band.
No Such Thing as a Fish: the QI (British quiz show) (if you're British you know this better than I do) researches talk about weird facts and riff on them.
Sawbones: Justin McElroy and his wife Dr. Sydnee Smirl McElroy talk about weird medical history and dumb wellness trends on tiktok. This is one of the earliest podcasts I subscribed to back when I did not drive nearly as much.
The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. Has also completed and there's a book that's basically covering the same ground. It's not like, purely informative; it's very anecdotal (as is I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats) but I learned a lot from it.
Honorable mention: I just didn't have the time or energy to keep up with Ologies by Alie Ward but what I listened to was fun and interesting and my sibling is a big fan.
Comedy and Miscellany:
Beef and Dairy Network: also British, on the Max Fun network with the McElroys. Fucking weird. I debated putting this in the scripted fiction because it's basically "what if Welcome to Night Vale was a little less story focused but still had throughlines and was specifically about the cattle industry in some absurdist alternate version of our world" but stuck with comedy bc the absurdity outstrips the plot. It's weird!
My Brother, My Brother, and Me: you probably know this one; either you love it or you don't.
My Dad Wrote a Porno: also British and from what I understand a bigger deal over there. Has uh. reached completion, in that they decided they were done, but the books apparently go on (sorry Rocky I'm not buying them). A guy and his two good friends read and roast his father's self-published erotica e-books about Belinda Blumenthal, Pots and Pans saleswoman, ft. bad accents, corporate espionage, and, of course, The Duchess.
The Empty Bowl: Justin McElroy and Dan Goubert of Cerealously's ASMR podcast about cereal. legitimately has helped me calm down when anxious at night. I am not even a big cereal eater it's just entertaining and chill.
Anyway any other podcasts I have listened to I've either forgotten, weren't good enough to recommend, just disappeared without any conclusion [*cough* king falls am] or involve way more reservations than I am willing to go into without knowing more about what you are looking for.

Montrose pretty backstory animatic plan is done
In my opinion, it’s very acceptable and will surely be entertaining. I skimmed through the TAZ wiki and relistened to other episodes to be able to, like, tie everything together and do some foreshadowing and stuff. The animatic is going to be more than 6 minutes long and there’s no way I’m gonna animate all of that with backgrounds and fluid animations and stuff, so I’m probably going to just do it in a very very basic way, just to get it across. Most of the people Montrose will interact with aren’t in the arc but if I can somehow get griffin to watch it and make him say that it’s canon or that parts of it are, I will die happy.
Welp, better start on the actual script and then animate for weeks.
